Hello,
after days of searching and reading in the forum I have still following question:
when I select a file in explorer with my finger or stylus, it executes that file.
e.g. I installed youtube (the question is NOT about youtube, works fine thanks to the forum) and when I want to change the mui file with the language code, it execute the file resulting in an error. Then I close the app and so it returnes to the file and then I can rename it.
Same with picture files (opens picture and then I close it), mp3,.....all files
So my question is: can I just select a file (with my finger or the stylus) without executing it?
(I can select with the down button, but in a long list this is not the way I want it)
Thanks and greetings from Belgium
Believe it or not but shortly after my question (and days of reading ) I solved it myself.
I just have to keep my finger or stylus on the file until the menu appears where I can then choose to rename the file
So sorry for the question, but maybe it can be usefulf for some other newbees.....
Greetz
tap the file and wait a while holding down finger or stylus, then you'll see a dropdown menu for that file
heh I'm late
thanks anyway kwiateusz, appreciate the fast answer
i guess you skipped the tutorial by WM at the start !!! hahaha
could be, could be hahahahaha
use direction keys or optical joystick under the screen
see
install the attached CAB in your device main memory:
it will replace the original file explorer and give you more and more functions.
one of them in options is allowing you to change the way to execute any file by double click instead of single click, which meaning you can select private pictures in front of anybody by single click without view it.
enjoy
cheers
Thanks!
Will surely install it.

Hi,
Can anyone please advise as to how to completely remove Solitaire from my XDA2i?
My eldest plays with it constantly until the battery starts beeping, then, bless the little sod, she switches it off and doesn't tell me!
Lost count of the number of times i've slept in due to battery failure....
Hi Chris,
Several things you can do:
a) removing it completely (as you requested),
b) remove the shortcut from the program menu (so unless your little treasure knows how to navigate via file explorer it will look as if it has been removed... but you'll still be able to play it),
c) rename the shortcut/ exe and change it's icon (so you'll know where it is but little treasure won't) and finally
d) password protect it so only you have access.
I'll answer a) but get back to me if any of the other options are of interest.
a) Complete Removal:-
1. use file explore to get to the folder "My Device\Windows"
2. scroll down until you see "solitare" (there may be two files, one will be the exe (the program itself) and ought to be about 50k in size and another which is simply a short cut file (lnk) to the exe). Delete both (i.e. tap and hold will bring up a menu and select delete from it) though actually only deleting the exe alone is sufficient to stop the app from being used.
3. Navigate to "My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games" and delete anything which says "solitare" etc (it'll prob be a link file/ short cut file c 15b in size which simply points to the exe file you deleted in 2 above). This will remove solitaire from being seen in the start menu /any screens where you would normally start it from.
Hope that helps.

That's great advice, except your answer is wrong.
SOLITAIRE.EXE and SOLITAIRE.LNK are ROM files, and cannot be deleted.
They can, however, be overwritten by files in the same directory.
You will need a decent File Explorer (Total Commander/Resco).
Create a new note, with some text in it, doesn't matter what, just one character will do to save memory.
Rename this file SOLITAIRE.EXE and move it to the \WINDOWS directory.
The other solution that will actually remove the file involves reflashing with a modified ROM, but that is more trouble than passwording the device ...
This answer is wrong as well. Soon as you remove fake file from /Windows directory, the previous one appears again.
Hey all, seeing as I couldnt find this topic here already, I thought that I would share with you all how to change the system font on our beloved Wizard. It is quite simple really but it does require a few things:
1-A Wizard/MDA/O2 XDA Mini S/Cingular 8125
2-A Truetype style font(they end with file extension .ttf)
3-5 minutes of time
Alright now here is how to do it!
1)-Connect your device to your computer, and let Activesync do it's thing(until the green double-arrow icon in your tray stops spinning).
2)-Click on [Explore], then on "Windows Mobile Based Device", then on "Windows". If you cannot see the "Windows" folder, goto the top of the window and click [Tools] then [Folder Options] then the [View] tab, then scroll down a bit until you find a checkbox that says-"Show Hidden Files and Folders" and make sure that it is checked(or dotted if the case may be).
3)-Now, leave that window open, and go and grab you font. Right click on the font file itself and scroll down to [Rename]. In the field, type "Tahoma" then [OK]. Now, copy that file that you just renamed, and paste it to another directory(such as the desktop so that it is easy to get back to), and rename it to-"TahomaBD" and click [OK].
4)-Now click and drag, or copy and paste those 2 files into the "Windows" folder that you have open from earlier, tell it [Yes] to overwrite the existing files if needed.
5)-Now, soft-reset your device and voila! You have a nice shiny new system font! Wonderful! Now, you may be wondering how to get your old one back, and it is indeed very simple.
6)-To restore the Tahoma font, either download a copy of it from the internet(note that it is NOTE public domain, and it is against the rules to post it here at XDA-Devs), or navigate to your computers "Font" folder and simply copy it to your desktop, and rename and copy it as above, soft-reset again and BAM, back to OEM status you go! You can also just Hard-reset if you get desperate.
Well, thats it! Quite simple eh? Took me about 30 minutes or so to figure it out, but here are some screens to prove that it works!
ROM=TNT 6.1 build 20273
I am currently using a font based of the one used in the Star Trek:The Next Generation TV series, but any Truetype font should work!
I hope someone finds this useful!-ashasaur
Thnaks you

