Adjust increment value for volume up/down - Touch HD General

Does anyone know if its possible to change the increment value for volume up/down? It seems to increase/decrease the volume by 20 each time the buttons are pressed. Would love to be able to adjust this to 10 or 25 instead.

I would like to know this too.
I'd like each time I press the side VOL UP or DOWN that the slider only moves 1 notch rather than 3 at a time. Sometimes when I'm in my bed listening to MP3's - 3 notches is too much!!!

I have same problem n asked a few days ago
I didnt find the best solution but found a solution none the less ..

realy needs someone to look at it and make it work with the touch hd (anyone?? please??)

Same problem for me.
This subject is talked in many threads here and in other forums but without any solution.
Any one can help please.
Thx

Yep - this really bugs me too when listening to music in a relatively quiet environment.

you can try using HD tweak to limit the max volume, i found that in doing this it decreased the amount of volume change per bar, of course this also limits the max volume to can ever have so its your call but setting it to its lowest seems plenty loud enough for me.
Its not perfect or even a solution but its a start.
whats really enoying is the alarm, you simply cant get windows basic alarm to be quiet, its either off or too loud, G-Alarm takes care of this however.

any leads on this? im assuming it is set somewhere in the registry? ideas guys??
cheers]
Mat

Nothing new about that ?

You can set the max music volume indipendantly to system volume. I have music volume set to 25% which makes is listenable across the whole range of system volumes.
I use Julien Schapmen's excellent Advanced Config Tool to set music volume, it's under the HTC Audio Manager section.

i guess there should be a reg value for this
Thank you

I'm guessing a software volume controller
and using a button mapper
could get around this

Use the dpad left and right to change the Sprint TV volume.
-Polen
also under HKLM/SOFTWARE/SPRINT TV there is a registry entry for volume
up it to 100 (any higher doesnt make a difference) and you will notice it gets louder, (that may not be the exact location above, i dont have my device on me ATM so im going from memory)
Thanks. I've tried both sugestions (d-pad while in player and the reg key) and neither seemed to increase the volume at all. It just seems very soft. I guess I was expective the volume to be close to that of windows media or the phone speaker.
Reg: I found 2 keys...
HKLM\\Software\SpintTV\Volume=20. Changed to 100 with no change.
HKCU\\Software\SprintTV\Volume=60. Changed to 100, no change.
Make sure both the sliders on the volume control are max and you'll get more volume whether it be ringer, music player, etc.
One seems to do front speaker the other back speaker.
Since it changes ringer volume too, you got to turn it back down when you're done with tv etc.
Seems to me they should be independent but that's how it works.
THAT DID IT! Thank You! Man I love these forums. WM is so 'obvious' sometimes. ??
Also note...
1. I changed the Reg Keys back to their defaults (HKLM\S.W.\SprintTV\V=20, HKCU\S.W.\SprintTV\V=60).
2. Made sure both Device and Phone Vol @ max
3. Went into Sprint TV and Tested the volume. On enter it was low. I increased it with the D-Pad. MAX Volume was achieved. Nice.
4. Went back into the reg key and the HKLM path had moved from 20 to 100on it own. So it looks like the d-pad is directly moving the "HKLM\S.W.\SprintTV\Volume=X. Haven't seen the HKCU path update. So I'm going to leave that one at default of 60.
Thanks again. You guys rock.
When I installed 6.1 Rev A on my phone and downloaded the sprinttv.cab the issue with the low volume went away.

Headphone volume...

