Yeah, use the SonyEricsson Panel. All the questioned items can be displayed there on one screen.
thanks for teh reply, but when i try to add a speed dial, it just closes the options menu... i tried hard reseting, no go

Hmm, it's working fine for me. I don't use the quick dial icons but I just tried it and I have no problem. Just added the quick dial I wanted to the program shortcut-list and pressed OK.
When do the options menu close -when you choose a person for quick dial or sometimes else?
I would just use the spb panel and edit one of the menu icons there to be your 'most used' programs

I just want to make sure that you realise that it takes a few moments for the Sony Ericsson screen to update after you make a change. If you've hard reset before the panel has updated, you will have over ridden the changes you tried to make.
I've added a couple of programmes and three speed dials to the Sony Ericsson panel to test it out, and it works fine.
This is the panel with the smaller calendar and clock, not the panel with the larger calendar and clock.
I cannot seem to get more than five shortcuts to show on the screen, however. Not sure what's up w/that because there is clearly room for 10.
^^^ Two SE panels are just identical, they show a big clock only when there's not much on the screen.

Just be sure you have FREE blocks when adding new items!

You have to set up the rows you want the shortcuts to use too.
If you set 2 rows, there are 10 shortcuts.
PS. As mentioned before, the two SE panels are the same.
I use these to get all the things you want:
- Pocket Digital Clock
- (SPB Weather)
- SPB Phone Suite
- Pocket Breeze (really good)
| - SPB Pocket Plus : as a slide away tab in Pocket Breeze
| | - Some other today plugins as tabs in Pocket Plus.
| | - Favorite programs as tabs in Pocket Plus.
Try them out (Pocket Plus and PocketBreeze), they all have trials.
Oh, and I can NOT recommend SPB Diary, it is much slower than PocketBreeze.
soudns you like a mix of several things, so you could make your own in WAD or search through dev&hacking for some of the many options there are.
There's some absolute corkers around..

sounds exactly like the probem im having. You just press the + in set speed dial thing and it just closes up and shows the error report thing.
Im not sure what the problem is, and i never use the speed dial anyway so it doesnt really concerns me..
But i do curious for an answer though

When I first acquired my X1 I faced a similar dilemma. I tried various panels eg SBP and TF3D and got them set up to do what I wanted, but none had all the features I required. My main requirements were...
Had to be finger friendly
Speed Dials readily accessible
Favourite programs readily accessible
Toggle bluetooth on and off quickly
Show upcoming appointments
While browsing through these threads, I stumbled across mention of the iFonz interface. Its a copy of the iPhone. Check it out. I think you'll like it.

I recently switched from XDAII to a TYTN.
Until now, no problems exept the calendar.
If I have like three appointments the next day, the device only shows me a maximum of two on the start screen, where on my XDAII the list was unlimited . Pretty annoying cause I'm used to see all of them when I switch my XDAII on and have an immediate overview.
Is it possible to change a setting so the calendar goes directly to the month lay out? Now I always have to toggle up via day, week, month or go via menu, view...
Also, if there are two appointments on the start screen and I tap on them, the device will always go to the "oldest" appointment.
Any settings I could change?
Thanks
No reply because it's so obviously simple or nobody knows..?
Anyone?
Come on guys, give me a tip here.
I did the normal stuff like going to start>settings>today>Items>calendar but then the "options" button is not available so I can't activate the "show all apointments".
What is a recently good and stable program to add programs/shortcuts on the today screen?
I looked into Claunch but that site is so old...
Pocket Breeze

I gave up on the OS Calendar today screen - no matter what options I selected, it would only display 1 day at a time... so I use PocketBreeze now... it very configurable, looks good, works well and seems compatible to WM6!

Not sure about the calendar issues.
Claunch may be old but it's a good one.
I use Wisbar Advance used in conjunction with Wisbar Advance Desktop. Can also be used for those cool customisations as well. Also permits multiple desktops so you can spread out your icons and plugins over several pages to save clutter. each desktop can be customised differently.

