Hi there,
When I bought my o2 XDA about 2 years ago, they were doing an offer and gave me CoPilot for free. It came on a MicroSD card.
Can I just slot this into my X1 and install it on the phone? Or is it only for the o2 XDA phone?
Also, when it is installed, will I always have to have the SD card in there?
Thanks,
Amnesia
Hi,
I got the same software with my Orbit and it works fine on the X1.
You don't need to have the mSD card that came with CoPilot in the X1 as long as you copy the files on that card across to the new 4gb one in the X1.
Or, just insert the CoPilot CD in the drive on your PC, install it and then you can install it to you X1 that way.
Make sure you deactivated it on your previous device though!
Thanks for the help. It says for "Windows Mobile 5" though, this will still work on 6.1 right?

Hi All,
I just received a Hitachi 4GB Microdrive but it looks that it cannot be recognised by my O2 XDAII v.1.60.00 WWE version.
In Win XP it is recognised by my card reader as formatted with FAT32 and shows 4GB capacity. Works properly.
When inserted in the Backpack, I am prompted for the driver (atadisk.dll) but after entering it, nothing happens. No extra Storage file added. Nothing.
Hitachi Support site says that the newer drivers are included in Win Mobile.
The threads in the Forums don't help much to solve the problem.
Anybody has solved it? Is the 4GB microdrive compatible or not?
Could somebody throw any help at this? :?:
Many Thanks,
Gear :?
Update, 16 Sept. 2004
Two months later and looking through ALL threads for the Microdrive in this site and the respective links, the only thing discovered was a picture of a 340(?) MB Microdrive inserted in the Backpack.
I assume (mentioned in another thread) that up to 2 GB the Microdrive should work but I am not willing to buy a second one to find out.
No luck though for the 4GB Microdrive up-to-date.
If anybody knows anything different, please post a reply.

Backpack and 4GB Microdrive
Did anyone actually manage to solve this one? I've just got hold of a 4GB drive and can't get it recognised in the XDA2 at all
David
the XDA series has only been tested by o2 with cards upto 1gb. there is no garuntee it will work.
what about partising it in to two 2gb drives or 4 1gb drives? might work?

cheers
from an o2 shop......yes the backpack will fit the xda 2 and 2 i as they are the same casing but it will not fit the xda2s
IT WORKS
Could someone kindly post here the driver(s) file(s) of the XDA 2s for the disk?
There are two files on my XDA II both in the \Windows directory:
1)atadisk.dll dated 23 Feb. 2004 & size 16.5 k
2)AtaDisk.dll dated 15 March 2004 & size 18.5 k
but none of them can see the 4GB Microdrive.
Many thanks for the help.

i'm not suprised the xda 2s cannot recognize the 4gb microdrive in a backpack.......
the xda2s is not compatible with the backpack!!!
further more..... the backpack and microdrive need no drivers .... they are plug and play!!
IT Works.
I meant the drivers of the XDA 2i which seem to be newer than the ones in my XDA II.
Sorry for the confusion.

again:.......drivers????? the backpack plugs on... tyhje card goes in... it works no drivers neededc or provided... are you talking about the rom etc?

It is not that simple on the XDA II. The backpack plugs OK and is recognised but on the insertion of the microdrive it asks for drivers. It is not recognised as "plug 'n play". At least my 4GB Hitachi Microdrive. The exisiting drivers (above mentioned) in the XDA II, are not working to recognise the drive.
I suppose that in the new 2003 O/S the drivers recognise the drive. Hence my request for the newer ones.

i believe ur best option would be to forget about drivers and to update ur rom
Hi All
I have the xda mini s. Can someone please tell me which version of TOM TOM mobile I should be ordering from their website as the mini is not listed on their devices. I've read quite a few posts saying that it works on my device...so which device on their list is the most compatible with my device?
I hope this makes sense...
Thanks in advance.
al
It is tomtom 5.21 for PDA not mobile...
Hi
Thanks for the reply. However, that version seems only to come with an SD card - how do I get a Mini SD card version?
Thanks
al
thats the problem i found, tomtom only do it on a sd card, not a problem, you just copy all the stuff off it on to your mini sd.
tho your still left with a sd that costs you thats not really needed.
tomtom dont just supply it on a disk, well not when ive looked and asked before on here, stupid really
thanks fil
just found webiste pdamods.com who charge you £10 extra for a mini SD version...
cheers
al
dunno what size mini sd they give you with it for the £10, but i would look for a bigger one seperatly,
(£40 fora 2gb sandisk off ebay these days)
then copy the tomtom syuff to it,
that way you still have room for other stuff and no need to swap mini sds all the time, as they are a bit small and easyish to lose, well id lose them
Firstly I should say Hi now I have finally registered here after lurking for a while
Please excuse me if you have seen this posted on another site too, I really need help with this
When I put my SD card into my card reader or laptop (I have tried it on both), I get the message "The Disc in drive E: is not formatted, would you like to format it now?" So I press yes and it says... "The Disc in Drive E: Cannot be formatted".
Any ideas?
This is so frustrating, I know I can install things through activesync but I am trying to put TomTom back on which I need to do via the card reader. (BTW, I would never have got TomTom installed the first time around if it wasnt for this site )
Please help.
Are you using a fairly recent USB2 card reader or one you've had for a while. If its not a new one then you're probably going to have problems with a 2G sd card.
I bought it off ebay about a month ago. so it should be fairly modern, it doesnt work in the slot in my laptop either. I know that 2 gig cards are ok on the laptop as I use the camera SD with it no problems.
I have used SK Tools to reformat it, having done this I lost all my programs on the phone so I had to hard reset. After this I can open up the stoarge card on the laptop but when I try to copy my Tomtom over it comes up with a 'write-protection' error, no problems moving cab files over and installing via activesync. Although I cant install TomTom this way because of the file conversion.
Im wondering now if maybe the SK tools format did the job and maybe my problem lays with Tomtom, it worked before though so I just dont understand it.
Thanks for your reply. I shall have to try that program.

