[info] Xperia Display Drivers - XPERIA X1 General

Hey
i have tested various display drivers with xperia (stock rom) and here's the info i got it .....it might be useful to u to select which driver u wanna install....
i choose these software to check
1.Sktool 4.4.7.1 (benchmark)
2.D3d tool (attachment in omnia D3D.rar)
3.coreplayer (to check vedio FPS)
here's the result:
A. X1 with Stock Drivers(driver name libgles_cm.dll in windows)
Sktool....1st 673
2nd 774
3rd 775
4th 780
5th 781 = 3783/5 =756.6 (took an avg)
FPS........31.550
--------------------------------------------------------------
B. X1 with Samsung Omnia Display Drivers
Sktool....1st 772
2nd 774
3rd 774
4th 769
5th 780 = 3869/5 =773.8 (took an avg)
FPS.......34.875
-------------------------------------------------------------
C. X1 with HTC Diamond display Drivers(driver name libgles_cl.dll in Attachment)
sktool....1st 743
2nd 772
3rd 773
4th 769
5th 766 = 3823/5 =764.6 (took an avg)
FPS.......33.026
So, i think Samsung omnia display drivers is best for x1 between the 3 ....
**needed htc touch hd display driver to test if someone have plz post in this thread**

omnia D3D
i forgot to attachment in 1 st post

Is mere 10% worth the trouble ?

try a true 3d benchmark for 3d drivers.. which is what you've been testing. Sktools bench isn't that good.
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Benchmark/GLBenchmark-Windows-Mobile-OpenGL-ES-CL-33651.shtml
I'll up the wimax, HD and some others if you want (there's the stock htc one and another inside most roms).
Then there's all the Ddraw drivers to test, and the way they interact with the DDI (which is prebuilt into the XIP) for 2d stuff which is what more people are likely to see a benefit from.
heres the 4 ! from the quartz (wimax)

For the Stock ROM test, are you using the R2A10 rom?

yes m using stock rom n ver R1AA017 GENERIC_UK

Moin.
how can i update/install the graphics driver.
Thanks

I believe you just download the cab and run it, then soft reset? Not sure but I also want to try.

i've tried the omnia drivers and there is a slight improvement when loading up the panels and changing how they are laid out. Were you able to get hold of the touch hd drivers as i'm sure i've seen the panels work much smoother on the touch hd

The quartz and Touch HD drivers are pretty identical. I've posted the quartz up above.

i dont really care about d3d too much since no applications (except for panels) that i have installed uses it.
I would kill for some 2d acceleration during regular windows operation, however. as far as i know there is none and probably never will be

whats the touch hd driver called? i have one and would help if i could

The Omnia driver doesn't use the Imageon hardware (since the Omnia doesn't have it). It's completely software-emulated, if anyone was wondering.

Where do you extract the files to? Windows folder?

just installed omnia drivers, there is a speed difference. All Good

Yeah, omnia driver seems faster.

SO, has anyone tested the 3d drivers with GLBenchmark and is willing to post results? I want the best 3d performance I can get for my xperia.

Where do you extract the files to?!! how to instal the driver?

You don't. Just extract it on your computer than put the extracted folder on the memory stick. From there, use "File Explorer" or "total commander" from your Xperia to browse through the folder and click the ".exe" Click it once. Even though it may seem it won't load, do NOT click on it again. Just go to the homescreen and wait a while. It will load eventually.
In my opinion, this isn't worth the trouble. It also adds 1500 tracks to the Media Panel... which totally ruins it.. but that is a different story.

whats best for gaming??

Diamond Interface and Drivers

Well I would assume that you've already seen the new HTC Diamond.
Is anyone already working on porting that beautiful TouchFLO™ 3D interface?
(I would assume that it is possible since it's just running on top of WM6.1 although I know that it would be difficult since it's for VGA and requires some meaty hardware)
Is it possible to get the Video Drivers of this device's Qualcomm® MSM7201A™ 528 MHz to be used on our MSM7x00 devices?
(I'm sorry if some people get's pissed about hearing this hopeless idea again, but I just had to ask, you know )
Thanks.
Anything's possible, though by the time it hits, a lot of people would have gotten other devices or just have bought the Diamond/Raphael.
--James
The TouchFlo 3d has already been adapted (slightly) but at the moment very few devices have the processor power and the screen size (VGA) for it to work. (Try a search for "manilla")
The video drivers may be possible, but a ROM dump would be needed and AFAIK, that hasn't happened yet...
A Diamond rom dump would be nice to look through to compare with the KS20 dump. But, I haven't been able to find a imate9502 dump from anybody yet, so it's not really helping... Best I got was the 9502 ahi2dati.dll which is about identical to the KS20 one.
I do have a fully ported ahi2dati.dll (you can do some egl* calls such as eglSwapBuffers(), glFlush(), etc) for the Kaiser but there's some spinlocks that I don't understand. It would be nice to get a reference ATI-using WM6.1 DDI.dll to hook up to it and then see what other subsystems haven't been properly ported.
Currently, I've got some of the KS20 TrsTai_extension.dll calls (pm_vid_en()) almost patched in.
Anybody got a handle on what smem.dll does?

