Unable to find storage card - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Hi BA seems to be playing up. Started to not recognise the storage card even if I try another, then sometimes it will. Have tried a soft reset, but reluctant to try a hard reset because will have to reinstall all again. Any advise please?
Thanks,
Al.
OS WM6.

That happens to me many times. First it does not recognized the original SD card that was on it so I thought it's the SD card. But the SD card was recognized by my desktop when I plugged it into it. So I tried another SD on my BA and same thing it does not recognized it. So it's the card reader on the BA itself. I opened up my BA, check the pins on the card reader, tried to clean it with just a dry cloth, I carefully bended each pin to make sure it will touch the pins on the SD and after that it recognized all the SD cards that I have. Though it's not advisable to open your BA cuz you might kill it. Hoe this helps! Cheers!

I actually had the same issue while I was using the original releases of WM5 and WM6, but sometime down the line I guess someone fixed it. It would randomly stop seeing the card for no apparent reason... never found out why, but after upgrading to 6.1, the problem was gone...
weird...

its pins issue, i had it too until i clean everything up

Magician SDIO

Over the last few weeks, I noticed my Safecom Wifi Card wasnt being recognised by my magician more and more frequently. I would have to soft reset with the card in the device to get it to recognise. Now it wont even do that
I have to turn off device and leave battery off for a few mins if I change SDIO.
Even if I remove my Storage card and replace it.....my SD goes.
I just performed a hard reset......no luck.....
This sucks.......My Jam is dying........
Anyone come accross this before?
i havent, but my jam every now and then doesnt read my sd card. for example i'll try to take a picture and it will tell me not enough memory. i open file explorer and my storage card isnt even there. soft resetting helps some times other times, it just comes back on its own. maybe dirt and lint is getting in the sd slot.. try cleaning the slot with a air can that are used to clean cleaboards and such.

MINI SD disappeared!

Hi guys... I have the worst problem since I bought this brilliant device: I was playing with a game (installed on the mini SD), and when I tried to save it told me I had not enough storage space. Puzzled, I ended the game and went back to the normal pda functions...just to find out my SD is not recognized anymore. Zero, nada. Disappeared. Tried to get it out and in again (a million times), and I don't even get the sound I used to get. I tried fitting the minisd to the sd adapter and put it in an old zire: the card works!Everything is there. But the wizard won't recognize it anymore. Tried soft reset and it didn't help... Not so keen on hard resetting unless it is the only option but...I'm dazed...It doesn't see it anymore.I admit I was playing the game at 240 mhhz (overclocked) but I had played it a million times already and everything was smooth... PLEASE HELP!
same here im having this problem. it's annoying as hell!

I have had the problem of the memory card seemingly disappearing.
On checking closer, I noticed I had 'Storage Card' and 'Storage Card2'
Storage Card had one file on it and everything else was still on Storage Card2.
By deleting Storage Card abd soft reset, all was restored.
This has happened a couple of time.
If this happens to you, make sure you delete the right one.
Storage card
I've never unlocked the extended rom (Storage_card_2), so i have just Storage Card, a 1 Gig Sandisk mini SD. Still, it dissapears a couple of times a day, and i must soft reset my wizard to appear again. Very, very frustrating
Missing data
Something similar has happened to mine as well....
I turned my PDA on and accessed the storage card just like I do on any other day, only to find that all of the files had disappeared!! Everything had gone - but when I went into the memory setting, where it tells you how much space is used on the card it is still showing up as being half full i.e. the data is still there but not showing up on explorer!!
What is this all about??!! It has never happened to me before!!
Just wish I could offer an explanation on how to fix this...
You can probably read those files in Windows. This memory card disappearing problem seems to occur frequently with Wizard. Lookslike some program keeps corrupting the memory card.
Format the card in Windows and put it back in your phone, it will most likely work.

If you format the card, surely it will wipe everything that was on there in the first place..?!
There must be a way of retrieving those missing files somehow without resorting to formatting...
The weird thing is, today I transferred a single file from my desktop to the Sd card (whilst in my XDA) and suddenly some of the missing files appeared...?!
Now to find the rest of them....
I would love to have storage card 2 or something like that, but all I get is...the same behaviour I'd get if NO sd was in. I don't want to hard reset UNLESS somebody can confirm me this works...I am so desperate, it kinda looks like the sd reader is dead...all of a sudden! Please guys help...
I hard resetted and still it doesn't work...I'll take it to a shop to repair...I am totally disappointed!
I had this, the card came back after I just placed it in a card reader, browsed it on a pc, then replaced it in the phone.