I had some problems with a 4gig sd card showing as write protected like yours.
I solved it by putting a folded piece of the thin backing film from a screen protector on top of the sd card when I put it in the reader.
The write protection is a small contact inside the reader and it just needed this extra packing to put a bit of pressure on the contact to make a connection.
after doing that for a week it now does not need the film so I assume that the contacts inside the reader were either a bit dirty or had some sort of coating that has now worn off.
Worth a try ??
Thanks, I really dont think its the card reader though as it doesnt work on my laptops SD slot either, and when I try to take the files for Tomtom over via Activesync it does the same thing. Installing Cab files is fine though. Im starting to think its a TomTom problem, which is odd as it worked before on my old card, both Sandisk Ultra II.

I'm having problems with my SD 2gb card from SanDisk (made in China) , the data is corrupted . Just bought a Kingston 2gb, made in Taiwan, slightly thicker than de SanDisk (just the feeling I think) and hope that the problem stays away. Are there more people that have the same problem with de HTC P3600 (HTC Trinity, SPV M700) in combination with a sd mini card? I've send a mail to de customer service yesterday and received an automatic reply. Now it is waiting for an answer. I have the hope it is just a small parameter in the setting of the PDA. When I let the PDA go to standby itself after 2 minutes it seems to be OK for now at least. Please give me some reactions from P3600 owners! Look at this link for the same problems on the Artemis: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285511
problem with mini SD
Hy
it seems that P3600 have several problem with mini SD.
first of this expencive pocket diamond does not like all kind fo mini SD..moreover i used a kingston 2GB and it was working well since 3 days ago...then BLACK OUT.
The pocket pc soes not see the mini sd anymore!!
Why? I really do not know, but i'm not the only one who is experienced in this beautiful situation!
HTC says that the problems with the artemis and the sd-card are depending on a software bug together with WM5, and they are working on it. I think, it is the same bug with the trinity
I have a microSD with miniSD Adapter, and is corrupted, and the size of corrupted data is increasing day after day ....
After few days I need format this f***ing card ..... I hope HTC fix this bug soon !!!!!!
Alex13
it happened to me couple of times with a trascend mini sd 2gb.
it really really sucks.
coming from a Mac only world sometime I feel throwing the trinity down a bridge is the best thing to do... I'm not used to crashes and corruption.
But hey, it's the only way to actually use skype when I'm around...
anyway, last week I've installed Trinity Hacks 0.2 a free app that modify the registry, one of the functions is to fix SD compatibility.
I didn't have problems since
This is what HTC told me:
Thanks for your email regarding your P3600. The SanDisk Ultra II 2gb mini SD card is not compatible with the device. Instead of an Ultra card you need a standard mini SD card with no more than 2GB.
I bought a Kingston 2GB and it's running a few days without any problem, keeped my fingers crossed while typing this!
I think I have the fix, instead of re-formatting the card connect the trinity (or data card) to your PC, make sure you can see hidden files and folders, search for a folder/directory starting "MSM". Delete this folder and all the files that have become an issue become unlocked.
Sorry if some one else has posted this fix, just saved myslef hours re-installing TomTom by doing this.
Hope this helps
Graham

ph gosh, i've been trying for a year almost. i've been trying with tomtom 6, i downloaded like 6 different ones all from different sites. I then had the thought 'maybe tomtom 6 uses more memory than tomtom 5' so i downloaded many versions of tomtom 5 too, but same result, Then i was borrowing my mates tomtom 910, i got the smart idea of copying his memory card, put it directly into my xda IIi and it worked BUT same way as all the others, crashes back to the today screen. somtimes with the error message 'data type misalignment' or 'memory access violation'
Last night i finally found out how to 'cook' roms, so i downloaded a custom rom, with all the o2 stuff stripped out, and the camera fixes with new bluetooth and radio versions.
result - same.
then i worked out how to remove the clearvue suit completley, myself!
and the outcome - same!!!! it still crashes back just like first time.
i think there is one last thing to try, to get a faster sd card, ive been using a 1GB Kingston SD, 2GB Sandisk Mini SD with adapter, 1 GB sandisk MiniSD with adapter, 512MB Sandisk transfalash with adapter, i've heard, well read, that transcend 80x cards do the magic, as it can read and write information much faster, therefore using less system memory/ram. im going to buy a 2GB transcend 150x from the shop on friday and this will be my final attempt. if it happens again, then im gona throw this junk out of my window, run outside, then run it over, reverse, and run it over again....
sorry, its just i spent too much time on this thing to work.
im getting the feeling that its the xda IIi that is faulty? as tomtom worked perfectly on my nokia n80 which i replaced with this xda so i can get touch screen!
hope you have fun, i have only ever had one version of both 5-6 they both run perfectly from a cheapo 512mb card and a cheap 2gb kingston card the cards i have are nothing special. think the 2gb was £12.99 from play.com
you using original versions or *coughcrackcedcough*,you are installing them correctly by replacing the files and suck, also you are using the correct maps for the version?.
i am runing sbp pocket plus and clock at the same time, no probs on my xda2i or my dads xda2.

How or what did you do too remove the clearvue files??
By deleting clearvue from a custom rom & then cook the rom back I guess?