Manila 3D about to work on BA?

Tried the latest cab from here:
Update 11: Direct from Chainfire:
=========================
TF3D QVGA - Release #2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430718
Prior to installing the cab, I unzipped the OpenGL ES software drivers from here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=121298&d=1223892257
...to the \WINDOWS directory.
The results: TF3D-QVGA installed in probably 10 minutes. Very slow progress at the beginning, but when the bar hit the 50% mark, installation was completed just after one or two more minutes. Startup time of TF3D is quite good, too. Takes about a minute to fire up. The drawbacks: The software 3D driver seems broken on the BA. No textures, but all white surfaces. One can see, though, that the shapes are rendered correctly. The clock on the Home tab flips correctly, messages on the Mail tabs fly in and out like they should etc. Unfortunately rendering is a tad slow, too. Not very smooth, yet no stills either. One can see the animations, but even if the textures were okay, it would be too slow to really enjoy.
Does anyone have an idea where to find suitable OpenGL ES software drivers for the BA?
Cheers.
which rom are you using ?
on my rom installing takes 30min and startup after soft resett takes 30 min, too.
i also get the white textures.
The "old" Helmi WM6 with German language files, which is really a fantastic ROM (always came back to it). Btw, when I tried TF3D, I already had loaded all kinds of stuff on my device (only about 15MB of internal memory free), so I'm really not talking about a virgin install, either.
BA was never designed for 3D graphic the first place, if you guys really like Manilla interface, I strongly suggest try out the Manilla 2D. just an idea.

Tony Hawk accelerated running full speed at Xperia X1

I have just managed to work THPS2 accelerated working at full speed on our's X1 So what you need to do?
1. Get Software version of THPS2
2. Get libgles_cl.dll file from this kaiser theard http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415523 and copy it into \Windows directory (unpacked of course)
3. Open directory where you have installed THPS2 and delete orginall file libgles_cl.dll from this directory
4. Edit file TH2_OPT.CFG :
- set RESOLUTION=640x480
- set Quality=High
Save file and close.
5. Run THPS2.exe or THPS2 shortcut in Games and enjoy!!

Do you also got it to display the IN-game grafics full screen `?

Update:
Dont mind. Got it to work
WoW it looks great but is it good playable??

ok i will give it a try i played it few years ago
Very nice, just tested it out, works very smoothly, full screen, full speed and the screen rotates to the correct orientation once the HW keyboard is opened.
Using the same file and method you can get Quake mobile to start but it crashes once it starts to load the game files. Any Ideas?

Is this file " libgles_cl.dll " an alternative display driver for the X1, does it give any video and performance increases on any other programs you have tested ?

Yes, I have also managed to run Quake III Arena accelerated version (I have problems with texturing yet, but it maybe problem of config file), and software version with more fps (from 7-8 to 14-15). Also DoomGLES is working now but it is not visable ok on the screen (the screen is moved but I have tested only Doom 1 for now).
where to get software version??
I love it when things keep getting better
<3 the X1
Though, is this really full speed? Is the speed the same on the x51v, how do the gpus compare? And is it the gpu or the cpu slowing it down, could maybe overclocking the cpu give me a speed boost? Anyway it's cool you can map the game to the keyboard aswell. Lovely PC ports
By the way, how about the accelerated version of Stuntcar Extreme, does it work too?

Why don't you spend some time to read the thread first?
Added a forwarder to remap hardcoded CL calls to the Imageon CM dll

In others words, it's a wrapper driver to forward calls to our X1's native API to enable hardware accelation on some games.
BTW, I found X1 is even smoother than my x51v in the game play.

That's interesting as I did the GLES benchmark and ended up with measly 880 points in WVGA and around 990 in VGA while the x51v supposedly gets around 1200. I've even seen someone getting 1290 with a diamond, is such low score normal for the X1 or is there a way to improve it?

Dutty came up with the following, the ati cab works faster for me in somethings.

