Thank you for your help.
Since I new in here, please correct me if i'm wrongfor the post.
it is a known problem of elf. I had the same problem with my elf and had to order an earpiece through ebay from china. after buying the earpiece replacement is easy. you can do it yourself using the disassemblement guide on this forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407323
good luck

How about your LOUDSPEAKER - does the other party to your call get lots of cutouts of your voice?
I've searched to find out if this is a common fault on the magician but not found anything.
It is definitely the same fault on both C500s I previously owned.
Come on HTC please fix this loudspeaker problem!
If other companies can do it flawlessly why can't you guys!!! :?:
(other than that problem very happy with this phone)
You must be referring to the mic. In any case I have no problems with the mic or speakers in my unit. Upgrading to the latest ROM has helped many users. There are a number of threads discussing this matter.
Yes sorry it must be the mic at fault when the loudspeaker process is selected. I did search for this to no avail so if oyu can link to it would be grateful.
In any event I have an up to date rom i believe?
Hi all.
My Imate Jam have the front speaker with some kind of problem... When using it as Mobile Phone I can speak but I cannot hear the other person because the volume is tooooooooo low. I think it's a hardware problem after some times it felt on the ground.
I understand that the front speak sends the phone sound and the back speaker sends the media (mp3, video, etc) sound... Is this correct?
Lets assume this is correct and my front speaker is broken. Can I send the phone sound (voice) to the back speaker and use it like a "hands-free" phone?
ThankS!
Just press the green phonebutton for 2 à 3 secs and voilà you use the back speaker.
But now for another question: where to find some replacement speaker?
It starts being irrtating that a the people in the room in wich i am calling can hear the whole conversation :x
Someones got a clue? I opened my phone already to clean the speakerconnections according a helpfile form this site, but nothing happened!
THANKS for the tip!! So simple!!! Very thanks.
I couldnt find a replacement... I live in Brazil and doesnt have support for Imate here.
Can you send me link to the post that explains how to open to try to clean mine??
Check this thread:

In the lower part one guy claims the speaker is the same as on certain Nokia devices. You should easily be able to find replacement speakers for those Nokia devices (or salvage a defective one from ebay where the speaker is functional).
Hope it helps.
Or buy a cheap BT earpiece. Got one yesterday for just €25 from Vivanco. Till Now it works fine & no big phone in your hands as well
Regards, M
I bought a HS850 BT from Motorola and works fine... But I like having choices... I will try to open it and check the speaker.
Thanks for all the tips!!!
I already tried a nokia 6600 speaker but that one is bigger than the phonespeaker .I think he ment that it fits as the rearspeaker, but Im not sure on that (didn`t pay attention on that, though my rearspeaker is fine).
I think I will go for a stereo bleutooth headset, because Orange thinks that it maybe will cost me over 100€
Whoah! Back up there!
SOrry about the interruption to this thread, but did I read that you can have the phone-call sound seperate to the mp3 output?
I need to have the phonecalls on bluetooth and tomtom instructions from the speaker AT THE SAME TIME.
Does anyone know if this is possible? I tried it on a XDAIIs earlier this year, but failed miserably.
The same problem occurred with a phone I just bought on EBay.
And I just found the solution elsewhere on this Forum.
Remove your SD card and the problem is solved. At least for me it is solved.
I don't know if it will work in your case or not.
Good luck.
Jeff
Just done it today after reading this thread, my I-Mate Jam internal earpiece (only used to hear callers in phone conversations) has been out of action since it went a bit flakey six months ago, been using headset and handsfree ever since! First I didn't want to send it to the UK service depot for fear I'd be without it for months, and then I couldn't find my proof of purchase!
I opened it up about a month ago to find the earpiece speaker had died, but I couldn't find a replacement anywhere. After reading this message though I thought I'd check the speaker in my old Nokia 6600, and lo-and-behold, it was identical!
My Jam is now working again as good as new, and the donor Nokia will hopefully be back on it's feet when the sub-£5 replacement comes from the ebay shop!
Thanks all who've contributed to this post!

