Heya,
I just got an HTC HD.
I copied my contacts from my old phone to the SIM card.
Entered the SIM card to the HTC HD.
To enter e-mail adresses, photos, ringtones etc, the contacts have to be copied on to the HTC HD.
So I copied them all.
But now they are showing all double in my adresbook. It displays the contacts that are on the SIM card and the contacts that are on the phone.
Is there a way to filter the contacts off my screen without deleting them from the SIM card?
Thanks in advance.

Different ways to get around this.
1. Go to contacts/menu/view and then select either sim or contacts
2. Install 3rd party apps like Advanced Config or HDTweak where you can disable or enable the display or sim contacts
EDIT 1
I have attached both of these for you. Maybe worth installing anyway as they have numerous other tweaks which are very useful
EDIT 2
Also, maybe worth reading the wiki...........lots of useful information
thanx

Are your duplicate contacts through another mail provider, i.e. hotmail?
If through Hotmail you maybe getting duplicate contacts when you sync hotmail through windows live. Go to Windows Live and change your setup so contacts are merged instead of duplicated.

I like to have all my contacts saved onto my phone so I can add pictures and other info to the contact infromation that it doesnt allow you to do if it is just on the sim card... I also like to keep all my contacts on my sim card in case the phone crashes and I need to pull the sim and switch phones.. here is my problem. Since I have my contacts on both my phone and my sim, they show duplicates in the contacts list. Is there any way to filter out the sim card contacts so I dont have 2 of everyone(1 on phone, 1 on sim)??

Hi all
I copied my contacts over from my sim but now am left with 2 sets of contacts how do i get ride of the sim contacts(can i use shcapps)
Thanks
Robert
Double, triple contacts are caused by outlook. In sinchronizations settings on PC u have to make update items on pc, not pda.Something like that. I dont use that by myself. Hope u will fix it.
U can use schaps for sim contacts.
Use the SIM Manager that is in Programs (can also be accessed from within Contacts). That should allow you to delete contacts from the SIM card quickly.
Thanks
Used shcapps tool to get rid of them

Both from the same device.
I believe it is currently displaying the Outlook and MSN contacts.
Any way to make it ONLY show the Outlook contacts?
It's a known bug with activesync i know from old Hermes times. If you have this problem the fu..k will double the contacts each synchronizing.
Recommend new sync installation and new start-up synchro.
Yes, one list is from your Outlook contacts, and the other appears from your MSN list when you sync.
Go into the Windows Live sync options and de-select the Store WL Contacts.
I'm not sure if this will delete the doubledup contacts, but will prevent further download of MSN contacts in the future (so you might need to tidy up yoiur contacts list just once).
Cheers guys!
I will try it out tonight. Will let you know of any developments i have.!
Cheers!
Sam
Anyone know why both tick boxes are un-untickable for me?
If you delete your hotmail/live/msn ID in Windows Live options. When you recreate your ID the checkboxes shouldn't be greyed out. It seems to be a one time only choice.

i have this, but i think its phone contacts, andcontacts saved to the sim card.

As far as I know, that only syncs the phone contacts. I think you need third-party SIM manager software.
For example this. Do google search to find more programs. I've never dealt with this, and maybe there is some registry hack or setting on the HD that will allow it. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
EDIT: What you could do is transfer the sim contact to your phone. Then it will sync along with all the other contacts. To do that, just go to your contacts and tap on a sim contact to select it. Press Menu--Save Contact
You can edit information and when your done, it will create a copy and save it as a phone contact. The sim contact will still be there.
Through Dashwire which is a free online back up programme which does work with HTC HD you can sync the contacts onto a webpage, delete, edit do whatever you like with them and sync them back plus you have a permanent back up of them online - may be of some use?
Anyone else getting every entry twice in the contacts list in SMS? I've selected contacts only in the options on the people tab, and i've enabled the hide SIM contacts fix in BsB Tweaks, both made no difference. I even applied the new SMS hotfix, still the same.
Hi ! Me too ... Any suggestions ? Thanks~
Be careful! Do not just delete one of the two.. Here that resulted in a mass SMS loss where I had to restore from MyPhone.
Open up Outlook and see if the Contacts are all double. That just happened with me too. I deleted every second contact from the two listed there and now it's all ok again.
Right well it's definitely a case of it's showing both SIM contacts and phone contacts, rather than a general duplication. I proved this by adding a contact on the phone (but not the SIM), and it only showed that contact once in the SMS contacts.
Yes I still have this problem too. I have asked about this previously......

......but I still can't get this one sorted out!
Did you guys synch with MyPhone? Maybe that caused the duplications.
Oh, sim contacts.. Yeah..
I just 'fixed it' by deleting ALL my SIM contacts and syncing with MyPhone every time I install a new rom or hard-reset.
Well there is that, but i'm looking for more of a cure than a remedy!
Is there a tweak in registry or something that we could do to fix it? Anyone?

deleting your sim contacts IS the cure. sim contacts are a throwback to when phones didn't have their own phone book so all contacts were sim contacts.
the problemwith sim contacts used that if you update a contact, then restore from sim (or just as annoying merge from sim) then you end up with thee wrong details for that contact.
best to just get rid off the sim ones altogether.
Agreed, but the sim contacts are there as a backup, if for example you have to put it in another phone for any reason. Anyway, you can select which contacts to display in the phonebook contacts list, so why shouldnt we able to apply the same choices to the contact list displayed in messaging? Just thought someone with registry knowledge could work out a fix maybe?

deleting SIM contacts isn't the cure my dear. People save their contact in their SIM for reasons. For me, Its in case of emergency... e.g my HD2 suddenly broke down (OMG!!) and I desperate need to call someone WHICH I DON'T REMEMBER THE NUMBER, then in this case i can simply remove the SIM card from my HD2 and slide it in any phones that i can find on that time. And I'm quite sure there's lots of HD2 users out there which share the same thought with me
SO... still the same thing... Is there a CURE??? desperately need it...
i have this problem, did anybody work this out?