I've always been a user of SPB Pocket Plus, but it's a but clums to change the icons for the meters, and colour of the text on the meters often clashed with the background.
Are there any alternatives that can display meters for battery and storage, as well as custom shortcuts, or shortcuts to things in the programs menu?
I've had a go with SBSH's iLauncher, and I didn't like it. Any others?
Thanks

I use O2 plus 2.3 it will work on any Hermes WM5 or WM6, it has a small memory footprint and even though the picture of my screen does not show it you can have all that you asked displayed. Cab file below.
^^ I second, it is a good and elegant app. However if you want to go for an even MORE minimalistic approach then I would suggest PBar. It is a great app as well. Tiny footprint and it can do everything you are asking for. Albeit the memory would be in number form rather than using up precious screen real estate as a bar.
Latest version is 1.3 however most people are using 1.2 still. Do a search and you will find it. I see no reason why to repost as it has been repost a number of times already.

I can't remember which app shows a tiny battery line' meter above the title bar. I liked it and would like to have it again.
Maybe SPB which I have not re-installed after last upgrade?

The default thickness is too high, and it's easy to change it from the settings (I put mine at 3, instead of 6)

All your Contacts? Or just some of them (e.g., Quickdial)?
If you just want key contacts for quick access, there is a cool product called Face Contact by CNetx that might work. If you want ALL contacts, I have not seen one....
Yeah, I have been thinking about this too, would be great if iContact could be made into a Today Plugin. I will pose this question in the icontact thread.

Try SPB Phone Sweet. I know you have to pay for it but there are plenty of places were you will be able to find it below one penny if you get my drift, I just cannot post them on the site. SPB Phone Sweet will allow you to post picture contacts, up to 15 I believe on the Today Screen. Really good function program which I used in conjuction with SPB Pocket Plus but have since then moved to SPB Phone Suite. Good luck.
first... thx for the answer´s and sry about my English
So i really looked for a today plugin who show ALL CONTACTS, like icontact i have now Facecontacts, thats great but i can only show a few contacts or all with many work... spb.... hm i have ultimate launch if i use spb too my kaiser will be slow i think.... so lets search another one
I wrote it in BURT thread...
I got UL too and in combination with spb phone suite there is no problem. My HTC touch is slower
ok but i think this have to look so:
Even I am looking for such thing from quite a while now.. but without luck.. I am trying to search or develop something which can integrate programs like Icontact/PCM image viewer to today screen.. Something like we can see in HTC Diamond but with less memory usage.. There are prgs like Throttle Launcher which does this, but heavy on memory.. consumes like more than 10 MB.. Anyone has any idea on how can we achieve this..
try this
you can use face contacts, its the best looking contact plugin available. and it scrolls like s2p cover flow (but smoother)
if u read u will see.... i use this.... but its not so good i think
As I've mentioned in Icontact thread
use one of your softkeys to invoke Icontact, or use Mortbuttons - you can assign one in today screen with Icontact and other phone app inside
Again Pisca, how does this establish a today plugin
1. not only icontact, any software what can do this, but in the today screen.
2. if u can look on my today screen? NO SoFTKEyS
I have set Spb Diary to show photo contacts on the Today Screen and it works out great...

You can also use DialTab.
Everything listed here are the best options. Trying to fit all of iContact as a plugin on your today screen eliminates the app itself. Doesn't make much sense to me.
Perhaps "Ineosoft Adressbook". You have a bar on the todayscreen, like the HTC Random Access and then the adress is popup. Have a look on it.
Or we can make a shortcut to HTC Random Access for the today screen.
i am currently playing around with my own made C# picture dialer that is displayed as a today item (very early beta i might add ). it enables a user to see pre defined photo contacts (which is of course nothing new).
as with most photo dialers, a long (2 second) press on the photo dials the number that belongs to the contact. (it also has an option to assign two numbers to one photo contact, which i find very usefull, eg the first number is dialed when you press the photo for two seconds, the second number is dialed when you press the photo for four seconds.)

Hi guys, I have searched and searched but cant find.. Is there a prog that can fix so I can have lets say five contacts on my today screen? So I just tap them and either get some options, sms or call up. Or it just calls them up.
Hope u understand what I'm out after =)
Of course I mean the today screen with the TF3D disabled =)
Thx
If you are looking for an appliacation without TF3D, for a normal today application then try SPB Shell.

You can also add Contact's pictures as a quick shortcut on the main screen of SPB Pocket Plus.

I have used nearly all of SPB applications, and they are absolutely professional.

You can definately use it with "2nd Today", I am using SPB Traveller with 4 different clocks & VOIP on the normal Today Screen.

