Reverse landscape mode - shortcut button - Touch HD General

Hi,
I would like to assign the long press on "Call button" to the Rotate screen option but I would like the landscape to be reverse (to the right) as I am right-handed and I would like the earphones plug to be the opposite way.
1) I created a shortcut with SKtools for a rotation of 270°.
--> the problem is that I needed another shortcut to put it back to portrait mode.
2) I then tried to use the SPB PocketPlus button mapping to "Rotate screen" which works really good as the same shortcut can toggle between portrait and landscape but only rotate screen to default landscape.
I look for a registry edit (maybe in HKLM/system/GDI/Rotation...) or other trick to change the default landscape to reverse landscape so that I can keep the Pocket+ button mapping
I know that AEBPlus is able to do that but I would like to save some RAM and also some money (AEBPlus is shareware)
Thank you for your help.

Try to use "Gyrator 2"... Work perfect on Touch HD. I supose that is fix your problem with screen orientation.

EDIT : rotate manually
Thank you for your advice.
I tried Gyrator2 (which is a really good software). I also tried MagicMobile and ChangeScreen applications but none of them enable me to rotate manually by pressing/holding a button (the call button for example).
My problem with the automatic rotation apps is when I want to answer a phone call (with the phone in my pocket) with the slide to answer of TF3D, the screen rotation mess up with my action...
It makes it difficult for me to answer as the slide area changes place...
The only reason I want to rotate my screen is in the "Programs Explorer" before launching iGO for it to be in landscape mode...
I liked that Tomtom could handle the rotation once the program is on.
It seems that with iGO, we have to rotate before launching the software or it will stay in portrait mode.

AEB+ will do this in its "free" non-registered mode.
I have it on the OK/back button with rotate 90 and then toggle back. It has a full range of rotate angles.
Try it - it is shareware but works almost 100% in "free" mode.

You are right. AEB+ solves my problem (and is a great aplication even the "free" part)
Thank you Cheesy Dave !

You could re-map one of your buttons.
To do this try Start - Settings - Personal - Buttons
Choose which button you don't mind changing then from the drop down list at the bottom select rotate screen (7th from the top)
Hope this helps
Lefthanded mode
Could some one please advice me how i can map the ;Lefthanded mode; screen to the hardware buttons cause by default it goes on the right handed mode.

The default orientation-change can be set in...
Start > Settings > |System| > Screen*
(o) Landscape (left-handed)
Then if you open/close the keyboard or use a button mapped to the <rotate screen> option (not an external application*), it should switch between the orientation set there and Portrait mode.
* for external applications, just be sure you downloaded the right one. Some turn by 90 degrees, others by 270 degrees.
External application
Thanks ZeBoxx
I have Vito Button mapper and when i press the hard key assigned to screen rotate,it goes to the right haqnded mode.Any suggestions??
I guess it might be using its own built-in rotation utility, which rotates it the wrong way around? Download one of the screen rotation utilities, I think you need the 270-degrees one
Is there a way to get the screen to rotate without assigning it to a button... ideally I'd like something in the start menu that rotates the screen - if anyone has any ideas if such a program/function exists!

Try this:
[HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation]
"LandScapeFixed"=dword:00000001
"LandScapeMode"=dword:00000004 or 1
Now press that button
"LandScapeMode"=dword:00000004 = Left Handed
"LandScapeMode"=dword:00000001 = Right Handed
Cheers
Thanks
thanks Tweaksradje that fixed my problem now it turns o the left handed mode without a hitch. Also thanks to Zeboxx

Funny how that's exactly what Start > Settings > |System| > Screen, etc. changes.

What exactly does that one do, though?
The few references found have no clear description, and one page even says it supposedly doesn't work in WM5 -_-
Ah, it seems to remove the left-handed/right-handed option in Start > Settings > |System| > Screen, and replaces it with just Portrait and Landscape.
/me sets it back to 0 real quicklike
so will the reg hack [HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation] always keep the screen rotated without using a button?
no.. applications can still change the screen orientation to Landscape/Portrait and back. In addition, the Wizard specifically has a keyboard driver which always puts the orientation into left-handed landscape when slid out, and back to portrait hen slid back in. So you won't be able to always keep it in a single orientation with this hack. A TSR program monitoring the orientation would have to be written which changes it back - or intercepts and nulls all orientation calls.
Landscape mode
Quick question
I have occasionally noticed that when i have picked up my wizard and about to start using it , that the screen is in landscape mode when it should be in portrait mode. (with the default being portrait and the keyboard not slid out)
The wizard then very quickly reverts to portrait mode without me doing anything.
Is this a bug in the software??
Is there anything i can do to fix it so it does not happen again??
Cheers

I would also be interested in that. Haven't found which applet does that in order to make a shortcut.

