Heard that the speakers was alot better on the Universal then it is on the Wizard? Can anyone confirm that the speakers _are_ better on the Universal thanks.
reply
DUDE -
i donno who told u that !
although i have no comparison to other - the HTC universal speakers are WEAK !
i had to amplify all mp3's i wanted as tones by 20-30% (volume) so ill hear them.
and quality isnt great..
Oh that sucks
hmm..that strange..I dun see any issue on soft speaker on my universal. The ringtone is loud and so thus the MP3.
I have both and find both speakers fine. Either the headphone output is better on the wizard or the headphones themselves because the sound it a lot better through headphones on the wizard.
What really annoys me with those little headphones though is that they dont go into your ear properly. Push them in with your fingers and the bass is really good. Then when you let go your back to tinny sound again.
Thought headphones would have moved on by now. Where are our microbe implants that are equiv to having some 400w technics strapped to your head.
I have to agree with the others, my EXEC's speakers are loud if turned to full blast. I can hear my MP3s playing from the other room with my door closed.

You can get headphones that do just that, from Sony, Shure and Etymotic, but to get that bass response they have to seal the ear with rubber rings. Cost aside, that raises serious safety issues for general use because it isolates you from external sounds. So they can be dangerous wearing them outside, as you won't hear the cry of "Look Out!" or that speeding truck hurtling towards you.
That said, I have some Shure e3cs, and they are stunning. What's more they're better for my hearing long term because I can keep the volume levels right down and still hear the finest detail in the music. I just have to be _very_ careful when crossing the road...

Get an adapter then you can use any headphones you like.
Maplin and Expansys do these:-
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=108470
But I prefer not to use the "one piece" moulded adapters as they put too much stress on the XDA socket. So I use one like this:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5852006398
(you get one like this with the £99 Orange C550 Music pack)
Downside is you have to unplug the headphones to talk, but I note you can now get them with a microphone (but AFAIK no talk button):-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5851815612
Or you could get one that allows you to use your audio headphones and a headset together:-
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119236
Another alternative, if you're handy with a soldering iron, is to take a spare HTC headset, dismantle the dongle that houses the talk button, disconnect the crappy headphones, and solder in your new ones, or, to be more versatile, the 3.5mm wired socket from one of the cheap adapters.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=523654&page=1&pp=30
Or buy it ready made, but with retractable cord, here:-
http://www.seidio-europe.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=230
(Note: Seidio's web page indicates the PTT and Mic wiring is the same for the XDA and the Treo, but I haven't tried it, so YMMV etc).
I will probably also be buying an adapter, but I'd like to know where to get some headphones. The Tilt doesnt come with any does it?
YOu mean headphones that fit directly into the TyTN II without an adapter? DOn't know if any "good quality" ones exist. Just the normal horrible sounding ones.
My question would be, why would you want to invest money into a quality set of headphons that won't plug into any other devices? Isn't that kind of a waste? Esp when an adapter only costs about $5.
Not being a wise-ass, just not sure if I understand the question or the logic...

well the only reason i asked was when i got my t-mobile sda, the headphones it came with sounded great! so i was assumeing if there were ones actually for the Kaiser/Tilt they too would sound good.
btw i thought usb would get better quality than an audio jack would?
I probably will get an adapter, which one looks better of the 3?

the first one is cheaper, could the quality be worse?

i would NOT get the first one, that's because the jack is silver plated while the other 2 are gold plated. Gold plated jacks give you better sound quality as it transfers signals better, but from the 2 other ones...they look the same, so i would just get the cheaper one.

thanks, i didnt know that gold plated jacks produce better quality, thanks for the lesson there.
another reason i was wondering about the propietary headphones was bcause they usually have a microphone. could someone recomend either good quality propriety headphones with a mic or good quality normal headphones with a mic?