Unlike all the other volume related posts I've found, I seem to have the opposite problem LOL
When working, or late at night when everything else is dead quiet, I've been using my HD to listen to radio / youtube (ok, not strictly working then ), but I'm finding that even on the lowest setting, the volume is actually very loud.
One more down click on the volume buttons turns the volume off, but one click up from silent is too loud for background noise.
I know I could adjust it via the on-screen volume slider app, but that's just a faff!
Is there any way to adjust the volume control buttons so that it takes (say) 10 or 20 clicks to get from off to max, rather than just 3 or 4 as it does now?
Or perhaps I'm just getting old ("turn that racket down son" as my Dad used to tell me...)
Stupid thing is that with the Diamond you could also adjust the volume in the same way (taking steps of 3 bars in the volume overview) but when touching the screen you could increment/decrement with 1 bar accuracy, allowing much better volume control. When I try this on the HD, it skips 3 bars as well...
Argh why remove this feature??
dunno - but it's begining to do my head in...
I've resorted to digging out an old set of headphones which have a volume dial on them
Just tested the mp3 player and found the same problem, very annoying. Be good if someone could make a fix
If you're using Coreplayer, you could assign the volume button to control the volume up and volume down. In addition, in the setting you could choose whether to change the volume in 1% or 10% increments. I always use this option to get the EXACT volume that I want. This is very important when I listen to music before going to bed. With the 10% increment default, it is too loud for me to fall asleep even at 10% loudness, hence I always use this feature in Coreplayer.
Nice on eaglesteve, cheers
I wasn't using it, but at least I know now that I could
TTdegs wanders off to download a bunch of coffee break length tube videos for import...

That works OK for me, can adjust to the single bar you click on with more resolution than the buttons - I also need to do this to get a low enough headphone level.

Cant adjust in call Volume

guys ive seen som eposts about problems with volume but i cant find a solution for my problem
when in a call i cant adjust the volume???????
when i push up or down the volume screen appears and it moves up and down but it doesnt actually decrease or increase the volume??? any ideas please?
ive tried the system tab and also the ring tab
its really loud and quite annoying
Do you have S2U2 installed? Encountered a similar problem with this S/W installed....had to remove it unfortunately, after using it on several previous devices.....
hmm no i dont have s2u2 installed, il have to see if i installed something that caused this
anyone?????????
got the same pronblem... not sure since when. I have installed s2u2, but set it like recommended by other users who definitely CAN control the in-call-volume... got no idea... looks like a hard-reset may be necessaray... but I just don't want ang got no time... ****...
regards jan
I CAN control the volume, but it doesn't go to zero. I mean the minimum value is still high.
earpiece volume too low
i thought i'd post this here: i have found the earpiece volume during a call to be rather too low, even though i set the volume to the highest level. other aspects of the sound function seem to work nicely, loud speaker and headphones are pretty loud, but the earpiece is too damn low. any thoughts..
any idea if HD tweak can increase the earpiece volume
i found that option 3.3 acoustic setting when set to maximal increased my earpiece volume dramatically during calls. and that option 3.4 increase sound increases the ringer volume. can anyone confirm
i just got my HTC HD...my happiness knew no bounds...
but when i made calls...the world fell on me ...the ear piece volume is too low compared to other mobiles; its hardly hearable
i might be missing something...plz help me as soon as possible

could it be the simple issue that, by default, HD changes the ring volume and not the speaker volume when you press volume rocker?
you can check this and if this is your problem, do a search through the forum and you will find the registry tweak, or the volume cab to change this.
good luck!
Hi folks,
found another possible reason (but unfortunaly no solution yet) for in-call volume control not working... as this thread mainly focuses on s2u2, i've opened a new one here

some questions about customization...

hi there!
i just got my hd last week and i played around with it only a little with help and advise from a friend whos active here on the board...
still i have some questions about some things i was unable to solve:
1.) the sound of my phone while playing music via earplugs is way too loud. while 20% were set as default when switching the phone on in the first place, setting the volume to 1 or 2% still is too loud for me. how can i adjust the sound volume to a more "normal" level? (meaning that i can set the volume to ~5% as "hard to hear anything" and 100% as "extreme loud"). don't get me wrong. i like loud music but this is definitly too much... using the slide2play-player is sth like a workaround for this since it comes with a seperate volume controller but this isn't a real solution...
2.) how do i set the sound volume via the side-buttons in SMALL steps? like 2% per click. clicking up or down once in/decreases the volume by ~20%. this is no way to use this. especially combined with problem #1...
3.) this is nothing software-related, but i'm searching for a (wired) headset for my touch hd with a control on it to adjust the volume, control the music player (play, pause, next and last track), take and end calls. like the hpm-82 for sony-ericsson handys. important: in-ear-plugs! searched around a bit, but found nothing...
noone here with an idea?
For me was also very loud, but now i'm using WMP with which also i can adjust loudness.....But with any player and you can adjust with it....
for #1: is there a "general" volume setting (somewhere hidden in windows) i can adjust?
there are some tweaks in advanced config which help you BOOST the volume but for decreasing it i dont know. anyway about #2 it's an issue that i would like to see solved as well... i somewhat managed to sortof workaround it by invoking the menu screen with the volume hardkeys and then tapping on the desired volume level directly with finger. of course it's all but handy, still it works.