Are you using the standard case with your wizzard? I read somewhere that the magnets which keep the case closed affect the method of detecting if the keyboard is open. I know that when I was using VJokbutton if I closed the camera app using this program the screen remained in landscape mode irrespective of keyboard in/out status. Default behaviour returns after a soft reset.
Hope this helps.

How to have a rotated screen?

If I want to change the orientation the screen I tap on the orientation button and the screen became landscape but when I extract the keyboard the screen return portrait... so I want that when I replaice the keyboard the screen come back to landscape... is it possible???
ok... no solution...
Why not press the orientation button while the keypad is still out?
because I don't want to tap the orientation everytime...
set a hw button to rotate the screen, works fine with pcmkeyboard

The device was designed to work on portrait.. so it will insist on going portrait.
You may ask vjay555 on this forum to write you a simple program that will force your device to stay on landscape. A very good developer.. he makes simple tools like that. He's a mod here.
File name for Execute Rotate Screen ???
Ussually I use from HTC Home, but I will assign at Left Softkey with program that can rotate the screen. I don't know the file name??? Is It in Windows Directory???

Manual Rotation???

Hey Guys,
so while playing around with the diamond config utility, i've noticed theres a registry option to enable "manual screen rotation'
Now, since the gsen app currently doesn't work with the Telus ROM, i would imagine that this registry key would allow you to switch the screen manually.
Is there any button i have to press to manually rotate the screen?
If i am completely mistaken about this option, is there another solution besides the gsen app?
I don't mind pressing a hotkey button to manual rotate for the time being until gsen fixes the app to work with telus as well.
Any ideas? Thanks a million!!!!
I have noticed this tweak about as well and have never understood what exactly does it mean. .......
yeh exactly...
i can understand gsen would allow you to rotate automaticaly, but until they fix it, i wouldn't mind doing it manually for temporary purposes.
i would really love to text in landscape mode!
There has to be a way to assign a key to rotate the screen.
Workaround - Quick Menu!

Install an application called "Quick Menu" -- it's a Start Menu replacement that I've used for a while. Referenced in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340358
You can do four things with H-V toggle:
1. Find it in the Quick Menu menu
2. Set Quick Menu so that holding the Windows icon for a second or two will do an H-V switch (great for apps that aren't fullscreen - i.e. blocking the start menu)
3. Create a shortcut to the H-V switch within Quick Menu, and assign that to the press-and-hold button. Great for fullscreen apps like TomTom!
4. If you use Voice Command software (ex. Microsoft's), you can launch the H-V shortcut that way. For example, "Open Rotate" launches the H-V icon which I've renamed "Rotate".
All these make more sense once you get to know Quick Menu.
great.. thanks for the recommendation but now my phone is messed
first off, it wouldn't stay landscape, it would just resort back to portrait, and now when i closed the program, and rebooted, i don't have my task bar in the top right nemore. it disappeared and i cannot get it back
now what?? hard reset?

nevermind, quick fix ... phew!!!! it was in the task manager settings to turn it back on... oh man that was close!!!!
ok this is cool... i got the manual rotation working by holding the windows key.... this is amazing Thank you sooo much!!!
although one qwerk... I find that i cannot use the menu at all. I've pretty much set it to quick turn to landscape... i click slightly to the right to use my regular start menu. reason being is because if i use it, it removes my task mgr in the top right of my screen and then i have to go and enable it manually within my settings.
So im pretty much just using it for holding the windows logo to change my orientation. other than that it's great!!!!
thanks a million man i appreciate it!
Alternatively if you do not want to use additional software like QuickMenu. this method works well...
1) Change your registry to enable screen rotation:
HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (Change from 1 to 0)
2) Then, simply map your phone button long press to the rotation tweak:
Settings -> Buttons -> Map with <Rotate Screen>
3) When you would like to rotate your screen, just hold your Phone button.