To be honest, i just got a stereo bluetooth headset, coz now i can listen to music and make calls cable free. If you really want a connected answer though, i dont know anything about the propriety headphones, but from my experience i would stay AWAY from jacks that include a built in microphone...they advertise it, but it's really useless and has HORRIBLE quality.
Hey could you post a link of those BT headphones you got. I am interested in getting one but wasn't sure if you could make calls with them as well. Thanks in advance.
I picked up one of these for mine. I like having the controls handy, particularly talk/end.
does the 8525/hermes come with headphones? if so, were they any good? where can i get some like that?

There are 2 really good Stereo Bluetooth headphones. If you like headphones that go behind your head kind of headphones, then go for the Motorola HT820, if you like ones that cover your ear, but are not humongous, then go for the Plantronics 590A or 590E (they are the same, but the A version comes with a bluetooth adapter that you can connect to any 3.5mm jack and you would then be able to listen to music through that. Amazon actually has a VERY good sale on the Plantronics, http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Pulsar-Bluetooth-Headset-Adapter/dp/B000BK1QSE.
I have used both the plantronics and the HT820, and they are both very good.
Now if you dont like those, and you want an earbud style...you can get the SONY HBH-DS970, but i havent tried those yet.
Hope that helps!

It comes with a pair of headphones which have a mic, but they (obviously) do not provide very good audio.

Well i think they are the same pair of headphones, no?
what i mean is that they are not as good as the ones that you can buy separately.
I actually think the headphones included with the 8525 sounded pretty good. Not audiophile good, but good to the point that I would find myself thinking, hey these sound pretty darn good!
I know you can get them thru the ATT/Cingular accessory on line store (have to Google for a link). They make a set with a mic that you can use if you get or need to make a call. I personally hate adaptors as I have a tendency to lose them. o I like just being able to pull out the headset and not worry if I misplaced the adaptor. That's just me, though!

yea thats the way i am, dont really like adapters. only problem with buying the accessories from at&t is they're usually 40-50$, when really you can get a pair of good hedphones for under 20$ somewhere else, along with an inexpensive adapter.
so whats the concensus? Where can I get headphones with a mic for this $800 phone?? Whats the best option out there? Does nobody really make a good set for this device? I find it hard to believe.
A good option may be the Sony HBH-DS220. This is a bluetooth headset with A2DP and a microphone but you can plug in your own headphones. The earbuds that come with it are very good though. I have the same earbuds on my Sony Walkman phone and they are the best and comfiest buds i have ever used.

Dave - Do you know if the DS220s have a caller ID display? The photo appears to show some kind of tiny display but I can't really tell. Thanks.
I'm not sure. It does look like there is a screen but there is no mention of it.
Looks like the screen is just for pairing and battery life.

I have been trying to find a small mini-usb to 3.5mm headset jack to use with my fuze so I dont have to carry arround the big one HTC included. I have found a few places that sell them but they are all around $20. The cheapest I found was $12 which even though its cheaper, it still seems WAY too expensive for just this little adapter. Has anyone found on of these anywhere for cheaper??? It seems like it should only cost 5 bucks max. Can anyone help me out???
Thanks.
I bought one on e-bay for $6 and the sound quality sucks!!, I recommend you to buy those for $20
Suggestion: first link us to it so we can see?
If you're really desperate for great sound through and adapter, cut the wire for the adapter that came with the fuze. OPen it up and make it as short as possible.
what about this one?
http://www.amazon.com/i-Trek-Stereo-Multi-Adapter-T-Mobile-YS-AUC/dp/B000UHY6XU
i dont know about the sound quality, but it's cheap and small
ha after looking at it, i ordered one i'll let you know how it is after i get it in a few days
@omar
Lol. I have that one. I got it for my tilt and now use it with my fuze. Sound quality isn't the greatest, but it's pretty robust. I can take pics of it attached to my fuze if you guys want.

