Xperia and T-mobile Data - XPERIA X1 General

Hey, i am about to purchase a Xperia X1. I am on T-mobile USA
Do i need to get the 20.00 Unlimited data ? or do i get the 5.99 Unlimited T-zones because the phone is only EDGE?
Thanks guys, great community

As far as I know, the 5.99 tzone deal is no longer available. however, the code can be found on howardforums. it pretty much works the same way as long as you have the right settings.

Technically, you're not supposed to know this.
Depending on what you need to do on your phone, you may or may not need the unlimited data plan.
If all you plan to do is use email, then you can tell the techy that you want the $9.99 100mb plan. Just tell him/her that you just want email and don't want to have to pay 24.99 for that.
If you plan on streaming media and such, then you'll need the unlimited data plan which I believe is $24.99
As far as I know t-zones is a service that offers the download of T-Mobile specific content only. It doesn't provide you internet capabilities.
Good luck!

yeah right

Just got X1 and all day try to connect to T-zones, called T-mobile, they said i should get smartphone data plan in order to use internet on this device.
Thats curious, because i had before P1i, P910i, Samsung innov8 they're all smartphones and worked with my t-zones!
BTW, t-zones is not only for special content, i was able to see whatever site, check email, use google maps. I just was not able to watch youtube clips and internet radio etc...
Any ideas?

dont get unlimited data. what you should do is:
register your tmobile account on the web, incase you havnet already
choose your phone as a razr or something
add tzones plan
set up your xperia
and voila.
theres no point in getting unlimited data, as tmobile doesnt support xperia's 3g ( i hate tmobil )
tzones has been working for me since the wizard.

same for me just get the tzones enabled on your account then go into the connection settings and change it from wap.voicestream.com to epc.tmobile.com and your good to go!

You all are lucky!
I have to purchase the Blackberry plan. But at least I have unlimited everything......but for $40 a month I had better have unlimited everything.

I'm on the 5.99 T-Zones and I have everything working. Email. web its all there. No restrictions. I'm also able to stream videos off my computer via Orb without a problem. I wish I would have gotten it when it was 2.99

Thanks guys! Everything is working with epc.tmobile.com!!!!
I didnt see this APN before, is it somewhere on t-mobile site???
I was almost going to get that unlimited or try 9.99 plan :-E

Guys I need help with tzone settings.
I have HTC Touch Pro and have 9.99 web2go plan.
It was working fine but since last 2 weeks I am not able to use 9.99 data plan.
In order for data plan to work on my HTC Touch Pro I had installed tmobyjoe599 cab
Any help is appreciated.

Cingular 8125 Questions! What's GPRS?

My phone was connected to GPRS for 30 mins... Is that the medianet connection? I only have the 5mb Medianet program. Could I go online whenever I want without extra charge?
I'm not with Cingular, but i'm assuming that Medianet is what the GPRS connection is called.
And depending what type of usage you will be doing with your 8125 and what programs you have installed that automatically connect, 5mb might not be enough and you'll end up with additional charges on your bill.
If you plan on surfing the web via Medianet?gprs, get your emails sent to your device etc...i recommend getting more than 5 mb.
There are some registry hacks that would allow you to disble GPRS connecting at all...but to be able to do that, you will need to do some research and get to know your phone a lil better before you go and try to play around with Registry settings
Cingular MediaNet
GPRS and Edge are Cingular's MediaNet
I'm just planning to surf the internet with my 5mb. So it wouldn't be enough? What about the MMS. I have unlimted but in order to open them I have to get on medianet when I'm on wifi I can't download them.
I feel your pain... I have Cingular too and well 5MB is enough for a smartphone web-browser, but for a PDA-phone like the Wizard (8125) even with VERY light browsing and e-mail you're going to pass that by in about 2 weeks. I recommend going with one of Cingular's PDA connect plans the 20MB should be enough. I have the unlimited plan because 1: they gave me a phone discount for having it and 2: because I've gon over 100MB already and I've only had the phone for a week and a half ^_^ By the way about that MMS issue. I don't think that you get charged for the raw data transfer on MMS they just charge per message and since you have the unlimited MMS plan you shouldn't be charged at all for them. I used to have a Motorola Mpx220 witht the exact same plan that you have and I don't think that's changed at all. Hope that helps ^_^
medianet
unless you need vpn, just upgrade your medianet to unlimited and don't breathe a word about pda connect or they may switch you without your asking (and medianet unlimited is 20 cheaper than pda unlimited)
ask for a Media Net Unlimited plan which is 19.99 and add a text message plan of your likeing. I have 1000 for 9.99. Media Net is for smartphones, but if you get the *right* representative that wont know any better
I have the Cingular 2125 (smartphone) now with the unlimited data plan for it ($19.99). I just purchased a 8125 PPC, will I still be able to have unlimited internet acces on the 8125 for my current $19.99?

