Logo problems in my Jade - Touch 3G General

Hi all,
I've purchased my Jade in Singapore.
When i open the phone i get a Starhub button at the bottom of the screen left to the Programs button. and the top left, underneath the Start menu, sturhab logo. Starhub is a mobile provider in Singapore.
How can i get rid of those logos.
Same problem i get in the Internet button in the tuchfolio a get a big logo Sturhubtv insted of a World Globe.
Thanks for some ones help

I remember reading through this problem somewhere in various threads, but i can't remember exactly which forum.. If you do some searching, I am sure there is a solution to it.

Thanks i found a topic regarding this issue it was written that he flashed a new rom. i was told that flashing a new ROM can cause the phone to mall function.

Open up \windows\HTCHome Settings.xml , look down to <InternetWidget>
The first two lines identifies the .bmp files it uses to display in your internet tab. (something like this)
<Property name="IDINTERNET_IMG_EARTH" id="0" value="\Windows\HH_INTERNET_EARTH.bmp" />
<Property name="IDINTERNET_IMG_EARTHMASK" id="1" value="\Windows\HH_INTERNET_EARTH_MASK.bmp" />
If you want to change the logo -- just get any picture, resize it to the same size (same pix) as the original bmp, save it as the same name as in the 2 lines, copy them to \windows to replace the original files. Mask is just the shadow. Both can be the same picture. Rem: keep the original files somewhere else first, just in case.

Hi
I went into the registry Manila2D---> InternetWidget--->Customized--->
under Customized i get
{Default}-- {value not set}
BannerImage-- \windows\112X112.png
BannerImageMask-- \windows\112X112.png
BannerText-- Launch Gee!
BannerURL-- http://gee-select.starhubgee.com.sg/wap/
Waht sould i write in each of those items to get the picture of a globe like in the original pictures of the HTC
Thanks

OK -------- Solved the problem in the reg as you advised

I bought my Jade in Singapore, as well... What I did was just remove the tab altogether...

Problem with changing the Operator Name on upgraded 8525

I've been playing this weekend, first downgrading the ROM with 1.04 bootloader, so I could upgrade to the latest HTC x.35 ROM. Having done that and upgraded the radio to the latest version as well, I find I still have one issue.
I've combed through all the registry hacks and have flipped the right bits and entered the appropriate keys/strings and yet I can't get this phone to display anything but "ROGERS" (302720) on the today screen. I was successful changing the operator name on my HTC Herald before sending it off to a friend, but this unit will not cooperate.
Anyone have some hints on where else (obscure if necessary) I can look to make this thing display what I want?
I've never been able to do this either on the Hermes
I kinda think I'm missing the point here...but I got rid of most of my Cingular logos simply by simply downloading all the stuff in my 8525's \windows directory to my pc, and finding all the gif's, png's and jpg files that were Cingular logos. Then I loaded those graphics into photoshop and made transparent images of the same size and properties, saved them back using the original names, and reloaded them to the original locations on the 8525. Restart, and voila, no more Cingular branding.
Maybe this will work in your case?

No actually, this has nothing to do with the files on the phone, except that the tweak to change the Operator Name given the right registry value (302720) should work, but doesn't.
OK ... never mind. But I'm confused by what you're asking. You actually have Rogers branding on your Today Screen? Where does it appear?
Maybe this is something Cingular didn't implement? (Thankfully?)
Sorry I couldn't help. (wish there was an icon for "embarrassed"),
No, not branding, it's just displaying "Rogers" on the homescreen when I'd prefer to dictate what it displays.
Cruisin1966 - Rogers name is part of SimCard, you wan't change it.
Same was here - non VoiceStream (or current T-Mobile US) cards said VoiceStream (T-Mobile US), VoiceStream (T-Mobile US) cards said VStream (T-Mobile).
It is part of SIMcard and if your's OTA operator can change name as they want.
Hope this help
No disrespect intended, but please re-read my original post. I successfully changed the name displayed on the homescreen with the HTC Herald, and my question was why can't I changed the name displayed on this 8525.
Cruisin1966 - Question: Does Rogers has 3G network so your phone could log in there?

3G isn't available anywhere but around Toronto, as far as I know. Definitely not in/near Calgary, that much I do know.
Cruisin1966 - hmmm I thought that it might be OpName over UMTS but now it might be just imposible to change SIM directive in this model. I have the same problem with Cingular or T-Mobile.
Lets wait for official aku 3.3 and then we can go back to this discussion.

Changing Bookmark sort order in TouchFlo Internet tab...

