T3FD Music Player not reading files - Touch HD General

I copied a whole bunch of music to the storage card and updated the library in Windows Media player but the music player in TouchFlo still shows no music. I am assuming its trying to look at the internal device music folder and not looking at the storage card. How do I update the settings and make it index the music on the storage card. Does it not use the same library as the Windows Media Player?
Thx.

Try to put some musics file to the device not SD card and check if TF3D play can see them

Thx for the suggestion ...yes it does see them

Hmmm - I don't think that's it.
TF3D player does seem to behave poorly at times. I suggest either a soft reset or a TF3D shut down and then restart.
I have my music in the SD card in a folder called Music and then each album in a folder.
TF3D finds this OK. But, of course, behaves badly at times - last night I showed the HD to a iphone user and the album pictures just did not show up (damn TF3D) and the iphone user just laughed.
Who knows how/when TF3D does its scan of music ??
My other music players (pocket tunes and pocket player) both have scanning options.

This 15 steps works..
1. Disable TF3D
2. Soft-reset (only if the step 3-5 failed, but it's better)
3. Open this registry key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\
Delete everything in it
4. Open this registry key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\Music
Delete everything in it
5. Open \Application Data\HTC\
Delete "AudioManager_Eng" folder
6. Enable TF3D
7. Go to the music tab
8. The "Searching..." will not complete, don't worry
9. Go to another tab
10. Go back to music tab, and make sure there's no more "Searching..."
11. Disable TF3D again
12. Soft-reset
13.Open this registry key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\
Delete the "information" key
14. Enable TF3D
15. That works for me...

No Music visible in Touch Flo ? - hit soft reset

Touch flow 3d Music library
I loaded my MP3 files ontoo the HD using Vista's mediaplayer...
Then i added them to the HD's mediaplayers library...
Its says the touchflow music library will automatically find the MP3 files on my SD card... But it doesn't.....
Anyone else having this problem... (My music library in touch flow 3D is still empty....... and there apparently is no way to force it)
When I loaded my huge library into the HD, it wouldn't show them in the TF Media player either, untill right after I restarted the device to apply some Advanced Config tweaks.
I guess this is more of a indexing taking mighty long problem then it really not finding the media.
Soft resetting did the trick for me,
thank you
I've sync my media library to the phone but one album is not showing the cover art in the touch flow library but is in windows media libray.
Anyone else getting this or know how to fix it?
Thanks JanSchotsmans - I had the same problem until a soft reset (what a poor software).
I had all my albums in the storage card which were visible to WMP and Pocket Tunes and Touch Flo music said no music available.
Soft reset fixed it !

I have a similar problem. The cover art shows the same picture for all files in a specific folder, while in windows media library it shows for each number the correct cover art. I have not spent much time yet trying to solve this but if someone has already figured it out, that would save me and others some time
I thought I would share this tip as I spent an hour trying to get Touch Flo to find my music.
Do a soft reset and then all the music pops up !
I had Pocket Tunes and WMP both seeing all the music and album covers in the storage card but what ever I tried I could not get Touch Flo to see any thing. An explore elsewhere led me to try a soft reset.

I 'll double that. I have the same problem. The two mp3 files that come with the HD appear correctly but the rest of my mp3s all show the same cover art!! Any help appreciated.
Thanx

Maybe a Mod can join this to the MAIN thread to prevent clutter!
HTC support gives instructions
I visited htc support and they have this stupid (!) suggestion about this problem with the cover art: They suggest that you place each mp3 (same album mp3s excluded of course) in an individual folder and put a file named folder.jpg inside. It's true, that works, BTW I figured it out myself but I find that a bit annoying. I may switch to a different media player.

Music folder for TouchFlo 3D

Currently I have my music synced (by Windows Media Player 11) to /Storage Card/Music folder (and subfolders). Windows Mobile Media player can see it and play fine, but TouchFlo 3D plugin does not seem to look into this folder at all.
Is it possible to force /Storage Card/Music folder as default for HTC player as well?
I can install it anywhere and TF3D Player finds it:
I got music in:
SD Card/My Documents/My Music/(any album oder artistname)
Or as WMP11 did by sync:
SD Card/Music
Nevertheless, TF3D finds it.
May try a softreset?

Did that, multiple times.
Anyway, moving files to \Storage Card\My Documents\Music seems to work.
I probably need to "reset" just the HTC Library to make it work under \Storage Card\Music, but I am not sure how.

