Hello!
I am using Touch dual with 20 keys keyboard, chinese version.
I have got a little problem in my H/W keyboard with Opera Mobile. Cannot input characters in address bar... only the numbers can be show.
Any idea??? Thanks!
I have an HTC Branded Touch Dual 20 Key English Version (Dont know if its WWE)
I dont have any problems typing with the keypad in abc, or XT9 in Opera mini 4 at all; I dont know how different this is from Opera Mobile. Opera Mini is a java/midlet app and I think Opera Mobile is a full blown application. Hope this helps in your research.
If you need additional information, let me know what you are looking for, like version or rom info.
Thanks

I think this is a bug in the keypad because the same thing happened to me when I was writing an SMS the other day! I closed the SMS and terminated the messaging app and then reopened and it was fine. No idea what caused it...
Nope, and it's not the first Phone where the hardware keyboard only type numbers in opera mobile.
Asus Phones with T9 Keyboards have the same problem.
So seems to be really a opera problem.
Opera mini works because keyboard is handlet by the midlet manager (jbed on the star) and not by opera itself.
Getting the same issues on my 20 Key version also.
My keyboards is using the first character on the button for example in the address bar and I right say i.e. facebook
it will display 4a718oo6
I am getting this same same problem in IE on the device.
Say I want to check my mail at yahoo mail
Username filed keyboard works fine
Password field keyboard will act like it does in the address bar in Opera.
How are you guys entering details in the password filed are you not able to use the slide out keyboard for this?
same issue on my 20 key version. However, the browser DO work with keyboard on the touch screen. In essence, our input method just got narrow down to the ones onscreen. cannot use the slide out keypad.

Another difference is that Opera Mobile ($24 USD) allows you to save image from the browser whereas the mini (FREE) does not.
Same issue here. I have installed "Goodlink" on my DUAL - same Problem. I every good application (mail, calendar, notes etc.) you cannot use the keyboard.
Also Mozilla MINIMO hv the same problem.
When type something only number are displayed.
HI, I have recently bought Touch Dual and experienced the same problem with Goodlink. Could you find a solution? Thanks

Interesting,, I thought it was just me, but my 20 key dual is the same as you describe. So far I've noticed only opera mini 4 is an issue and I've been using the on screen virtual kb for that.
I have same problem on my 16Key T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus. Hardware keyboard types numbers only in Opera Mobile, Composing/replying to email or sms. Very frustrating, have to use touch keyboard all the time.
If anyone has a fix for this, let us know!
try this...a more permanent fix would be great tho...
It happens to me when im texting to, Orange Touch, unlocked to Tmobile. I find the easiest way around it is this:
After selecting reply to a text message and then opening the keyboard to type, close the text you were going to write.
Then find the text and click on reply again.
It should then let you type letters ok. (keep the keypad open)
Bit of a pain so a fix would be great but this is what im doing to work around it at the mo.
Im guessing if you have the keypad open then opening opera would solve it.
Hope this helps.
I am the same problem, 16key, problem is with VITO SMS CHAT. Not only does the 16key not work, but also the touch keypad doesnt work, it doesnt rotate the letters but types all. example: Pressing 5(j-k-L) three times consecutively, type J-K-L, where it suppose to type L only.
I have yet to try this with opera, but haven't installed it yet.
has anyone found a fix yet for the opera problem?
I've noticed that this problem doesn't occur when using the dutch vodafone stock rom...
I can't find the needed files.
Edit: O, it seems that the problem still exist in the addresbar... the problem with entering passwords is gone though....
I had the issue where it would only use the touchpad in the address bar on the native T-Mobile ROM.
I'm now using the Opal keyboard (patched for the Nike) and everything is fine.
I bought mine in hong kong so i had some songs in chinese and it couldn't view it in chinese so i wanted to install it, so it can view chinese too but then the cleartype didn't work anymore... what should i do??
CE-Star works quite well on my Swedish system though
cleartype works?
I don't know what cleartype is. But seems everything is fine, Google map is even in traditional Chinese now.
Was your X1 originally with an English version Windows mobile, or you flashed it from another language. I really hope I could flash it from Swedish to English or Chinese.
go to start -> settings -> system -> screen -> ClearType it makes the words more clear and fine.after installing chinese thing, it doesn't look clear and fine anymore, words are more rough.
btw, does QQ work on your phone? I downloaded from Tencent homepage, installed successfully, but there is some problem with connection. I use 3G HSDPA modern, maybe not recognized by QQ, says that connection time out.
I have just activated cleartype, don't find anything changed. Words are pretty clear as also.
i installed CE-Star too, and cleartype seems to be working as normal..
one thing i noticed though is that the Sony Ericsson Music Panel does not show chinese characters, even if regional languages is set to chinese on the phone.... but TouchFlo shows it just fine.
I have CE-Star installed and Cleartype works too. Everything is crisp and clear.
And as narutoramen said, Chinese characters don't show in the SE Music Panel.
hmmm...let me reinstall it... is there cantonese pinyin in CE star?
yeah i believe there is...

