I'm new to this and want to flash my ROM to WM6. I've read the Wilki piece on how to do this so I think I'm fairly comfortable with giving it a go. What I want to do is back up my original ROM in case I want to revert back to it or in case things go wrong.
I cannot find advice anywhere on how to back up my ROM although it appears that it's an important thing to do.
Can someone please tell me how to back up my ROM please ?
Regards
Niven
Hi,
You may be posting in the wrong forum - there is a Universal WM6 forum here!
Anyway, you will find the required information here:
http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=64&Itemid=1
What I did not yet find are instructions to flash back the backup if necessary... I imagine that this is done in a similar way, but I don't know how exactly.
Cheers,
vma
Hi,
I'm totally new to this thing called flashing roms i've read the faq and I still have some unanswered questions about it. If i download a new rom to my hermes, does that mean that i've added the "cooked" OS to my phone and it cant be removed and sooner or later i will run out of rom?

I dont quite get the question exactly but think of the ROMs as an alternate OS for your phone. You flash it onto your phone (make sure to read all the guides before doing this) and it replaces the previous one. If you dont like it you can download the original ROM from your providers website.
so the rom works just like a normal memory? whats the difference then?
here's a wealth of information on upgrades, questions, etc...enjoy

Hi.
I am currently own a Samsung Omnia and I am planning to flash with custom Win6.5 ROM.
Before I do that I would like to backup my original ROM just in case anything happen I able to revert back as what I had right now.
My questions:
1) Is there any ROM Dump application available to do so for my original ROM backup?
2) Edit: There is NO better ROM. You need to test and read the feedback and decide for yourself
I know my questions are somewhere in the forum but there are thousands of them I hope someone kind enough to help me over here. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ameet,
Thanks for editing my thread.
I am not expert like u which I able to identify which custom rom is stable or good for my phone by reading through thousands of thread over the forum. To me, all look the same and I do not know where to start. I know there is not prefect ROM available for every phone or everyone but I do highlighted as I am using Samsung Omnia and I hope someone using the same phone as me able to advise me that this ROM is much better or that ROM is for HTC and so on.
This is the reason i post this thread as I need help from someone expert like u to guide ppl like me, maybe you can just highlight a keywords that I need to search.
I thought the main reason of this forum to guide newbie for better understand on their phone or applications and has fun with it.
I am sorry if I duplicated this thread with same questions somewhere in the forum.

Hi everyone
I am new to this forum so bear with me.
I have a Blackstone NL version with 1.56 firmware from stock. Just got it 2 weeks ago. I would like to test miri's new WM6.5 v15 on it. My question would be:
If i do that, (and dont like it) can i go back to what i have now?
If so, can I make a complete backup of my blackstone, and i dont mean a sync of the contacts but a real OS image of some sort.
Is it possible to find original HTC OS images of different languages.( i have dutch on mine and would like to have one in English. If yes, Where?
For my questions, please be specific and clear coz i am a Noob.
Thanks in advance

As I read it, he's asking two questions, one is where to find the ROM - which you answer - and the other (which I'd like answered too) is what problems might there be in rolling back to the stock ROM; my reading of the Wiki simply doesn't answer that part unless I'm missing something (or searching for the wrong thing?). So a pointer to a previous article (which might help us) would be useful, if someone knows where one is....
The ROOM is the Bibble of changing ROM: in this forum you'll find all if you search...
But you want the fish not learn fishing...
1) Wiki for ROM
2) No problem to return back...

why didnt you just say that in the first place then, my god, geeks
but roll back imply that the org rom is still inside the device
and thats not the case to go back you just have to flash your
device with the same version it came with like you would flash
it with any other rom
im new to the site and flashing im not even shure how to flash but i want to is ther anyone that can help me what do i need what rom to use
many thanks

If you want to flash a rom, read this guide. As for which rom is best for, everyone has different tastes, you have lite roms, and full roms (lots of apps included), then you have wm6.1 or wm6.5 as well as different versions of manila. Best advice would be scan first post of each thread and see which appeals to you then try a few out and make your own conclusion
Any future help on flashing should be posted in guide thread
Plenty of people have asked same question and get same result. Research, read & trial.
Can I also remind you to read the forum rules before creating new thread.
