Do you have programs installed on the storage card?
Also your memory might be running low, usually you need to reset your phone every couple of days due to memory leaks in WM6.1.
I did hard reset and then flashed newer ROM Onyx Jr. 4.2 and now everything is great...so far hehe.....

I have got a 02 HD2, I have been using it for a week now.
At the most I have had 300 texts on there
2 gmail accounts, no more than 100 emails
Exchange server syncing email contacts and notes, no more than 30 emails at any one time.
Imstalled programs:
Opera 10
newer version of google maps
The 2 HTC Hot Fix's
6 albums stored on the card
No more than 20 pictures and no videos
Everthing being going ok apart from few little bugs but I have generally really liked the phone until last night when i started to get insufficient memory warnings. I checked the memory and the phones storage was nearly empty (a few mb left) so i checked through and there wasnt anything stored on there that i could remove. I cleared the texts and emails but this made little difference.
Eventually I had no choice but to use the clear storage function which essentially reset the phone. So after all initial setup Im back to having about 50mb used a 150mb free.
This morning I have re installed most things, set the email accounts back up etc etc amd Im currently using about 78mb
So what exactly had taken the other 130mb up last night? is something not deleting cache files or something? how can I find out. If I cant work this out Im gonna have to return the phone while im still in the 14 day grace period. As I cant be bothered with having to go through all the re installs every week.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers
Jim
My first thoughts would be to move your music, email attachments and photos to the Micro SD. Then see how things go.
Hi,I wrote to HTC yesterday for that, all my files are in the storage card and memory program change every day without adding programs . They answered me to do an hard reset to solve the problem,or send my phone to repair if the problem will appear again . Good solution , like usually with them ...
Ah so this could well be a problem. What had you installed on yours? Nighthawk as i mentioned in the original post all the music was on the sd card and I checked all the user folders on the storage and they were all empty. there was nothing I could clear.
Will be gutted if i have to return the phone but glad Im still in the grace period.
All my software from my HD to my HD2. The difference is WM6.5 use more memory than wm6.1 . HTC should provide more memory on this model ...
I may have found the problem.
After reset and setting everything up again I had about 76mb of used storage. I have just been browsing some content rich sites over wifi and the used storage has gone upto 83mb. I have checked opera 9 and its cache limit is set to 4mb. Is something Leaking?
Jim
Marcdu81 Are you using a o2 HD2? im wondering if o2 have screwed up a setting.
NO it's an unbranded model bought in France .
ok so it should be widespread. isn't anyone else having this issue?
My storage disappears because of the cache for google maps (\Application Data\Google Maps\Cache) and htc albums (\Application Data\HTC\HTC Albums\Cache)...
I'd really like to move both directories to the memcard, but I don't how. can't find relevant registry setting...
EDIT: It's an unbranded HD2, WWE, bought in Belgium with the offical 1.48 ROM

There's already been another post concerning low storage here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=598974
The cache for things like HTC Album, Google maps, Youtube etc. are on the device taking up lots of space.
Cache for Opera can be moved to the Storage card but cache for HTC Album can not (at least, no one has found a solution for this yet).
You might try looking in \Application data\HTC\HTC Album\Cache and \Application data\GoogleMaps\Cache to see if it takes up lots of space.
My HTC Album cache is 30Mb !
Another post about the HTC Album cache is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600578
cleaning the HTC Album cache I recovered 20Mb
I dont get why people aren't making more of a fuss about this, in my mind it renders what is an ace phone pretty useless.
I have read the other threads and it doesn't seem like there is any work around other than manually finding and deleting all the cache files. as I have only had the hd2 for a week, am i expected to do this weekly?
Is there any point contacting HTC about this?
I have got 24 hours to decide if it goes back to o2 leaving me with the only option of an iphone.
check this out, htc's album cache now in storage card

After fixing a problem that I had with the newest cooked ROMs I bumped into another issue. Now every time I reset my Device my Manila works very slow for 3-4 min. I tried reflashing using MTTY with different ROMs but the problem persists. I looked in my Task Manager and discovered a process that overloads my CPU. Please find screen capture attached. I would appreciate any suggestions.

It seems to me you are refferring to the "System Idle" thread, that you will also find on Windows based PC. This is not actullay using your CPU. The problem is probably that you have a large SD card in your phone, and when you boot it is scanning for music, documents and pictures for the respective tabs. I remember when I had my kitchen stored on my SD card (500k files +) it would take forever to load manilla, now with a couple of GB of music/pictures it only takes a short time to get up and running. Hope that helps.
As a test, start your phone up without the SD card in and see if you notice a diference

100% correct! Thank you very much for that! I am using 16GB Micro SD and it's full of books, music and program backups. Is thate any way of preventing tha scan to interfere with the Manila..
As far as I know, No. Sorry, it has to do that to work Im still trying to find out how to get my music tab to load quicker :s
What about getting a quicker transfer Micro SD? I noticed that when I plug my phone into my car stereo via USB the playback is breaking.. Maybe my card is too slow..Anyways thanks for the reply! Owe u one!
Too true on the transfer speeds, am contemplating a 16GB class 6, but $90!

In that case the price is not an issue. The important thing is that it works Do u have any problems with yours?
currently only running an 8GB class 2 but seems to be okay, tidied it up the other day and have noticed a bit of an improvement

Hi anomandrus, did you remove the folder \Application Data from SD Card before or immediately after flashing new ROM? If that folder contains email attachments from a previous ROM then it will make Manila move at a snail pace, it also has the ability to create other strange anomalies like lockups and auto resets, just try to remove that folder and softreset then hopefully for you it should be ok again.

