No way to find a shortcut to an installed application - Touch HD General

Hi all,
I've just installed TomTom7 , and I'm not able to find a shortcut in start/programs/ , the only way to run it is to go to explorator and SD/prgrams files/ and run the exe file.
my question is,1/ why first I cannot find the icon in the last used application in the start menu after running it?
2/why there is no shortcut created automatically.
Thanks for your reply

maybe an installation error, should be a shortcut in the program group. At any rate, download total commander and simply make a shortcut for it.

how do i make my t-mo mda

run a program when the phone first starts up?
To be as short as you with your question:
WINDOWS > AUTOSTART
add shortcut or executable
well let me b a little more long winded so i can get a more specific answer...i want to take a program and automatically have it run whenever i turn on the phone...which would in-tern..make my life much easier...what would be the way for me to do such a thing...thank you in advance...i would appreeciate it
Yep, my answer is still the same:
Add a shortcut of that particular program to the WINDOWS AutoStart folder. You might have a shortcut for the program you want to run at startup in your START MENU ??? Open FILE EXPLORER (or similar applications), navigate to: C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and copy the shortcut. Now navigate to C:\Windows\AutoStart and paste the shortcut there.

Click to collapse
I'm confused. On my Apache, you place a shortcut to the program you want to run in "\Windows\Startup" I use Total Commander to make the shortcut, but there are other ways. Isn't the MDA the same?
It depends on your ROM version too!
If you do not have an AUTOSTART folder but a STARTUP folder then you have to put it in there! On my MDA it is called AUTOSTART

How can I make a program link for a .exe file?

I have an exe that I found that I would like to add to my programs list. Is there a quick way to do this?
I can run it from file manager, but would like it to show up on the start menu or in list of programs
What you need to do is copy the file into
my device / windows / start menu / programs. Then paste it as a shortcut.
Hope this helps.
the in built file explorer wont let u do that. try total commander
When i right-click (hold the finger to the file) i get the following menu where you can see : Send shortcut to programs. It becaomes available in programs then.
Create a shortcut to the exe file using your file explorer and place shortcut in /windows/start menu/programs.
Thanks for everyone's help! I got it to work.
Glad you got it sorted.

how to create a quick launch button for iGO 8.3.4.117940

well i have a small problem with my iGO 8.3.4.117940 that i couldn't solve...
i downloaded it, put it inside my HD2 and it is running fine when i press the iGO.exe button in the explorer.
how can i make a shortcut for it to the quick launch buttons?
i tried to look for it in the programs menu but i didn't find it.
maybe the problem is because i didn't installed it? (it didn't asked me to install the program, just to launch it...)
so....
maybe someone has an idea?
Long press the igo.exe and select copy on the context menu. Navigate to wherever you want to place the shortcut (\device\windows\start menu\programs\<whatever>), menu > edit > paste shortcut.
Job done.
SR
or you can use Total commander to create a shortcut which will do the same really
thanks a lot
it is working.

[PROBLEM] Need Help Editing 2 Cabs

Hello all, I am having trouble with 2 cabs, Bing, and SPBTv2.1 (freeware)
Bing: I cant install as EXT because of the issue with all of its wav files showing up in Sounds and Notifications... I even edit app.dat to redirect install path and it still shows up there.
When I try to install as cab via config_ap.txt, I receive an error that bing cannot be installed.
I am trying to install it to my Start Menu folders called "Apps", "GPS" and "Internet" instead of top level of start menu.
SpbTV: I cant install as EXT because the Video wont stream.
When I try to install it as cab, I edit the cab with WinCE cab manager to change the shortcut to install to my Start Menu folder called "Entertainment", but it always installs in top level of start menu (even when nothing in the cab has that setting and I delete the shortcut).
Can anyone try their hand at editing the 2 cabs (within the zip files) and see if you can manage to place their shortcuts to the Start Menu folders I mentioned above?
Much appreciated!
Did u
Did u interest to try mortscript method ??then u CAN install ur cab normally and then u CAN move ur shortcuts to ur desired folder with move commands....
U have to morscript cooked in ur rom and then create a mortscript and launch it via config_ap.txt at first boot so after the flash ur shortcuts are in ur desire folder....
Tell me if u interested this method I will post the commands...
Thanks

[REQ] Any Way to modify CAB installations

I'm curious if there is any way to modify the cab installations so that we can be asked which start menu folder we would like the shortcut to be placed in?
I have the Start Menu set up so nicely (thanks to Indagroove) but any time I update an app or install a new app I have to go move the link and then restart my phone so it does not appear in the 6.5.x Start Menu.
Any real developers have any ideas?
Way 1
buy "WinCE Cab Manager"
install it on your PC
open .cab files with it
modify .cab files
save .cab files
Way 2
same as above... but as someone who already has WinCE Cab Manager
Way 3
extract files in .cab
edit the files in the .cab with notepad, ultaredit,...
hope it will be ok
repack .cab
easy...
That's what I do now.
Oh well, thanks for replying though.
