How to enable Letter Recognizer: use CAB in your language - Touch HD General

********************************************************************************
EDIT/UPDATE!
My first post only seems to work for WM6.1 Recently I upgraded to WM6.5 and the CABs don't work!
Afer some searching I came across NothingBetterToDo's entry in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563717&page=3 post#26
read that thread further if you have any problems or for additional information
It seems to do the trick in WM6.5!
Read his instructions carefully!! I couldn't find the "IsOtherSIP" entry in my registry so I added it myself and it seems to work fine.
(I used PHM Registry Editor) http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml
I did install the "enablerecognizerswwe.cab" below first, I don't know if that matters anything..
Downside: the LetterRecognizer won't ever show in the pull-up menu so if you change your input method, the only way to get it back is through a soft-reset, which will put it back to the Letter Recognizer. But hey, since this fix will enable the Letter Recognizer, why ever change your input method?!
I'll post it here, many thanks to NothingBetterToDo!!

So sorry for keeping you guys waiting. The following are the steps I took based on my memory.
To enable the Letter Recognizer SIP, set this to 1:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
You will notice that this will not make the SIP appear, for example, in your SMS application. However, it should appear in the pulldown menu at Start->Settings->Personal->Input. Now, if you try to set the Letter Recognizer as default, thinking that it will appear in SMS application, it doesn't. For some reason, it will always default back to the Touch Input (or EzInput) SIP.
So, the next step is to make the Letter Recognizer SIP the default. To do that, check the value at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\DefaultIm
It should be "0654897B-B359-473F-B28B-D85CF601C57F" (for Touch Input SIP). Replace that with
"42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9" (for Letter Recognizer SIP).
WARNING -- very very important to make sure the above is entered correctly. According to some posts elsewhere, a non existent SIP can crash your device. You might want to confirm if you have the Letter Recognizer SIP by searching for the msim.dll file. If it exists, I suppose it is probably safe.
After soft reset (power on/off device), you should now see the Letter Recognizer in your SMS application. However, you will also notice it doesn't work properly. For eg, the Capital Letter (left panel) doesn't work, there is this irritating word suggestions thing that keep popping up, it is quite slow and quite inaccurate, the Help doesn't work well.
To resolve these problems, set the following to 1:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ezsip\IsOtherSip
Do a soft reset and the problems should disappear and you have a good Letter Recognizer to work with (even with fingernail), save for the following problems:
a. Sometimes response may not be very good. Can be quite slow especially if you are entering letters like "i", "r". Maybe this is because of the screen sensitivity.
b. If you click on the little triangle and want to switch to the Touch Input SIP, you can. But the problem is that you can't switch back to the Letter Recognizer anymore unless you do a soft reset. I guess this is OK if you use Letter Recognizer exclusively, but if you want the Chinese Handwriting feature in Touch Input (which is pretty good IMO), then it is not good.
Sorry for the long post. Thought it is better to also share my observations. I am a newbie with registry thing, so I prefer to do step by step and hence many soft resets. If you are gungho enough, just do the steps in bold followed by a soft reset. Hope it works for all you guys.
Note -- if you don't feel safe doing the registry changes, an alternative is to use the Touch Input SIP but set the waiting time to the shortest possible which will reduce the delay. But it is still very irritating to use IMHO.
Cheers

old post:
Ahaa!!! I have discovered why my Leter Recognizer wouldn't work on my newly flashed ROM.
On my Dutch HTC TouchHD the Leter Recognizer didn't come on the OEM standard ROM. Then I installed EnablerecognizersNL.CAB which I still had from my previous HTC (Artemis or XDA Compact III) and it worked like a charm.
Then I flashed my ROM to Dutty's 2.0 and later 2.1 and ARGH! the Letter Recognizer wouldnt work anymore!
It seemed to install fine and it also showed up in the 'other input methods' list but when selected, the normal keyboard would come up instead. It was even listed in the pull down menu to adjust the options in the options/Input Method/settings window but on pressitn the 'options' button I would get a message stating something like 'could not retrieve application'.
Then I tried several other enable recognizers .CAB files, but none worked, except the WWE version, and that is the solution to the problem!
You need to enable the EnableRecognizers.CAB file that is for YOUR language setting, so the NL version worked on my Dutch ROM, but not on my WWE ROM.
Here is the WWE version (post #2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421157
and here is the Dutch version (post #7)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289839
and here is another, dunno what language (post #2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469250
I hope this helps other people as it took me a few days before finding this out.
If you have a CAB in a specific language, I suggest you post it in this thread, I'll try posting the above mentioned versions here as well.

