Wing isnt being recognize with Windows 7 - Wing, P4350 General

hey guys well anyways i have a major problem...my wing cant be recognized in windows 7 for some reason and also i wanted to run the net on it since its my only source of net, im at a friends house and i really need someones help of how to get windows 7 to recognize my wing, are there any drivers that someone can give me to try? i already installed mobile device center and no luck but i havent updated anything on after i upgraded to windows 7..plz help...thnx

As far as I know, Windows 7 is still in BETA stage. So there will be bugs and glitches. There will be no support for Windows 7 under Microsoft's website until its Final Release, but I believe you can send them any bugs you may encounter since you are a W7 BETA Tester. However anyone who is using Windows 7 and has successfully linked the Windows Mobile Device Center and their PPC or Smartphone should post their instructions step-by-step on how to get it working. Then this thread could be a sticky for all those who are also having the same problem.

Just download Windows Mobile Device Center from Microsoft. That's the new interface software for windows mobile devices and it works flawlessly on Windows7 and the TMO Wing and does everthing that Activesync does.

apparently i DID download device center but it still wont get the wing recognize....i will try some stuff and keep people updated of this problem im having

win 7 here.. when i plug in, I get "device stopped working".. it wont sync, but it will show under my computer and i can go thru it like normal to transfer files etc.. just no sync..
We can only wait it out perhaps.

well whenever i plug mine in it doesnt show under my computer, can u tell me what u did to make that happen??

Drivers for USB tether

Tried USB tethering for the first time today and I was pleased with how quickly it set up and worked.
Now, I have HTC sync installed as this is my main PC, but does anyone know the set of driver files needed for Windows to pick up the Hero as a modem?
I'd like to pop them on the SD card to allow me to enable internet access on anyone's PC or laptop without installing full HTC sync.
If you've a default set up, the NDIS drivers can be found in c:\Program Files\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks but it only has the drivers there for Vista x64 (my OS), I really need drivers for XP and Vista x86 too
Odd - when I installed it here on W7 x86, I get both 32-bit and 64-bit driver directories. If you can, I suggest you install on a 32-bit installation to get the driver files.
Regards.
Dave
Hello everyone,
This is one of my first post/reply here, so before anything thank you very much to all here for sharing such good infos.
I've tried to setup my Hero for use as USB Modem as well, but can not find the "HTC Remote NDIS Network Adapter" driver either. Reading on different forums it seems it used to be on the memory card shipped with the device, but I bought mine 4 days ago and the file isn't there now. HTC has probably changed policy regarding this. Can anyone point me to where I could download this file to install on my lapto using Vista.
Thank you very much.
You can download HTC sync direct from HTC's website. It contains all the necessary software and drivers, and is a later version than the one that shipped with the Hero (at least when mine was shipped anyway!).
Regards,
Dave
u got it to work with the default program in htc sync??? i thought it doesnt work..i tried and i got an error
Works fine for me.
Regards,
Dave
do u happen to have sprint service? im getting a username/password issue...i know its not the wrong info because i can get online fine without tethering..... im reading at many other places that sprint doesnt have it working yet??
No, mine is not a Sprint Hero. It is possible that Sprint have disable this option.
You might want to try PDAnet to see if that works with a Sprint Hero (see http://www.junefabrics.com/android/index.php )
Regards,
Dave
thanks dave..yea pdanet does work, i havnt yet tried it because its a trial version and u have to pay for it...i came from windows mobile where tethering was super easy to do and the apps were plentiful.... but it seems the android market doesnt have tethering ..... i rely on tethering alot for when im traveling, i thougth the android market wouldnt be a problem with tethering apps..but it seems im wrong
The GSM Hero support tethering out of the box - therefore the issue is not Android, but more likely a restriction your carrier has imposed!
First things first though - check to see if you have "Mobile Network Sharing" in Menu->Settings->Wireless Controls.
Regards,
Dave
yes, i have the mobile network sharing... i even install the drivers for tethering fine... im getting a error 67 saying that my usrname and password for my internet is not valid.... although i can go on my internet normally via my phone only...i cannot connect a usb to it from my laptop.... right after i connect it, the internet disconnects from the phone then i get an error.... you are right about sprint blocking it.... but theyve been blocking it since windows mobile...people got around it with a simple app which came with all the hacked roms.... it seems like an issue here with the sprint android.... but maybe its still new?

