HP IPAQ hw6945 Charging Problems!! - Sable

Hello everyone
I cannot charge my iPaq using my AC adapter cable from the last two weeks, but I am able to charge it using the cradle when the cradle is connected via USB. I am not able to charge it even when the cradle is connected using the AC adapter. I have bought a new HP AC adapter and the condition is the same. Need suggestions and help.
your help is appreciated

MDA II Will Not Charge Unless Laptop Is On

Hi folks,
Love my MDA II, but I can only get it to accept a charge when my laptop is turned on. If the unit is not plugged into USB or the laptop is not on, it won't charge.
What am I doing wrong?
Finally, I have noticed the last few days that the wall AC adaptor has not been plugged in, yet the MDA has been charging through the USB when the laptop is on.
My question is what is the point of having the AC adaptor if it serves no purpose.
I rechecked and pulled the USB and plugged in AC adaptor. No charging takes place.
you are doing nothing wrong. the power thru the usb port comes only when the laptop is powered up (whether the AC power is on or not ).
In other words u can
1. charge it from your laptop's battery but the laptop has to be turned on and it does not matter if the AC power of the laptop is plugged or not
2. you can charge the XDA directly thru its own AC adapter, independent of the laptop
The AC adapter does have a use, you can either use it in conjunction with the little square dc converter that you get free in the box to charge up the xda without the cradle, so you could have the cradle at home and tyhe AC adapter at home if you wished, and if you plug the AC adapter into the cradle you can charge an aditional battery, as the additional battery can not be charge via USB, Maybe xda developers may be able to frig the cradle to charge the additional battery in the future (hint hint)

XDAII charging via USB cable from a Seido Car Mount ?

I have the Seido GPS ready car mount for my old iPAQ 5550. This connected to my iPAQ via a USB connector about 4" long. The Seido gets power from the car adapter.
I'm not expecting the connector to fit my new XDAII, but am wondering whether a XDAII USB autosync cable will still power (ie charge) my XDAII ?
The USB autosync cable i'm thinking of is this...

Thanks in advance
PS does anyone know how long this cable is? IE 10 inches, 25, or 3-4 inches which would be ideal for me
Looking at the ad I would say the answer is no, it seems to e a sync cable rather than a sync/charge cable. You need the latter.
I bought a seidio powered mount for my xda and when I junked it out (for various reasons) I kept the small USB -> XDA cable. It charges my xda II fine from a cigarette lighter adapter.
I used to have an iPAQ H5555 before moving to the XDA II. Funny thing is that the voltage and current ratings of chargers for both units is the same, the USB dongles even LOOK the same but unfortunately the internal USB connections are different.
I bought a Seidio travel charger kit for my iPAQ and am still waiting on feedback from Seidio if they are going to release a XDA II USB dongle so that I can still use the travel pack.
My Compaq/HP in car charger had a removable USB dongle so I am currently using the dongle that came with my XDA II on the end of my Compaq/HP in car charger and it is working fine.

Have ordered an 8" USB Sync/Charging cable from Seidio...

Should do the trick (fingers xrossed).

Exec Charger

Hi Guys,
Is the charger on the XDA Exex the same as the other execs as I want to buy a car charger and they do not have any for the exec yet?
Thanks
I can't remember where I got mine from but I got a USB car charger for my XDA II or was it IIs and the USB cable connects to the cigarette bit - which means that I can just change cables and use the Exec USB cable in the car charger.
Not sure what to do about exec holders for the car yet? Anyone have any ideas.
Thanks
I've been charging mine in the car using a generic mini-usb charger that I used with my C500 phone...

Cannot charge with car charger can any expert help please

Cannot charge xda executive with car charger ,when connected nothing happens light does not go red and also the connection icon does not show
make sure you dont have a faulty charger... dont know what you are using but i believe most people use the cigarette lighter to usb converter and then just use the usb cable... also have you tried pressing the on and off swith with the charger plugged in ?

car charger
Hi and thanks for the fast reply mate <yes it is a new charger from o2 .
No i have not tried the on off with the switch ,but would i still be able to charge when i am using tomtom
Whell....I use the cigarette lighter to usb adapter and usb cable ...at times i have had to quik press the on/off swith and at times plug and unplug the cable to get it to charge ....I used this as a "jump start" method only and no problems after that with using it whillst on charge (even with tomtom)..... other than that you may have a faulty charger or fag lighter to usb adapter (I never seen what a o2 one looks like).

Is the charger one especially for the exec?
I found normal usb chargers for phones like V3 or a GPS charger cant supply enough current to charge an exec.
hi, yeah i have had this problem, and so have a few of my clients, seems that not enough juice flows through the non branded versions, unlike from o2's or Brodits cables
I found that a regular USB cable into a Cigarette Lighter -> USB Socket didn't work until I joined pin 4 to pin 5 on the USB B Mini plug. All of the adapters I had that worked, but only powered (no data, i.e. Brodit and mains adapter) seemed to have pin 4 joined to pin 5 (pin 4 isn't normally connected at all). Once I did that mod it worked fine.
Cheers,
Steve.

Orange shops carry a charger intended for HTC manufactured devices (i.e. the SPV C500/M500 range) which works fine. Only £9.99.

USB recharging weirdness

I can't locate a usb bob to test ultra-tiny pins on mini? usb so it's hard to triage this issue.
I bought sync/charge and charge cables from BoxWave...they work perfectly and allow me to charge my 8525, S9, 820 and Holux GPS from a battery pack, wall xformer, car charger usb, etc.
I then bought charge cables from JAVOedge.com and they don't work...they do charge my friend's 8525 though.
The JAVOedge cable won't charge my 8525 but will charge my Holux GPS.
Both charging cables are 2-wire and charge/sync cable appears to be 3-wire.
Although JAVOedge doesn't charge my 8525 when it is powered up...noticing another forum thread I powered 8525 down and now it DOES seem to be charging...at least orange light is on.
I recently bought Targus ultra-slim hub, VEC414S and Tumi Universal Slim PS....yet can't get a lockdown on exact usb charge-only cable reqts.
Why can I connect ANY device via USB directly to computer and it always charges with vanilla usb....yet same usb connected to powered standalone usb hub or charger/battery no workee. Is this due to 1A from computer usb and only 500ma from hub?
Any ideas? I'm confused without approp. BOB to check pins with multimeter.