can i change basic plan to data plan? us t-mobile MDA

I received US T-Mobile MDA from Gartha Wireless. I told them that i want sk data plan, but they gave me basic plan, so i cant use instant messanging, etc (it will charge me if i use IM, email)...
I called t-mobile, i told them that i want use sk plan for MDA, they not accept sk plan for MDA, but they told me that i can use total internet plan 49.99 a month for MDA or replace to sk3...
so is there way that i can use data plan that include instant messanging, email?
Thanks
FYI: im little good at english, but ill do my best
My recommendation would be to phone them and switch the plan to the blackberry plan - whether you use BB or not it gives you access to the web and data at a lower cost than the internet plan.

If the SIM works for phone calls it should work for data. Provided of course you actually have a data plan with t-mobile and the correct settings in your connection settings.
I had the t-mobile sidekick unlimited plan.... and i called trying to see what was wrong and they said the sidekick plan only worked on a sidekick.... So for it to work on the 8125 i would have to get unlimited internet whice for 29.99... and i was paying 20.0 a month for unlimited internet email aim so what should i do unlimtied text itself is 14.99

I guess it depends what you want to use it for - True internet which means the 29.99 plan, some people have had some joy with the blackberry plan though I have recently had to change because T-Mobile appears to be cutting people off using that on the MDA/8125. If you pick the internet plan then you can use a messaging program which uses GPRS to send messages rather than the crappy text messaging (sms) product that comes with the MDA/8125.

Can any confirm or deny if T-mo is cutting users with the BB plan off or making them switch to the $30/month plan? Also, has anyone tried using the $5.99 "T-mobile Web" data plan with their MDA/8125? Does it function just like a normal GPRS connection or does the portal limit ports (i.e. AIM ports for chatting). Thanks.

Getting Internet on the wing.

I just switched from t-mobiles Sidekick Lx to this Wing, and i was wondering if there was anyway i can get the internet to work on this phone. thanks.
Yes jsut call T-Mobile and ask for the data plan, they will add it to your account and tell you when its on and your good to go!
I didnt' want to swtich to the data plan cause it didnt' include free text messages. I was hoping to use the sidekick internet until my contract was over.

Nah, it's a separate data plan I believe.
The only way you are gonna be able to use the internet w/o getting Tmo's data plan is if there is wifi available.

Guys I need help with tzone settings.
I have HTC Touch Pro and have 9.99 web2go plan.
It was working fine but since last 2 weeks I am not able to use 9.99 data plan.
In order for data plan to work on my HTC Touch Pro I had installed tmobyjoe599 cab
i tired both: epc.tmobile.com and wap.voicestream.com
Any help is appreciated.
Try internet2.voicestream.com. It's what I use on my AT&T Fuze with T-Mobile and I have had a problem connecting to the internet on my Fuze.
T-Mobile is trying to put a stop to people using the web2go ($9.99 plan) on their unlocked non-T-Mobile devices, such as I-phones and unlocked Fuzes etc.. They are wanting us to upgrade to at least the $24.99 data plan for it to work on these unlocked devices.
That is what the customer service rep told me anyways, so I went ahead and upgraded my data plan anyways.
Thanks a lot.....
internet2.voicestream.com
worked ...........
I used the tmobyjoe599.cab for the $9.99 web2go plan
what I had to change is from wap.voicestream.com. to: internet2.voicestream.com
rock on...........
