How does it work.
this version requires you to change all the .lnk files pointing to tmail.exe, or to the dll...maybe even other ones...
I say all lnk's but the most important are the ones the "friend" is going see/use.
I've included a shortcut creator in the attachment.
In FileList.ini specify the application to block,
in the included file it's \WIndows\tmail.exe
and i've used msg as argument.
so in the .lnk would point to lockdown.exe with the argument msg
if the passcode is correct the file will be opened.
it's not very quick (since it needs to be opened) but this should change in the next version.
the passcode can be changed in the settings.ini, default is 12345
Let me know what you think or if you have any ideas

Well I finally got around to an update, which is attached below
The application has been rebuild from the ground up, I've used a Lock and Key method, e.g. the lnk uses key.exe which communicates with the server (the lock) this way the server only needs to read the filelist once which should save time.
<note>
because of this you will need to enter the items in the FileList.ini prior to starting the server, when the server is running it will create the used shortcuts for you
which you can then place.
if you add stuff while it is running the shortcuts wont be created...
pointers on making the FileList.ini is in the readme below.
New in this version
- installer (cab)
- app to date support
- redesigned layout
- support for arguments, opening the sms should work now, it does for me
- locking of other files should work now too (thesed with a html file)
- automatically create the proper lnk files in sub folder
To do
- include support for different screen sizes
- way to customize the colors
- mask input with *
- skinning...?

just opens account picker, is on todo list? not bugging you, good app,

great will it run on VGA? make it as simple as you can so when we are in hurry the soft won't load so long

Are we able to make it request the pin for any application listed in FileList? First try didn't work, I want to restrict more than just the inbox

Correct that isn't working... also i'm not sure if it will be in there,
the reason is I wanted to change the app so it looks at the window name,
this would close all message related windows, and there is no need to change the .lnk files

Currently any application can be restricted by providing a ID + location, e.g
xyz=\Program Files\TCPMP\player.exe
changing the link to tcpmp would have lockdown popup first

hmmm, not sure i know what you mean. But basically, as it is now, I can't go direct to the inbox of sms using your lockdown? \o?

Basically, no
but as a workaround you could try making an lnk to tmail.exe with the -service etc. in there, next change the FileList.ini pointing to that new lnk...
not sure if it will work though

some novelty things to add: skins, mask input with '*', maybe use symbols instead of numbers, 'jumble' keypad/symbols random for added security (if using symbols )

now, that you mention it yes, i have tried it and it does not work, if it is the specific html file. the lockdown screen would still appear but nothing happens after entering the code. maybe it will work, if the iexplore.exe itself is lockdown but this will lock down every/all html files. would it be a big change to code it, just for specific html files? i'm also thinking on specific text files just like the said html files. i keep notes on pure text files like tax account number, passwords, pincodes, etc in a text or word file. maybe this is pushing too far. maybe in the next version/release? hehehe thank you for sharing and more power...

I've tested with PIE.exe and i plan this for the next version.
Please note though that this tool is only for making sure "friends" don't read your personal stuff very easy, but passwords/pin codes might be a bit too high risk..

I'm a mod freak and there are somethings i would like to change in this prog.
like the programs "tab" only has 3 rows. i want to make this 4. anyone with a bit of experience possibly from the 2.xx series know where to do it?
the configs are simple ZIP files. Just open the DAT file as a ZIP file or rename it to ZIP.
in order to edit the file you need to put in the password which is:
b0fm18zq
Maybe we could custom tailor it and post the modded DAT files collected here. Most of the 2.xx series of mods/skins are portable with a little or no modification except renaming of some picture files (same password in 2.xx). the possibilities are endless
Please remove or correct my post if I'm violating/doubleposting something here.

qa_layouts.dat - This contains only XML files. 61 to be precise lots of interesting stuff! (tried to change the Iconspacing in programs to 24. didn't get my 4 icons row though )

I don't know yet. I just played around with it last night before bed. I'm just a NB in this who poked around with this great ap after not being pleased with everything and curious on what could be achived so i dont have alla the answers this is a team effort. hopfully someone with the experience or knowhow checks this. In the meantime we have to do it by trial and error. and map it all as we go along

I have discovered that Topaz enhanced menus works great with SPB MS 3.0 activated (and Manila installed but not activated in the today screen) so so far its a necessary evil to have Manila installed until we know possible witch file or reg settings are needed.

Hi masrterk,
I personally don't agree. i like to taylor make my GUI and of course the tastes differ. For instants.. i would like to have it pretty barebone and point to the prefered app of choice like resco contactmannager or glarm witch are the best! IMHO annyway
BUT if one could integreate them somehow that would be great if you had that choice.
right now its really easy just to link to those apps from the lifestyle screen.

