Hi
I'm wondering if there is a way to set permission rules for programs to connect to the internet
eg:
program1: wifi only between 9:00 and 10:00
program2: EDGE only
program3: either
the closest thing I found is this http://wm-6.handster.com/software.php?id=2202&for=WM+6 but its based on ports, I'd like it to be based on programs

Hi,
I have serched the web and thought about coding my own solution but even cabn't find info for that.
Does anyone know a way that i can set pocket outlook to only sync every 5 mins when it is on a wifi connection.
Issue is that i spend 90% of the day in my stores that have a wifi network running and i don't pay for the data at an huge wap price.
IF anyone knows the location of this in the registry that would be a help also cause i will just write a .net app.
I will post any solution here that i find.
Hi,
I have configured 2 modems in my connection settings to access the internet.
One uses the fast internet access point and the 2nd one is based on the WAP access point that also gives HTTP access to the internet. Both are based on 3G.
Now the WAP access is unlimited so i want to use it most of the times for programs that use HTTP (weather updated, internet browsing, RSS feeds), sync with exchange, etc.
Some programs do not work with the WAP access point and only connect through regular internet access (like: gmail mailbox, fring, etc.).
My question:
Is there a way to configure the connection modem applications will use?
Or is there a way to select on demand which connection to use when internet connection is needed?
or is there any 3rd party SW to help me?
Thanks, Ori.
Hello All,
I'm developing a C++ application for the android that needs to talk
with a server whenever there is an internet connection available. If
the internet connection is cut-off the application needs to "sleep" in
order to reduce the battery consumption. If the internet connection is
back the application should "awake".
I'm searching for any kind of event notification available for C++. I
don't want to use pooling.
I know that in java we receive these notifications from the
connectivity service. Can we trap them natively?
Thanks,
Carlos B.
Hi all you techie genius out there,
Is there a plugin for weather and push box suggested it to connect only when wifi is available ?
Or a wifi plugin in which we can add application as per connection preferences ?.
Ex- restrict an app using data connection and connects only wifi is availalble and also as per specified time (peak hour).
Any help is very much appreciated.
I have recently purchased an LG Vortex that comes with the Android 2.2 operating system installed. I have looked into rooting my phone with z4root and have successfully temporarily rooted my phone. I would rather keep my phone unrooted, but if it is absolutely necessary I will root it permanently with z4root.
My question is this: How can I connect to my company wifi and use apps that require wifi?
I can successfully connect to my corporate wifi through the 802.1x EAP protocol. The problem comes when trying to access any of the apps that require internet (I am forcing Verizon's data plan not to be used--using wifi only due to 150MB limit on my data to save $$ per month). None of my apps seem to work--internet browser, Market, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc...
On my company pc I know that within internet explorer the box is checked that says "Use automatic configuration script" and gives an "Address" that is in the format of "..../proxy.pac" It looks like my work uses a proxy for things to connect to the internet. I have no such place to put this information in my LG Vortex. I downloaded an app that seemed promising called "Proxy Settings" which will allow me to enter in the following Hostname and Port. When I tried to enter the "..../proxy.pac" as the hostname it gave me an error stating "The hostname you typed is not valid."
Is there an app or something that will allow me to use my apps when connecting to my corporate wifi? Is it a proxy setting thing or a VPN thing? I am not sure. I am open to any and every idea so that I can use my phone's online features while connected to my company's wifi.
FYI - I have friends that have iPod touches and they are able to connect to the internet with some apps internet browsing and downloading apps, but they have a similar issue of not being able to use all of their apps as well. I believe they were able to put the "..../proxy.pac" address in their devices somewhere.
Thanks!
abarkena, check out Autoproxy on the market. You can add a new proxy, put in the address to the proxy.pac file, and it will connect to the correct proxy every time. It works for market, maps, gmail, the works.
That's also good if you're on a network where they keep changing the proxy (like the place I work).