Nope.. Never thought of that! I,ve deleted it now and made softreset. Also compressed my icon collection in a *.zip folder. I notice there is an improvement. The Idle process takes shorter time to complete. My Micro SD card is class 2 (sloooow ) so I still have a bit of problems on start up but much better now. I think I'm gonna change it! Thank u very much guys! Your help is much appreciated!
everytime ihave opera 10 beta 3 running, and i scroll to the album tab in sense and try to open the album by clicking a picture it says "Unable to start this program because there is not enough free memory. please close some other programs and try again",
it only happens with opera 10 beta 3,
ie and opera 9.7 are fine
what could the issue be ?
im using duttys 0.8, 578mb ram, etc. and opera 10 beta v3 is install to the mem card,
its a fresh install of rom and hard reset done
any ideas?
ok ive figured this out,
basically i had cleared my htc album cache folder, and i hadnt loaded up the album prior to launching opera 10, i presume that htc album needs alot of memory for first time usage (since the cache is cleared)
well alls well that ends well
Hi,
I am having the exactly same problem. I too have Opera 10b3 installed and every time I have Opera open I can not open Album and sometimes I have problems starting camera with the same error about low memory. But if I close Opera then I can open albums again without problems...
Anyone else having the same issues?
I guess I just have to uninstall opera10b3...
Cheers
Jonas
my friend you have to make sure that you load the htc album first and leave it running in the background.. if you do this then opera 10 b3 will load fine.i think this is something todo with pagepool .
"Failed to set up the camera device." This has been happening on my TMO-US HD2 after a few hours of operation in the short time I've had it. Only a soft reset will fix it. Running the stock ROM with no real modifications so far. Anyone experiencing this problem?
Do a hard reset. This will wipe the phone back to the way it came from T-Mobile. You will loose anything you put on the phone.
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_hd2_leo_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html
Just found another thread suggesting that leaving Opera open in the background might cause this error. Closed Opera and, to my surprise, the camera worked again! So, my immediate problem is solved ... though why Opera should cause this error remains a mystery.
I had the same issue. Turn the phone off and turn it back on. No need to hard reset
Out of memory i think, ofter happen with heavy ram program, like opera, windows media player.. shame to have 448 mb of ram
it is because of Opera...I had the same problem a couple of time when the camera or camcorder could not start so I just searched the forum and found this thread. I just tried opening opera and leaving it in the background while i start the camera. Voala! It did not work. As soon as I closed Opera, the camera was back to normal.! They should add this thread to the tweaks or something so people know... Thank you guys! Tha helped me a lot!
Opera10 does something weird with virtual memory (or pagepool) where it allocates TOO much. Opera10 also blocks iGo8 and a number of other apps also.
is there any fix for this? its a bit wearysome to have to restart the fone everytime i want to take a foto when i have been using opera.... as simply shutting opera does not work for ne... surely htc should have fixwd this by now....
Its definately Opera 10. The memory allocation is too high for some reason.
well, im jst running stock opera 9.7 and i still get the problem...
Sounds like you are out of system memory. Try uninstalling some apps or move them over to the storage card. I had the same problem as Opera10's epic cache was eating up my system memory. Cleaning out the YouTube folder also gave me another 100MB.
Got this problem with palringo, when i tried to share a picture, then my camera had this issue. Restart the phone and it should be alright...
ive sorted it out now by moving some apps (installed thru market place!) to the storage card uskng sktools now all ok!
I am having the same issue now..
its is showing the main memory details like this
STORAGE PROGRAM
total:312 mb 173 mb
in use:31mb 85 mb
free:283 mb 89 mb
Any clue why is it happening ??
pls help me guys

By the sounds of it, it isn't HTC at fault, but Opera's developers.
Have you tried cleanRAM? That should blitz the RAM and stop you needing to reboot.
have been getting the same problem. need to reset everyday! I have closed Opera and always clean up. but, not working. anyone ?
somebody also said it has something to do with the extra camera formats turned on in bsb tweaks guys, i have turned them off and opened opera 10 and camera works
Installing fennec browser (firefox mobile) caused my camera to quit working - only fix for it is hard reset - tried it several times with the same result.
mine happens upon installation of swype
Finally I managed to take my phone to customer service center, they reinstalled the OS but the result was same. So thy confirmed it as a motherboard problem and thy took a couple of days to replace it with new motherboard. Luckly I was under warrenty, now my camera is workking fine
hi, my first post ever just got HTC Leo, flashed it and instlled arteus rom and sbp mobile shell. everything works like a dream, exept one program: wmtorrent.
whenever i launch wmtorrent my phone becomes unusable because everything is so slow. cant even open taskmanager sometimes.
is it because wmtorrent is installed on the SD-Card, or does everyone have this problem?
im not sure we can talk much about torrents on this site lol

Could be caused by several things. First of all - sbp shell - although nice, is a complete resource hog plus it will eat your battery quickly...so you might try getting rid of that.
Next I would take a look at all your configs in wmtorrent - make sure it's not making too many connections and such. And if you pulling down a lot of torrents at once that can cause an issue too. Anyway I'm using it on my t-mobile HD2 and no real issues here...
I had the same issue..
..and for me, it was simple: when you download something it gets stored on your device memory until it is complete, even though you are downloading it to your SD-card. Sadly, the HD2 have the worst internal memory in history so... good luck with that. You need free internal memory for your device to operate smoothly. I had 70MB internal memory left, and tried to download a file on 80MB, then I ended up with no free space on my device for it to work with.. but after some time lagging through it and deleting the download it was OK again.
The SD-card itself can be a problem, if it is huge, have a lot of files on it and it is a lower class SD-card. There are class 1-6 on them (it should say so on the card itself what class it is, 1 being slowest, 6 being fastest).