[GUIDE] Lower the overall sound volume of your HTC ONE

NOTE! This lowers ALL volumes if you leave it on! Even alarms and notifications so remember to turn it off when you are done!
I would not recommend using this method at high volumes for extended periods of time. Obligatory "I'm not responsible for broken speakers, this is just my workaround method. I didn't develop the app, it was just recommended to me."
This may sound odd to some, but the speakers for the HTC ONE have always been too loud for me. They are certainly great speakers but I've never really needed them at max volume for anything. I use my ONE at night and in public a lot where the volume shouldn't be loud so I don't disrupt anyone. It took me a while to find any sort of answer of how to lower the volume since even on 1/15 it's still too loud compared to all my other phones and gaming devices. Note that I have the 30 step volume mod, InsertCoin Rom, and BulletProof Kernel, but I don't think it makes a difference for this.
Guide:
Leave Beats Audio On because it's awesome
Lower your volume to its lowest setting for the time being
Go to the Google Play Store and install the free app "Music Volume EQ'
Open it and tap 'EQ' at the bottom of the popup
Make sure it's set to 'ON' at the top left
Now change the sliders:
60Hz raised to +5
230HZ lowered to -5
910HZ lowered to -15
3kHZ lowered to -15
14 kHZ lowered to -15
Your volume should be significantly lower and I believe this is the safest setting to use with any volume level.
For even LOWER volume, set the Bass Boost to its lowest value(knob turned to the lower left) and turn it ON
Set the Virtualizer to its lowest value and set that to ON
This increases the bass even more though so it could damage your speakers over time if you use it on high volumes.
Now you can navigate away from the app by either hitting the power button at the top right of the app or by hitting BACK twice and try playing music or games to make sure it sounds right to you, if not then try adjusting those settings above. You can lower all the sliders to -15 if you'd like, but the sound quality starts to deteriorate in my opinion.
When you are done with your quiet session you can simply tap on the Music Volume EQ notification from the drop down menu and turn it off with the button at the top left!
With this I am able to play my games around others without disturbing anyone
If anyone has any corrections to this, safety warnings, or links(like if this type of guide exists and I'm just blind) please let me know. I have gained so much from this community and haven't contributed much other than "thanks" buttons.
THANK YOU! I've been looking for how to do this! The volume on this thing is just way too loud, even on the lowest sometimes!
Thank you very much for this. Now to find something similar for screen brightness. All the apps for brightness just add an overlay which makes the whole screen muddy looking.

You're looking for Lux Lite on the Play Store. It will lower your brightness to pitch black if you want, it's one of the most recommended brightness apps for any droid.
when I try to run this app I get this error..."htc one dm stopped working" ....Anybody else?
Was looking for a way to lower the volume for listening music on speaker mode. Came across this thread and it works perfectly. Many thanks!

^ Exactly what he said.
Many Thanks for sharing this! I have been watching movies on my HTC One at night and like you said, even the lowest 1/15 volume setting is way too loud. My earphones are broken so i can only use the loudspeakers on the phone itself. I just installed XVolume which is an Xposed mod but it is in Beta 5 and the mod doesn't work for HTC One. I wanted to leave feedback in its development thread but the latter is apparently abandoned since the thread is closed. Anyway, i will try your method right now.
Just a note to everyone (and maybe this info should be added to the main post for security) there are 2 softwares with the same name in the store but i think K&K is the right one since it has millions of downloads.
Update: Your method works! And i have found another software which claims to do the same thing but it's paid and only available as trial in the google play store: Fine Volume Control V2
