you will not find application outside Market. You should buy a wifi router and stop spamming.
Thats not entirely true... They have a backup of several APKs at android-dls. You need to enable Non-Market installation though (Settings -> Applications-> First Checkbox). Hope this helps!
P.S. They're only free apps obviously

I already did enable the non-market..
I will try to go to that forum now to download this app installer to be able to install files with .apk ..
Right ?
I cant find the app. installer anywhere on the internet ..
Anyone knows where it may be located ?
You can just use Astro or Linda File Manager to browse your SD card for the .apk file.
Or, you can always just browse the website and download the .apk files from your phone and open them in the download manager.

Ive downloaded 1000's of apps and games for Android. Ive copied a few to my SD card but I cant seem to get to them when booted up in Android. Any one know how this can be done e.g. a short cut? Or is this not possible due to the market place activation?
Sorry if this has been answered before but i cant find it...
Any help would be great.
Cheers

Use DroidExplorer to install them, and make sure that "unknown sources" in application settings is selected.
I have found Dropbox is the easiest way to install apk files.
I have completely replaced, Astro, AndroZip, and Installer with.... Open Explorer. It does everything all 3 do, plus it enables bowser downloads without causing issues with Gmail attachments.
Great program.

Sent from my DROID HD2 with XDA.
The other day My phone died completely so I did a hard reset.
Everything fine but for some reason I can not access my google/market place.
To get to my apps, I have to sign in through the market using my google account, Using the one I always try I can an error and also get it when I try to create a new one.
"Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server." Please contact your date provider.
Called T-mobile (UK) they have no idea, Tried some other forums which gave me an .apk but this doesnt work as It doesnt have a T-mobile UK setting... This is what I was given
---------------------
Market Enabler available for download at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18721949/ch....tenabler-1.apk
Download Market Enabler, copy to device, tap to install
Open ME, select Settings List
Tap and hold on a carrier
select "fake this provider now" > allow"
------------------
This doesnt work as When you go to settings list It doesnt show UK carriers (Mine is T-mobile) and the ones there dont work.
Any help appriciated.
-------------------------
PS. The phone signs in to youtube fine.
Very wierd.
I can make calls, texts use internet and sign into youtube so Sim card is fine
Im gonna only go down the flashing route if I have to, Reason = many people have had this problem after flashing so it might not even fix it.
I called T-Mobile UK and they took me in through some kind of settings with gprs as name? Didnt work though
I got the same problem. After an another wipe, it works well. Can´t not understood the reason, but ok, now it´s is working.
Try Clearing the caches and clearing any data in the market app.
to clear the cache you can do it through any CWM enabled kernal.
to clear the market data, go to
settings>applications>manage applications>market>wipe data
you may need to show all the apps
after that, reopen the market it should ask you again if you agree to the terms just accept and it should work.
hope this helps
Whats this mean?
"CWM enabled kernal"
Tried those options guys but still the same unfortunetely
Tried the market fix posts .
or the market fix in SGS tools .
CWM enabled kernal"
Clockwork Mod Recovery enabled within the kernal .
jje
Explain those please?

SGS Tools on market or from Perkas File stash STICKIE .
http://perka.zapto.org/

Looks like some pretty advanced stuff Ill have a good look later. Bare in mind im a complete novice compared to people on here. But not that bad I cant do it.;
The last link you put up has barcode scan apps and of course this is totally useless considering when I use barcode app scanner it takes you straight to the market which is my sole problem
SGS tools download from Perkas stash .
Copy from PC to sd card open phone my files and find app and install .
But it does require a rooted phone .
jje
What do I download and where is it?
LOADS of folders there.
Ok Im guessing Ive got to download this Perak's File Stash ?
I cant find an .apk for it on google though, and finding it in that website is not happening?
The apk is under Samsung / APK /
jje
Ok will give it a try, Ill be back for advise as I have no idea how to use it. I downloaded that SGS Tools by finding the .apk but after using the "marketfix" It still didnt work.
dont know if I did it right though....
I'm really really excited...! This is my dream tablet, I've been waiting for this for over a month. And now its finally mine! But there is a problem, since I've no WiFi network in my house(for now), how can I install applications. I know the android applications are .apk format, but I don't know from where to download them. I got the file manager HD .apk file but I don't know how to install it. Please help!
Youll have to root your tablet then you can install apks locally. Alternatively you can try easy installer. You will need a internet connection as its required by the Market to install apps.