Can you please explain what you mean by that??
Just refresh librairy in windows media player and it should be done
Working for me...
This is explaining it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459596
Disable TouchFlo 3D and then you can delete the folder.
Then soft reset
Enable TouchFlo 3D again and then the library should refresh again
This is how it solved my issue .
Be patient too : if you have a lot of songs, it can take a while before the library loads up completely

The are two keys in the registry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config\device_scan_path_path
and
HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config\device_scan_path_path_0
You can define search locations for tf3D player there.
Still a Problem
I started the tread referred to in one response above but am still having problems. I tried all the recommended options with varying degrees of success. So far I have managed to get the music file recognised but showing the wrong album cove in the library and now allowing you to flick through them on the first screen. Soft reset allowed flicking but still wrong cover. Wipe SD card, hard reset and still the same. Am I doing something to do with the cover jpg file? And is there a way to convert the standard cover file to a folder jpg other than renaming as they are a lot smaller.
You just need to add an AlbumArt to your mp3s files' tags. You can do it with windows media or, for example, mp3tag.
same problem. i have added an album art to a mp3 file and stored it on the device, but still there is no album art.
(added album art with winamp 5.5 and refreshed with windows media player.)
is there a difference between saving an album art with media player and winamp?
EDIT:
I think there is a difference. the mp3 i added album art still dont have an album art in windows media player (on desktop). if i add the album art in windows media player the alum art is also available on my Touch HD...

Loading Music Files

Hi all,
This may be a dumb question but as a "newbe" to he HD can someone tell me the correct method and or directory structure required when copying music files to the storage card? I tried puting them in Music/"album name"/ but my HD did not find them. I followed the manual and used actisync and WM11 but it still did not work. Have done a hard reset as after trying these two methods the original two songs did not show either. Any help would be appreciated.
You need to add the Music Tracks to the Windows Media Library - once you've copied the files across onto the Memory Card (it really doesn't matter on the Directory Structure) go into Windows Media - it normally takes you straight to the Library - then from the Menu select "Update Library ..." and wait a while.
Many thanks
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the quick response, I new it had to be something simple.
Adding Music to TF3D music player.
Hi there,
I was struggeling with the same thing.
Remove; Application Data\HTC\HTC Album\AudioManager_Eng\'Audiomanager_Eng.vol' and softreset.
If you can't remove this file softreset first and try again.
After the file is removed and a softreset is done TF3D will add your music automatically to the library when you scroll to the today music player.
It is music/artist/album.
You might want to get a small piece of software on your PC to check the music ID tags. I had alot of problems to start with and found that deleting the album no and comments gave no problems.
You dont have to use active sync through WMP11. You can simply use the explore on active sync to find your music folder and then drag and drop.
To delete audiomanager.exe you will have to disable touchflo.
I'm having the same problem with the TouchFlow3D media player. However I don't seem to have the folder structure you mention. I have ...
"Application Data\HTC\HTC Album" but there's no "AudioManager_Eng" folder. My "AudioManager_Eng" folder is located at "Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng" and in there I DO NOT have "Audiomanager_Eng.vol".
Any other suggestions?
Thank you,
Mike
1. if you add a lot of music files it will take a long time for your HD to find them. a very long time!
2. to test, start with 1 or 2 albums in mp3 format
3. take care that each of the mp3 files to have the same album name on the Id Tag
4. on your card you can have any structure. i use something similar to my PC: music/artist/album
5. you can add a picture (artwork) within the respective folder for each album and it will be displayed on the tf3d player (the name should be folder.jpg for each picture)
if you respect these steps for sure it will work. you can also use s2p and the albums pictures will look very cool when you wil slide them
good luck!
Any update on this? Mine doesn't work..
Help!
I don't know what's wrong with my HTC Diamond. I got the Sprint version. It was working fine until a few days ago. Everytime a play a song on the TF3D player, it plays the songs, but then it stops the songs halfway thru, and then it wont continue playing unless I restart the whole song. I tried doing the Hard reset, soft reset, follow the steps above and it still does the same thing. On the WM player, they work fine, but not on the TF3D player. Pls help

TF3D Music player can't find music on storage card

I have a new TMO TP2, and am somewhat puzzled as to why the TF3D music player can't find the music that I've synced onto my storage card. Windows Media player sees the music just fine, but the TF3D one can't (it only sees the songs in the main storage).
The music is in a "Music" folder on the storage card, as it is in the main storage.
Any ideas?
Tried restarting TF3D or soft reset? After modifying some files by connecting the device to my PC as storage drive, the music player wouldn't recognize my files stored on storage card.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I had done both a restart of TF3D and a soft reset with no success.
Not sure how many songs you added to your storage card, but mine (~120 files) took several minutes before they showed up on the TP2. I believe I had gone to Library -> "All Songs tab" and then let it refresh/populate.

I did upload a significant number of songs (100+), but had my phone on for a long time (while I continue to tweak it!) and nothing has changed. I don't see any options under "Library" or anywhere else to refresh. Windows Media Player has such a feature (which I tried), but the TF3D player doesn't see anything.
I also tried to manually copy over a artist folder from the storage card onto the main storage (alongside the songs already there). Again, the TF3D doesn't recognize it.

