Ok im going to return my g1 because it goes straight to recovery mode. They said they were going to send me another one but the problem is that i got JFv1.41. I cant go to boot mode to go back to RC29. Will I get in trouble if i send it in with JFv1.41?
Please help...
Probably wont get a replacement. If it goes into recovery then turn phone off, pull sd card, put jf's rc33 update on sd card, put sd card back in g1 and run update to get it going again.
If i put RC33 on it would i get a replacement now with RC33?

First things first, you need to get g1 going again. Once you get it running again the follow this link on downgrading to factory. You have to get it going, flash back to rc29, then if you choose you can flash rc33 official rom but thats up to you. The important thing is to get it back to original state though. Then you can return it once you are all done setting it back to the way you got it.

Ok what if i cant get it pass recovery do you think tmobile will check. Will they give me a fine for hacking it.

I get the exclamation mark screen after the G1 screen now when I try to flash either the RC29, RC30 or RC33 stock images.
I unrooted with the original SPL and then RC29 and then RC30.
When I attempted RC33 i started getting the exclamation mark.
So I tried multiple times with multiple Mini SD cards, and also tried to redo RC29, and 30 also, they are now getting the exclamation when i hold home and power.
Phone is working, I just cannot flash any other images and im stuck on RC30.
Any ideas? im all out.

Did you re-root before after flashing RC29 and before flashing RC33? Or is your goal an OEM "non-rooted" phone?
This may help if root/RC33 is your goal...

If u want to go back to stock download the spl i just attached and update it on ur fone then grab the rc29 from the sticky on how to root hack ur g1. When u do that i have these updates so u can upgrade ur firmware u must apply the rc30 first then the rc33 if not it wont work.

Unfortunatly, that is the process I used and got the exclamation on the rc33 step.
I've tried also rc30, and rc29 over and over with different sd cards, always formating fat32 before putting the dreaimg on them, every version gives me exclamation
when u apply the DREAM.nbh img does the fone go to the homescreen

I ended up just sending it back to TMobile with RC30, hope they dont mind =] <crosses fingers>
The image I had for rc33 was in update.zip format. I was pretty sure when I downloaded it that it was the stock version of rc33.
But not an issue anymore. Thank you anyway!
yurplez no problem
I downloaded JACHero2.3.6 and it keeps saying "failed". Now my phone wont boot up. It keeps going back to the recovery utility. How do I fix this ?
Redownload the rom and reflash. Might have been a bad download, it happens.
My phone wont get past the welcome screen. It keeps restarting then it goes to "Android System Recovery Utility Build".... How do I reload the rom ?
As mentioned re download the rom.
To reflash just throw the update.zip on the root of your sd card, boot in to recovery and alt-s.
You will want to wipe first and also format your ext partition (load the console and type "rm -r /system/sd/*" without the quotes).

Redownload the rom on your pc. Then either mount your phone like the above poster said or if you have a card reader put your card in there and update like normal.

It also sounds like you don't have the new SPL installed. No Hero ROM will work without it.

True, I didn't even think about that. I guess thats why people need to write more information instead of saying "It doesn't work, what do I do?"
Thanks people. I was able to get R33 on it again. However, I am trying to get cupcake 1.5. It doesnt seem as if any of the links to it are valid.

If you want to keep your phone rooted then you will want JesusFreke's 1.51 Search google for JesusFreke's Andblog and it links to the ROM. If you want to just get a standard OTA cupcake, i would keep trying google...

Ummm...there's 100 threads that state YOU MUST FLASH NEW RADIO THEN SPL, including Jac's official thread.
Ok so here's the problem...
I was able to root my Rogers Dream but then I messed up with trying to partition the sd card. It was then that it would not go past the rogers screen. After A LOT of reading I downloaded what I thought would the files I need to simply restore the phone to factory. Long story short, if I just turn the phone on it sits at the Rogers screen, I no longer have recovery mode and my fast boot goes to a RGBW screen with Serial0.
Also on the FastBoot screen it states:
DREA210 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.2.19.26I
I really just want to return the phone to the state it was before rooting it (store bought state). But because I can't access the fastboot through USB or even get to the Engineering SPL I'm really..really stuck!!
If I can get the proper FastBoot loaded somehow I think I can restore the rest.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
no it is not bricked, try removing the sdcard
Still nothing.
Also if I press Home+Power or Camera+Power it still ends up at the same RGBW screen.
No, it isn't bricked
You are stuck at the stock SPL. I'm not sure about rogers but for tmobile you would want to put dreaimg.nbh on the root your SD card, load up the SPL. Flash dreaimg.nbh. Then it should boot into rc29 (I believe). Get root access, flash whatever flavor of recovery you want. Then boot into recovery and flash whatever SPL you want. Then you can get back into the SPL and restore whatever nandroid backup you had.
Again, this is what I would do on tmobile. Not sure about rogers, but I would assume since you would be loading your own backup everything will be peachy.
Ya I hear what you're saying. The problem is I can't seem to find an original Rogers DREAIMG.nbh file anywhere. I think I might be SOL and have to take into Rogers to get it fixed. I'm just not sure if I've voided the warranty or not.
I'm stuck at the exact same place - Rogers phone same, settings, screwed up somewhere along the way.
HTC told me (over the phone) that I can call Rogers and request service on my phone for them to flash it back to the original Rogers ROM because they're the carrier, but this would mean sending the device in..... Whether they'll do it or not, I do not know, but right now I'm trying to simply update to the engineering SPL and go from there. Stupid 0.95.0000 version is screwing everything up.
And I haven't been able to find any Rogers .NBH files ANYWHERE that would allow me to get back to factory settings. At this point, I'd be happy to know that I"m getting 3G and can install a custom ROM on my phone so that it'll at least work the way I want it to.
try here >>>>>> http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream/Magic32B_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
dl the rc7 for europe and see if the fastboot recs it. if not try and find the system.img for rogers and ill tell you how to flash it via fastboot. if you had the system img it would already be good. no use of the nbh. also what is dif from dream and g1 besides apns and a small other few things?? if nothing then why not flash the g1 dreamimg?? once thats good then root and get it finalized? just wondering.
EDIT: I searched more for you. dont try my idea. im kinda dumb lol. i forgot that rogers and tmobile have dif boards. so this wont work and might brick you. so dont listen to me. sorry for missleading. im use to g1's in the usa sorry. ill keep searching for anything for you thou.
EDIT2: in fastboot can you >>>>> fastboot boot "name_of_your_recovery.img" ???
try that in fastboot to see if you can get into recovery. if you have no idea what i mean let me know so i can give some sdk instructions.
Unfortunately I can't because even though I can fastboot it won't allow me to connect to the laptop via usb. Basically the phone never gets to that point.