Thanks..! Work Fine for me

Thanx!
It works! Got my HTC Touch Diamond just a few weeks ago, and was very frustrated that I didn't have a letter recognizer. I've used serveral pda's (no mobile), got pretty used to the letter recognizer in 7 years... Only one problem... the loss of buttons ;-) No software patch to solve that ;-)

Hi !!
I've tried the CAB's that you post but none of them worked in my htc touch dual.
Do you know a CAB for Portuguese language?

Followed Step 1 (enabling letter recognizer in reg) and it worked! Followed Step 2(setting it as default SIP) and it crashed my HTC Topaz! My phone does HAVE the msim.dll file! I was on Dutty R15 rom. I have to re-flash
BEWARE: Having the msim.dll file does NOT mean it wouldn't crash your phone for Step 2!!!
I do thank NothingBetterToDo for writing that post and Lx for quoting it here. I wish there is aother way to set Letter Recognizer as default SIP. For now, it is better than nothing.

Is there any thing like this for android 4
Is there any thing like this for android 4,

Disable Autocomplete

Would someone please tell me how to get rid of this new autocomplete, it's really slowing me down...I already tried turning off Word Completion in Settings -> Input.
I haven't seen that type of auto-complete before, but it looks rather good. What SIP are you using? Is it a new function in the latest ROM's or have you added a third party SIP?
Came with my Sprint Touch. It shows up whenever I use the built in block recognizer. Normally I wouldn't mind since it can be helpful for those really long words, but this one really really slows down my Touch and causes my strokes to be recognized incorrectly
Seemed to have figured it out, I just had to disable the Wordcompletion keys under HKLM\Software\Tegic

It also looks like this is provided by the new fullscreen keyboard SIP added to the Sprint Touch
comes in the new rom.. i cant find anyway to off it too..
I installed the new Touch Keyboard and Touch Keypad found in these pages (somewhere ?? sorry not sure...) and this now appears on the default keyboard.
Totally agree: it sucks big time. I couldn't find a way to turn it off also, so I eventually flash a rom without it
hi EliteXen,
could you be more specific which reg key under
HKLM\Software\Tegic
you changed to disable the autocomplete? thanks.
To turn off the XT9 autocomplete for non-Touch keyboards:
Go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\ and change the key "XT9SupportMSSip" from value "1" to "0"
However, to turn it off within a Touch keyboard I think you need to go to "Options" for the keyboard --> XT9 Settings --> uncheck everything...
Can't use "Word Completion" on the Touch?? (Only XT9??)
Turned off XT9 as above but apparently the normal Windows Mobile "Word Completion" doesn't work??
Is it possible to use the normal "Word Completion" or is that functionality not included since they included XT9?
(I actually think XT9 does better prediction that "Word Completion" but XT9 prevents various 3rd-party keyboards/SIPs from working ...)
Here's some info: installed the dictionary editor from http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-word-completion-dictionary-editor-v1-3-2342-39581.html and it showed no entries in the system. Added a couple entries and saved them to the main dictionary so there are entries now, but they still aren't popping up as suggestions
What would be really great is if XT9 can be enabled and NOT interfere with 3rd-party SIPs. (For me, it prevents the "macros" function in MessagEase from working...) Otherwise, would love to be able to re-enable the Windows Mobile "Word Completion" if anyone knows how...
One of my problems (mostly) fixed
Apparently I'll just be sitting around posting repeatedly to this thread all day
Okay, here's something that can help if you are having trouble with XT9 interfering with a 3rd party SIP but you want to KEEP XT9's autocompletion rather than have no autocompletion at all...
The below fix made it possible for MessagEase macros to work along with XT9 being activated, although it looks a bit funky when MessagEase macros are being expanded (as the macro is being typed by MessagEase, XT9 is trapping every character and making new guesses, and then it remembers the macro as a new "autocomplete" phrase).
So here's how to make MessagEase and XT9 work together:
1) DON'T do the registry change described earlier (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\XT9SupportMSSip) --> if that entry was already changed to 0, change it back to 1 because we want it active again...and if you make a registry change then you'll have to turn the device off/back on and reboot as usual)
2) from the keyboard selector (the up arrow on lower right of screen), select "Options"-->then select "Touch Keyboard" and tap "Options" button
3) click "XT9 Settings" button --> uncheck everything EXCEPT "Word Completion"
4) click "Ok" a bunch of times
Now MessagEase macros work although XT9 is try to trap every character MessagEase is writing...
[[One note: I *love* MessagEase but haven't used the macros in a long time as there was a bug that started happening due to the "macros" function (I called it Mad WM5 Syndrome: everything started going crazy and you had to reboot). So Exideas made a MessagEase "Lite" version without macro functionality that is very stable...They tried to fix the non-"Lite" version but the last one I tried (long ago) still caused the problem on a PPC-6700...So now I'm trying the non-"Lite" version again, hoping the macro function will work without causing "Mad WM5 Syndrome"...I will post back if the mad syndrome returns!]]
Aaron
Well unfortunately I don't have much to add, but since you're the only one posting on this thread I thought I'd echo your desires for the standard windows word completion. I like to use the keypad at times and xt9 works just fine for that, but when I'm using my hardware keyboard I'm unable to get word completion back. I miss it!
GOod job with the work-around mentioned in your last post. I think I'd prefer the normal word completion to xt9's though, so hopefully someone can figure out a way to to limit xt9's "influence" to only those times that you're using the touch keypads.