I don't have THPS2 software either. I was able to get the accelerated version, but it does not work well as there are no textures in the skate parks. I think there is a software AND hardware version of THPS2, and even when I set the hardware version to use software rendering, it will not load the level.
Would be great to get a test version of THPS2 software/unaccelerated, but alas, WAREZ ARE NOT ALLOWED!
I'm also quite interested in Dutty's new D3D drivers. I don't suppose there is a chance that they will wreck my X1, as it looks like you can uninstall them easily. Also, when deleting a file from \Windows, if that file was in ROM, it should reappear correct? (i.e. I delete the Dutty files that were copied to \Windows, and the originals should take their place)

ive not seen any downsides to these drivers yet.
yes if you "overwrite" a file in rom ghe original remains, so as long as you can delete the replacement then the system will go back to using the original
thank you very much
I'd love to have GTA 1 or better 2 on my phone. Perhaps some modded Controls would be great . Any suggestions?
(Both Freeware btw )
how can i cofigure the controls?? or can you send me your TH2_OPT.CFG file please

Freeware is something totally different from open-source.
So, my suggestion: dream on .
Is it possible to adjust the left/right/up/down function to the optical joystick instead of pressing the buttons?
I got problems with the paint peeling off from the buttons! Played too much ;o)

Quake 3 CE on htc hd

I have found this post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433595
It works on htc diamond so is it possible to make it work on htc hd ?
When I start quake I have this message :
'q3ce' is not a valid Pocket PC application.
help please
Hmm... and if you sucess...
How are you gonna control without a D-Pad ?
maybe we will control with G pad ...
Exactly...
Just assign the D-PAD to the G-Sensor. Should work nicely.

to play Age of Empires, you can use the minimap, it is a bit boring but it is playable
Nobody has a solution for quake 3 ?
Will a bluetooth keyboard work?
yes I think but it should first be able to launch quake 3 on htc hd
Well, the game boots on my Touch HD just fine.
Allows me to configure parameters, choose player (it displays the 3D models correctly), and everything seems smooth.
When I try to start the first level, it loads it up and immediately dumps me back to the opening screen, without any error message. It did the same both with GL Extensions enabled and disabled in the options screen.
That's as far as I got.
where do you download quake 3 ?
how do you install it ?
can you add q3ce.exe to this post please ?
seconded......
I managed to run Quake 3 CE on htc hd
it runs with 7 FPS
the max I could have is 12 FPS
with or without d3d drivers?
I have tried with and without d3d drivers
I think it is the same
but I have followed this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460006
and it really is faster and more responsive not in quake 3, a little in quake 3 but especially in general
I can run Q3 but about 5fps what aint good. Pity it would rock in multiplayer !
But out of ten roms tested recently, not many loaded it up at all. Present rom works.
Phoenix that is pretty good. In my case my hardware holds me back.

Enhanced D3D Driver

Here is an Enhanced D3D Driver for our Touch Pro2. Before you install driver run the D3DDemo file from your phone. Extract D3DMDemo.exe and copy it anywhere on your phone (Storage Card is good). Run it and see how slow it runs with the default D3D Driver. Then install At0mAng Enhanced D3D Driver.cab, restart and run the D3DMDemo again and see the difference
Enjoy!
Just to make things clear. I did not develop the driver, it was from the Samsung Omnia and the libgles_CL.dll comes from NuShrike. I have been using it since my TyTN II days, gave it a shot on the Rhodium and it worked. I did not see it in this forum so I cabbed it up (was OEM in my kitchen) and posted it.
The cab file contains two dlls both from the D3DM driver and the correct registry settings for d3dm_ati.dll.
To learn more about this driver and to try newer releases please see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496528
There have been a few reports that the drivers from above thread break a couple of things like the G-Sensor with Opera so I am posting back the original file I had up. Strange since I do not have that problem with the latest drivers from the above thread.
It's up to you to decide which drivers you would like to use.

Cool...glad it is working on other devices.
Been using this driver since the TyTN II then to Raphael and now on to Rhodium Not sure if it is a good or bad thing that the same driver works on the last 3 devices I have...
Wow! It really worked and the M3D really is faster!
Cheers mate!
-ilari
On the Telus (MSM7600) it went from 0.85 ish FPS to a smooth test. Very dramatic change
Same for me here too
is it really faster?
does it mean, that the video-playback is also better?
TF3D is using OpenGL ES or Direct3D? If it's written for OpenGL ES the new drivers should not have any impact over it. It's only my opinion.
Any ideas?
Just to let you know I also went from 0.75 FPS to about 25 FPS.
Crazy change, just don't notice much difference in TF3D.
what's the difference between this and neo's beta 3d driver pack?

Same opinion. But I cannot see fps in the demo after installing the new driver.
The increase in fps is recognizible high in the demo. The object first is absolutely stuck without the driver. With the driver installed it runs fluidly.
in this demo I have a big boost with this driver !!
Whith games work with that driver? My old quake dont work on my TP2
Will this work on MSM 7201 chipset as well? I don't want to make hardreset again if something will going wrong on my TP1. Thanks.
Edit>
Nevermind,I tried it. Unfortunately no visible change happens on Raphael.
No Change
It made no difference on my Touch Pro 1
I installed it on Touch Pro2 and test runs a lot faster. And also TouchFLO 3D runs more smoothly. I don't know why, but it's really faster. I think TF3D2 uses OpenGL-ES and Direct3D driver can't change it's performance.

Seems to work awsome. Thanks.