Remove calendar from professional layout?

i am trying to figure out how to do something that we were able to do in 2.1, but has been left unoptional in 3.0. I would like to get rid of the calendar on the pro screen. All I want to see is my upcoming appointments (if I have any). I don't want the screen cluttered with a pesky grid-style calendar. I am such a nooB at this it is silly, but here I am, messing around with .dat files......
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is already one in the SPB Shell settings, click the right softkey in settings and there it is, to the left of the exit button.
I tried it myself today, completely uninstalled mobile shell before I installed the official version, loaded the backup and everything was restored in the new version, included widgets and all

I don't see the grid calendar on my pro screen anymore. On the pro settings page, choose "calendar", then change # of appointments to "as many as possible". After doing this, mine now shows the next two appointments.
I have searched the site for the modifications that I am after, but cannot quite find what i want for my Touch Pro.
1. Calendar tab on the TF3D menu
2. Modify existing Internet tab to display the coloured 'globe' - currently just a list of favourites.
3. Modified comm manager (keeping existing icons) so that 'switches' are htc green and not red and the highlight focus is htc green and not vodafone red.
4. I think it's the *.tsk theme to change so that highlight focus is htc green and not vodafone red on enlarged menus but grey else where retaining the black bars top and bottom with white text.
I am currently using the LantisOS TF3D with HD contacts (cfc compressed) - have tried installing other 'fixes' to give the calendar tab but it tries to over write the contacts and history tab which I already have and screws it up. I have also tried various other methods of getting what I want, see here
I do not want to change the ROM for various reasons so I am offering beer money or more to whoever wants to take this on.
OS details;
6.1 Pro 5.2.19965 (Build 19965.1.2.3)

ROM Date: 09/03/08

Ok, have tried to manually back up the manila files and replace them, can't seem to do it in total commander, even if I change all the file attributes, won't let me copy and replace.
Ok, I have got the calendar tab working, credit due to those who have worked on it However, it doesn't link to my actual calendar and you can't touch any of the dates to bring it up?
I think I'm pretty much there on the green highlight in the comm manager, just 4 *.png files to edit.
Still stuck on the the other issues. So any help much appreciated.
Am almost to the point of giving up as I can't even change the png files, oh well.
Offer still stands if anyone is interested, am happy to pay someone for the modifications that I'm after.

Decided I'm not too fussed about the Calendar tab, no-one seems interested in helping out on that front as it would seem that my TF3D is all a bit 'old hat'.
Still need some help on the Internet tab though
I can put a cab file together if anyone would be kind enough to let me know which files I need for the coloured globe internet tab.

Sorted out most stuff, the Internet tab was the easist, didn't realise that i just needed to mod the InternetPortal-en-gb.xml file.
Now displays exactly what I want.
Still working on the calendar tab and have changed my tf3d to 12aon's full manilla rether that the CFC version as a lot of stuff like the clocks don't quite work properly with it. Also modding for the call history tab too.
Good to hear you're getting somewhere Not much is happening with the calendar tab, unfortunately... I guess you'll have to upgrade to some kind of cooked TF3D2 to get more functionality...
this question has been asked before, i have searched as I know many will request me to do. The problem is there has been no solution yet, and possibly A) because not enough are away of it and B) because it hasn't been asked in the right way.
almost all the cooks, and devs have worked and manipulated 2.1 and 2.5 to their liking so i believe there has to be a way to fix this:
In manila 2.1, when facebook was logged in to, and the profile picture was updated with the FB pic, that picture was also updated to the WM directory and then would save to outlook. Most people brought this up when it stopped happening in 2.5 because of the dialer, but my reason is for the outlook part.
Now what I would like from the devs, if anyone can check, HOW 2.1 saved the pic (like what was the registry setting) compared to 2.5 causing the latter to not save to the WM contact directory itself. All i know now, is 2.5 saves it in a path of windows\fbcontacts.
I searched registry settings last night, left and right in hkcu and hklm, to software, htc, then manila to see how it handled "people" but no luck there as i don't know how to add values to make it do what I want.

P.S. I understand there are other "programs" namely booksync and outsync but if we can fix this it will completely eliminate the need of having to use our pc just to "try" to match it up with our phones (since with outsync you can't manually link profiles like our manila 2.5 fb can.)
this is addressed to anybody running any manila version on a blueangel or any other device!
in some rom there are 4 default pictures for manila's people tab. there are 2 different pictures for men (i think one was thin and one wore a cap) and 2 different ones for women (different hair styles i think).
i am trying to set up my people tab and don't have contact photos for some people and i don't want to use the same guy for all those people.
so, if you are running manila, please check your windows folder for those people pics. they are removed from most roms for space purposes, so i don't have them on any of my devices. i don't want to flash all the manila roms just to find the missing 3 pictures.
the file name starts with HH_ and i can't seem to find them using google.