Unfortunately, "Mad WM5 Syndrome" has become "Mad WM6 Syndrome" with the non-LITE version of MessagEase on my HTC Touch. So I'm back to using the LITE version of MessagEase without macros However, it's great using MessagEase on the Touch because you can slide right off the keyboard as there's no "ledge" between the screen and the rest of the device

Who here uses the Letter Recognizer for input?

I have a question for those of you (if any) who are using the letter recognizer, the block recognizer, or the original Windows Mobile keyboard as your input method on the Touch HD: Do you get word completion pop-ups?
I'm a long-time WM user (the Touch HD is my fifth WM device) and the letter recognizer is my preferred method of input and one of the reasons I like it is the convenience of not having to type entire long words most of the time, with the ability to simply pick from the completion suggestions pop-up instead. However, I get no completion pop-up on the Touch HD when I use the letter recognizer. The same is true for the block recognizer and the WM keyboard as well. Am I alone in experiencing this? Am I alone in being annoyed by this? What gives?...
I use the Letter Recognizer and find it faster than any of the keyboard. Make sure you enable T9 in the default keyboard and word completion will be available. I thought I lost it too when I accidentally disabled T9.
Thanks for your response. This tells me that something might be wrong on my device, because I get no word completion pop-ups even when I do that.
Here are all of my current settings related to this:
On the Full QWERTY keyboard, the "ABC <-> T9" slider is set to T9.
On the Compact QWERTY keyboard, the "ABC <-> T9" slider is set to T9.
Under "Touch Input Settings", "Word Completion in T9 mode" is selected, "Word Completion in ABC mode" is selected, "Auto-Substitution" is deselected, "Spell Correction" is deselected.
Under the input "Options" (the original WM input options), on the "Word Completion" tab, "Suggest words when entering text" is selected. (The "Suggest after entering" setting is "2 letters", the "Suggest" setting is "4 words", and "Add a space after word" is deselected.) And "Enable Auto Correct" is deselected.
Still no word completion suggestion pop-ups...
I have no idea what could be wrong!
If there's anyone out there with additional insight into this, your feedback would be appreciated. You might be my only hope.
It's odd, I set mine to the "phone keypad" and now it wont go back to any of the others, I've tried them all, selected them, go back in and *poof* it's gone back to a standard phone layout. Turning it on and off failed to fix this so I'm presuming I'm going to have to reset
I have the same problem here too.
What keyboards do you have installed? I have the SPB Keyboard, reckon that might affect things??
All my settings are the same as above...and HD Tweak says T9 and word completion are on. T9 and word completion wwork fine on the keyboards but not the letter/block recogniser.
I don't have any third party keyboard installed (if I don't count the HTC stuff that came with the phone). I do have a bunch of other software installed, on the other hand. But, I don't think any of those have anything to do with input methods (although, it's hard to discount "unintended consequences"...).
I must add that suggestions don't work for me on the Windows Mobile default keyboard either. (I'm not sure if you implied that it works on yours.)
So, my exact situation is as follows:
HTC Full QWERTY keyboard:
Suggestions displayed horizontally listed (i.e., HTC-proprietary)
HTC Compact QWERTY keyboard:
Suggestions displayed horizontally listed (i.e., HTC-proprietary)
HTC Phone keypad:
Suggestions (surprisingly) displayed horizontally listed (i.e., HTC-proprietary)
Windows default keyboard:
No suggestions
Letter recognizer:
No suggestions
Block recognizer:
No suggestions
Suggestions aren't applicable to the Transcriber, naturally.
Perhaps I should have tried this much sooner, but it just occurred to me to try a wider Google search on this topic, and I came across another thread on this site that seems like it might contain the solution(s):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441656&highlight=word+completion
I'm at work right now, so I can't try it right away, but I'll surely do it as soon as I get home. If anyone else with this problem is willing to try that before me, please let us know about the result.

