Quickmark showing boxes instead of words

Am using the Dopot CT9000 with the English ROM and there is this program called Quickmark which I think is a name card scanning software. The thing is, all the instructions in the program are in boxes and not in English. Is there any way around this?
Does TyTN have this program?

Tell me pls the following:
1. Which language -exactly- have you installed on your device?
2. What filenames have the two files Quickmark.xxxx.dll (whereas xxxx stands for the landcode as defined by Microsoft).
Check this and post it here. Then there will be a solution for you.

1. I presume the language is english as everything else in my CT9000 is in English and all. The keyboard has some chinese strokes but that's the only thing chinese about it. My software version are as follows:
ROM: 1.23.707.1
ROM date: 06/28/06
Radio: 1.06.00.10
Protocol: 32.37.7010.01H
Is there any other information you need to know?

Delete QuickMark.0809.dll and rename QuickMark.0409.dll to QuickMark.0809.dll, that's it.

did you mean delete the quickmark.0804.dll file and rename the quickmark.0409.dll to quickmark.0809.dll?
if you did, i have done it and there is no change. even a soft reset does not seem to work.

QuickMark.0409.dll contains the english text.
QuickMark.0809.dll contains the chinese text.
So, delete QuickMark.0809.dll and either rename or copy QuickMark.0409.dll to QuickMark.0809.dll, so the program will always find the dll with the english text.

somehow its still not working. it still shows boxes. have done a soft reset. is there any other way?

i tried to install over the current installation and it doesnt work
i removed the original and installed this one and it doesnt work
i tried renaming the file in the new installation and it also doesnt work
by sayin it doenst work means it still shows the boxes.
any idea?

well Chinese isn’t Chines as is with German and German (or English and English) in the sense of localization as defined by Microsoft !
Just have a look at this most valuable “List of Locale IDs” published by Microsoft:

I had the same problem as you when I first started Quickmark and was even puzzled for a moment when I had restarted it again, having changed the locale ID to German.
All menue items kept showing up as little boxes – which is what one usually sees when there is a problem with the localization.
Resolution was that there is a special modified Locale ID for Austria !
(Here in Austria German is the official language, but there is a Local ID for German (Austria), which is 0c07 and for German (Standard = Germany), which is 0407.)
When I changed the English language file to Quickmark.0c07.dll (instead of the previously tried Quickmark.0407.dll) the English menue showed up again !
As you mentioned that on your keyboard you can see some Chinese keys I’d suppose your device isn’t a US-English version.
Also I’d assume from the flag you are using next to your nick that your native tongue isn’t English either, correct ?
What you should do:
Go to Settings | Language (or Localization or whatever it be called on your device) and check, which language you have set there.
Then look up the Locale ID for this language setting in the table (see link above).
Replace the Locale ID in the filename of the English language dll.
Reboot !!!
Now you should see the English menue instead of the boxes.

However I do not understand the Settings > Language part. Where can I find it? Under Regional Settings? Or somewhere else? I hope you can guide me on this as I could not find it.

Yeaaaah !!!
The QR Codes are a really cool application.
Actually in my opinion the coolest "fun" application I can think of.
(I am no gamer, so those games do not really phascinate me.)
However on a MS Smartphone (I have the Qtek 8300) and Nokia phones (tried it out on my 6680, whose camera is quite good) this application even works better:
You just have to point your phone onto a QR Code (can even be done rather fast and unprecise) and the action is triggered automatically - WITHOUT having to press a button, as on the TyTN !!!!!
This is a BIG advantage, because when pressing a button you move the device a tiny little bit.
And as the camera resolution of these phone devices aren't too high, this might be enough for not being able to decode the QR.
Actually I have no idea why Quickmark has decided to add this "Press a Button" requirement on the TyTN.
(Maybe they just ported the code and the automatic trigger mechanism is different on the Hermes platform.)
Anyway Quickmark should optimize this for the TyTN !!!!!

Which version of QuickMark did you use for Qtek 8300?

Multiple Languages?

Hey everyone! I have the HTC Touch Dual with 20 keys, but I have a problem. See, I've been living here in Spain for about 4 years now, and I had a blackberry prior to this purchase, with a full qwerty keyboard, so I had no need to change between languages and such. So my question is if there is a way to have both dictionaries (English + Spanish) together. I saw a friend with his iphone, he had both languages installed at once. I'm wondering if there's any way to use the predictive writing tool while having it look through 2 languages at once. Is that possible? Thanks!