I run SPB Mobile shell, it's not active as a plug-in, I can still use the slide move from "Start" tho ( 15 extra fav contacts and stuff ), and by using Fantastic Bytes Softkey Manager 1.1 my right softkey is set to SPB contacts, works like a charm

To be honest, I tried the touch flo 3d, the home 2, but the only thing I like is the normal, clean windows mobile today screen i like it, its neat , organized, and the xperia wallpaper gives it an elegant look. I alos modified the left menu key to initiate a new sms
what do u think?
I like it's neat clean look, but I prefer using the SE Today Panel.

Same here, a big fan of Winmo Today screen. When I jumped ship from Palm OS to Winmo, the Today screen really makes me forget I ever had a Palm OS device... Although the fond memories of rock hard stability creeps out now and then.
Currently Using itje's incredible Touch-IT v4.5 ROM. The Touchflo is nice, but more of a gimmick then anything else... Give me plain old Today screen anytime.
It just seems easier on the Today screen, that's why I have a lite rom installed, along with TF3d and panels.
I tend to always end up back at the default today screen. Something just nice about it.
Yeah I use it all the time now as it seems to be the most customisable without being fiddley and does all I want it too... I would like a today that is a combination of several of the panels but so far have found nothing that I like more than the normal today...
i use the today screen as my default screen when at work as i like to be in control of how many appointments are displayed, reminders, etc. it's nice to be able to switch to another panel for the weekends though ...
i'm a bit concerned about some of the screenshots for wm 6.5. does the today screen still exist ?
The standard Today just works. Give you access to what a PDA is for, PIM. There is a plugin called TodayAgenda which makes it perfect though.
glad you guys think the same way
btw, any idea how to make a shortcut for the start button? I downloaded a program, H button, that enables me to long press a key and a program comes up... but i want to access the start menu that way

Are you trying to assign a hardware key to Start Menu? If so, go to Start>Settings>Buttons
All this talk is making me want to use the Today panel more! I just tweaked it a little bit and I'm going to give it a try next week.
Does anybody know of a way to get more programs on it? Skype is on the list, and I think TomTom is, but I'd like a couple others.
I need to use the today screen to see the G-Alarm plugin, how much Internet traffic I had this month (SPB Wireless). Also I find it very convenient to use Elecont Dialer (a scrollable row of contacts to call or sms) and Elecont Launcher (a scrollable row of apps).
So I usually end up using it, even if SPB Shell is more touch-friendly. It just doesn't display all the information I need in one screen.
I always seem to go back to the spb panel as my default. its simple and looks clean i think compared with tf3d and point ui. im hopeing that when the new 3.0 shell comes out that it wont replace the spb x1 panel (although i know it will).
I've tried all the panels, shells etc. You name them, I've tried them. As said before, the Touch-IT v4.5 ROM is nice, but gimmicky. I admit I've installed it, but only to get GPS tagging of photos. I untick it in Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items immediately after it's installed.
I appreciate all the work that's gone into developing it, but its way too busy for me
My preferred interface is iFonz 2. The interface can be as simple or as 'busy' as you like. I prefer to have just a few icons of the programs I use regularly on screen as well as icons for the frequently called contacts. Also its very finger friendly.
For the programs that I use infrequently, it's no hassle to find them in Start -> Programs, and contacts are easy to find in iContacts

Hey friends, I'm with you. I think the today screen is one of the best inventions of Microsoft and is really underrated. It just makes sense to have active plugins share the most precious place on a mobile - the information screen after switching the device on. I think the iPhone is ridiculous in this regardö - just showing icons of the programs that can be launched is lame. Also, there are really powerful plugins available for Windows Mobile. I'm personally using the built in date/time and messages plugin together with PocketBreeze for all the organizer stuff and PocketPlus for system status (battery, memory), finger friendly app launcher and additional plugins as tab (spb weather actuall). Then I use the system tray as quicklaunch and for showing the currently selected phone profile from PhoneWeaver and my softkeys start Contacts and WM5NewMenu, with which I can very quickly place a new appointment, SMS, Email, Note and so on. With this setup, I can really use the device, not only play. Everything is just one or two clicks/actions away and I always have a good overview of what's going on.
I really don't understand why so many people want a better iPhone instead of a good Windows Mobile device. Windows Mobile has drawbacks but also strong points, of which the today screen is one of the strongest I think.
I am also a big fan of the Windows today page. I think it's the only one that can be entirely adapted to everyone's need, all other software are nice graphically, but not as effective as a well prepared today page.