My QQ dosen't work as well same problem.
I have probelm displaying Chinese texts with IE and Opera on my HTC HD Chinese version. All Chinese texts become square. I think there might be conflict with one of the softwares I have installed, but I don't know whick
I have tried with other browsers and only NetFront 3.3 works.
Is there any thing I can do to slove this problem except hard reset?
U should inform Opera about it, and ask can u change some setting from Opera maybe.
Ont only the Opera but the IE has the same problem
Hi all,
I've got a really innoying problem. Once in a while when i've used Opera 9.5 and i want to close it my whole phone freezes. I can't do anything anymore until I
soft-reset my phone. Does anyone has this problem to or am i the only one ?
I would like to reinstall Opera but since it is cooked in the standard ROM it seems not possible. Does anybody has an idea to solve this innoying problem.
Also tried the beta version Opera 9.7 (i believe) but i disliked it totally.
I really looking forward to the release of Mozilla Fennec.
But anyway.
Thanks in advance!
99.99% work east asian fonts support (incl. chinese, japanese & korean) and locale
hi friends,
i've made a cab to view chinese, japanese and korean for windows mobile (tested on my Xperia X2 WM6.5.3 and should be working fine with other versions). just install the <East Asian Fonts Support.cab> and do a soft reset. if you want to input chinese, i suggest using baidu input, plumsip or qq pinyin.
if you face difficulties in reading emails and browsing using ie, you may also need to install <Reloadnls.cab> to have the necessary code pages. ce star is using old wince.nls so please do NOT use ce star for your device or you will brick it. since wm6.5.3, the codes pages are no longer saved in registry but in wince.nls. the wince.nls is extracted from a taiwan rom (wm6.5.3) of x2.
please remember to do a full backup before installing the cabs!!
by the way does anyone have the latest wm6.5 rom for Xperia X2? many thanks!
for any issues or problems please feel free to let me know.
Thanks, good work.
great job, thx
Thanks. Hopefully this work for me too!
thanx a lot man..
can I Remove reload
Thanks a lot for your post, for Opera and IE it works great, but for outlook it still shows square, in this case can i use add/remove program to correct outlook?
Thanks.

in this case you need to choose the correct coding (e.g. unicode, BIG5, etc) for the email message, or the messages contain wrong coding which cannot be displayed correctly.
Any chance for a japanese language pack?
great job, thx

it supposes to be able to display Japanese.
my device shows Japanese correctly.
I am able to use these on my touch pro 2 with customized ROMS. It works very well until I tried to input Chinese. For all the Chinese input methods I tried, the menu of the input methods display blocks. Do you know a solution to this problem?
great works! thanks!
going to try now, look promising
you scared me. i installed CE Star (including pinyin input method) after flashing a 6.5.3 rom, and it displays chinese fonts correctly in IE, Opera, Outlook, AlReader, etc. But some fonts in S2P are messed up. But no way it would brick my Samsung Omnia2.
hi,
I installed your .cad but i faced two things:
1 - Using Opera 9.7 and i can't view japanese in google search result page, but i can view japanese when click on the link and go to target page.i do not know why
2 - Using Ressco keyboard pro 6.0, setting up second language is japanese, switch to japan keyboard and only square with a question mark within of the keypad showed up.
please help me get through this.
Thanks
Thank you for doing such a good font for us!
thank a lot ...
Can use in WM6.1 ?
I will be try for HTC Touch Daimond2.
It works pretty good!
I have searched this for quite a while, thanks for shareing.
Thank you
I've been looking for something like this. My OmniaII originally came from Hong Kong, but after I flashed it with Energy/MS Team ROMs, I lost support for east asian languages. Loading Meiryo fonts didn't help (primarily need Japanese support) much and worked very randomly. I'll give your method a try
By the way, do you know a good ime for Japanese? I've used ookii's, but I don't always have my stylus and sometimes I don't remember a kanji ^^'
I've tried CE-Star 2.8R3C, but it broke more than it fixed D: Thank god you try their software before you buy
Isn't it possible to rip the IME from a Japanese Windows Mobile 6.5(.3) unit? Something like the one used on Toshiba's or Samsung Omnia I, which actually got a Japanese version?
Great jobs!
Thanks for the apps!