Hi,
I've spent many hours reading through this very helpful and informative forum and its Wiki I learned a lot so far and will continue to visit...
There are a few questions/matters however to which I have not been able to find an answer at this point, even after using the various Search functions.
One of these question is the following:
Is it possible to change the Sort Order of the Opera-Bookmarks that are shown in the TouchFlo Internet tab ? It seems they are now sorted according to time of addition (when you add a Bookmark it shows up at the bottom of the list). I would very much like to see them sorted alphabetically.
Please advise...
Kind regards,
Rolf (The Netherlands, first-time PocketPC owner)
kick up
Did you find a solution to this? Anybody else?
Have you tried editing the file and changing the numeric order?
Which file are we talking about here?
Cheers
To change the order you need to edit the file opera6.adr in \windows\opera9
There you will see your favorites and you can rearrange them. Another way would be to edit the file 27c65cbd_manila which in my case looks like this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
<IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
<Banner
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"
SelectedImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner_selected.qtc"
Width="480"
Height="215" />
<OperatorLinks>
<Link
Text="YouTube"
Executable="\windows\youtube.exe"
ImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\youtube.qtc" />
</OperatorLinks>
</InternetPortal>
You can probably add there your own code, something like:
Code:
<Link
Text="Whateveryoulike"
NavigateUrl="http://forum.xda-developers.com/" />
I found this internetportal examples on a japanese site. I have no idea what they are saying but you can see the options you have there. I have not tested changing this file, but you can always try. The first method, editing opera6.adr works. I have tested it...

Hi,
I have a HTC touch Diamond which is brand locked. I want to remove the default bookmarks which are loaded in the Internet tab.
How do you edit the .adr file? Which program do you use?
Thanks.

Changing from Vodafone theme?

I've been looking around to see if there's a stock HTC theme for the touch pro 2, as I've got the Vodafone one, which is annoyingly red.
Is there a cab out there somewhere to get ride of it, does anyone know?

Thanks stunno, what issues are you finding?
I'd forgotten how flash happy I'd got with the Kaiser, it seems weird searching around again. Some of the tweaks on the site are incredibly clever, it's great here.
Yep, it's me from the dvd forums.
Talking of issues, I'm going to cry if I hit the off button once more by accident, I've got to find a different way to hold the phone when typing.
It looks like we are sorted!

and if you follow the weather location program instructions ie copy the manilla file to your SD card before you install this and then copy it back to thw windows folder afterwards, you don't get French place namse
Fantastic - works perfectly so far, thanks for linking to this!
I didn't do the thing to preserve English place names, and I've lost my shortcuts etc, but it's worth it - looks so much better!
Cheers!
EDIT: I've had issues with this, and now need to hard reset my device, as it won't start (gets stuck on Vodafone boot screen). This hapenned after installing this, then AnX1 Nature's Grace v1.0 over the top. This did not work, so I uninstalled both. I then tried to install this theme again (which failed near the end), and now the phone won't start, so I'll need to hard reset
I had an 'episode' this afternoon, too.
Somehow the start.exe reappeared in the task list on the home page and I accidentally clicked it. Manila hung as usual but then would not start at all, so I had to hard reset.
This time I installed the black theme first and am hoping for good things

Did you also install AnX1 Nature's Grace v1.0?
No I just installed the black theme that I linked to above.
Some of the fonts were a bit off on the AnX1 theme, so I thought I would wait until/if they were sorted.
2 days in and it's working perfectly!
After installing the black one from the Topaz secion I installed the Touch of Blue theme and it is spot on!
I think it must have been the cfc compression that was causing the problem

Hi, thanks for the info, I have just got a Vodafone one and the display is doing me in, my mates HD (unbranded) is what I am after!
Unfortunately what you posted (and other peoples links) are gobbledegook to me as I am an absolute beginner in this field.
I am not stupid, I am not lazy ( I have searched and read) but most TUT's assume you have a basic knowledge etc. I even downloaded a pack of utils to dump my own ROM as an experiment as a thread says 'this is what you need' but when I opened it I got a migrain as it was just a swarm of applications with no clear 'start'.
So what I am asking (nicely I hope) is that someone details step by step how to do what you have done, ie remove the shocking red/pink theme on my Vodafone Pro2 and get something like the stock colours on there.
I understand this is not a 'hard' fix just yet, but will try all the same.
Thanks.
elab
EDIT: Ok I have installed it and it is workin great !! Only one problem, I could not see a 'manilla' folder in Windows to backup prior to install and so now I cannot set the UK in the weather section, anyone know how to get my UK location back please (i use the weather app a lot !)
I think you may have a French manila file. You need to look for Royaume Uni for United Kingdom
There isn't a Manila folder the files you needed to back up are the ones in the Windows folder with manila in the name and no extension
EDIT: I have attached my English weather manila file (or I hope I have), extract it to your windows directory with Total Commander and overwrite the one that is there, then soft reset

