I really like the touchflo interface but the wallpaper quality is not as the orignal wallpaper quality
how does it come?
is there any solution?
please help
I was also thinking the same thing really.
The only problem or reason why i think this, is because as we know TF3D uses alot of memory alone, so having a full scale high resolution image on top would increase the memory usage. im not sure maybe im wrong!
I dont think so because a vga image has round about 150kb and that is not so much and when i look the default wallpaper the quality is much better
humm then im unsure, theres a reason behind this though :/
I've been wondering about this too. Anyone know the reason or even better a fix?
TF3D image..
There is another thread on this issue if you search. It seems Windows changes the size and resolution of the image and there is not much that can be done about it unfortunately..
manila wallpaper file
i said before that the default wallpaper has a high quality
maybe it is possible to develop an app wich creates a manila file with the custom wallpaper inside just like the default one
it must be possible i think

MANILA 2D "How-Too-From-Scrach" tutorial request... and a bloody LIVERPOOL theme!
Greetings, lads.
This is probably, possibly, definitely the best forum for mobile apps/hack etc!
I own an OMNIA since one month (I DIDN'T checked out to see... OMNIA II is on the way - and it's a bloody awesome phone, the best!), I'm "playing" a lot, I'm "wearing" a "Sector Zeus" Rom (Sector is the very best "cooker" to me) and I've changed almost EVERY POSSIBLE UI there is in the planet, to find out what I like more!
Many UIs are simply... "disaster", some o' them are quite good, few are really great... but I think (these lucky HTC bastards!) Manila 2D with TouchFlo is the BEST, the SIMPLIEST, the MOST FINGER-FRIENDLY of all!
So... I'm using M2D along with "Zeus BlackLite"...
Now... I want to find a GOOD, step-by-step tutorial of HOW TO MAKE MY OWN themes for M2D!
I'm capable to make good looking graphics (check my web-site: http://www.lupus-creations.gr - press the ENGLISH version! The other is... "all Greek to u"!), but I don't have a single clue of how to make a M2D theme or to make it in .CAB VERSION!
Can you give me your "lights"?
Also, finally, I've search the web to find out a decent LIVERPOOL FC theme, to install it first in my OMNIA, till I make my OWN Liverpool FC theme.
Is there any?
Thxs in advance for any kind answer of yours.
Regards,
R.
Best way to start mate is to take another theme unpack it then start replacing the graphics files with your own some of the Manila themes come Packaged in .m2dct (manila.m2dct) change the m2dct to .zip (Manila.zip) some come in cab files you can download freeware ce cab file software google it
Like your graphics and look forward to seeing your themes
Nice example here:

Got it...
I'm on it... Thxs, m8. And for your kind words, too.
I posted a cab with an xml tat makes less files to edit. it should be in the mega manila thread. Unpak the ab with wince cab manager or better yet ervius package creator.
in te initflashfiles ou will notice tat onl half of the files get dumped in windows. (lower file count in windows folder = better performance) I also got rid of 28 files that repeat them selves through out the tabs. also I changed most of the bitmaps to PNG'S (MUCH Better) some files still have to be bitmaps like the ones in the photo tab.
so it is less work and I tink that it should be a great starting point for you.
I personally like to make "performance" themes for manila. that is to say hemes made for low end devices like the wizard which has limited space ram and processor. so I usually save most of my files in 8bit 16 colors.
the challenge for me is to make it look good and work fast... currently working on a "ducati" theme. should live up to it's name.
I was actuall thinking about writing a tutorial recently concerning making lighter skins. reaon I started to make my own is that on some occasions I would istall some one elses on my wizard (when i still had it) and would get terribly dissapointed at he performance drop.
I think that will be my next project.
EDIT: found the page fot you.

BLOODY MARVELOUS, dear "S.V.I"!!!
Thxs a lot!
Another Q.
I've start workin' in a M2D skin o' mine...
I can't understand - first - HOW can I enable the ANALOG clock instead of the digital and... HOW - second - a skinner is managing to PLACE the analog clock NOT in the middle but in the upper-left corner! I've seen some skins, with the analog NOT IN THE MIDDLE! I want the same thing for my background pic, 'cause I have my "theme" in the middle and right... and I've left "empty" (more-or-less) the upper-left, for the clock...
Can you please gimme your "lights"?
Thxs.
P.S.: Generally, .png are TOTALY suitable for interfaces, instead .bmp - .bmp are HUGE kb's images and therefore, the skin will be "hard" for less-powerful devices.
enabling the analogue clock i a rgistry setting in hlkm.software.htc.manila.home. set the reg to 0.
there is a value in the home xml tat movs the center position of the clock. the number digits have to be moved also. the values for that are top left corner of the image file. it helps to draw a huge cursor layer to help you figure out the poitioning.
sorry for the spelling. my keyboard is misbehaving. mut be dirt under the keys.
as soon a I have some free time (hopefully this weekend) I will write this tutorial thing.
I have finally got the latest manila "fixed" with analogue clock as well as digital
did ou know that the botom bar (slider) can be only 1pxl wide?
Well, m8... you gotta write down this bloody tutorial for M2D!
I can't wait!
I hope you write it in this weekend... I'll be around, every day!
Cheers and thxs!
Is it possible to have animated wallpaper on the TF3D home screen? If so, where's the best source of these? Thanks.
Guess it can't be done then...
It cannot be done as even with apng once it is converted to manila file it will lose its animations... not only that the device would not support it anyway. And .gif is not possible atm to convert to manila.