Yeah i saw the headphones missing in the Box on Google Play... I am just worried about the audio quality of N4... If it uses the same DAC from the Optimus G then it would be great... There are hardly any DAC's compatible with the S4 Pro Chip, so i suppose we should get the same DAC thats in the Optimus G...
Any Thoughts on that??
I'm fine with no headphones I'll just go buy a pair.
I have a pair of Beats Solo HD's and Gummys.
Do we know if the aux port will support both audio out and audio in as well as the button?
The Nexus 7 aux port only supports audio out (no in or button).
On a phone, I'd expect audio in to be standard (microphone).
I have loads of headphones around that I could use, but because the headphone jack being on top annoys me I went ahead and ordered a pair of Tenqa Remxd.
So the wireless charger isn't included
At $299/349, did you really expect it to? It's probably going to be an extra $30-$50 accessory, like the Touchstone for those HP webOS devices was.
Eh, my G2x didn't come with headphones, so I don't really mind. Plus, I'll just use my LG HBS-700 Bluetooth Headset.
Not much of a big deal, those earphones that come with phones are usually pretty crappy.
I really hope the quality is at least close to the Wolfson DAC. That's going to make or break this one for me.
Ehh, I'm not too upset about that. Sure, they're nice to get with it, but back when I bought Apple devices, I'd always just end up selling the headphones to a friend for $10 or something, as I think they're (as in, most headphones that come with phones) are pretty awful. I'm not a big fan of in ear headphones anyways, so it's okay to me.
I was kind of hoping for some new headphones. My current ones have too short a cord, but I can't get rid of them because no one seems to make regular earbuds anymore. They all are these horrid squishy earbuds. I can't stand them in my ears. I need the solid form factor akin to the Apple earbuds.
Anyone know of a good brand (maybe even wireless option without some tacky band) for solid earbuds? I need something that can fit in a pocket and isn't made of the squishy buds that seem to be all the rage right now... I really don't want to have to buy some Apple earpods, but they are looking to be the only thing that's made without squishy-ness and with a microphone.

Actually, they're going to be the same as the Palm Pre ones, apparently, or at least compatible with the other touchstones with a Qi standard or something or another. They mentioned it in some of the other threads, but yeah, those are about 5 bucks on Amazon, so hopefully that's true.
Eh, not too worried. Never have used the headphones that come with a device.
Not bothered. They are usually naff anyway.
Wow, this sucks.
Edit: No actually, not really
have plenty of headphones laying around. no worries. and for how cheap this is i dont expect anything in the box but the phone and the charger.
You can actually pick up a pair of the OEM galaxy s3 headphones on ebay for under $6. I've been plenty happy with those (and have since bought a couple extra pairs, just because they're awesome).
klipsch s4A

Yup. I rather they're not included at all and keep the price down (which they have)
Besides, everyone should own a pair of good headphones! I'll be rocking my Shure E3's with it.
Hey there, I'm looking for some decent speakers that I can take on the go. The idea is to be able to mount them with velcro in my car and be able to use them at work as well.
Any ideas?

Like for music wise? Why not use your car speaker system?
As for portable wise, I've heard of people using the Jambox. I have no idea on how good it is as I've never owned one. I believe they're $120-$150.

My car is older and I have no desire to replace the factory stereo installed. I really enjoy it, but there is no auxiliary input. And if there was a way to easily to add it I would. That's really the only reason I can't use the car speaker system.

You can just install a new dash? Ones with auxiliary ports are cheap these days, like 40 bucks.
But if not you can try blue tooth speaker? Sony has some.

check out the rocketfish bluetooth speakers, ive used mine in the car and it's loud enough even with the windows down. It's small and light enough to carry around and the battery should last you the whole day or most of it.
another alternative to use your car's speakers is a FM transmitter, Sound quality will not be that good but sound from a bluetooth speakers will not be that good either.
I ended up going with the Jabra Solemate. I'm trying it out right now and it seems to be working out pretty well so far. The sound is pretty good, and its built pretty tough.

Did you check Installer.com They have lots of solutions for situations like that.
in dash and bluetooth speaker
I have a logitech z515, picked up at Target for 50$ its pretty good and you can buy in dash stereo recievers with aux for around 60 for a sony , not a cheaper brand, if you wanted to go cheap, they even have them for like 40 on amazon. Then you have bluetooth speaker and radio in your car lol .
