recommend an audio player with resume from bookmark? - Touch HD General

I listen to audio books, and the default win player, doesn't allow me to bookmark my spot when i finish & resume from the same spot. Is there a player that does, paid or free, doesn't matter which

I don't know about the audio format but Mortplayer used to let me resume a song from the position it stopped playing, would that work?

Hi,
I use Conduits Pocket Player. This program gives you the option to choose to automatically bookmark (and thus resume) one track or all tracks. This player also has an automatic screen off function and sleep timer.
For me, this is a great player for audio books.

if you have visual studio 2008 you can compile the one from here. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/audio-video/abcPlayer.aspx

Thanks for the replies, Conduits Pocket player looks like the sort of thing I need

I can recommend you pocketMusic, it has bookmarks and I like it more that PocketPlayer. Only issue with it: dousn't have Coverart and doesn't have WVGA-theme, you'll see it when you use it. But for Music and for listening to biiks, its awesome. Just try it out
Greets, cad^^

Kinoma Freeplay (or the paid version) works well with audio books. Even works on Audible content, it can log in, stream or download audible books - if you use audible of course. It seems good quality and works well on the HD. It bookmarks any file and retains a history log.

Good mp3 player without static?

im currently using pocket player, but on some of the songs i play, i always hear these audio glitches and hits.
but when i play my sons in WMP, i don't hear it.
i hate using WMP cuz i can't save a playlist, and it keeps reading from the phone instead of the memory card. i'll have to reload all my songs everytime i load WMP.
thanks
that last stuff is something that I think was mentioned fixed in AKU2.2 - not sure though.
As for an alternative player.. TCPMP and MortPlayer come to mind
ok i tried out mortplayer cuz it's free, but when i was listening to it on the train, it keeps pausing on me, i don't know y, i wasn't even pressing any buttons.
any other good mp3 players?
does anyone know how to fix this?
mort player keeps pausing when i use it underground.
why is that? the music is on my storage card, and im not streaming any music, thanks
Mp3 player
Well for the playlist issue you can use a freeware app known as' PlayList Editor' it stores your playlist in any format you assign it too,and the WMP player can directly read ie from the sd card,as for the players you could try the GS player or TCPMP both of them are very good. I hope this helps.

Phone laggy after using conduits pocket player

I have experienced this everytime i use pocket player.
After listening to music, i click menu, exit player and then come back to my today screen. After this everything becomes very laggy. after clicking on the start menu, each item is filled after about half a second each.
When i open messaging, the scroll doesn't work, the messages take an eternity to open.
Now i noticed taht the memory usage is the same at before (for me it's 32%)
I looked at the running processes and pocket player process is not runninganymore. I dont have touchflo, i use the SE panel.
Any ideas why this is happening?
After a soft reset everything becomes fine.
yeah, I got the exact problem as you!! I think it's the problem of the player itself. Can anyone recommend any other players, except the pocket music player? I think the sound quality of pocket music is not as good as conduits pocket player.
I did a series of experiments and found out that the phone becomes laggy if you have the equalizer on in the player.
I also found out that, if you keep your eq on, listen to music all you want, but switch off the eq and let the player run for a minute or so, then the phone stabilizes... Can anyone confirm this..?
Thanks guy, I tried to stop the EQ and found that everything is fine, no more laggy. But without the EQ, the sound quality is not good. So, I use Pocket Music to play music and Conduits pocket player for AVI files.
I also tried to turn on the EQ and then stop for 1 min, I found that everything is smooth too!
I am also using Conduits Pocket Player 3.71, with EQ on + the high quality EQ-setting and my X1 is not laggy at all. After exiting the player, and I am returned to the today panel my X1 is as fast as usual. Not using the Pocket Player today plugin though.
I am using the original ROM with only a few system tweaks + SD Tuneup.

[REQ] Good podcast/audiobook player?