Create a shortcut, you will get the picture automaticaly:
1. Use file explorer, find IGO.exe, press and hold the file until you get a popup menu, click "copy".
2. Go to Windows, Start Menu, click on an empty space, get a popup menu and click "paste shortcut".
3. At that point you will have shortcut to IGO8 in your All Programs list. You could add it to Programs thumbnails from there.
i lost you at number2
i managed to copy igo8.exe from file explorer. then u said go to the start menu and on a space click on it untill a pop up appears and past it. i found the space in start menu but when i click and hold on to it nothing appears. i cant paste it. help me. please show me picz if you can
thanx
its all sorted now.
i am trying to achieve the same goal - and i also have the problem that i can't paste a shortcut in my programs or on the startmenu, can someone please explain it in more detail? thx
Cant see why some of you are having problems as i just done the simple thing of pressing one of the add tabs in programs and then selecting it from the menu the creating the shortcut??? the only thing I can gather is that you guys did not use the instal cab file hence dont have both igo8 and igo8 uninstall files (shortcuts) in your native programs folder??
i want to have a shortcut to a program that is not already registered as one but is only available as runnable exe file on my storage card. The post from michael_r seemed to be a solution for this problem, however, i don't manage to follow his step 2.

Use file manager program. Change directory to device/windows/start menu. Find some empty space on the bottom half of the screen below the list of files already in the directory. Press and hold for a couple of seconds. A popup menu will appear and one of the choices will be "paste shortcut". Voila.
ahhh! thanks, now i understood it!
hi
I am sorry if this has been asked before (but I did search)
Is there any way to add suggest word(s) when typing in text, I have to type the same sentence over and over again every day and on my old phones/PDA this was not to bad as you could set the suggest word(s) to give you the next 4 works, I can't find this in the HD2 is there any way to add it
Thanks for any help
according to hint 19 in this thread:
19. Improve Suggested T9 Dictionary With Custom Words
The Leo has a very useful hidden application in the Windows directory. You need to unhide hidden system and Rom files in order to find it. Find the file "eT9MyWords.exe" in the Windows directory and add a shortcut to this file in your Windows/Start Menu folder.
When in the application, add the most common words you use when using the keypad such as names, locations, user names, email addresses and other words not common in the standard T9 dictionary. For example if you are based in London, UK you could add the following locations:
Leicester, Piccadilly, Tottenham, Soho, Charring, Euston, Trafalgar, Clapham,
and words such as BRB, DVD, coz, lol, xoxo, [email protected], ciao, etc.

I have read these tips and know about adding custom words.
What I want is for three to four words to come up to complete a sentence.
This has been in the input tap on old PDAs suggest word(s)
Hi
Is there no one Who can help with this?
Really with all the clever people on this site can no one help me
Please someone help me
Hi, i did a few tests and found...
et9mywords wont accept spaces, and although you can sneakily paste sentences into the input box, it wont save them, so that method is out.
Custom words are also found in HTCMDB.txt, and the good news is it works!
(See image)
The line 'this is a test' i hard coded into the file using my kitchen, then the 'this is a second test' i added as follows....
(I use resco explorer, i suspect the normal file manager wont do what is required, total commander probably will)
find /windows/HTCMDB.txt (it will be hidden, so show all files)
copy it to your sd card, and from there to your desktop.
(I tried editing it on the phone using windows mobile notepad, but it didnt work right)
On the PC, right click the file, properties, and untick 'read only', apply.
Open it and edit it as required.
Save it, and again right click, re apply 'read only'
Copy back to your sd card, and from teh phone use commander or resco to move it to /windows/
You will probably get a warning about rom files and what not, thats ok.
Reboot, and you should now be able to see your sentences.
PLease let me know how you get on.
EDIT - just for clarity, every entry inside HTCMDB.txt must be on its own line.
thanks for your help with this I have done as you posted and it works, it's a bit long winded but it works
thanks jason
Hi all
I'm sure this has been discussed on the forum, as it bugs the hell out of me and I suspect many others, but I could not find the right search words to find it.
Please point me in the direction of known thread (if exist)
Problem:
Saving to a USEFUL folder.
In most of the applications it uses a useless save dialog box, that only goes 1 layer deep of folders.
I save everything on to my SD card, and as a home windows user I am used to having directories for everything to keep them organised.
at the moment I have to save in /Storage card/DOCS/ then use total commander to move it to the correct place. to open a file I then need to use total commander again to find the file then open from there.
An awful set up.
Is there any programs or hacks that change that dialog box to a folder tree based dialog instead of a 1 level dropdown?
or ever a multiple of dropdowns would work?
Please help - this is driving me mad

Hey, I too hate the standard windows mobile file dialogue, but I remember finding a freeware alternative for my old phone (TyTN II) which I still had lying around on my computer. I can't remember where I got it from exactly, its called gsgetfile.dll and there's a little control panel applet to go with it. I've attached the dll to this post, just unzip to the /Windows directory on your phone. Then install File Dialog Changer, enable and voila!
EDIT: Found the site, http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=752
Thanks for that
I searched xda for file dialog changer and came across this thread:
FDC
I shall try it and hope it doesn't mess up Faria ROM........
Thanks for the suggestion
Damn! must be how Faria made her ROM. I copied the 2 files across and it made no difference at all.
Then I noticed the option in the control panel to turn it on - Doh!