Hi,
Today, I just tried to check the speaker quality for Qtek9100. It is not at all good. Infact the person on the other end could hardly understand what I was saying. I tried calling my cell from my home phone and it was true. There was a lot of static in the sound and I could bearly hear my wife talking. It sounded more like an incorrectly tuned FM station.
Have any of you guys faced this problem ? is there any settings that can be done ? Some sort of calibration or somehting like that.
Please let me know
Anup
I got a solution to this problem on this forum

From what I read here, its a known HTC wizard problem I guess. But the registry tweak will help you get over it.
Hi there,
i'm stuck now with a very strange problem.
I was playing with the A2DP patch when i discovered that my prophet is making noise in the built in speaker when i'm receiveing or making calls.
After 2 hard resets (the Clean Data and the Camera/Comm buttons + reset methods), it's still the same. I can't use the phone as a phone!
Also same with headphones. It sounds like the volume is way too high. Almost unintelligible.
Only in Bluetooth it works correctly.
Any ideas?
It is a O2 XDA flashed with French QTEK S200 ROM, so of course waranty is gone
Help help help
Hi there.
Nobody had the same issue with his Prophet?
After some investigation, i came up with the idea that it was because i was using Wireless Stereo with an A2DP device, but it suddenly came back, and even with Bluetooth disables/devices deleted/unregistered from the phone, it's still the same.
I don't know what to do. I'm forced to use my Bluetooth headset to use my phone :?
I didn't try yet Hard Resetting my device, but the other day, when i wrote the previous post, it didn't help.
So, You, who are reading this, please give me some advices
I'm lost.
i have the problem in the other one, in the normal use the sound is sooooooo extrem loud. in the bluetooth mode works it perfekt.
nighty
Well, it depends how you see (hear) the issue.
I call this noise, but in fact it seems that the sound is pushed to the max. I can hardly understand the words people say to me through the built in speaker.
Maybe we have the same issue, but i call it "noise" and you say "extremely loud".
Do i understand well that you're living with this?
Did you also played with A2DP patch? Or is the origin of your issue different?
Personnally, i'd like to find a solution.
yes i played with A2DP patch and i wont life with this probelm.... i send mails to www.qtek.ch, www.swisscom.ch, www.daanguard.ch, www.teleservice.com and a lot of other Qtek supporters.....
in this moment i use only bluetooth for all calls. but this ist not really a final solution.
nighty
Good,
i don't feel alone now
If one of them answers you, please let us know on this thread.
Maybe there are also other people with same or similar issue that are too shy to say it here
They'll like also to know how to fix.
I can't believe we're just 2 with this issue
Nightly,
did you have an answer for all the emails you've sent?
I'm planning to flash an O2 ROM back to the XDA Neo and sent it to repair, but if you've found the solution, i'd be happy to read it before i go to Germany.

OK Strange one here - hope someone can help!
I flashed older cookie on to HD2 for a friend and took phone to her in Malaysia - all seemed well but phone was freezing apparently so her brother went to HTC asia site and downloaded a ROM for it! GRRRR
Anyway it was a T-Mobile rom or something with a '51' radio. Since then when she makes a call she can not hear the other person through the earpiece (but can through the headset!) , but CAN hear a busy tone if the person is already on a call when she calls!
So I flashed latest Cookie Dinik style back on and replaced the Radio with 2.07.50.** and still the same!
I don't understand how the earpiece can make the busy sound but not hear the voice, yet headphone works?! I have connected remotely and used MyMobiler to see screen of HD2 and looked for anything that may be causing it but all seems fine.
If anyone has any ideas please help as she is about to go back to an iPhone after just moving to this HD2 on my say so!

hmm thats an odd issue and I would be suprised if anyone else has encountered it :S
are you positive its the ear piece speaker thats making the busy sound and not the loudspeaker on the back of the device?
also have you tried swapping between loudspeaker and normal handset mode? does the call work in loudspeaker mode but not normal speaker mode?

Good idea with the loudspeaker mode - will ask her to check that. Can't see how a rom flash could cause it - hope it's not faulty hardware!
I had a similar problem with my HD2: I wasn't able to hear my counterpart. I have tried several radio/ROM combinations with no luck. Looking at the test results I guessed it was a sporadic hardware issue of the earpiece. Sent the phone off to service, they confirmed the problem, replaced the earpiece and shipped it back, all free. Great service!
Of course, I had to restore to factory settings beforehand, including the original SPL, radio and ROM. If the phone is still under warranty I would suggest you try a hardware repair.
