huh
explain

I downloaded wallpaper from some website and now I would like to have this wallpaper in my phone. In panels I can change COLOR (yellow, red, Maroon, XPERIA etc.).
I want to change this color for wallpaper/some photo from camera. Is it possible? I didn't find any option which is responsible for it.

Of course, just navigate to Programs\panels\sonyericssonpanel\images and exchange the images there. Every color sheme has a number (e.g.09 for brown) and a portrait image (09v) and a landscape image (09h). When you save the new images over the existing, you can chose your images from the panel's options (e.g. color sheme "brown" is your image files).

Folder 'images' is empty...

Are you in the right folder on the phone's memory? Have you tried accessing this folder via Active Sync?
The folder can't be empty otherwise you would have no background in the SonyEricsson-Panel.

Yeah, I'm right. I try it via Active Sync but it's still empty. My phone is new. I own it from 2 days. Look at screen. Maybe "sep1p" "sep1pl" etc. are images which you are talking about?

Look from the phone level! Use TotalCommander.

I think not. The options menu in the panel only shows the preinstalled color themes. Don't have an idea how to connect new images to new themes -mabye there is a config file somewhere in the panel's folder.

You are in the wrong folder: These files are in the panel's root-folder. Just open the next folder "IMAGES".

Look, below 1st screen there is pasted next which shows EMPTY FOLDER "IMAGES".
EDIT: There are images but I opened it via File Manager. Should I exchange 2 images? Portrait and landscape?

Yeah, 2 images, h for your desired landscape pic and v for the portrait pic.
Just look at the pic's properties what resolution you need -should be 7xx x 480p (because you need to cut the taskbar from the 800pixels height)

Ok. Thank you for help.
Now there is nothing to do than trying

Skins for vito Winterface

Hello
Anybody knows how to make vito winterface skins?
It has this file "dafault.skin" (on default.zip) but i cannot edit it.
And if I change the icons from this file "icons.bmp" when I load winterface all the icons where wrong.
Anybody wants to help me?
thank you very much.
If you search a few months back in the forums, someone actually was able to skin a whole new icon set, but at the expense of knocking the contact pictures out of whack.
Just search "Winterface". Shouldn't be too hard to find.
Did you find anything?

Figured it. Will work on a skin in the next couple of days and post.
OK, skins for Winterface start here
Save as Windows Bitmap, 24bit colour depth, RGB colour profile and in the format R5,G6,B5 (available in Photoshop Advanced Options when you save as Bitmap).
Saving Alpha channel makes no difference that I can see.
You'll need to keep the original contact image as it matches the one in the "black.bmp" file and ensures the contact pictures show correctly once you've selected a single contact to dial.
Icons need to fit 42px x 42px squares on the grid
Hope that helps.
Thanks to bluemetalaxe for his excellent Realize icons:

Into the "bin" folder. Backup your others first in case you want to revert to the original
thanks dave! and thanks for the icons. Is there anyway to change the black background? maybe like a wallpaper?
Not that I can see
Will have a look and try to do something, doubtful though as it's solid black it's probably hard-wired into the app.
any other icon sets? or themes? or backgrounds yet?

I've looked to see where (if) the background files can be changed.
I'm currently working on changing the weather icons using the same principles as stated above. Looking pretty sweet so far.
EDIT: I'm also taking a crack at an icon theme. Here's a screenshot. Also, notice the icon for weather.
^ this is excellent, please keep up the good work on that one
this might just make me go back to Winterface
PS- has anyone managed to skin Fun Contact and SMS Chat yet? getting bored with the original look, they need polished up.

THX a lot for that!
But with the new version of winterface, 1.2, there are some bugs...
ex: task manager make winterface crashes... and the phone shortcut doesn't work...
Yeah. I'm having the same prob, BUT, only with certain icon sets. Very strange. Also, if you add a contact and then click on the contact, their picture doesn't not appear. Although, that may have been my own fault. Still, it was nice to have a glimmer of hope for this app.

1: I've now tried to install the Realize skin. I followed your intsructions in Photoshop, but the icons don't look crisp, as your attached images, and they have purple edges. Why?
2: How can I get wi-fi indicators (as on bluetoth - so I can see whether wi-fi is switched on or off - the same place but the icon changes)?
3: What about icons not determined by Winterface? For example; Applications I buy or other original icons. Can I replace the files in the Windows folder?
4: Off the topic, and in andvance sorry; Do any of you know any good applications for how to administer web connections? It seems like the default connection to the web is through my sim card (3G, EDGE etc), so what I'm doing now is actually "switching off" my phone, then enable wi-fi and then start surfing. There has to be a better solution to this...
I have HTC Touch HD T8282 and I'm far from a computer/mobile wiz...
Hi all,
Any new skins or buttons for the winterface?
Thanks / PG

Hi all,
I just love the facelift with the realizeicons, great work!
I have the same problem with the task manager (Running) though, as soon as I change to the realizeicons it makes Winterface to crash!
Any solution for this?
In my opinion Winterface is by far the greatest looking GUI for WM-phones today, and it would be really nice if it were a little more skinable.
Thanks / PG
Best of luck
well no upDATES??
hm..wintrface is good i agree
but bit too boring..................if only some wallpapers can be used along with themes like spb???
soo
all those genius ppl out there.

