Hi people,
well, this afternoon I instaled Sprite Backup on my pc because my father wants a backup of his contacts on your HTC Touch.
Okay, the program runs fine. I made the backup, it was saved on his memory card and then I transfer this backup file for my pc, just in case...
I gave the cellphone back to my father and he taped on 'contact' buton and for his surprise, guess what? all contacts weren't there...sundenly it's all deleted.
Quickly I did the restoration using Sprite Back and that file I talked at the begining...the process runs fine again but when I try to open his contact again, the same problem, all empty...
`
Please, any sugestions, helps??
He is getting crazy already...
thank you guys and sorry for my english, I don't speak very good and I am a little nervous right now lol
anyone? thank u

(I guess this topic will make another trouble like before)
not sure if it can be don with activesync backup
but maybe spirit backup or xbackup can do it
otherwise you can export contacts and such from outlook on the pc and save it somewhere on a disk or cd or something
or you can use permant save in settings on the xda

Hello,
The only way i could think of is, take your friend' device that has xBackup and restore yours. Syncronize to outlook on pc and export it out!
If you have no personal contacts or dont mind me checking them, mail your backup file to me and i will try to do it for ya when free..
Regards
Carty..

hello everyone,
i hope you can help me. when i my xdaII hard reset, i used sprite backup to restore my xda to its last condition.. the problem is i when i view the outbox, drafts, and trash folders, it showed nothing just some "0k" at the right of the screen. but when you look at the folders, at the bottom it would say "0 Items, XX unread."
how can i resolve this??
p.s.
tried posting screen shots..not sure how.
hi,
Did you do a ROM upgrade? Were all databases backed up? Alot more info would be required to find out what went wrong. I suggest you log a question with Sprite tech support here
https://spritesoftware.crmdesk.com/home.aspx
they have a good turn around
You had the sprite backup mess up your inbox. have to erase your mail and start it anew. it's all on sprite backup page..
use the latest version of the program
thanx freemans,
did not do a rom update, my xda hard reboot by itself... all database were backed up with no errors.. will log on to sprite thank you.
thanx perchhog..
my inbox and sent messages are all good, the problem is with my drafts, outbox and trash folders...will try that after..
<<< Post cleared - Originally I set a password on my K-Jam, forgot what it was, could not use the device, panicked, then posted here...After much searching, I soon realised that there was no way around this little doozey of a problem and had to perform a hard reset. I lost everything (as it seems WM5 does not save text messages or contacts to SIM) but I'll learn from this mistake and refrain from doing anything so stupid in the future >>>
Although in the meantime, could someone please recommend a decent backup program for WM5 that actually works? I really miss the program that was in place on my old iPAQ h5450 ("iPAQ Backup") which would perform a complete backup of absolutely EVERYTHING on the device and restore when necessary(ie; stupid situations like mine)
I am quite a fan of PIM Backup v2.5
As long as you have a storage card then place the exe and the files in to a folder on the backup card and you are set to go.
Kind Regards
Chris
I am a huge fane of Spb Backup.
I also have heard that Sprite Backup is good as well.
Undeniably, Numero Uno is "PIM Backup V2.5"
Thanks for the replies, I am using PIM Backup now and it is serving me well
Hello,
I would appreciate ANY help on this matter. Yesterday i had no choice but to hard reset my phone. I always backup my phone every night, and thought (at the time) thank god! However, when i went into my sd card and clicked on the .exe file to restore the backup....it came up with an error message saying:
"The file Backup.exe cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
Isnt this type of file meant to self restore without the original program....seeing as i dont have the copy of sprite backup after hard resetting?
ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
If it helps the version of sprite backup i had before everything went haywire was Sprite Backup, HTC edition V6.2.3, Build 2330 (my paranoia makes me write these type of things down elsewhere)
THANKYOU again!
as far as i experience backup procedure
hi..
.. as far as i have experience ....sprite backup procedure ( there might be alternatives ...that i am not aware of but..) on my kaizer... for past 2 yrs and now ..blackstone..(hd ) you can only restore backup through sprite program..(installed on storage card or from sprite progam that should also be installed automatic with original installation on pc..?)i have found that i could also not click on.. backup .exe directly with stylus (i wanted to move .exe to another file...as it would freeze phone..but had to do it with pc...(cut and paste..etc..)i had to also ,when doing restores in the past ..open sprite program and select restore from within ....etc...
thus..i suggest..
if you do not have software any more on phone...is it not possible to get copy and re install it again ..and then try to do restore... selecting your original.exe you still have on sd card ...( i have done this once or twice ..and it worked for me ..but also .. failed a few times ..!! why i dont know...?)
...also as a safety measure i would copy backup.exe to pc.(temporary also.)..and work from there..?
what about checking sprite website mabe for clues or answers...??
hope it works for you..
good luck..
unfortunately i went to their website and downloaded the latest and only version they have which is higher than my old one and it could still not read the backup file. It must only work for the version i originally had.
Thank you anyway