Yes it is still very new. As with WinMo, you need a hacked ROM, but these aren't available yet for the Sprint Hero as it's only just been released. Once you've got a rooted ROM on your device, you should be able to use wireless wifi tether - the meantime, PDAnet is probably your best bet.

oem.inf
I would like to share my solution. I modified the oem.inf file in the oem.zip(attached) ,by changing the manufacturer name and device id as given in the PC 's device manager(unknown device).
It should work for xp,seven,vista.

Help! I'm stuck in the bootloader and I can't get out!

I'm unlocking a Verizon xv6800 to try and flash a new rom. This is my older phone but I've flashed it before to stock ROMs with no problems. This time, however, something seems to have gone wrong.
I ran the unlocker Olipro 2.40 and when it got to the point where I was to disable the USB, I went into WMDC and unchecked 'USB' connections just like it told me to, only when the application said to hit any key to continue, it told me:
'Cannot open USB port. Please make sure, that USB connection in Activesync is disabled. Also make sure, that your USB cable is properly connected.'
Well, I thought I did disable it. The letters 'USB' are showing up in the grey section of the bootloader screen whenever I plug it in, but somehow it's not connecting or something. Can anyone give me some pointers on how I could get this thing out of the bootloader screen on a Vista machine with WMDC? Thanks!
Ariel
Simple solution is to use XP and not vista to avoid all problems.
Well, of course, but at this point I'm sort of stuck with Vista - you know, like those poor saps that got computers with the Millenium Edition?
I tried something that seems to have snapped it out of it's lock, but I didn't exit - and I was wondering if I could get some more helpful information on how to do this with a Vista computer? Are you saying it's not possible?

Myabe download vmware server, install it, and install winxp into that, share the usb device and try might get you out of it. Its a long way around but it probably would work if done right.

Hmmm... I think it might be easier to try and find an XP machine I could use. So, you are saying that there's not a Vista version of the unlocker Olipro? I've already loaded radios and ROMs using this machine without issue, only unlocking has given me any problem.
Ariel
there is no operating system version of anything ppc. It is just that vista causes so many problems many choice to only flash with xp. Ask ryanmogul I seem to remember him using vista maybe.
Ok, thanks. That is the information I was looking for. It is very comforting to know there is such expertise in this stuff available here. Thank you for replying in so timely a manner.

HTC Hermes - Win 7 & WMDC Wierdness, renaming my device!

I have a still working quite well (not looking to upgrade till end of the year probably, looking at future Android and WM7 phones) 8525 w/WM6.1 ATT Rom.
I sync between 2 PC's.
Home - Win 7 HP
Work - Win XP Pro
I ran the Win 7 RC for a good 9 months with no issue at all syncing. I don't even remember having to download the Window Mobile Device Center software but maybe I did. But it worked fine and never an issue.
This March I installed Win 7 Home Premium, to get the Phone to Sycn I had to download the Mobile Device Center software which obviously I did. And it Sync's.
This is the wierd stuff. It always renames my device. Every time! I keep it named as JETS_TYTN and it's been like that for years. Now after a sync at home its renamed to WINDOWMOBILE67 with the last 2 numbers changing most everytime. So when I get to work so I don't lose my Data, I rename it back to my JETS_TYTN and then sync with my Work PC.
Win 7 RC did not do this. I cannot find a setting anywhere to prevent it from doing this.
Anyone else ever have this issue?
Thanks!

bricked another, but found a XP sp3 solution

yesterday, I bricked my AT&T X10a again trying to update to the generic Br/GEL. I had it replaced, they are starting to know me at the service center.
However, I found one solution in the process.
There have been postings regarding XP SP3 freezing when the X10 is connected in SEMC flash mode. The Plug'n'Play message comes up and explorer goes to all to hell, the mouse may still work, but the computer won't respond, etc. (XP is not a problem in SP2 according to my browsing.)
After extensively searching on the web different forums, et al, I found a message that said it won't happen in SAFE MODE. Since every computer here is xp sp3 and they all freeze, I thought this was worth a try. And yes, you can get through the driver install/recognition of the SEMC Flash without hanging. Programs can find the device.
Now, if I only knew why they only partially update.....
I may just wait for my kid to come home from college and use her laptop, it's Win7. But she also has a X10a and wants an upgrade, is the win7 device ID different for each phone or do identical models have the same ID?
I don't think it's even possible to brick an X10i/a at the moment since the bootloader isn't cracked...
when it's not a phone, it's a brick (or at least a tile)