There isn't a refresh button as such, but I recall bouncing between the different sub-tabs after clicking "Library" and it said something to the effect of "searching".
How about try moving everything from the phone's "MUSIC" folder to the storage card "MUSIC" folder (i.e. phone's "MUSIC" folder completely empty) and let it 're-search' on its own...
i have the same issues! i recently purchased an formated (FAT32) 8GB sd card, and synced my music from windows media player 11 through active sync. the music is on the card fine and i can play the music through windows media player, BUT not on the touch flo music player.
why is this happening?
i have a the files in a "MUSIC" file on the storage card same as the person who posted this issue.
When I first added my music to the Storage Card nothing showed up in TF3D either. I then deleted the music in the Music folder on my main storage and when I when to touch flo Audio tab it said searching. I opened up library and when I clicked all songs they started to appear. You might try that.
hi all, try my solution.. after moving mp3 to device / delete
then
You need to rename the follow file to "AudioManager_Eng.vol.vol"
Device/Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/AudioManager_Eng.vol
Soft Reset . . . . New AudioManager_Eng.vol will be created.
Had the same exact problem.
Although in the beginning, it did work. Would find all music on storage card and device, in numerous folders.
Then after deleting some of the music and maybe a file or 2 in one of the music folders, and doing lots of copy/pasting of music from pc to card and card to device, then changing folder names, etc, the TF3D music player could not find music anymore. Tried everything could think of, no luck. Can not figure out exactly what caused this.
Took out storage card, did a 'Clear Storage' from the settings/system tab and then all was fine again. Had to reinstall my programs, no problem. Now TF3D music player finds all music on card and device once again.

Music library problem

Hey!
Is it possible to define a folder where the music library should get all the music? I have files from G-Alarm and so on in it but can´t find a solution how to delete them outta the library..
Same problem here, every sound file type is shown there...
anyone an idea??
Annoying as hell... HTC needs to update this to allow us to point to a specific folder! I tried googling the issue but didnt come up with a solution...
Have you tried HIDDING the specific folder using an alternative explorer (like Resco explorer or Total Commander) ? In Total Commander, long press on the specific folder, choose "properties". There you can choose the attribute "system" and click on "recurse subdirs" so it applies to all files under that folder. This works to hide image files from the ALBUM, so there's a good change you'll fix this using the same method.
By the way, talking about Music library, do you experience some crashes of the music player after adding new files using mp3 cable? If so, this thread might interest you. I think there are problems with the way the player handles the ID3 tag of mp3.
Read this and relay the info, please.
I tried hiding some folders but then they get shown no where! For example: tried to hide g-alarm folder and the alarm tone also disappeared in the G-Alarm app... never expected crashes!
but the volume up & down buttons dont really work while i´m in the music app! when im on the home screen and mp3s are playing in the background, volume keys work perfectly no idea
I even went into the registry to HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config and changed the device scan path and fooled around with other stuff... nada... everytime after a soft reset, it still had ALL the system sounds and stuff in there.
Also, in that same registry folder, there is a ring_tone_path entry which probably explains why some of the ring tones don't show up....??
Can someone who knows a little more about this stuff enlighten us?
hello,
a workaround:
create playlist with one ore two files (songs).
after than close today-htc-sense.
open \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\playlists\name-of-your-playlist
and put all your wanted songs in it (i mean, you have to write/edit the file)
tip: use cmd (dos) for trickies like "dir c:\folder\with\my\songs\ > c:\playlist"
you will get on c:\ a file with name "playlist". this could be use for editing "manila-playlist". put this file after finished back to \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\playlists\ and starts your today-htc-sence.
i know, its a little bit grrrr and looks like work for end-of-life, but i say its a workaround and after three or four playlists you will be a profi.
Found a solution.
This will only work if you have your music on SD card. I also have tomtom maps there but no actual tomtom so for me it is only music on sd card.
1. Start from removing your card and then going to music tab so it rescans and states no music found. (Skip to step 3 if you are starting from clean rom)
2. Go to registry editor of your choice and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng (for german it will be AudioManager_Ger)\Information
Delete all items in that folder. You will not be able to delete Information it self.
If you are on clean rom you will not even have that folder it is created 1st time when music tab finds music.
3. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config
In there change:
"device_scan_path_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
"device_scan_path_path_0" from what ever there is to \Windows
"ring_tone_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
What this will do is exclude all files in windows folder. If you have any files in my documents they will show up. I assume if you just put "\" instead of "\Windows" it will exclude entire my device but did not test it.
4. Soft reset, insert your SD card and enjoy.
