Hi,
I have this annoying problem with my Prophet. I cannot transmit or receive files through bluetooth. I thought it is a WM 5 thing, but it works on my friends smartphone and dell PDA.
Did i do the ROM upgrade incorrectly, or is this inline with the patch of bad luck that i am getting with my prophet?
Cheers,
Oz.
Please, describe what are you doing when you try to send/receive files...
Hi
Go to settings>connections>beam and make sure its ticked to "recieve all incoming beams"
To send files just search them using the provided file explorer, tap and hold and then select "beam file"
IT will then search for nearby BT devices. Click tap to send.
You can beam to loads of ppl at once as well, so thats cool.
The one thing I cant work out as of yet is how to change my default recieve directory from My Documents. I want to recieve files on my storage card *grrr* but I guess it will ahve to do for now.

I think all you have to do is Start/Settings/Connectoins/Beam and check receive all incoming beams. When you want to send a file via bluetooth, you select the file in File Explorer to bring up the beam. You will need to wait while WM finds the bluetooth devices (WM initially looks for infrared then bluetooth).
But here's the reg setting to answer your question...
15. Enable Bluetooth receive
Registry: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Obex
Key: IsEnabled (dWord)
Value: 1 = enabled
2 = disabled

It's funny how no matter how long you own these devices you never stop learning things. I have always had "spotty" ability to use the Bluetooth FTP service and this is why. Who would have thought you would have to turn on your infrared beam receive capability to make bluetooth receive also work. Very strange but thanks for the tip!

Yup, this has always been a problem with the MS BT stack. Also see my article I published about two months ago (it's worth reading all my articles because I've explained a LOT of never-before-explained issues like this) on the issue: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1196&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Hey!
I got a Hermes a while ago, and I still cant seem to figure out how to use the Bluetooth on it. I checked the help in my phone, and that didn't really help much either. I also don't understand how to send and receive files, and what COM ports are. Could someone explain to me how to use the Bluetooth on this phone?
Thanks in advance!
Click both boxes in the Bluetooth settings.
To send, highlight your file & click 'Beam', then a list of bluetooth devices will appear, select the one you want. Hey Presto!
Thanks!!
It seemed so simple when I clicked on those options! Do you know how to use the COM port and what the are for?
Hi all.
I have the old qtek 9100, flashed about 4 roms on it without any troubles thanks to the guides here. But every time , with everyone of these roms, I couldn't receive any data from any bluetooth phone . I can pair, send items, but i can't receive any data from the phones.
Also the pairing with my pc is working correctly, can send itrems from my pc to the wizard.
So anyone has this issue until now, or shoul I start reading all these topics again?
This usually happans when the 'Bluetooth Name' is different from your Owner name.
You might have tried installing Dr.Yar bluetooth and tried to change the name as it appears on other bluetooth search results, or perhaps you used some registry editor to change the name. Search the term 'bluetooth' with any registry editor and you'll find a key which shows the name of your bluetooth device as it appears on other's search result. You don't need to reflash it, you just need a hard rest. See if it works.
let us know if it doesn't.

My bluetooth name differed from my owner name, i changed it to both the same and gave the htc a soft reboot, but no luck. I can´t find anything in the registry considering the bluetooth name, where did you find that in the registry?
Did you try a hard reset? This problem doesn't solve itself if you simply reset the bluetooth device's name to the owner name. I think you have do a hard reset for that.
no tweaks in the registry, and above all, this issue happened from the first Wm5 original version and to the last of them, Wm6. Oh, and btw... the Dr.Yar Bluetooth app does not work in the version of TNT wm6, altough it has been cooked in this version.... And hard reset? It didn't worked, I thought it was some security issue with the bluetooth..

Hella all
First post
Got my HD love the Phone, but i have a slight problem, when i recieve Files via Bluetooth/Beam they dissapear into the abyss, i cannot find them anywhere, i have tried the search programme and traweld through every directory on my phone what if anything am i doing wrong?
slp
/Documents maybe ?
You are lucky to start ur WM experience with a device like HD
Nothing in /documents, i tried again today, wrote down the file name before it was sent so i couldn`t go wrong, did a search for the file, nothing found, its driving me mad
If you're using a programme like 'obex inbox' which lets you specify where to receive bluetooth files and if by chance you haven't configured it or configured it to receive files to 'My Device', then I believe you'll get the kind of behaviour you're describing. So, to check if you have obex inbox installed check in settings\connections and also in programs if it is there, and if it is, change the directory for receiving files.
Hopefully this should provide you some clue as to what might be going wrong...
Good Luck
Try /FTP in the storagecard. And to check if your phone received try sending an mp3 file then go to Music and click on Library > All Songs and your phone should search for every mp3 file. If the file couldn't be found there, then that means your phone failed to receive it!
Try DrYar bluetooth. It works much better, lets you specify incoming directory, and it installs an icon on main screen for quick bluetooth on/off . I had a lot of problems on my Hermes with default bluetooth also, and this is just so much better.
DrYar bluetooth
very quick silly question, cos i had a friend with the same issue.
When you are recieving the beam, you get the icon at the top. and when it has finished beaming, it is not yet saved, so you cannot access it. Now normally you should get a notification that you have received a file and ask you if you want to save it.
If the notification does not appear, tap the beam icon at the top and then it should.
tap yes and then it should appear in my documents or the folder you set in bluetooth FTP.
If it's not that, sorry for being daft, but you'd be amazed how many times i've been asked that on various different HTC phones...!