I use the phone keypad on mine and it was fine up until yesterday.
The only thing it gives now is numbers! every other method of text input appears to be ok
Strange, I have had no issues with word complete as long as T9 is selected in the default HTC Full QWERTY keyboard or any of the HTC keyboard. Had this issue with my Omnia in the past where if T9 is activated, the Word Complete pop-up won't work and I had to do a registry tweak to enable word complete, after which T9 is disabled in the other keyboards.
One questoin from a newbie -
i have a problem that I can not menege to use Letter Recognizer.
In settings for inpust I select Letter Recognizer. And confirm.
But always I get keybord. If I open settings again the Full Querty is chosen.

I had a similar problem on my rom (German) after setting T9 to enabled in HD Tweak. Setting T9 in the keyboard settings is fine but you might wanna try to deactivate it in HD Tweak if you enabled it there before.
should it only work when T9 is on ? Or should it also be on when you use ABC?
Cause I would like to have it on when I enabled ABC
I use the letter recogniser about 50% of the time.. I find it slightly quicker than the keyboard on WM.. However as a long time user of UIQ... SE P800/900/990/1 I wish there was something similar to the letter recogniser available on those?? Any one know? It was so logical.. Use the lower half of the screen for letters, top for numbers, and straddle the middle for capitals.. Not like WM where you are restricted to a small box at the bottom.
anyone know if you can get this for WM6.1?
Well, I'm happy to report that the solution explained in the post at the following URL has done what I was trying to achieve (post #8 on that thread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2630663&postcount=8
This brings back the word completion pop-up lists on the standard Windows Mobile input methods. It does eliminate the HTC word completion on the HTC input methods, though (including T9, which makes the Compact QWERTY useless for typing words). But, if you're not interested in those input methods and all you want is to be able to use the Letter Recognizer, Block Recognizer, or WM keyboard with word completion, this may be your solution. (Naturally, try it at your own risk...)

How exactly did you get the Letter Recogniser to work? I used to have it in the OEM ROM but my Enable_recognisers.cab doesn't seem to work on Dutty's 2.1 xtreme ROM.... or is it me??

