Advanced tweak or diamond tweak might help if your device supports the software, or vice versa I should say.

Hi, basically I would like to recieve email based on a time schedule (10-15 minutes)while Im on a wifi network. To achieve that, I used some wifi tweaks...
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}]
@=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}]
@=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}]
@=dword:00000001
but they just set wifi not to turn off. So the battery drain is huge.
A perfect solution would be connecting to the wifi every 10 to 15 minutes for a few seconds, to check email, and then turn wifi off.
Any help is appreciated!
If you poll outlook mail try asynckiller.

I've created a Script (Mortscript) to power on WiFi with WiFi profiler [1] and check whether there is a WiFi accesspoint available, if not enable GRPS/UMTS/HSDPA to synchronize email.
After that the script closes the Connections and turns off WiFi and finally reschedules the next synchronisation time
The only problem is that Mortscripts do not run in unattended mode[2]. So I need to find a solution for this remaining issue.
Alternative: perhaps someone here is able to convert the Mortscript to a little program, and includes the calls to put the device in unattended mode and exit from unattended mode at the end [3]

I agree, this is one of the features I do miss the most in WM (Smart Power management of the WiFi radio)
have you tried to reduce battery drain during suspend? During this state (suspend) nothing will happen on any connection, so WiFi can be powered off.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}]
@=dword:00000004
Let hope someone will help us to get the script running during Unattended mode....
i'm bumping this in the hopes that someone found out a solution to this problem. Data plans are very expensive where I live now and i would like the phone to check for a wifi connection every 10 to 15 minutes even on standby (suspend) mode to check emails and disconnect after that.
Would really appreciate it if someone has any idea.
Hi, well, there is a solution, ct scheduler lite http://www.connectivetools.com/download.php?name=ctslite_ppc . install the attached WLAN switch, add the shortcut into the scheduler then after 10minutes again....it does not recognise if its turning wlan on or off...
After you turn wlan on, the device wakes up, so if you have mortscript you can add the attached scripts also to the scheduler.
good luck!
Hi - I cant seem to get this to work correctly.
I have 2 email accounts set up to connect to and get new emails from every hour.
I have advanced config set up to disconnect my data connection after 1 min. But still it is very random weather it works or not. Sometimes yes most times no (still connected 2 hours later).
I have tried running HD tweak with the same settings but no luck. I have tried HDtweak on its own and both together.
I have also tried changing the time to 2mins or 5 mins.
Does anyone else have this problem? It just does not seem very reliable at all.
Any help would be amazing.
Thanks
anyone any ideas?
Still looking for some help on this one if anyone would be kind enough??
Well, I'm not aware of additional apps that resolves this automatically but the fastest way manually to disconnect is to use the Long End Press Button to disconnect.
Just a thought for the meantime....
Thanks but that is not really practical every 30 mins or so when your phone receives new emails. I cannot believe this amazing phone has such a strange short fall. For people with data shortages on their tarrifs this must be a nightmare?
I suggest to disable data connections in sleep mode. This can be fond under phone->settings->data
If data tab is not available, you can enable it using a cab called "Dutty enable data tab" or something similar (search the forums).
This cab works only for certain ROMs. I am using XNOR and it works perfectly.
Please note that your activesync will continue synchronising as programmed. and automatically disconnecting after.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried searching for this .cab but cannot find it, does anyone have a link to it? I am also using XNOR so it should be a great fix. Thanks

Not to worry, I have found it. Thanks for all the help/suggestions.

I guess you already noticed the battery life improvement.... don't you?
I have this same problem with no fix yet. With the cab that disallows data in sleep mode, wouldn't your auto email check not work or am I not understanding what that cab does?
Thanks,
Ho'okani
Wow, with that cab the battery life really is longer!!! thnx!

Hi Everyone...I am having a HTC HD, on WM6.5. I have activated hotmail/live and gmail push email on my HD.
My data connection is on automatically everytime it needs to sync for new emails, but it will not switch off by itself after sync and even when it is idle again.
Anyone could point me any software to have this data connection switch off after idle for a period of time? I read in the HTC pro section that someone mentioned about issues with answering calls with the programs installed to disconnect data after sometime when phone is idle. Will this happen to HD as well?
My battery is running off quickly when data connection is on, would really appreciate if anyone could help me to solve this.
Millions thanks in advance!
HDTweak will do exactly what you want and not cause any side-effects or problems.

Hi there,
I am wonder if anyone can help, thanks in advance for any assistance.
Is there any setting or application that would be able to let HD2 automatically switch to use Wi-Fi connection instead of 3G when there is known Wi-Fi connection. I don't mind to set the Wi-Fi to be on all the time, but I don't want to have expensive phone bills for transferring data.
Is there such thing ?
Any comments would be great !
Thanks Poohpoohguy
PhoneAlarm can turn on your WiFi for you when you're in a specific cell tower area. For instance, WiFi would kick in as you arrive home, and turn itself off again as you leave home. PhoneAlarm also does lots of other good things too: http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html
thanks for the reply unclebeer.
other than phonealarm, do we have other options or settings can be done too ?

Hello everyone
I am seeing a strange behaviour of heroine rom, when the screen is turned off the phone loses the wifi connection. I have tried to set it to never switch off wifi but it seems ineffective. I was wondering if I could fiddle some other settings to sort the problem out.
If I reflash with the same rom, will I lose all the installed apps/phone numbers, google apps?
I am currently not in 3G nor gprs coverage so I can only use wifi.
thanks
Configuration
Hi,
I had that rom on my hero and works fine, i remeber that there is a configuration in setting of WIFI when you can change a wifi sleep policy, try it
hello
it is already set to keep wifi always on
I tried to install an app to keep wifi on, called wi-fi keep alive. Unfortunately it does not really work.
The phone disconnects after the screen goes off, in around 2-5 min maximum.
I tried all the workaround, including the ping option, but it is simply ineffective.
any suggestion? idea? config file to edit?
