hi everyone,
I just bought a htc g1 but I've a problem with it. When I turn it on there is that screen which says: sim card locked press the menu to unlock.
When I press the menu button I've to enter my pin code.
then there is a message which says unlocking sims card.
After a moment the green android appears and I've to touch it to begin.
after clicking on the android there is a message about setting up you t-mobile g1. I press the next button. after taht I press de sign in button because I already have a gmail account.
So I write down my username and my password and press the sign in buttton.
And after loading a while it says there is a problem communicating with the google servers.
The only other thing I can do is to press the menu button and the only option I have is to go to APN settings where there is like 15 t-mobile apn settings. But I don't have a t-mobile sim card I've a belgian sim card.
Thank you and sorry for my bad english.
Here is a good place to start http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475564 you will need to fix your APN settings. I am sure you can find what you need at that link, or someone who can help.

cannot communicate with google server error is internet problem.. you can use another carrier sim to do this. Its one of the ill advised requirement of this beautiful phone, An option for connecting google through WIFI would have been brilliant, but..

Here is how I did it. I booted the phone up and when it comes to the screen where it says touch the android to begin, you hit the Menu button. At the bottom you will see APN Settings, Click it then scroll down to T-Mobile US and change the settings in there to the one your network requires. Make sure you get the settings correct or it might not work. Check around for right settings. Then go back and begin the process of signing up and it should go through with no problem if you have the settings correct. Also if you cant use data on your current plan it wont work. If you have a data plan or pay per kb then it will work if settings are correct. Good Luck
Still no luck, my provider only has the APN server and the username and password for it, notting more, and those settings work well on the iPhone, so I have no idea why they don't work with the G1. Any ideas?
I have the same problem now, using the HTC magic. Were you able to solve your problem?

please don't necro 2 year old threads.. but all you need to do to bypass google is click the android > skip setup > and choose the 3rd options "Set Up Later"
Then sync via wifi when you get a chance later on.

So I wanted to check "locate my phone" feature of moto blur and went to the web site (https://portal-blur.svcmot.com/blur-web-portal), but could not remember my password.
I did a reset password through my laptop and changed it and logged in to the portal. But now that password is changed, phone throws up an error saying my blur password is wrong. I click on the notification to enter the new password, but the damn thing shows me the password change option with old password, and 2x new password instead of just the "enter new password" screen.
How am I going to enter my new password to this stupid blur?

Motoblur and Google asks u to relogin whenever u inset a different sim on the phone....so try putting a different sim (doesnt matter which network) relogin again .... it should work...
Not the best solution but should work..
Remove SIM card and connect via WiFi

Good idea -- that worked...
I was having the same problem.. Changed my Motoblur password (had forgotten the old one) online, then when the Atrix notified me of the password change, I got sent to the wrong screen. Changing the password here required entering the password I'd forgotten.
This procedure works on my wife's Motorola Cliq 2 - takes me to a screen that only asks to enter the new password. But my Atrix doesn't seem to do that.
I turned off the phone and extracted the SIM card -- I did not have another card handy to install, so I connected to a nearby open WiFi network. Motoblur locked the phone, and when it asked me to log in, I used my account name and the NEW password to log in, and it worked. I got one last notification about the password change, but I cleared it and moved on.
Everything seems to be OK at this point. Not the most elegent solution, but it did work for me (for now, anyway.)
I did the same thing. I had another sim card but it was a European operator card and I certainly did not want to rack roaming data for stupid blur So I waited until I went home, removed the sim, booted the phone, entered the new password, inserted old sim, rebooted the phone, re-entered the password yet again.
Deep from my heart I want to say "Idiots!" to people who coded this whole blur thingy at Motorola.
Thanks for the answers both of you by the way : o)
Looks like Motorola may be aware of the following issue (and may have attempted to fix it).
Their support site (Answer ID 63006) states: "You will need to type your new password in all three boxes, "Old Password", "New Password", and "Confirm Password".
I tried doing the following multiple times and had no luck. Finally found this thread and did what was suggested and all went well.
Had to turn the phone off/pull the back cover, battery & sim off/turn it on without sim/turn it off/turn it on with sim/re-enter my Motoblur username/password and it worked like a charm.

1. Go to Settings -> mobile network / cellular.
2. Switch 'Data connection' on.
3. Press the 'Network selection', and change it from 'automatic' to 'press to select'.
4. Hit 'press to select' and choose the network you're using.
5. Press the 'edit apn' button.
6. Enter the APN (Access Point Name), username and password, then press 'done' button.
I uninstalled Samsung's Network Profile app since I read a user report in a forum that app drawns the battery.
I bought an unlocked T-Mobile HTC HD2 and flashed to android. My MMS and t-zones is not working and I can't set it up. I tried going to settings-wireless & networks-mobile networks and go into Access Point Names but there is no option to add anything! It is just a black screen with APNs on the top left corner. What is wrong with my phone??? Please help I have searched everywhere and can not figure out what's wrong. Before I flashed to Android, I was able to use MMS and t-zones without setting it up and now it is gone with android! It is a new phone and I haven't even used it other than testing it before I flashed it when I got it yesterday.
when you were at the apn screen, did you hit the menu button and see the options to add new apn or rest to default? youll need to hit thenew apn button to add a new apn.
I found it!!! I thought the menu option would be on the screen and that's what I was looking for. I didn't know the middle button on the phone is for the menu. Thanks so much!!
I use an old HTC Sensation running Android 4.0.3 to hold my French SIM card when I travel to France. Clicking on Access Point Names opens a window where I see APNs written at the top but I have no way of adding one, the window is totally black and pressing on the title APNs doesn't do anything.
I succeeded in creating the APN. Once on the APN window just go to Settings to create a new APN