Autocompletion/Autocorrection solved

For those of you frustrated with the autocorrect/autocompletion method of the Touch HD (who want the old Windows style back) here is the solution. It lets you still use the Diamond Keyboard and real autocorrection/autocompletion like the good old days. It was written for the Fuze but they have the same keyboard and software issues.
The complete solution with hyperlinks is located here: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1527
Here is the text (the hyperlinks and photos were lost):
Many of you have seen my rants about the lack of traditional autocorrect and autocomplete on the Touch Pro (see here where I did it in a posting on editing the T9 dictionary, or here where I did it in our forums, and here where I did it at XDA (I’m BugsyKoosh)). Why was I so angry? For anyone who used an older Windows Mobile phone knows, the old method of autocompletion was far better than what the Fuze has. First off, when entering a contact the old method provided for a longer list of names that you can click on (whereas the Fuze guesses the single closest one and almost forces you into it). Then when actually typing words the Fuze gives you a few words but I always found it very finicky and ultimately turned it off because the space bar caused the word to complete and the spacing was off. Also, the Fuze wasn’t good at correcting mispelled words. It gave you a dictionary that would complete the words but if you spelled it wrong (because you didn’t use autocompletion and just kept typing) that meant you had a typo. The old style was a list of words as you typed in a drop down (you choose starting from 3 words) and it was both autocomplete and autocorrection so anytime I spelled the word ’spelled’ as ’spellde’ it will change it for me and it works a lot smoother. Also, the old style permits for word replacement using autocorrect so when I type the letters "pcm’ in the old style I edited it so it was replaced with ‘please call me if you have any questions’ and ‘tx’ was replaced with ‘thanks’. In fact I wrote a posting here on TiltMobility describing methods of changing the autocorrect files thinking I would port it over here just to get burned realizing that the Fuze simply wouldn’t do it…until now.
[Warning, this is a little long and filled with detail but I think the payoff is gigantic so please bear with me]
For definitional purposes, autocorrection is the ability to change a typo whereas autocompletion is guessing what I’m typing before or while I type. I cannot change the autocompletion dictionary at this time (the one that guesses as you type). This does propagate itself over time and it will get to know you. It also cannot be transferred from older devices. See this article for more information on why it is so hard but until DictMgr is updated we may be SOL (TVDinner was told by the author that an upgrade is in the works so lets all cross our fingers).
So the first step is to disable T9 (this is the method of autocompletion/correction I hate). The cab is posted here in our forums (I was provided this cab from a member at another forum). Don’t worry because you can uninstall this application and revert back (it’s a simply a single registry change actually). Once installed restart your phone for it to take effect. Then, go to Settings - Input and make sure all of the options for Word Completion are checked (you can change the number of words it suggests - I use three). OK now there’s one little glitch. My problem from the start was that the autocomplete method I like did not work with the Full QWERTY Keyboard (you know, the shiny onscreen keyboard that our Fuze comes installed with and is in the photo). It seemed like it would work and then stop and ultimately I was thinking I would be forced to install another keyboard (more on that later). After messing around with the keyboard I realized that I can get the Full QWERTY Keyboard to work with the old method. You have to make sure that the ABC-T9 toggle is set to T9 (look at the photo and you’ll see T9 is selected even though we disabled T9 entry). If you try to toggle it and it will not let you then try this: press the ABC-T9 button and try to toggle it, then hit the .,123 button and try that a few times until it flips over (if that doesn’t work do the same thing after going into portrait mode and toggle T9 and ABC). Have patience - it will toggle and once it does it stays that way. Now here’s the one flaw - the autocompletion with this keyboard only appears when there’s an odd number of letters (ex on the first, third, fifth) [note: autocorrection happens after you misspell a word so it works with this and any of the other keyboards]. Again, we can correct this with a different keyboard but we’ll get to that. What you’ll notice is that completion of contacts and words is instantly different and I think a lot better. Also, the library will build over time as it knows you and aside from correcting the words you type wrong it will get to know you and start to guess the next word before you even type it (it may even guess a few words at a time and by the time you make it to ‘tha’ it will give you an autocompletion option of ‘thank you very much’).
If you do not use the onscreen keyboard because you’re a physical keyboard kinda person then you’re in luck. Simply set the onscreen keyboard to the keyboard named ‘keyboard’ (it’s the crappy Windows default one) and you’re set. That one works like a charm with no nuances (but is miserable as an onscreen keyboard).
