Blue light mode? - G1 General

Turn off your phone.
Hold the trackball and end key down.
Let go and bam ur in blue light mode.
Blue light mode is good because it makes your phone completely unusable since it cant be turned on. Only way to get out is take out the battery (i believe)
So if u dont want anyone on your phone, that could be helpful.
I'm just wondering what its real purpose is tho.
Maybe everything is off except bluetooth in this mode?
I'll give it a shot sometime tomorrow

huh?
thats very odd, I wonder what it is, Id say there is a better chance that its a feature of some sort not just a bug in the code...
Im sure the DREAM-weavers here will get it figured out soon enough...
hey J.F. maybe DREAMWEAVER would be a good nick
bhang

ooh i love it, i totaly have a thing for blue led's

theres an excellent app on the market called Missed Call.
it lets you change the the LED at the top to whatever colour you want when you get a call, a missed call, a text and when your bluetooth is on. also you can change how quickly it flashes. i currently have my text LED set to blue and set to flash quite fast. looks great
oh, theres also ****ing 9 different colours that LED can do!!!

Haha yes, but as cool as that is. The fact that the led is blue isn't what's so intriguing.
I'll post anything i find

LED

Could someone please advise whether the HD has different LEDs for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth? I can only see the red LED for charging at the top.
I would like to see blue LEd when Bleutooth is on and Green when WiFi is On, just like on previous HTC models
Thank you,
Unfortunately, there are no other LEDs for BT and Wlan. If you turn that on, it is not signaled by an Led.
Thank you!

Many thanks for the confirmation....!
There is also no flashing green LED showing that the Phone is on as there was in the other HTC devices. I miss it because I could find my phone in a dark room.
maybe someone can create settings for it? a little program? especially for the status of the phone being on... would be nice!

I think it might be possible. I remember reading something a long time ago that someone disabled the flashing green light on another HTC device so maybe it can be switched on too.
You're right

LOL...I listen to music using A2DP and the LE light was crucial for me. I used phoneAlarm to try to activate each individual lED to ascertain, to no avail!
I see no point in removing all sort of LEDs; even using the virtual button; I would like to see the green and red lights for the telephone-related buttons when pressed to start and terminate a call. Haptic feedback is not always the best solution.
I guess the battery was so underpowered for the device that HTC opted to remove all lights/LED.
anyone that sees this.. can i make a request and ask if a program can be made or some sort of settings added to the phone to have the led flash to let you know the phone is on? or any other clever things you can come up with. !
thankss

Low Battery Light

Well, when battery going to die on the G1, the light flashes red. Which all it does is take up the little battery you have left. Any way to turn it off or an app that maybe can?

That LED takes up very little battery power if any. Trust me, if you're that low on battery power, then you have more issues to worry about than an led being on. That thing probably draws like 1/10 of a watt.
Aside from whatever power it draws, I'd like to be able to turn off the low power light because it overrides other notification lights. It doesn't let me know anything aside from the fact that the power is low.. It'd be nice if they could rotate or something.

Now that makes more sense as I have had the issue as well when I charge my phone while sleeping.
I asked the dev of Missed Call awhile ago if you could change the color of the charging and low battery. He said he couldn't because there is no change in something, I think no change in the HEX code or whatever.
Maybe he could try again, I would ask him since he was able to change the colors for everything else.

they are on by default over here..i haven't used android long enough to change the setting if it even has one so mine has to be default. I have my brightness set to auto but im pretty sure that was default also.

me neither :/
Mine also automatically lights up when I hit the power button. I have not done the OTA.
That's SO weird. After reading the title of this thread, a few seconds later, my lights stopped coming on, too.
Turned it off, pulled the battery, and now it works fine.
ya mine just randomly started working with no reboot ahah..how weird..now to get my ota >/ still havent got it yet
I just came in here to find this thread (how do you search in the XDA app??) because I am using my phone in the dark for the first time (hotel, trying not to wake my girlfriend) and my buttons weren't lighting up.
I did a quick Google search and found they won't light up if you turn the screen on when the phone is plugged in, and this is apparently by design.
For some reason mine never work in the morning in the dark (when I actually need them to), but they always work during the day. I figure there is just some bug with the light detector.
For those having issues with the lights not turning on, are you plugged into a USB cable? Mine do not turn in when a USB cable is plugged in, but they do otherwise.
Mine never turn on at all. They haven't since I got the phone. At first I thought it was by design then I realized how stupid that would be and looked it up. Sure enough here is the thread with people having the same problem...I'm on hold with HTC as we speak...
Capacitive Touch Buttons won't Illuminate
I found this thread in a Google Search and wanted to bump it:
I just picked up my white EVO today. I just noticed my capacitive touch buttons don't light up, though they do function. This makes the phone impossible to use in the dark. I was going to ask if this was a setting I was missing, but after reading this thread it seems like a small bug. Have anyone found out what the status is on a fix? thanks!
Ok guys I discovered that the button lights have a light sensor, this sensor is located under the earpiece speaker on the left side looking at the phone. If you have it plugged in you can cover the sensor up with your thumb and the lights will turn on. The lights also will not come if you are outside or in a well lit room. I hope this helps, and still dont know what to tell the OP as his happened in the dark.