I don't think you have to root to install apps locally... as long as you have the unknown sources option checked, you can install apps from wherever you want. If you have a desktop with internet that you can get to, you can download the apk's from various torrent sites, and I think there is a web version of the android market? I'm sure there are other places as well, just search on Google. anywhooo, then just transfer the file over to your A500 via the USB cable or flash drive, and open the file through the app manager option that pops up when you tap on it, then click install.
I have had no problem download APKs onto my desktop computer and then putting them on a Micro SD card to use on the A500 without having to root anything.
u can use Docs to go to navigate to .apk on your tablet and launch instal from there. Thats my way)

Congrats on getting your Inconia!
For apps like the filemanager you could just download them from the Android marketplace, then they would install themselves. Otherwise, place them on your sd card if you're downloading to your PC first. Apps will also install if they are in your download folder on the tablet (say for example, if you download from the dev's website or email them to yourself as an attachment).
One thing you might have to do first is check the setting that allows you to install "unsigned" third-party app. I believe it's: Setting->Applications->Unknown Sources.
From what I understand, there's not much concern of installing something harmful anymore (for which this setting was designed to protect against), but I could be wrong. Just be careful who you are getting the app from if it's not from the market, a dev's site or a reputable person here at the forum.
That's my $.02 Have fun!
Just get a home network!
Enjoy your Iconia....I love mine!
Congratulations
- No need to root for installing apk, just check the checkbox (the Iconia will told you what you have to do anyway)
- Get a wifi quick

Yeah, it would work fine. I did it for UberMusic Beta. Just gotta' go to Settings, Applications then allow access for apps that aren't from the market. Same goes for any Android phones you might have.
it worked
You are correct ! There is the option in setting to allow unknown apps . Thanks and BTW , I LOVE MY THRIVE !!!!! AMAZING AND IT IS LIGHT TO HLD AS WELL
unable to install 3rd party apps
When I click on an apk that's on my SD card I get an error that say "there is no associated application for this file type" any clue what happened here???
non-market app install problems?!?
I'm confused. I selected the "allow non-market" toggle in my settings. Nothing special needed. Am I missing something?

Well you already did it then. Now you can install Android apps from places like here, XDA, or other places that's not Android Market place. It still has to be an android app, an APK. I think some people confusing that it means you can download and install any OS app. Lmao that's not the case. If you they to install something not meant for android, it'll throw up an error or whatever.

Root Manager and Astro are good file managers. Opera is a good web browser that works on the Nook
thanks a lot... but when i go on search (in market) they didn't work... why?
It doesn't work, it is broken somehow. Go to market, open apps menu, all, the best free, downloas opera and file manager. Then if you want to install app from market google opera "appbrain (app you want to download)", hit first one, and on top you should find a link to market, click it, and download app form market.
Other method is to use market.android.com
another solution is download it from pc
last question... when i download a file from opera it says "you haven't a card insert... insert one and try again" can i fix this problem?
i solved...
can you talk me about a wi fi manager (support enterprise wifi) and a good pdf reader for nook?
i have downloaded an application for web, and when i try to install it, it says "for security, your phone is set to block installation of application not sourced in android market"
how i solved it?
Assuming you rooted with Touchnooter you can enable non-market installs in Nook Color Tools
i've tried to uncheck-check again the options and it works fine...
thanks a lot
last problem
for connect nook at my school i need to set proxy...
i've tried do install trasparent proxy but it says "no iptables binary found on your ROM" can i solved it?
i've try app called "proxy settings" but it doesn't work...
you have solution for set proxy?
(i've solved wep enterprise problem with "WiFiAdva", but now, for connect i need proxy setting)
Have you try another version of the Android market? It can help
if you have a name of a "program for proxy" say it....
i'll search and install it....