Anytime it doesn't work as a phone anymore to me, it's bricked.
The last time (about a month ago), It went so far as to get the flashing symbol and afterwards wouldn't go into anything but flash mode, and wouldn't reflash. This time, it seems, just some of the firmware was overwritten, and it wouldn't recognize the sim card and just had the opening screen without the unlock and kept rebooting and retrying to 'activate' the card. So, it's useless to me, and I just had them swap me another phone. To me, it's bricked cause that's all it's good for.
I'm chalking it up to something peculiar in my XP SP3 setup at the moment. Though in safe mode, only a handful of services, et al are running and the AV/AS isn't even active, as well as most of the software on the PC. I don't know that I want to go so far as to remove SP3 just to update the phone everytime software comes out.
And the same system lockup occurs with the SE software when it's in flash mode which is why I could not do the 'repair' trick early on. I understand that SE is telling people to upgrade to Win7 or Vista or borrow a machine.

[Q] Luck involved in unlucking? ^^

My question:
Would it be fair to say that the succsess of unlocking WP7 is depending on a serious amount of skill and equaly as much luck?
Seems the activation key i have is kind of usless for activating WP7. I used to think i had at least, some computer skills, but my head is confussed and lost in this mess.
Im begining to think that Vodoo might be the answer And if you think thats how it is, could we clear some posts here, because its growing pretty fast and it still seems to be luck ("You know, i was leaning in sofa, tilted my keyboard") Well, thats my question, the red text is no need to read.
Lets be serious, this instructions isnt super science it self:
1. Install WP7 sdk Windows Phone Developer Tools; On it brother..
2. Install zune; Oh i feel you..
3. Make partneship with zune and phone; named it HD7 oh yeah, oh yeah
4. Attach the ChevronWP7.cer(you found in the toolkit) to your email and send the email to your email itself (On PC); Some google lov!! Oh im a big boy, i can handle it...
5. Login to your email account (On Phone), Open the email, Select attachment and install the cert;
6. Connect your phone to pc and make sure zune is running in background;
7. Run the unlocker (ChevronWP7.exe) and click unlock button(Make sure your phone date is set correctly)
(you need to close skype and disable network adapter.. hamachi.. wireless.. Dropbox.. coffie mashine, fridge, make sure doors are locked too. Wouldt it be easy to boot in to Safemode on PC, since nobody tried i havent =)
Like everybody else, Connect your phone or start zune, or if i forgett somthing and Ops, the instant crash. So once again, is it luck? (Cant belive me self asking this, but i have to)
There is only one way, look for the threads that are talking about unlocking WP7, there are many under the WP7 and HD2 fora, and just try everything. if everything fails try again and use different combinations. I also had the same problem, I tried everything and nothing worked.
One day while I was going to give up and go back to WM6.5 I tried to unlock the phone while I was connected to the internet. Guess what, it worked! Everyone is saying to disconnect from the internet, but for me it works only when I am connected! So, yeah, maybe it is a bit of luck, due to the device, maybe it is something else.
Just keep trying
I could never get past the ChevronWP7.exe bit. It would just not work for me.
I ended up giving up on that list of instructions completely and rang Microsoft. They gave me an activation code and everything worked after that.
I thought it was a requirement to follow those instructions, but it turns out I was wrong.
It hasn't do anything with luck or skills, just some logical sense.
Lets start at a freshly installed copy of windows. I use W7 Ultimate x64. Whereas x64 always gave compatibilty problems, seems like it's eating chevron unlocker for breakfast. If an x64 can do it, then an x86 (32bit) can surely do the same thing.
What I did. Clean system. Just w7, the drivers for graphics, motherboard, sound etc... basic things. No AV installed and windows firewall turned off.
Next, I installed thw WP7 SDK, then zune and even .net framework 4.
I have not edited any hosts file or closed any ports, because like I said, clean system, no skype and all.
Hooked the HD2 to the PC and let zune recognize it and doing some basic stuff like syncing.
Then disconnect the HD2 and put it in airplane mode and reconnected to pc.
Ofcourse, I had the unlock.certificate allready installed on my HD2. So, when Zune found my device, I used the unlocker. First attempt might fail, but the second attempt was mine. There you go, it couldn't be easier. No firmware.ipsw needed and unthethered. I even have set my date back to 2010 and it could still unlock.
Goodluck.

Your instructions are not correct so no matter how mant times you do that it won't work. If you follow the correct instructions it will work first time. It's not rocket science.
