I've done a search but can't find anything.
All I want to do is change that little flag icon (top of start menu) to something else.
I have 1.93 rom so can't change themes, and don't want to change anything else.
Is there a .gif or .jpg that I can overwrite?
Thanks!

I'm trying to edit the icons of the shortcuts in my start menu.
I want to use this, so that I can use the Icons of programs like tomtom to startup via the overclock tool....
But now, sice the shortcut starts with the omapclock tool, the icon is the same as the tool...
Also, there is an app called flitsnav, which also launches Tomtom, and I want to use the tomtom icon rof this shortcut...
I can't seem to find the solution in this forum anywhere, but maybe I looked over it in my search..

hmmm

Although I'm not really sure what all that means ou guys wrote there..
No easier way? just to change the icon of a .exe?
Anyway thanks..
p50kombi: if you want to change the icon for the executable, which you don't (since you want to change icons for shortcuts), you would use a resource editor on your PC. That's not too easy, but it's doable.
Using custom icons on shortcuts on the PDA is not difficult.
Basically, copy this into notepad, and call it VJMail.lnk
Code:
38#\windows\tmail.exe?\windows\DIM.exe,0
38
- Ignore this (it's the length of everything after #)
\windows\tmail.exe
- this is the app you want to launch
?\windows\DIM.exe,0
- this is the icon it should show instead of its default one
- it means, take the first (ie 0th) icon in \windows\dim.exe as the icon
It's not hard. This is just an example. Use your own programs etc of course.

i'll try it right away..
Thanks VJ!!!!
It worked!!!!
Thanks VJ.....
It wasn't that hard afterall indeed!!!
Anyone got any way of extending the backlight of the keyboard allready?
I just flashed a new rom, and am in the process of making some custom shortcuts for the start menu, in order to implement them into my programs tab on TF2d.
How does one go about changing the icons displayed by actual WM (and in turn, TF2d)? Again, I'm not talking about about UL, IFonz, Hi-nav, SPB Pocketplus, or anything that has a icon changing function already in place. If it were that cut and dried, I wouldnt be asking. The goal here to to use some of bluemetalaxe's icons to replace the generic DOS looking icons that you get when you create your own shortcut.
Could anyone here point me in the right direction? Previous searches have only netted results for the aforemention programs, and the only place you really see customized Windows Mobile icons are in cooked roms. Surely there is a way to do this without having to cook, im not in the mood to do THAT much tweaking.
Thanks in advance,
Colin
Yes - this is a relatively hard topic to find & understand from this forum. But through a bit of patience, it can be done.
Here you can read how to change icons for folders:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339405&highlight=icons
For icons for individual files, I sort of learned by myself (read ^ that thread first):
Select an icon from your .dll
Select a setting or program to link to
Then, simply create a .lnk file that is structured like this example [for wi-fi settings]:
1#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,17?\Windows\custicons.dll,-186
Thanks alot man, I appreciate your help. I'm saving that info to notepad for the archives, lol.
^ yeah no problem dude.
That's what I did - all the important info is stored away
Does anybody know how tune up 6.5 StartMenu ?
How to add\remove items, resort...
As for add/remove items, check out \Windows\Start Menu folder on your device. And yes, you can make your own folders in Programs. If you open files already there, you'll find out they are simple text shortcuts.
As for resort... easily, no idea. I usually manage to "calculate" what must I "bring to front" (by tapping and holding on an icon) to resort everything the way I want.
btw.. love your 1% battery increment. Like every one else does
thnx : )
i want to move Power.exe to Top in Settings, but it moved to Top of StartMenu!
BTW look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481379
Every time I try to install a new theme, either by a CAB or by Diamond TF3D Config the slider always messes up. Everything loads correctly but the slider never lines up with the icons. It is always to the side of the icon, never in the center.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or how I can fix this would be great.
Thanks in advance!

afther that prosses do a softreset and install your favorit theme again
I was sorting the start menu icons on my HD2 today and I now seem to have broken the HTC_Music, HTC_Calendar, HTC_Footprints, HTC_People, HTC_Twitter icons by moving them into a folder called HTC. After a soft reset ugly plain generic icons were automatically created in the root of the start menu and the ones I moved into the HTC directory were also reset to ugly ones. I tried copying back the ones I moved back but they still remain the same. Any idea how I can fix these broken icons?
Cheers,
Richard.
try this tweak:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable
Change to 0 and soft reset.
That happened to me, but I didnt change anything for that to happen. I dont use the shortcuts and that is was HTC Sense is for, so I just deleted them...was that a rash decision?
I tried the above registry edit, but it is just not working for me. The icons in the start menu are still bland icons.