Ok. Many thanks for the reply. It's a pity - you could on my crappy W910i!
Animated backgrounds
I was curious about this as well.. I have actually seen a video of them in action. And my TP2 even has a option to turn them on. But... no one ever includes them in a ROM release's? Please someone set me straight. I know they are out there and work! No one ever talks about them though. Whats the low down?
Matt
in the LEO roms by NRGZ28 are some animated wallpapers to choose from, at least in the release of 23/09.
Manila 2.5 from HTC Leo supports animated Wallpaper, I tried it out on Friday! It#s really cool to look on it but it seems to use more battery! :-/
Hello guys, i have a question.
Have alot softwares that have a full Screen Caller ID Pictures and etc but you know that every software use your phone memory and RAM so i think the Manila Sense Enought use your RAM and also from long time im asking myself Why in the screen caller of the Manila Dialer when you calling someone or someone calling you there have alot free space but the picture that appear is really SMALL, i don`t know so the question is
CAN WE USE this Free Space? Im taling about WVGA Devices we have alot blank free space
I don`t speak about FULL Screen Picture but its posible to be 2 times bigger than now and will be awsome.. because you don`t have need to install any 3rd part software to have this option!!!
I think that is posible with some Scrypt or some reg edit the whole layot to be the same just for example if now the pic is 240x320 to become on the same position 480x640 this is just an example.
In this case we can have in the manila dialer a Bigger caller ID picture and the change will not eat alot more CPU usage.
I Don`t know why so big place is just blank white instead to be with some Image...
Im not a programer and this is just idea so peoples who understand how to modify Manila files and Scrypt Maybe its posible?!
Regards
This would be nice in my opinion.

Yes the Blackstone and Leo have big screens and i don`t know why the contact image is so small when have alot of free spice to be alot more bigger, someone maybe can make a Manila Mod the caller id to use bigger Image?!
hey there
first i am sorry if this posting is against the forum rules, i do hope that it is not however.
here is my idea:
The Toch HD seems to be running much faster without any wallpaper. E.g. when the background of Manila is just black an there is no wallpaper at all, it scrolls more fluently.
so, is there any way to completely disable all the wallpapers in manila 2.5? in my case, i got the energy rom which sets wallpapers for all tabs by default, can i disable this?
i think we would get a nice performance boost.
regards, burobernd
p.s: no just taking a black picture file wont do the trick ..
x2
is there a cab to disable the wallpaper in home screen of Sense 2.5?
Bguards
Hello, do you mean when you use the standard wallpaper of manila?
I've one Idea. You could use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503511
With this programm you integrate a custom Wallpaper in Manila like its the standard wallpaper. So the wallpaper is a Manila file and not a jpg oder so...
Hope it helps

not using standard wallpaper nor installing cab created with HDWall, just remove all wallpapers in registry HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila, it would be obviously faster within manila 2.5.
Yes right but i have something to say... where are we going ? We need more and more Speed and often we want thinks from our Blackstone that he just CANT handle LOL my point is okay we can do many things for faster Manila so now we will remove all wallpapers and the phone will be with blank black screen ok.. so also we can CFC edit the manila images to make them alot more light but of course this will cause they to be not the best quality and the manila will be even faster.. then if we want we even can remove totaly some of the tabs and the Manila wil be more faster.. and alot other tweaks like this.. But my question is What we doing exactly? To be honest i prefer my device to be more slow but to look good and i to feel good when im playing with it.. so you spend alot of money for this device and on the final you even can`t have a wallpapr? LOL if someone need so Much Speed can buy Leo or Nexus One witch i think is the better choice right now..
We can make many many tweaks to have faster Interface but we will lose the quality and the beauty of that Interface
tsalta, this is a very interesting thought you have.
however, i see it differently: with all those shortcuts and weather icon and stuff on the homescreen, i think there are already enough (maybe even too much) items on it.
so, effectively, when setting a colorful wallpapers, the screen gets all messy which i dont like at all: no wallpaper at all allows me to have the clean and professional look i want to have, and yield a little bit of speed.
it is true that we should not pretend to have a leo with a 1ghz processor in it, so manila 2.5 might be a questionable choice. but, as it happens, the majority does want it on their phones, and then so be it. if they prefer a wallpaperless manila 2.5 to a wallpapered manila 2.1, that's legit!
and one last thing: i for my part didn't chose manila 2.5 because of the fancy homescreen but because of the many tiny fixes and enhancements in all the other tabs.
but as i said, you are right if you say that some roms are just loaded with fancy stuff that might run well on a leo, but not on our blackstone.
cheers
Yes yes it's just personal preference for speed or for eye candy. That's why many people are still using winmo 6.1 and many people are using energy's ROM. Thanks for the chefs here we get plenty of choices to balance our need
Actually it's kinda out of topic in the ROM development forum
MOD EDIT - Feel this thread is more suited in General discussion forum
