Is it possible to watch YouTube videos on my Vario II? Ideally, I'd like to simply browse to the YouTube website and watch them there.
There is http://tinytube.net/ but I have yet to be able to watch any of the movieclips...
I have used http://vixy.net/flv_converter to convert them and allow them to be downloaded. Not ideal.

i second tinytube, seems to work quite well...plus you are saving the files, not just streaming
So you are able to stream the files?
My WMP says it cannot open the stream...
I use the latest version of Orb and I can search YouTube and play videos.

Oh no, i should rephrase that. I'd rather download than stream, so the fact that I can only download them isn't an issue.
Orb is the key, also you should use Core Media player to play video files.
hi,
what is orb?
the tinytube thingi does not work with my hermes with htv 1.35
Check out Orb at http://www.orb.com

I thought Orb required you to use your full-size PC to find the YouTube video, download it, convert it, and store it on your PC before you can log in to your PC through your PDA to stream a converted version? If that's the case, why not just download the movie and convert it with any other video conversion util?

You are mistaken. Through the mycast.orb.com website you can search for YouTube videos and it will start streaming it over your connection(with the PC working in the background to convert on the fly).

Is anybody else having issues where they get the audio but no video for You Tube videos through Orb? I have tried with WMP and with Core Media Player.
dopod 838pro here. and yes, audio only. no video. hope we get a fix!
Make sure you have all the codecs installed on your PC:
http://support.orb.com/support/solution.jsp?sol=144
Once I did this mine was fine. I believe mine was missing the codecs for Google Video, and once I installed them it worked great!
Just go to http://www.mymobileclips.com on your pc or http://wap.mymobileclips.com on your phone.
Youtube, Google Video, Metacafe, and Dailymotion videos available for browsing and downloading.
Has anybody tried using the following to download and view Youtube videos on their Wizard?
http://video.qooqle.jp/dl/
http://www.download.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-2194_4-10267151.html

how did u get to view you tube on your 8125? i have orb 2.0 and it keeps asking me for some codecs.
You have to download certain codecs and install them from there website. The codec that i installed to get the youtube videos to play was the ffdshow codec.
what do you guys mean? go to tinytube.net on your phone and you can download any video from 6 different sources, including, google, myspace, and break just to name a few.
its awesome

I second that. Nothing to install, just download away.

You CANNOT view youtube videos with tinytube.net. Plus it seems im always being queued to view a damn video. Orb is faster compared to the quality...only downside is you have to have your computer running. Which I dont find to be a problem personally
but most youtube videos are on google and myspace anyway
It seems that none of the offered solutions properly play streaming video. Anyone found any other way to do so?

I followed these instructions and the work very very well on my WM6 Kaiser.

Kind of off topic, but a little similar... Is anyone having problems downloading streaming media from these sites? I have an AT&T Tilt and whenever I click on a streaming link that is flashed based, Realplayer will come up and tell me this file format is not supported. But, there is no option anywhere to uninstall this thing! I also tried adding all associations /w TCPMP but still no luck. Anyone else running into this?
Recently I spotted Youtube Mobile and it mentions as long as your device support rtsp, just click the video and I should be able to view the video http://www.youtube.com/blog?entry=sAyN42I_HMI.
I tried it and it is not working for me.
How can I watch Youtube video on my P3600i English version?
Do I need to modify any settings on my Streaming Media V2.10 application?
Is this a current mobile carrier issue or is just my P3600i's settings?
Please help me out if you've experienced this same problem.
Thanks,
mtao

I need you to do a test on a new method and technique for 3gp rtsp:// websites found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365248.
The only solution that i found for streaming youtube video in my p3600 is vTap you can search and play the video directly fom this program you don't need to go to youtube web page.
m.uk.youtube.com Thats the mobile youtube address, works fine on my p3600, the videos stream fine, altho the sound can be a bit funny. Dunno if that helps anyone.

Anyone else try the little youtube button in coreplayer? Any video I open says "Unknown file format." Why do they have a youtube player if it cannot play youtube videos?
I'm still looking for the best way to watch youtube videos.
Thanks!
But it can play youtube videos, at least on my phone.
Are you playing them through coreplayer itself? When I browse youtube through opera it opens the videos through the streaming video player, but not coreplayer.
I believe that some of the YouTube formats have stopped working in CorePlayer as YouTube have played about at their end.
Had heard that a fix had be built for UIQ, but haven't got around to looking to see if a new version is out for WinMo

Yes. I haven't watched that many videos (it's not a regular thing for me) but the few I've watched were all played by the coreplayer itself.
OT:
I do have some problems with podcasts. does anybody know of any good podcast client for WM.
Thanks, well I just bought it recently so will have to wait for an update I guess. Also, does anyone else experience freezes in coreplay when changing videos? It doesn't happen everytime for me, but sometimes it freezes and I have to do a reset.
Hi,
First off, I have done my research! I promised... looked through the posts (Wiki page/Tips & Tricks..) and can't seems to find anything pertaining to this.
What I'd like to know is:
- Is there a way to view YouTube video embedded in a webpage (Web Browsing using Opera Browser that comes with my HD2) by using the inbuilt HTC YouTube app - Eg. tap on the YouTube video on a webpage, HTC YouTube app starting automatically to play the video.
Thanks in advance!
Douglas
Ps. HD2 ROCKS!!!
Hi
As far as i Know (my HD2 is on its way and my HD on Ebay ) the opera doesn't have a flash support yet but the IE mobile browser on HD2 does have flash embedded which means that you get a flash player startet by tapping on your video
I've seen that also on a review on youtube....
Cheers,
LEE
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I'm really want this to work in Opera browser... I suppose such is life...
works perfectly in Opera 10 Beta 2...click the video and it opens in the streaming player.

Hi... Did u have to install anything other than Opera 10 B2? As I'd just tried it out, and YouTube content on the webpage just shows a place holder with text showing "Plug In Content"... Did I do something wrong..?
As far as I'm aware, the only browser which allows this is Skyfire. I use that for video and Opera for all other browsing (as Skyfire is a bit pants really).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
Check out that thread. If you follow all the steps, you can also watch youtube and other flash sites in Opera.
It's also possible with IE and Skyfire.
I would prefer when browsing youtube, that it would open the youtube application, which gives better quality and speed.
The only way I've found for the youtube app to work is to stream from m.youtube.com with opera.
That's the only way I've got it to work its not the best as I hate the layout of mobile youtube but it works, like you, the youtube site on opera doesn't show any clickable links or videos for the hd2's youtube client to work with.
Well yes, I meant on m.YouTube.com, and other mobile sites. On a mobile after all.

And with Opera 10 final?
Tks!
youtube works on Opera 10 without need for m,
Are you sure?
My Opera Mobile 10 doesn't stream youtube, mobile or desktop version.
Having a look to Opera's and other forums, it can't stream youtube...
Mine does, search around this forum for /TX Opera Mobile10 With Flash /in the settings enable Plugins.
but it does stream youtube through the streaming media player instead of the youtube player and the quality is quite decreased....
If it streams via any external player it's ok for me, it is important that it doesn't play in browser, because quality is worst...
It's exactly what I'm searching for, mine actually plays in browser or doesn't play, so, how to make it play in streaming player or youtube or core player?
The latest version of Opera will stream youtube video and depending upon your connection it is either good or bad.......
Are you sure?
My Opera Mobile streams no video...