Dirty Hack Trackball Backlight

Is there any way to incorporate this fix into the Eris ROMs. I tried flashing but got "No Signature" and "Verification Failed" error messages.
hxxp://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705940&page=4
whats the actual link?
and it sounds like it just needs to be signed. i can do that and send it back to you in under 5 minutes
i gave it a shot, it doesnt look to be working right now. he said hes going to be releasing the source and what modifications he made. once that happens we can try again.
Any progress been made with this?
i checked it a while back but it wasnt working. sorry.
what is this supposed to do? change the color of the light behind the trackball?
you guys do know that led is only a white led, not a multicolored one right? we've had a thread about this before. without some soldering, that light is and forever will be white. it's a hardware thing.
carry on, I'm an idiot. get this working! i want my trackball to actually light up again!

no. it was for mapping the notifications to the trackball.

[Discussion] Notification Led very bad, solutions?

Hello. Since I dont see any complains or posts about notification led, I create this post so we can share our opinions
I mean, our led is weak, not multicolor, it stops blinking after a few minutes, and when it is charging it is useless because does not blink at all (stays red).
The multicolor and weak issue it´s hardware..So I dont think there is any solution (multicolor is very useful, for example to tell apart whatsapp mesage or group, so maybe is more or less urgent..)
But, do you know any solution for "blinking time" issue and the charging issue. I read that Viper Rom has some Mod or something, but I prefer staying in stock for the time being (however, I do have root)
On the other hand, i have tried light flow app, but I do not get the led blinking, it keeps static
Thank you for your help!
Custom kernels have blink button led lights so the home and back buttons blink , this is excellent.

I think some GPE roms let you choose to have blinking led for notifications even when charging and yes, ViperOne lets you specify how long the led should blink for (its set to 60 minutes by default! lol) and you can also turn on led blinking when charging
Use Light Flow LED app from the play store. It provides an option to set different colors for different notifications.

Okey, so that could be a good solution. However I am gonna stay on stock rom until 4.4 goes out, then I surely will try some roms with this tweak

Yeah mate I tried it, it seems to work, even it gets a weird yellow led, but the led stays static, I couldn't get it blinking
Came from a long line of blackberry's so the LED is probably one of the only things I really miss. You said you're rooted, have a look around in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml or whatever your CID's xml file is:

5
- change the 5 to 0 and you should get no led timeout.
I also did the following (personal preference, I charge at night using a dock so i like to be able to glance over and see if theres anything waiting when on silent):

false
- change from false to true and the led will blink for a notification even if it's charging.
Terrible LED is for me the only thing wrong with the One. Real shame. A partial solution for me is to install Dynamic Notifications (free/paid app) which give a Moto X type visual when notifications are received. I set it so the screen goes white instead of black and flashes every minute or so after a notification arrives. Still not ideal but saves relying on the crappy LED!

Really? That's so awesome. I will wait to arrive home to try that, just in case something goes wrong... But thank you so much, if it works.. That's all I was looking for
So then the only bad thing would be that it still weak and not multicolour. To be honest, is the only bad thing I can found in this amazing phone
You are wrong i think...

Dear friend the all think with the notification led is so wired for me.I bought my one with vodafone branded new with 4.1. something firmware i think. The notification led in that firmware was bright enough no problem at all. With the 4.3 firmware witch i had now the intensity of the notification led has reduced significantly, plus i noticed that if your phone switch of during to battery empty and then you plug it for charging, the notification led opens for 5 seconds as normal as in the previous android versions....then looses its power again....So i think that this is not a hardware problem .

Yup, agree about the LED, the green/red is a hardware limitation by HTC so lightflow and other 3rd party apps don't work in changing the colour.
I didn't explain the above fully but let me know if you any issues, will be happy to help.
Hmm I have not noticed less brightness with the last update, I feel it as weak as before..

Was just searching for light flow fix htc one and found this. Bummer but thanks
Would we cool if we at least could somehow mix the red/green blinks, ie having WhatsApp blinking red-green and LINE green-red. Is not much but at least would be something. You can even take it further and have more blinking states like green-green-red or red-green-red-green and so on. Xposed module anyone?

also is there a way to make the 'back' and 'home' buttons bink, without installing another kernel?

I think it's possible (search on the Market). The main difference (I believe) is that the kernel-solution will not drain the battery (other than the power consumed by the lights) and a application should be running on the background all the time listening to all apps thus draining a lot more battery. This is just the way I see it, I don't not if it's really the case!
It stops after a few minutes because It would we shifty annoying if it's keep flashing in 2 hours...
