At present I'm using S2U2, but reading all this about power consumption, I'm wondering what the other options are?

Love the features of S2U2 but still have a need for authorizing the access to the device.
The built-in password scheme is ok but it's a pain to type in the code to unlock on top of using S2U2.
Here is the request. How about modifying the S2U2 program to look for 'password gestures' before enabling the unlock feature?
There are at least 6 different gestures (left to right, right to left, top to bottom, bottom to top, CW circle, CCW circle) which can be used to form a password. If diagonals are added, then there could be 4 more gesture combinations.
Once a user picks a sequence of gestures (may be 4-8 gesture combinations), then S2U2 will wait for those gestures to be entered before enabling the unlocking of the device when the main slider is move to the right.
TIA.

You are a Junior Member and really need to understand the Forum etiquette. Post this in the thread where it belongs. A_C's S2U2 thread. A_C is the only one who make changes to his programs. He does from time to time authorize certain modifications to things but they are things that he has discussed it detail with the developers in his thread first. Don't go starting new threads when there is a perfectly good one going right now that he monitors. I am not saying your question isn't valid. It is just in the wrong spot.

Or G2U (Gesture2Unlock)
I searched, perhaps not hard enough, but - if I'm in an application such as Opera and I'm holding the phone sideways, and I hit the Home button, I get a the home screen is clearly sideways BUT it's solid black and doesn't respond except for "Phone" "Menu" and the taskbar at the top... If I lock the phone while in landscape mode, the Lock screen is sideways but the slider sometimes doesn't respond and the background is tiled.
Is there a registry setting or cab that will allow the Home and Lock screens to auto rotate (and function normally)? In fact if I could somehow just use the phone entirely in landscape mode that would be perfect I've found older threads that say it's not possible with sense 2.5. Guess I'm just looking for clarification.
I would like to know how to do this also. I have been looking for hours and I cant find anything on it. let me know please if you find anything, and I will do the same for you.
I tried bsb tweaks and it rotates the home screen, but the background doesn't display properly and I can't click anything until I rotate it back the right way.
I could have sworn I saw someone mention on here or another site how to do this but I can't remember who or where. oh well.
thanks,
michael
Found it
I found what we were looking for. I was searching the wrong forum.
The posts title is: Manila 2.5.1922: BG4All LANDSCAPE
The post is in the HTC Leo Apps and Themes sub-forum.
Would post a link, but it won't let me.
It's a manilla modification, and I think it may require certain ROMs. I have not read through the whole thing yet just wanted to post this to you because I said I would.
I have been searching for hours in the wrong forum. Oh well at least I found it.
Later,
Michael

Hi,
Thats an interesting one...I have no idea (until now I was a WM user), but I would be glad to kwno how to increase the timeout. Shouldn't it be locked to the display timeout? Would make sense in my opinion...

Bump......
What about setting the LEDs up to show notifications for new messages, new emails, missed calls, etc.?
Bump.......
This is nothing about development... please post in General instead of Development forum, you'll find your answer faster there next time.
oh really? i would say a) editing core android files is development and b) am i really getting advice from a noob?
There's this... Blinker - Button LED Notification
Still early days, but if he's got direct control over those buttons he might be able to change the timeout, and the app answers zyborg's post in any case.
I shall ask him.

I can't find the timeout... I guess its the same timeout like for the Lockscreen 5000ms.
I could only do a workarround, something like everytime when the light turns off... my app turns it on. But thats a little bit dirty ;-)
I imagine that this will not be easy, as there is a development thread over in the SGS forum about Back Light Notifications (BLN).
It can only be achieved through flashing a modified kernel - and as I understand it, the dev tried many different methods to get it to work until deciding on the current method.
Bumpage . . .
Hi I have looked on the fora and can't see anything along these lines but apologies if this turns out to be a repeat post after all.
I would like to know if there is some way by which I can select certain apps on my Leo not to allow autolocking. I use it as an ebook reader but I find that the screen locks before I get to the bottom of the page. while I realise I can just extend the idle time it takes to lock, I'd rather have the facility to exempt certain programs from the autolock function, so that, if I have an ebook oprn (I use Allreader) the screen will not lock..
Is this possible?
Many thanks,
Ad
All,
Is there a mod to prevent shut down via power menu unless the phone is unlocked?
Essentially to prevent random people from accessing your power menu and turning off your phone. (Especially in the case of theft and tracking apps)
I've seen VoidLock as an option, but it is a huge battery drainer because it monitors the screen whenever a button is touched.
Thanks in advance.
I have seen several threads on several different forums all asking about this. There was either no response or the OP of the thread was told to edit a few lines in the source and recompile...
Many people asked about having an option added either to ROM control or Settings to disable power menu on lockscreen, but I don't think it has happened yet.
I can't do it on virtuous (forget which one, think it's affinity)