I know! I can't believe out of every bit of information on how to root an Android phone there is basically nothing on how to fix it. At least for anyone using Rogers.
DO what I did, I had the same issue (T-mo) I used a micro Sd "converter" if you will...........and plugged it into my laptop's SD reader, copied the files over, and VIOLA!
I actually thought I bricked it 5 times.

I think you've misunderstood.. fastboot mode on the phone enables you to use the fastboot program on your pc to send commands. You can use it to boot a recovery image and flash the files you need to fix this. There's a sticky thread detailing how to set up and use fastboot in Q&A.
Does anyone...anyone at all know where I can get the official Rogers HTC dreaimg.nbh file? I have searched high and low and can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm pretty sure if I can get my hands on it I can fix the phone.
Thanks in advance.

there is no rogers dreaimg.nbh
Hi,
How did you root your phone?
can you still boot into the recovery img? (home+power)
If you cant, try get back the recovery img (e.g. cm-recovery-1.4.img) and then home+power again. From there you should be able to update your spl to hardspl
Unfortunately I can't boot into fastboot any longer I just get the red/green/blue/white screen. This happens with both Home+Power or Camera+Power so I can't even use adb to force the images onto the phone.
Thanks for the help though.
Well problem solved (sort of).
I contacted Rogers and they're going to send me out a new phone and have me return the "defective" one.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions.
I'm stuck so maybe the rom didn't load onto the sd card correctly? It just stays on the logo forever. I can pull the battery and get back to the screen so i can do a wipe and reload the rom then reboot it, but it just stays on the logo. I will put a fresh rom or a different rom to see if that does anything.
ok so I put cyanogen's 1.51 build on and it booted up
Maybe the other one was corrupt. But I want to put the newer one on later.
No need for double posting, simply merge your two comments by editing your initial post.
but why are you running such an old build of cyanogen?
yeah I should have remembered to edit
I tried putting the latest one, but for some reason it kept hanging up on the logo. I just decided to try a previous one. I can try the new one again. I put the wireless tether program on and it's pretty nice, so no rush for now. Do you recommend a rom that gives it a different look?
When I want to change the rom but keep all my programs I can do that right? I know there is a way to back up what I have, but I'm not sure if it will just back up the programs and reinstall them onto the new rom.
Wow what took you so long to upgrade? Anyway if you go to Cyanogen's post and follow his instructions he posts on his website you shouldn't have a problem. There is probably a couple updates you need to do to the phone itself before you can even upgrade the rom
Technically I don't have the phone yet, but don't tell my gf.

It's supposed to be a xmas gift. I followed the root and other instructions to a Tee, but it just did that. So I tried the one that was out just before that and it worked. I will try it again later, but I want to read so more and figure out how to keep all my programs. Will I have to reinstall them all over even if I back them up?
Well, the time has come and I've got a new phone coming today. I struggled a bit putting my HTC One M8 back to stock so just trying to get the ball rolling for the 10 now. I looked around but didn't find any thread with a clear cut way to go back to stock from a rooted/bootloader unlocked phone. Anyone have a link or any tips or anything?
Thanks in advance.

Easiest way is to just run an RUU on it. Go here and grab the latest RUU.exe from OMJ. https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-10/development/ruu-sprint-htc-10-1-24-651-3-t3379257
It's an executable file that runs on your computer while the phone is plugged in. Make sure you back up any data on the phone because it'll wipe everything and overwrite the whole shabang.
Perfect, thank you.
I remember having issues doing the same on my M8 but that was quite some time ago so didn't know if there was a guide or something out there. I'll give this a shot after I've got the new phone up and running for a few days.
Thanks again.

No worries.
Just read the thread OMJ has and you'll know what to do. Only thing you'll need are HTC drivers, but a lot of times Windows automatically downloads the right one. Not always though. If you have any trouble with the drivers just give a shout. We'll help you find them.

Does RUU flashing restore the stock recovery too? Or do I have to reflash stock recovery after or before the ruu is installed?
Does ruu installation remain the sd card untouched or is it better to get it out from my device?
Thanks

RUU flashes the stock recovery as well. No need to flash anything after the RUU has been applied. It doesn't touch your SD card, but I'd remove it just in case. You never know when an SD card could get corrupted.

Thanks for quick answers, will flash ruu this evening! And indeed, it's a bit of wisdom to get the sd card out of the device
