Using 3 (Hutchinson Three) USIM in Universal

I have unlocked my MDA Pro, and placed my contract 3 USIM into it.
It works fine, you can even make it use 2.5g and nick o2 :wink:
Only question I do have, is when using the 3 network, the network name comes up as 23420?
Does anyone have any ideas?

So its okay. That is the network identifier for 3. Looks like somebody forgot to program the name for 3 into the device

Call me picky, but is it possible to program it in?

I've tried to avoid the 3 network in general after I was with them for 1 week.
In 1 week, I got more problems than with any other network (excluding t-mobile) in years!
T-mobile's advice to increase call stability (not cutting out and loosing signal) was to stand still.
hmmm...

I got it from T-Mobile, once you have had it 1 month, call 150 and it costs £15.

do you know the settings to get the 3g web browsing working?
all i want is to be able to use internet (pie) not the 3 browser or anything, does anyone have the settings or a cab file?

i just got a settings cab off their website - don't have their rom. I use WM6 you see so their rom would be a downgrade

O2 EXEC on 3 network
ever since I started to use my o2 exec with a 3 sim, the normal use is fine, but some times even at home or outside the reception just dies and it doesnt come back on automatically. I have to activate the flight mode and then turn it off, for it to start searching for the network.
Any Ideas as to what I should do.

i follow the changes which can only change the name on the list but not the dial screen , any idea ?

its got the bypass certification built in when you select unlock extended_ROM.
Can now edit config.txt to add a cab that auto-install protection software (eye on thief, with my config.ini) to send me wife the thief's phone no.

One suggestion regarding Wifi:
I understand that the TyTN uses WiFi only at a rate of 11Mbit. A modification of the registry entry dot11DesiredTxRate from 0 to 13 will increase the speed to 54MBit/s.
Have not tested yet if this change will then allow operation in 54Mbit range only but I presume that also the slower networks are ok.
Maybe worth adding to the tool.

Here a suggestion for a future update of your software, which should be fairly easy to implement:
An option to swap the HTTP User Agent in the Registry and afterwards have swap it back again to the TyTN default value.
The HTTP User Agent can be found as a Registry key (don't know it by heart at the moment; can drop you a line if you'd need that information) and allows you mimic your device for webservers checking this value as an other device, e.g. a Nokia phone
Apart from just making fun of this function there is also a practical use in some cases, in fact where a webserver checks the value for either oresenting a different screen resolution or switching to WAP mode (note: some Nokia phones just have a very poor screen resolution or even cannot present real http pages).
In some cases WAP pages are of advantage versus real http webpages because their size is smaller, e.g. when just retrieving pure information.
While there are surely more "sophisticated" (and probably also complex !) ways for upgrading the Hermes Tweaker I think this one would be swiftly implemented.

However I have found something strange with it.
I disabled the CommManager from the taskbar and suddenly the battery icon is disabled as well.

Does it mean that I can use a part of this "extended rom" as a space ram to softs ?
What does it mean if I select "Mount Ext Rom" and "Unlock Ext Rom" ?

It means the space where you can find the CAB Files from Orange or O2.
It will be installed after every hardreset.
If you don't know what Ext Rom is, don't unlock it and don't mount it !

[HELP] HTC SENSE destroys message interceptor

Hey guys,
I have a message interceptor in my c# application like this:
Interceptor = new MessageInterceptor(InterceptionAction.Notify);
Interceptor.MessageReceived +=new MessageInterceptorEventHandler(Interceptor_MessageReceived);
This works perfectly on the old phones, however on HTC HD2 the Interceptor_MessageReceived method is never fired. I googled around and found out that several other developers had this problem, however i didnt find a solution. The problem seems to be that HTC Sense overrides the normal message interceptor and throws away the notify event.
Does anyone know a solution for this, for instance using P/Invoke?
Please help!

Could you please explain/detail what you mean by "it works on my Leo"? I am trying the application on my HTC HD2 and, while it is executing, it will not intercept any of the received sms.

HTTP-Tunnel for Android akin Proxycap

I´m a HTC Touch HD User, but now I want to move to Android (HTC Desire).
I live in Germany and my provider is Vodafone and the sold me a wap Flatrate. My English is not perfect but I hope you can help me anyway.
To use my Blackstone with Internet I have to do some settings. In my HTC Touch HD I have to set my connections like this:
Settings--Connections--Connections--Advanced--Select Networks--New
First I have to add a new modem:
Access point name: wap.vodafone.de
Then I have to use "IP header compression"
Secondary I have to set my Proxy Setting like this:
Type: HTTP, WAP, Secure WAP and Socks to 139.7.29.1:80
Additional to this, I have to use Proxycap from proxycap.com
For the perfect working I have to set proxycap like this:
Proxies--Add new proxy...:
Type: HTTPS
Host: 139.7.29.1
Port: 80
Rules--Add new rule...:
Name: xyz (for example)
Type: Tunnel through proxy
Proxy: 139.7.29.1:80
Transports: TCP
Only with this settings I can use nearly all things on my HTC Touch HD (except the twitter-tab but it doesn´t matter).
Now my question. Is there an alternative program to Proxycap on Android? Or can I set Android to use a HTTPS tunnel?
I now my English is bad but I hope you understand my question and you can help me.

Sorry, perhaps my English is too bad but didn´t understand what you mean.
Do I have to root my device to use this "trick"?
EDIT: OK, I found Cyanogenmod.com Can I use this MOD for the HTC Tattoo/Click? It´s the device of my girlfriend. And is it possible that this will not work wit the Desire (my next device)?
I don´t know if these questions are stupid but I´m new on Android. WinMobile isn´t much easier for me.

Can you show me a good link, that show me how I can create XMLs for the TATTOO & DESIRE?

what can be done is using a proxy and iptables to direct traffic. I have been trying to get this working but I am not able to get apps for linux compiled for arm. I have tried to compile u2nl for android which with iptables will route traffic through a proxy all traffic. If anyone has information on how to make this run on android would love to hear.

Just search the market for a program called APN Backup & Restore. MAKE SURE you backup your APN's (twice!) so that when you mess with it, and your phone loses all cell phone signal, you can DELETE then RESTORE APNs! (don't just restore, without deleting, because it adds them all together).

Can I use my Router to tunnel exerything through 139.7.29.1:80, when I´m using a vpn-connection?
And how can I set a VPN tunnel to my router?

I compiled u2nl for arm/android. In the USA people are using Verizon's Motorola Droid on carriers that require you to use an http proxy. Obviously the phone isn't meant to work that way but it is working good for people with u2nl. The main drawback is that they need to use iptables which isn't available unless your phone is rooted or if you are using a custom rom.