What is do
It happens to me too - if I go into file explorer, I see storage_card and storage_card_2. The contents of storage_card_2 are exactly those of my SD. If I delete storage_card, remove and re-insert my SD, storage_card_2 disappears and storage_card is as it should be...
It was an sd problem...as soon as I have formatted it started to work again...
hope that sorts it for you guys if you have this annoying problem...

Please Help, Serious Problem... MicroSD card not being recognized!

Hello,
I own an HTC Touch (Sprint), and the MicroSD card is not being recognized! I have reformatted the card multiple times (Fat32 in both Mac OS X and Windows XP), and both OS's see the card and all it's files fine. On the Touch, however, it is a different story. The phone recognized it fine, but then it started calling it Storage Card 2 (due to mail creating a Storage Card folder for attachments, I'm guessing, so this might not have any relation to the problem). Today, the card just randomly... went away. It stopped showing in File Explorer or any other application, after I opened the Storage Card 2 folder, which opened half-way, then closed. I reinserted the card, and it re-appeared, but when I tried to open it, it disappeared once again, and to never return again. I am now out of ideas. I have tried some registry edits to try to fix this problem, but to no avail.
The device does also not turn on when the card is inserted or removed. Does this mean that the hardware itself maybe to blame?
Any help would be HIGHLY appreciated!
Edit: It seems that the right connectors are not touching, and pushing the card up in a manner that makes them touch allows the device to successfully read the card! Any advice on what to do? Maybe I should add a small amount of tape to make the card thicker?
Edit: The device is now reading the card! I just moved the card up on the left side to make it touch the connectors, and now it seems to be working fine. I removed and re-inserted the card and it still works great.
Thank you,
Derek Wilkinson
Lol! The first thread I've seen answered in the original post! I knew you would find your answer.
Haha, yeah I just kept editing as I went rather than posting more...
But I really was worried that something was shorted, but everything is working fine now

my htc tytn doesn't recognize storage card

i have delited a program from my MSD Card and from that point my PDA does not recognize my storage card, the card is recognized by my computer, i have tryed other cards and the PDA does not recognise any of them,
does any one can help me please
1st try to clean out the sd card slot in case of something in there causing trouble. Use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust or anything. The reason I said use compressed air is because just blowing can leave moisture on the contacts causing corrosion sooner or later.
Backup the sd card then reformat it FAT32, put everything back on then see what happens.
If this doesn't work, see if it registers another sd card. If it does then it could be a problem with the card, if it doesn't then you might need to HR.
If you used backup software, now would be the time to use it...
Cheers...
I agree 100000000x times with this guy. I have owned my pre-owned Hermes for about two weeks and I was about to cry because ever since I have owned it, the sd card slot never worked. I even tried multiple cards and nothing worked. I was about to give up hope Once I tried using a can of air and cleaned the slot out thoroughly, the Hermes started recognizing the cards. I'm happy as hell now
I had the same problem, I just now placed a different storage card reads it, and it is playing.
It is palying this brand: "kingston SDCO2G" 2GB.

Not good: System freeze now ext SD card not readable...

Strange problem this morning.
I was moving pictures around using Fish Bowl Gallery. The app froze while deleting a picture/photo and had to reboot to get things going again. My phone then now cant read the external SD card. The phone is asking me to re-format.
I've very reluctant to format and looking for advice on what else I can do to fix this without reformatting the SD card.
With my reckoning I doubt there is much more I can do but thought better to ask just in case.
Strange:
I'm in the office so it's hard to use my PC for diagnostics as I don't have Hi Suite or drivers installed on the office PC.
Went up the road an bought a multi card USB adaptor ($7). The PC reads the card fine (which is great as I can now do a back up).
Will play with it a bit more and see what happens.
Maybe I am lucky but...
after backing up the SD card I popped it back in, rebooted and everything is back to "normal".
I had something like that on my card... i had to format it, and worked again, but know it corruptes the files or they disappear.
I runned some diagnostics tests and nothing appear.... no idea of what is happening with my samsung card :S