Before I let you all go on your editing ways, lets talk about one solution that gets rid of the nuance of only getting autocompletion on odd numbers (so it works on each letter you type) and that is by using a different onscreen keyboard (sorry, but I believe PocketCM uses T9 so it won’t work). If you use the onscreen keyboard and want to get past this nuisance then simply install freeware Happy Tapping Keyboard. In the attached photo I changed the skin to the iPhone skin (it is in that link provided - use the VGA skin). If you set Happy Tapping as your default keyboard it will not survive a soft reset even if you set it as the default input method. To do this install the Default IM cab and set it as the default keyboard (Settings - Input) and set it as the default keyboard in Default IM and it will stay with you. Happy Tapping is a great keyboard but personally I like the layout of the Full QWERTY Keyboard better, especially the shadowing of the buttons so you know its second function. And I learned that Happy Tapping is missing a ‘\’ key which was a burn when I was using Total Commander but I bet for the rest of you it’s meaningless. I will confess I used Happy Tapping for all of my 8525 and Tilt years and it is really very good.
So, in either event, lets change the dictionary so that typos are corrected (or in my case quick text can be created). You don’t need to do this but it’s a nice perk of using this method. There are two ways to do this - the application method and the Total Commander method. The first one is highly recommended for those of you who want simplicity. Simply install freeware DictMgr and go to the "word correction’ tab and you can begin to add words. The downside is that I only see the first few series of words (I don’t even get out of the A letters) but this doesn’t impact adding new words regardless of their first letter. If you use this method it make sense to use freeware MyMobiler so you can use your PC’s keyboard for ease. For those of you that want to see your entire dictionary and don’t mind a little Total Commander action then all you need to do is navigate to Windows and find a file named autocorrect.04…. You can open this in Total Commander (hit the pen/paper at the bottom) or move this file to your computer, edit it there and then move it back to your Fuze (change the settings to take it out of hidden/system). In either case, if you’re willing to use Total Commander there’s another benefit if you’re a former Windows Mobile user since you can get the file from your old phone and move it to your Fuze (I moved mine from my Tilt) but you can do both (move the old file using Total Commander and then edit it using DictMgr). For a step by step set of instructions on using Total Commander to modify the autocorrect file read the article I wrote here on TiltMobilty. In either case you MUST reset your phone for the changes to take effect (the file is read into ROM at startup). Be careful with autocorrection words (obviously you can change it later) but if you change ‘tx’ to ‘thanks’ that means in a text message you cannot use tx (it will correct itself to thanks) so think of variables like ‘thx’ changes to ‘thanks’ for emailing and ‘tx’ stays uncorrected for texting.
This will work for all versions of the Touch Pro, the Diamond and presumably the Touch HD as they all use the same keyboard configuration.
Wow, I feel like we’ve done a lot. I’m drained but relieved that my single biggest complaint is gone. A special thanks is owed to SCDavis who was the first person to try my disableT9 cab even though I warned him of a possible hard reset since I wasn’t sure what it would do and if it was uninstallable and of course to TVDinner who was with me for the autocorrection ride both in our forums and on XDA’s and brought DictMgr to my attention.
Thanks for the write-up. I must admit I tried the word completion for the full QWERTY keyboard and spotted a few bugs so I haven't used it since. Last night I decided to try the phone keypad as an alternative to the full QWERTY so I'm back in the world of T9 and word completion. If I have too many problems with it then I'll try your solution.
T9 is very very painful in my experience. The correction is poor and you don't have control over it and there's no autocorrect (spellcheck). I'm a fan of the old style a lot more... hope it helps - good luck
what is your post for? is there ia cab or file to autocorrect/autocompletion?
thank you.
Here's the cab and the quick version of what is needed. This all works tog et you back to the old style of autocorrection and autocomplete that Windows has and is much better than T9:
1) Disable T9 by cab and soft reset
2) either use the Windows keyboard (which is poor for onscreen use) or Happy Tapping (which requires the Default IM cab to be your default input) OR to use the Full QWERTY Keypad (the preset default keyboard) you need to toggle T9 to on (even though T9 was disabled) and to do this toggle it, hit the 123/abc button a few times until it sticks and you’ll get the old style completion/correction with that keyboard
3) to change the autocorrect dictionary find the autocorrect file in your Windows directory and change it using Total Commander (or other registry editor even though this is not in your registry) or DictMgr
it's interesting. But it seems that T9 use another dictionary that you can choose. Once T9 is disabled, the autocomplete dictionary is back to english, and I don't find the way to change it
any idea to do this ?
Sorry for OT, but I found touchpal to be much better.
It is commercial though, and does not support landscape properly as of version 3.5.