Last question for now (I hope!) I am struggling to overwrite the file using Total Commander, I assume there is a way to turn file protection/write only status off is there?
Thanks again, I do appreciate it.
EDIT: Sorted it , I renamed the old file, pasted in the new and rebooted. Your file was the right one, thank you !
See, I am learning already
Glad to be of help.
After all that's what this site is for!
I have a vodafone TP2 too the red theme is annoying but I'm growing to like the white background and light feel to the theme, there are two things i would change.
1. the red part of the theme, I think a black/grey glassy look against white would look amazing on such a high Res screen.
2. the notification bubbles that pop up over the TF3D icons for SMS and email are small dark red with red numbers and are almost invisible. Nedd to be changed.
Is there an app or instructions for creating a new full theme for TF3D ??
I used to skin a lot of today screens and launchers on previous devices WM and Palm, haven't done it for a while but would like to have a crack at a new one for my TP2

Ooh, I hadn't realised as I didn't use Facebook on my phone before I changed the theme.
I'll have to do some research
EDIT: Have you looked at Skybook?

Not ideal I suppose but better than nothing, and better than the garish VF theme!
for those who are only annoyed by the message counter bubble (pretty hard to read black text on dark red background!), there is a fix here:

just one file to copy... pretty risk free...

Cheers for the 'dot'. I too have actually got quite weirdly fond of the vodafone rom after complaining about it to begin with.
I've changed the themes, etc and ended up changing back again, the only other thing I'd like to change is the bar that pops up when you are changing between favourite contacts. Black on red just doesn't work.
I'm assuming now that it's possible to change in the same way the 'red dot' is changed. Maybe it's time I stopped scratching the surface and got stuck in!
I've been using Max TTM (TF3D Theme Maker) to get rid of the Vodafone theme, only thing I can't change is the black text colour on all the screens (except home) which means you have to pick a lighter wallpaper to be able to see sms and the settings screens.

T-Mobile USA HD2 (STOCK ROM) Compatible Boot Animations?

So, I've been searching for a few days now... in order to find a suitable SPLASH SCREEN and BOOT ANIMATION to replace the T-Mobile USA standard, "Stick Together"... and the similar animation that follows. I haven't really come across anything that has been reported to WORK PROPERLY and NOT turn the device into a fancy paperweight. I'm wondering if anyone has found an alternative set of SPLASH SCREENS and BOOT ANIMATIONS that are compatible with the T-Mobile USA model, if so... I would greatly appreciate your assistance, or at least a point in the right direction.
Now, with that said... I'm also trying to figure out if there is a REGISTRY EDIT that can be made to ENABLE the BOOT ANIMATION once more, as I have disabled that function using BsB Tweaks v1.6 - and when I tried to enable the feature again, it does NOT work, even after the obvious soft reset that follows.
If anyone has insight on this topic, please don't hesitate to offer your advice. Thank you.
i've been wondering the same thing, without any results. Also looking for decent apps for the HD2. everything looks like the old windows mobile though.
I had the same exact problem when I used BsB Tweaks. The problem is that when you try to turn it back on BsB enters the wrong filename in the registry and thus it cannot be found and loaded.
What you need to do is to use a regedit tool and go into "HKEYLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation" and change the value for "StartupGIF" to "\Windows\startup480-800.gif". Reboot and you should be back to the way it was.
If you want to change the animation you can put any animated 480x800.gif in "\Windows\" and point to it with the above specified registry edit.
To find animations I did a google image search for .gif files and specified the image size to be 480x800. You should find a lot. I put the original HTC quietly brilliant startup animation and a couple others and went back to the original one. BTW, you can change the shutdown animation by changing "ShutDownGIF" in the same registry location.
Good luck and let me know if you need more info.
Sorry, I forgot to mention how to change the other startup pictures.
There is basically 3 startup screens that can be changed on the TMOUS HD2 (probably also Euro/Asia version too):
#1- First static screen that shows the magenta TMO square and text
#2- Second animated screen that I explained how to change above
#3- Third static screen with the windows mobile logo.
As far as I can tell #1 (first screen) can only be changed via ROM flash.
Again, #2 explained in previous post.
To change #3 (third and last screen):
Place two identical 480x800.png files (make sure it's .png) named "xxxx.png" and "xxxx.192.png" (change xxxx to your filename) in "\windows\" and point to it by changing the registry value in "HKEYLM\Software\Microsoft\Spash Screen" change "CarrierBitmap" to your "\windows\xxxx.192.png" file and "MSBitmap" to your "\windows\xxxx.png" file.
I made my own .png that shows my contact info and increased the "CarrierTimeout" and "MSTimeout" so it would show a little longer. Long shot in getting it back if lost, but it can't hurt, and it can't easily be removed unless they know what they're doing.