So far nothing. No one has been able to help. I'm still asking around.

I need exactly the same , merge french & english

I just put in 14 in 1 language XT9 pack, and it works great, but still a pain when I have to switch languages everytime I want to type in a different language. Is there a way to remove languages that you don't want?

Can you briefly explain what you did?
If I unterstand correct, you _did_ copy multiple files into one (which and where?) and it seems to be working for you.
So why do you have to switch languages now? Shouldnt you be able to simply type and the T9 file (containing multiple language data bases) recognises possible matches from either of the contained languages?

Proposal: Is there a chance to write a brief macro toggling between languages and make it configurable by a simple GUI to choose the language files to switch?

Well, I just found that 14 in 1 cab, installed it, and restarted. Worked great! And STILL Works great! But now I have 14 languages I'd like to get rid of 12 of them Any ideas?
What I was saying is that what I have to do is click and hold the asterisk, bring up the menu, click XT9 Languages and then click the language I want. I wish there was a way to do it faster.

Please wait - it's still in work to be english. Meanwhile you can have a look for the German Cab - and switch the jmlaction.ini to english

It will be published with the new major release in MultiLang - with further functions.

OK - I made it meanwhile - you need only the german cab and the zip, I attached, to have the weather-forecast in English.

The German Cab installs on all resolutions - but the current themes are for vga and wvga - but you can edit the .plg-Files to make new Skins for qvga (so it's not limitted to Diamond). All Themes you can still find, works in 5.1.
Would be nice, if you would post it here - so it can integrated in the MultiLang major Release.

there is already a file called JMLAction.ini.english,i think that if you overwrite JMLAction.ini with this file,some things might change to english

no-thats the french names for weekdays and Dates-are you sure the installation is based on the german .cab of 5.1 ?
Is the weather forecast in english with the new jmlmeteo? (i was on way to disco and had only 10 min to look at the en-us-Feed and change the program)
but if the changes from xxmarkosxx works,then I can have a look to make a cab until the multilang release will come.
the changes won't work then anymore,but to make skins in the different resolutions-it would be very good.

Fine i'll try it with 5.0beta.
If u want the weather code for your city then go to weather.msn.com (as mentioned by Michel).
Then search for your city.
And then in the URL you'll get the code.
For eg:
h t t p ://meteo.msn.com/local.aspx?&wealocations=wc%3aINXX0164&q=Pune%2c+IND&setunit=C
This is for Pune,India...
And the weather code is "INXX0164" .

i don't know why but for some reason i can't update the weather.

yes you can update through active sync and wi-fi.
when you are on the weather tab, just click on it.... it will update.

Hey can you please put a screen shot of your JML??

Now we're running in a confusion - so much different files - I'm now at home and could take a look at the files above. The trick only with copy&paste doesn't work in JMLMeteo - the multilang is in preparation, like I said.
I better took a look at the original Framework (which I only had at home) - and switched it to english. Hope "Fahrenheit" is also better than "Celcius", too. Not all functions can be easily transfered in other languages - please be for this patient for the official release from JML.
I tried it - and on my German ROM it was in english then Also the weather forecast.
Please save your origin meteo icons - because I had the high resolutions in the framework. So you can change 'em like you want.
Please try it - then I can have a look for other resolutions - but at first it should run in English.
But - if it works - we would need the translations of the Texts in the jmlaction.ini in any other languages (it, sp, ...) for later updates.
Ok - let's try (uninstall/rename old JMLToday before - cab is multilang and installates in correct path - and of course please in Main Storage like every Titanium Plugin). Hope it works for you

temporary solution
I just tested with artermis v10 with the following

steps
1) download the attachment then extract all the files to a temp folder on your desktop
2) go files folder, copy & paste EzInputSettings.exe.0804.mui then rename the new file to EzInputSettings.exe.0409.mui
3) copy all the dll files from those folder name end with .ddl to parent folder (../files). you can skip HTCSipSrvc.dll
4) now go to your device, change SIP to other. change home to titanium
5) go to /windows folder and rename those dll file with same name you modified on your desktop temp folder to xxxx.dll.old( total is 11 files)
6) copy the temp folder on your desktop to your HD2
7) use total commander to move all the files inside files folder to /windows, replace all the dll & files (must make sure no overwrite error)
8) import app.reg
9) soft reset
Finally stock rom chinese support in WWE rom
Now just waiting for a kind soul to help to convert this into cab

Artermis ROM is using the global version of wince.nls, thats why make this possible. Eg: we can see the 5 chinese legions in setting....