I've done a similar thing but without changing the registry. If you look under screen in advanced config there's the option to have landscape. If you then go into start - settings - system - screen the option to have portrait or landscape is there. you can then go start - personal - buttons and map your screen rotation to whatever key you want.
Here is a cab to enable the rotation if you are not familiar with the registry.

Your changing the registry with advanced config aren't you? Either way works no doubt. More than one way to skin a cat.
A Little application - Trotate
I wrote a little program which will rotate screen following a Finger Swipe.
Originally written for Touch(Elf) program appear to work OK on Diamond.
I have found that when selecting Home Screen that the Diamond will return to normal Screen orientation after a brief pause, or you can return to original orientation by re-running application.
Enjoy....
The best program that I have found for rotating the screen to landscape and back is WkTask, it does heaps more as well but for rotating, it is so easy, you just put the stylus on the close button and slide down and the screen will rotate and repeat and it rotates back to portrait.

Slick! That'll do the trick too!
Re: QuickMenu -- it has its own Running Programs list, and the author decided his app should no conflict with HTC's and auto-disables HTC's. It's weird, but I got used to it.

anyone have problems with the clock in the topright corner, mines gone and half the signal strength meter is covered by a blank
Oh man, thanks a bunch for the info guys!!! so i already had the enable landscape mode in the registry but never knew how to activate it. I just went into my buttons menu and saw the "rotate" screen option by holding the send key! it works great!!!!
no need for any 3rd party appps.
thanks for all the recommendations guys, this method will work wonderfully until the gsen app works for the telus diamond!
thank you once again guys!
ok guys i'm having a problem
i'm using the method of holding send key to manual rotate.
it works working fine when i tried it out, now while im trying to type a text message, it resorts back to the portrait mode, and exits back to the homescreen.
any ideas why?
Hey mightymike84, did you fix this issue or stillcausing headaches for you. I am also on telus and was wondering about the reults before I make a change to the reistry setting. Also I do use the send key for the voice command option, any other way to use say one of the other keys. Thanks.
I am new to the WM world (long time user of the palm treos) so sorry for the noob questions
Hi guys im interested in this manual rotate, but i have no buttons in the button settings to assign manual rotate to (MDA Compact IV) nor can i figure out how to create a short cut in "Quick Menu".
Could some please explain how to get a H-V Rotate shortcut working please?
Hi,
see this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428759
The .exe file someone gave me works fine !!!
I put it in the star menu, so i can rotate the programs if they aren't in full screen mode... Like the others the home TF3D comes back to normal after.

[IDEA]Manual Landscape and Portrait mode

The other day i was just watching some reviews and videos of nokia 5800 and in one video i saw the functionality of the phone...a guy was writing a SMS and there he showed that he can manually enter into landscape mode and portrait mode as per need to write the message
So i just wondered that if same kind of manual rotation of screen via some menu or some bind key can be done in HTC Diamond.
I know there are anuto rotation apps like gyrator and gsen but with there own limitations also i guess not everyone wants to rotate the screen every now and then automatically
I request someone to please take interest and come up with ideas
tx
regards,
hi, have a look at start/ personal buttons and 2.assign program, scroll here and see if you have the option to rotate screen, if not i think you can add the option via diamond tf3d config or last option is via a manual registry edit by going to HKLM/system/ gdi/ rotation. hideoreientationgui change value from 1 to 0. this means that manual screen rotation can be performed by pressing and holding the call button on all apps apart from tf3d .
I have tried Gyrater2 and have yet to figure out how to configure it or find a decent faq for it despite clicking all over his page. I second the motion. I want my screen to rotate where it already does with the OEM setup AND whenever I open the full querty and nowhere else.
install "AE Button Plus" so can you assaign for exampel if you hold long "volume down" so screen can rotate clockwise or just rotate. works nice for me

HTC Rotate Screen function

Does anyone know where the I can find the application file to rotate the screen from portrait to landscape and vice versa on the HTC Touch?
I am trying to find the exe or ink file so I can add the function to an icon on one of my ifonz pages. The Rotate screen exists on the Settings/System/Screen page but I can't figure out where the file is that it activates.
It has eluded me thus far.
Thanks

I use SPB Mobile Shell and it has this functionality built in.
My screen rotates to portrait (and vice versa) when I long hold the camera button.
You can change the settings in Settings > Buttons > camera button (hold) < [rotate]