Thank you very much for all of this information.
Now, I'm curious as to how I am supposed to "point" or direct said files via registry? Do I need to store the .gif and .png replacements on my SD CARD or DEVICE? And once I've edited the registry with the EXACTLY MATCHED NAMES of the replacement files; will the device permanently "look" to that directory and LOAD the images/animations from that location?
Thanks again.
Oh, and I almost forgot...
I was looking for something like this, however... I cannot just "install" these .CAB files to alter the Booting Animation, or could I?
Here's the thread that has the ideal animations:

When I say point, what I mean is that when you go into the registry key, for example "HKEYLM\Software\Microsoft\Spash Screen" and you click on "CarrierBitmap" you'll change the value to "\windows\xxxx.png" so now it's "pointing" to that file. Hope that makes sense. I'm sure it'll be clear when you go into it with your regedit software. Your basically changing that particular registry entry to look at the file you specify, like a shortcut.
All these files need to go into your "\windows\" folder on your phone, NOT your SD card.
Until you change the registry manually or by flashing a new ROM it will permanently "look" at the file you enter in the registry.

Those are great, I've used them, so I know they work.
Forget the .cab files and do it manually via the method I explained. You can right click the animation in that thread and save it and rename and use as I specified. You can also download the file you need instead of right clicking, get the .gif file not the .cab from that thread.

I'm going to give this a whirl. It's my first time ever messing with such modifications. I used to create and flash alternative boot animations and splash screens on my Android devices, but this will be my "cherry popping" moment on the Windows Mobile platform. AWESOME!
I'm quite certain others will find your advice very useful as well.
You're welcome.
I would suggest anyone doing this should keep the original files as is in case you ever need to go back for whatever reason. Basically, don't delete the original files, just rename the new files and "point" to them.

I think some work. The problem with some of the cabs is that they were made for the Euro/Asia HD2 and the path and files in the US HD2 is different. That's why when you turn off the animation and turn it back on in BsB it does not work.
Quick question
Excellent directions and I have now put in some really cool animated .Gifs and JPEGs however I neglected to write down the name of the original Splash screen files that were for "Carrier Bitmap" and "MS Bitmap" In case I HAD to revert.
Do you know these?

I don't understand, can someone make a usa Tmobile HD2 cab file with the htc animation??? please? It would make my life easier!
I'd just like to replace them all with black versions because I often start my phone in low light, and the 100% default brightness is often a retina-cooking extreme.
Initial boot Black background/HTC Green logo.
Is that an option?

Fellas, please...
READ the first few posts, and you'll find every detail necessary in order to alter the animations and splash screen. After reading it, RE-READ IT!
It took me about two or three times of reading it to gain a thorough understanding of the instructions.
You don't learn to hack... you have to HACK to LEARN!
The only thing I have left to change is the initial splash on startup, and since that has to be changed via flash, does anyone have a black version with custom RUU?
The other two I have changed successfully, but that initial splash is still white.

Favourite icons....how to change

Was wondering if anyone happened to know how to change the icons for your favourite internet bookmarks on the internet screen.
Typically when you add the favourite it takes a screen shot of the webpage, but I'd like to change it to a different picture, maybe one I've saved myself.
Does anyone know if this is possible.
Also, I have a T-Mobile HD2, and wondered if anyone knew how to change the web 'n' walk logo that comes up once you have clicked a favourite.
Thank you advance for your help.
1. generate the thumbnails the normal way
2. go to \windows\thumbnails and copy all files to sd card
3. copy the files to your computer and modify them to your likings. make sure you preserve the file type and the exact names!
4. overwrite the old files with the modified ones in \windows\thumbnails
tip:
resize the thumbnails from 512x512 to 128x128. the internet tab will be faster and you will hardly notice any difference in quality.

But, when I click a favourite, or just click "Launch browser", a small T-Mobile web 'n' walk logo appears on the screen for a moment. It's about an inch wide and just stays on the screen until the browser actually launches.
I think that on non-branded phones, a short HTC clip plays before the browser launches.

ok, first go to \windows\opera9 and you'll find 2 png files:
Opera_loading_Landscape(...).png
Opera_loading_POR(...).png
open them and:
- if they are the ones you are looking for just copy to pc > modify (preserve the names!) > overwite the originals
or
- if they are the default opera spalsh screens with the htc logo then go to registry hklm\software\opera\info\ and you'll find 2 strings: spashscreenlandscape & spashscreenportrait. under the names you'll find the path to the splash screens you want to replace. go there, copy to pc > modify (preserve the names!) > overwite the originals.
i hope this helps, cheers

Was able to check in the Windows\opera 9 folder and it wasn't these pics, so will check the other option you've given later on after work!
Thank you SO much!