Most everything is geared towards music. I don't tend to listen to music, I like listening to my podcasts and audio magazines.
Currently I'm using RSS Hub with TCPMP which allows me to jump forward/back 10 seconds if I missed what they said or need to skip forward thru commercials. It works ok, but not great.
I'd really like to find software that stops when I get a call and restarts when the call is completed, has bigger on screen buttons, has the ability to automatically add the newer podcasts to a playlist (might be dreaming...). If I could control it with a Jabra 8010 BT headset that'd be even better!
Any suggestions? I tried MortPlayer but had some issues with it glitching, also that it went full screen - I need to see signal strength, other running programs, battery power, etc...
I'm not sure these would meet all of your specs
but I've used Pocket Player for podcasts with good results, I remember it would pause playback for a call. I like Kinoma for audiobooks, as it remembers where you left off in the file. For a free audio podcast app, you could try the new version of Viigo, it seemed much improved from the last time I had used it.
Good Luck
MortPlayer works great for audiobooks and podcasts.
PocketPlayer. Pauses on calls and has a bookmarking facility. I use it for Audiobooks and podcasts using AllwaySync to sync the podcasts from iTunes on my network to the external card on my Touch HD
Regards
Pocket Tunes can automatically save where you were when you exit the app. It also does manual bookmarking. My only complaint is that it often reverted to the last auto bookmark when there was "activity" like a phone call or text message.
Pocket Player also does manual bookmarking.
I've used those two, and I like the Pocket Tunes interface better.
PocketPlayer doesn't appear to be able to download podcasts automatically as they're available, nor on demand - only when you select the podcast to play it (unless I'm missing something). I have HSDPA at home, but not typically while I'm driving...
Pocket Tunes has a nifty feature that allows for automatic delete of a podcast once listened to, but I can't find any other information about it. It also doesn't appear to be able to skip forward or back 10 seconds instead of next/previous track.
Any comments?
I currently use Mortplayer. You can choose a skin which leaves the topbar uncovered. You can even have a skin which superimposes a narrow bar on whatever screen is underneath. Bookmarks work reliably and fast on audiobooks and podcasts. I use AEButton to map the down volume to play/pause (MPpause.lnk - included with Mortplayer) which works even with the screen off. Pause/Resume on phone calls works well. It cannot download podcasts. I use RSShub or MediaMonkey (on the desktop) for this.
Kinoma has a great interface (with it's own topbar, it is full screen) and bookmarks. The free version can stream podcasts, the paid version can also download them. It can also download and play audible.com content, and lots of other sources. Well worth checking out. I found the book marks less robust than Mortplayer, if you didn't exit the player properly it lost them. Also to exit you had to click back about 6 screens to get to the home screen.
Both seem to use a lot of CPU cycles and hence battery. I would like to use TCPMP which seems to use less but can't find a resume/bookmark addon for it. There is an addon for WMP on this forum (search "WMP resume") but it didn't work for me on a Touch HD.
Hope this helps.

Playing Gapless Albums in Media Panel

Greetings all!
I have the entire collection of MDB's Beautiful Voices Compilations, which consists of 40 gapless albums - so far - of Chillout bliss of different genres; essential for driving down the crazy streets of Cairo. I recently lost my iPod so I gave my X1 a try as a music player in my car today; copied one of the albums to my memory card and I was all set. The sound quality through AUX was pretty much the same (if not slightly better when it comes to bass) as that of the lost gadget.
Moving on to the important point, I noticed when playing this gapless album while the phone was on the “Media Panel” (Bluetooth Headset connected) that the files don't switch smoothly; sound stops for almost two seconds between tracks. The freeze is also there if I play the album from the “On the Road Panel”. I didn’t experience any noise what so ever when both players would move on to the next track.
I used the search function and couldn't find any threads about this. Has anyone else encountered the same problem? Is it well known? Is there a fix?! It's something that I can live with but I have like a 100 gapless albums in my library so it would be nice if I can manage to fix it.
Running R3A Generic UK ROM, no junk, no cracked software!
Note: Gapless Albums:
I'm quite sure you're all familiar with the term but for those who are not gapless albums are supposed to sound like one long connected track with no breaks what so ever, like listening to a live concert, or an Electronic music set, e.g. Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise, etc...
I know only 2 players who play gapless : Pocket Music, and Pocket Player. I use Pocket Player, it's pretty as nice as my iPod nano 2G.
+1 for pocket player. The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes a few seconds to open and is a tad slow to redraw when switching orientation. Great player though. Media browser as nice and easy to use as an ipod. Download the free fully functional trial. To turn gapless on, turn crossfade on and drag the overlap slider to zero.
Thank you all!
Thanks for the tip. I purchased Pocket Player. It sure works its way around gapless albums. But I'm in love with SE's media panel. I hope someone may find a solution for that soon.

Music player

Anyone know of a good music player which has a resume function for each track?
I had Pocket Player on my HD2 which allowed me to stop one track, play another and then go back to the first track and continue where I left off. Used it a lot on audiobooks.
Alternatively, something that will allow me to set a bookmark on different tracks.
Even better would be one that does that and also still has music controls on the lockscreen like the stock player.
Not sure if I've come across anything like you want specifically for music.
If it's just for audiobooks, then try Ambling BookPlayer. It's pretty good at auto bookmarking what you are listening to, and comes with a widget too to play and pause books.
I'm using Ambling BookPlayer now and it's very good, particularly for my audiobooks and recorded drama. It's a bit of work to load the mp3 files into its library as it doesn't recognise the m3u playlists I have and it does not natively support album art but I liked it enough to buy the Pro version.
Mortplayer
Mortplayer Audiobooks in the market. Free. I used to use Mortplayer in WinMo and this seems much the same. Very reliable at saving where you are in each track. I have only used the android version for a few days but it seems OK and the WinMo one was rock solid, even picked up where I left off before a soft reset. Oh and there's a widget for it and it shows in notifications.
Worth a try.
im using mix zing lite
