Since I have now R2A Generic_UK I get the following error when sending EMAIL, SMS, etc.
the Error pops up: Messaging does not recognize the address, its either invalid or ..... want to send anyways///
After that I press anyways and it goes out. But this is just not right. Anybody has the same or knows what this is? Firmware bug or something with the Outlook sync?
And of course, anybody knows how to resolve this?
Thanks
PS
This happens with addresses that are in the phone/address book and ones that are just put in the send field and are not in the book!
SMS Recepeient not Recognized
I have the same problem with Xperia. It happened after i installed the update from Sonyerisson. Initially I thought it was a problem with SMS security software i had installed. However uninstalling did not help.
Anbody, any ideas?
thanks

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so move the topic if necessary.
A few weeks back I bought an X1(Branded Dutch T-Mobile Version) and I've been having problems with the receiving of SMS'. My Today screen indicates there are new messages, eg. SMS \ MMS: 1 unread. But when I check my messages there's nothing there. I tried to see if it may be a false positive, by having a friend send me a text message, but the number did increase, and the message box was still empty. I tried reseting the rom, which obviously killed the messages, but new messages are still not getting through.
Anybody else experiencing the same problem? Anybody know what is going on? How can I recover the (invisible) messags?
Thanks a bunch
that's weird. uh, really weird. it's either YOU have a bad rom/phone software so better have it checked OR your not looking in your SMS/MMS inbox but your outlook inbox instead.

i had the same prob, someone sent me a text and the phone froze, when i turned it on had that message. the only way i found to get rid of it was to delete the message coversation with the person.
i had the same problem, only a hard reset solves the problem. after the hardreset everythink worked fine. some other people at the german xperia board got the same problem.
I tried to hard-reset to no avail. Deleting previous conversations doesn't help. Even SMS' from unknown contacts stay hidden. When I try to export my messages using PIM Backup 2.8 It shows that I have 2 'Text Messages' folders in the export root. One with the hidden(unread) messages. And one with the visible ones. When I exported the messages and reimported them, they stayed hidden. When I wrote a program to parse the PIM Backup exported file. I could see that the hidden messages get properly exported.
Any ideas?
Hearing that the German based roms have troubles too, could it be a reg setting that is wrong, something with localization? I really hate that I have a Dutch rom.
i had this problem i simply hard reset it and it was gone...if this didnt work then try reflashing the orignal rom
I just ran into the same issue.
Funny is that I did hard reset on not flashed orginall Dutch T-mobile X1 which was working good. Well now it is not :/
Tip for others looking for a quick workaround: use uiggmo light panell to read them. The only way I found so far.
I am flashing mine today. (Before I will hand it over due to case issue).
I recently encountered this problem where my x1 says I have 1 new text but when I check my text messages there's no new text. Now my x1 keeps telling me that I have 1 unread text and it wont go away. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Any help would be appreciated.
same here! I was hoping to find a fix for this. I am running Touch-IT v5.04
Anyone know how to fix this???
1st time I solved by deleting mail database wich resides in the cemail file that's in the root of device (use totalcomander), keep in mind that this deletes also mail accounts.
2nd time it happened, I solved by deleting another SMS from manila interface.
since I applied the SMS fix to 5.04 it didn't happen again.
Hey!
Can you send SMS from your HD2?
I get no error message, but my messages are not sent, I get a warning sign on the right of the message bar. Also, when I long-press it, I have "Retry send" option.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Anyone knows how to fix it?
Same for me. Any ideas?
I can receive sms but cannot reply back
Huh, got it fixed myself
How-to:
1. Settings tab
2. Menu -> More
3. Connections
4. Advanced network
5. Scroll to the last tab (SMS Service)
6. Set it to GPRS Preferred or set it to GSM (it's probably set to GPRS now). If it's already set like that by default and not working, just try to switch it
7. Reboot
I was having a similar problem..
I was on the Tube and I pressed send sms... obviously I had no signal which was fine but when I got above ground I pressed retry and absolutely nothing happened. At all.
Had to reset in the end and delete the message in the outbox and start a fresh. Bloody annoying!!
Hi,
Although this thread is ancient, i see it's still open and named "SMS problems" which is exactly what I'm suffering from.
I just purchased my new HD2 this month and ever since I got it I can't send any SMS. Whenever I try to I get a message saying "unable to send message". I have set my message center number and everything but it still didn't work. I called the HTC help center and they told me I should install the hotfix from the HTC website but when I attempted that, it said it wasn't compatible with my device????
I upgraded my official ROM from 1.66.415.3 to xxxx.4 again using the updates from HTC main site. Again I got the same message.
Up till now I'm still not sure what the problem I have is, and have no clue what the hotfix really does!
Can anyone help me out in babysteps? I'm still new to this.
PS. I did look through the other forums for something similar. It seems everyone's sending texts but to the wrong people, lol.
HELP PLEASE!
hi guys!
a bit of a probelm here, wondering if anybody had the same or knows why it happens. everytime i send a txt or email it says 'cannot recognize one or more recipients or the address is not valid. Would you like to send the message anyway?'
i click yes and it sends but you can imagine how annoying that is.. it happens when i use contacts from my contact list and when i just type the number in.. any option- same story.. that only started happening after i upgraded my diamond2 with the new rom from htc

Perhaps you think you're typing the correct password...but you're not pressing the correct keys...
There are faults within the SMS app. These are:
* Messages queueing in the outbox - this is by far the most documented issue.
* Messages supposedly being sent but not arriving with the recipient for days and sometimes not ever.
* Messages going to a completely different recipient than the one replied to on the handset. This has happened to me twice now and the bogus recipient has always been someone I have had a conversation thread open with - ie this is not a completely random person on my contacts list. So say I have three open conversation threads going....and I reply to one person within one of those threads, on two occasions now the recipient has been another contact in a completely different conversation thread. Suffice to say I now have zero confidence when sending texts on the HD2 and limit what I say, bigtime.

I would highly recommend that you disable HTC Messaging.
Please refer to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
and
install NET framework 3.5
The SMS now works very fast and flawlessly.
Hi,I will send SMS to many people, more than 10, how?
There is a reg tweak to increase that limit. Install BsB tweaks 1.6 to make the change easily.
I've a problem with my HD2. When I receive sms, it sometimes hang. My supplier have changed it to Energy ROm and it's still giving me problem.
Also, it sometimes hang during charging.
Pls help.
HTC HD2 SMS Lag/Freeze issue resolved
Go to File Explorer then in My Device > TEMP folder and delete the SMSlistener_log file. Issue gets resolved.
Keep Deleting this file on regular basis or find out a way to disable it.