Block Recognizer input method

Being a former palm user, I am quite disappointed when block recognizer was removed from the input options in HD2.
I can enter text and numbers much faster using block recognizer than using the finger keyboard. Is there a way we can have block recognizer again in HD2?
I've read that it's possible with some registry tweaking in Topaz.. However, having different version of manila, I doubt it can be done with HD2, or has anyone has a better solution?
Found Your Fix!!!!!
I was having the same problem. I followed the following thread;

Works -- but beware!
I tried the block recognizer, and it did install and work. But, the screen is much too small to be useful with a finger -- too many errors. And, once activated via keyboard options it seems to take over and won't let you get back to keyboard options.
The problem came with uninstalling it. It uninstalled, but was still there. Tried soft-reset, still there. Then I went into Windows folder and deleted all files installed today (this was the first thing I did this morning). After a couple soft-resets, the keyboard is back -- but options are still screwed up. It still shows the Letter Recognizer and I have to press the keyboard options arrow hard and long to get the options screen to pop up.
Damn. I just did a hard reset to fix something else and spent all last night getting programs back.
This was a magic solution for me. I always used block recognizer and is great to have it again in my HD2.

Handwriting Recognition.

Is it possible to install Handwriting Recognition & Accelerometer on Touch2 ??
I miss these functionalities on this, which is otherwise a great phone to own.
Handwriting recognition, try MyScript Stylus.
As for accelerometer, thats hardware, not software, so no.
Look at the article here:
Sorry had to post the content, cause it would'nt allo me to link since I am a new user:

To enable the Letter Recognizer SIP, set this to 1:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
Cheers

the example describes how to enable the letter recogniser by editing the system registry, personally I favour block recogniser and I set up mine just last nigh using the article as a reference but used the code: {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9} for block recogniser.
You will also need a registry editor on the phone or a PC based one. They're discussed in this forum but I cannot find them again, I've attached the one I downloaded from the forum.
I have'nt seen anything on accelerometers yet. I think that requires a hardware feature in the phone and as far as I am aware that's not built into the Touch2(Mega) model.
Accelerometer is indeed hardware. As for reg tweaks, i wouldnt recommend it if you're unsure what you're doing. MyScript Stylus offers hand writing recognition without tinkering with your registry.
Microsoft's Transcriber is another option for handwriting.. It's free and available at microsoft's website. I am using it without any problem.
you can download it from here

Hi Uppy,
Can u pls attach MyScript Stylus software?
Thanks Guys.
I've installed Transcriber and it seems to be working fine at the moment.
Hi

1. double tap at keyboard. It'll show u option.
or
2. Start > Settings > Personal > Input.
Choose Transcriber from the list
i did double tap at keyboard. Its not showing any Transcriber options
I even did . Start > Settings > Personal > Input->Choose Transcriber from the list, but after wards by default Touch Input is been selected.
I think we should do some thing to make Transcriber as default.
I got bored.
MyScript in action

Following the thread - "Letter Recognizer / Block Recognizer" sure did help.
Thanks all.

Hi, I just couldn't make it work for my HTC Touch2. Im using the WM6.5 original from HTC and the second value "It should be "0654897B-B359-473F-B28B-D85CF601C57F" (for Touch Input SIP)" is diferrent for me. Miine instead is "36BC8FF6-8241-4C36-ABDE-204885.
my device crashed after i followed all the above procedure, and i had to hard reset it to get it back, Ive tried it 3-4 times with the same unfortunate result.
Pls help, letter recogniser is a MUST for me and with the Touch2 im facing so many difficulties in my job... Thnx
@spandeli: Great find! But I dont recommend this method over mystylus, not because it doesn't work but because there are certain people who don't know what they are doing who will try this, go wrong and balls their phones up.
I mean if certain people dont know how to turn touchflo on and off (as i've seen several times, one of which even hard reset their phone cause they didnt think to look in "settings") Reg hacks are not recommended, for newbies, at least.
Installed Transcriber.cab , Chose transcriber as default. Went to text and it was still normal. When i check back at settings it seems to have gone back to Touch Input.. help?