Maybe try the following:
- rename the existing wince.nls to wince.nls.old then copy the new one.
- inside your registry... remove this key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink] then import the reg file from 1st post, if everything ok, only 5 entries will be recreated as following
"HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin"="\\windows\\UCSH00B-gray.ttf,AR CrystalHeiU20 Bold(gray);\\windows\\tahoma.ttf,Tahoma"
"Helvetica Neue OTS"="\\windows\\UCSH00B-gray.ttf,AR CrystalHeiU20 Bold(gray);\\windows\\tahoma.ttf,Tahoma"

replacing the wince.nls directly doesn't work. You need to use it with reloadnls.exe which will have to be in the startup folder. do a search for it and you will find your answers. I used to write a thread for this as well, so you can try to search for it.

that would be easy, if you guys really want it, I mean the traditional Chinese display and supports,
I may make 2 cabs tonight
cab 1: CHT display (mingliu.ttc, pretty fonts) and input (from Samsung HK keyboard),
cab 2: same as the above but added wince.nls with Chinese regions.
please pm to me to show your request in order to let me work on it ( I am currently using the second method )

Hi, HTC HD MINI users....

i just bought this phone from ebay...
problem is....... the phone is in italian language, and not english...
i am panicking for what i should do, because i called HTC and they said they have no solution to change it to english

i'm also ok with chinese language FOR NOW, if english isnt available....
because i see a chinese rom file for download in this forum, but i am also not sure how to install it after i downloaded the .exe file

Mine is also gonna be in Italian (ordered today) and want to change it into English or Spanish. I downloaded both official ROMs, but apparently we also need something called Hard SPL before flashing it, otherwise it won't work

can someone kindly direct us to, or teach us how to install these language roms?

Try BSB tweaks
Hi,
I don't actually own a hd mini, but I do have a friend who does own one and the problem she had was very similar to those mentioned on this thread.
So I suggested that she installs 'BsB tweaks' and she told me that although it doesn't change all of the interface into english(or french, spanish, dutch, german, italian, czech, portuguese) it does change the Manila language...
Steps:
1. Download BsB tweaks 1.6 (or newer if any)
2. Install BsB tweaks
3. Go to 'menu'
4. Click on 'manila language'
5. Select your desired language

As far as I know, my friend installed it on her hd mini without any problems...

Yes it works perfectly on Hd mini and most of the tweaks i've tried work too

yes its the best solution for now until the HSPL is out !

Little explanation since the thread starter seems to be new at flashing custom roms:
First of all, concerning your language problem. You should be able to at least change the HTC Manila into the language of your choice by customizing a registry setting. This is at least possible in other Manila Roms for other HTC Devices.
Second of all, Hard SPL is necessary to be able to flash a Custom Rom onto your HD Mini. This "unlocks" the phone. Might be a while until someone makes an SPL for this device. Warning, if your phone ever fails to work and you have to send it in then your warranty is NOT VALID anymore if you change the SPL.

Now, you can change your ROM the english ROM
the hack tools leaked.

I've just installed BsB Tweaks in my new HTC and i was able to changed most of functions from Swedish to English. I'm waiting for update which may support all the functions in my HTC. Thanks for the information

You will need to look at this page

Download the program. Follow the steps as he says..
Make a new folder and extract the file to that.
Then go to double u double u double u dot shipped-roms dot com /shipped/Photon/
and choose the ROM that you want (You can choose the latest Europe or Asia eg RUU_Photon_HTC_Europe_1.36.401.1_Radio_Signed_32.2803.05.06_0.63.05.36_Ship.exe or
RUU_Photon_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.07.707.1_Radio_Signed_20100305_Ship.exe
or GCC if you are in Middle East.
Then download this file and use win rar(right click on setup file and find to extract the RUU_signed.nbh file from this Europe or Asia ROM file to put in the folder u have made.
Run this and You will have English with the Latest ROM version!
It works 100 percent dont get scared by the trouble shooting comments!
Just read thru the pages and then follow wht I have told you!Plz comment how it went.

Open your ROM with OSKitchen and save it without changing anything. Than use SSPL. It worked with me.