Background Transparency!

HELP! i've searched the internet and back and haven't found an answer... Is there only a certain image format which can be made transparent? if so what is it?... also i've tried setting an image as background though file explorer... the image is set, but you can hardly see the image, plus it tiles the image. I've also tried through the today plug in where you browse, but the same thing happens no option for transparency. This is my second Xperia, due to a fault in my last and i remember have a transparency option on a few select images on the device. please help i've been trying to fix this for ages!

How to change the SonyEricsson panel icons - Tutorial!

Here is my tutorial, how to change the Sonyericsson Panel icons:
1, On your Xperia copy the VUI files from Device:\program files\panels\sonyericsson panel\ to your storage card
2, Clear all the attributes - for example use Resco Explorer
( http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/ )
3, Copy to your computer, and decompress the VUI files - I used 7zip
( http://www.7-zip.org/ )
4, You will find the icon pictures in the decompressed folders
5, Use any picture editor software to make new icons (I used Photoshop) -the icon size must be 64x64 pixel, and save as png image
6, Open the VUI file -with 7zip, just open, do not decompress - only copy with drag and drop your edited pictures and overwrite the existing ones
7, Copy back to your Xperia to Device:\program files\panels\sonyericsson panel\
Before edit the original VUI file always backup them. You can change back to the original icons if replace the original VUIs.
I have made some icons, here are the changed VUIs in the VUIs.zip, and the photoshop files what I used for.
I have made a custom background also, use if you like it. It is just a background picture, you have to configure your Xperia panel, to match with the background.
Just wondering, how many vui files do you have in that folder. I only had a couple. In a cab I downloaded I saw there were seperate ones for the clock, rss etc.

What I attached are just the modified VUIs. But if you have enough time you can modify the another ones.
I wait the other designs also!
Thanks skoorce
Can you tell me where you got the black theme which I can see on screenshots? Can you share it please!
Thanks again!

The black theme:
Use any theme what you like, then install
UI Tweaker v0.5.4.4 ( http://freewareppc.com/utilities/uitweaker.shtml )
TdyScheme changer --> Windows Mobile 5.0 and above --> Use black Hue and Greyscale
Base Hue value: 161
You are welcome!
Very nice work!
Do you know if it's possible to make a separate icon for when an icon is selected/ pressed? (Have you noticed that pressing an icon on the SE panel does not highlight or otherwise change the icon, which makes it hard to tell if you have pressed it or not).
Thanks for your help.

Yes, this is possible. I used separate icons also. If you unpack the VUIs.zip, then unpack the mode.vui, you will see the icons how it seems if you pressed/activated or pressed/deactivated it. Of course you can edit them.

Hm... I have a Hungarian T-mobile phone and I haven't got any problem.
If you use Resco Explorer, check in options->general->browser options to clear all the pipes before the attributes.
It could be, that you aren't allowed now to see the hidden/ROM/system files.

[Little change] Colored Homeicons and green appointment notification

This is an EXCELLENT idea. I've been making themes for touch flo 3D 2 and i never even remotely thought of doing this. Such an excellent idea.
Thanks! ... maybe i will change some more icons in the future, but i don't want a happy-rainbow-colored device, but a little bit is good! ... better then all white
Hi,
Nice work!
But only one problem when you've installed a different look of the flip clock.
I for example installed cristal flip clock, and after copying the 2 manila files in windows my clock turns white. Not the default white but a strange color white.
Can you do something about that?
So that I can use your colors and still use a different flip clock layout?

I don't know if this is possible, because all those things are in the same image. (the images for the clock and the rest of the icons on homescreen are 1 file )

[Q] Wallpaper Scaling

Hi Guys
Not had my SGS long but I wondered if anyone knew what the res should be for wallpapers and also why does the gallery seem to screw up all my pictures when I set them as the wallpaper!?
Thanks for your help
Use ES explorer.
Ok so Ive found the image in downloads within estrongs file explorer but I cant seem to find an option in the app to set as wallpaper anywhere?
Cheers.

Thats how Ive been doing it so far but that method is producing the really poor quality image on my 2nd screenshot.
I have also noticed that Flikie wallpapers app has no problem scaling full screen wallpapers but the default gallery app only allows me to select a small portion of the area of the whole image and then blows up that selected area to fill the screen, which looks bloody awful
1. Wallpaper size for SGS is 960*800
2. On your first screenshot, try to put one finger on one orange line and another finger on the opposite orange line. It should let you change the size of the piece of your image which will be use as wallpaper
(sorry for my poor english...)

wallpapers must have 960*800 for good results/sharpness
then chosen the size with the orange rectangle to the max
