Hey guys...
I am to buy a Blackstone and i am really looking forward because I think it is the best device ever.
But I'd like to hear your opinions.
What do you think is the stupidest and best thing about blackstone??
Please name only one thing
this may be interesting
thanks
(@mods: if you think this thread is stupid feel free to erase it, thanks )
Stupid;
MP3 Ringtone for sms plays until the song is over
TF3D is extremely limited
Agenda is annoying, can I replace it ?
Can't change the clock.. I want it smaller !
( only have the phone for a couple of days now tho ..)

LOL... Well how long should the phone play a file for SMS? The phone doesn't care that you're using a 3 minute mp3, it sees it as a single file, and plays it fully - just like it would play a 1 second file. The sms is an instant event, it does not have a duration such as incoming call, so it's quite normal that it will play the whole file. In case you want to play short mp3's you can use the mp3 trimmer software that came with your THD, and edit the length of any mp3 file.
About the clock... Just scroll your finger across the clock upwards, and voila!
NOT a big deal, but the power button is waay to flush (not tooo bad, but it is sometimes a bother) to wake up the device, and so with the volume rocker buttons.
The LED notification for sms/missed calls, etc. is too tiny to even notice.
These are just some examples...i know you said just one, but hey! Almost the best phone ever; nothing's perfect.

Dont you have a program on your blackstone called "mp3 trimmer"?
(Not really topic-related, but...)
@ Rozenthal:
Nice tip regarding the ability to change the size of the clock; didn't know about that. Perhaps your nugget of information might be best put into the "Hints & Tips" tread.
-thanks
On my nokia 6300 I installed an MP3 as ringtone.. when I opened the text msg the mp3 stopped playing. Doesnt work on the HD.. =)
Stupidest thing: With no d-pad they didn't build in any features to allow us to use the g-sensor or re-map the volume buttons to aid in list selections and stuff. Luckily there are 3rd party options to allow for that. Would've been nicer if HTC had included that stock though.
Best thing: Giant screen, great performance, sexy form factor. The device itself is it's one best thing.
big plus :
- highly customizable. Getting to the point after 1 month of tweaking where I'm really starting to love my touch HD.
to the cons :
hardware-wise
- 5mpx camera : the number is good for advertising but its quality in low light conditions (even inside) is IMO worse than on my old Motorolla Razor V3 (to be fair though: outside quality is surprisingly good) ;
- 65K colors : I'm not asking for 24bit colors as I don't see the sense having so many colors packed on a tiny screen but 256K seems a bit outdated - make it e.g. 256K colors or sth like that.
software-wise
- inappropriate video drivers: old story but with such a high screen resolution, video drivers need to be optimized, given that the CPU is still the same than the one in the Diamond.
- volume increments/decrements are not subtle enough on the TouchFlo 3D player, resulting in a too high volume when using headphones, even when tweaking with Advanced Config (HTC Audio Mgr).
Regarding the remarks made here :
*Agenda: it's absolutely worth spending the 15 bucks for ThumbCal. If you don't want to, then you can still use the old freeware version (search this forum), which is also nice. The paying version gives you the possibility to replace the WM agenda in the today screen, maybe with some registry tweaks this can be done with the freeware version.
* SMS sound : change your SMS sound to sth shorter, why use a whole song ?? simply cut a portion out of it, either using MP3 trimmer on your HD or a open source software such as Audacity on your PC.
Good things:
- great screen, perfect for e-books when you travel
- 3.5mm jack for earphones (but read the bad things to know why it's useless)
- it looks really awsome
- tf3d - it's limited but if the functionality it provides is all you need, then it's really great - I personally like it very much.
Bad things:
- it feels slow (because of the screen res and lack of hardware accel)
- you can't just carry it around in your pocket - the device has slide2answer built in, but the virtual keys below the screen are unlocked (even if you lock the device) during incoming call, so you'll answer / reject every call while taking out hd from your pocket. You have to use s2u2 or buy some hard puch to keep your hd in it
- YOU MUSTN'T BUY THIS PHONE IF YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO MUSIC ON IT
There is sound stutter problem - it's in Diamond too since the beginning - and there's really small chance HTC will fix it. If music playback is important to you don't, under any circumstances, buy this phone, or you'll be sorry.
- Loudspeaker sound quality is terrible - a lot of ringtones become heavily distorted when ring loudness is set to more than 40%.
My short comment - Considering the price I am VERY DISAPPOINTED and I will never buy HTC phone again, no matter how great it's look and specs are. I learned my lesson. HTC sucks.
GOOD:
- Big and clear screen
- Take out stylus will turn on the machine,
call connected; your phone will vibrate,
can choose not to charge when usb connected,
auto backlight (all of these are quite impressive...to me)
- Consider the display size, the battery is quite durable.
BAD:
- Terrible 5MP camera, slow response and nosiy pictures in room.
- Soft keyboard is no good.....need to swap between number/symbol and alphabet frequently.
- TF3D is customizable, but why only can change wall paper on first tab but not the others w/o tricks? (I think this is stupid)
- ***MOST*** need to remove the back cover in order to press the soft-reset button (use HD Reset can help some, but not all).......
bad point: stylus at the bottom of the device makes it impossible to remove it from A)- the case or B)- a holder without dropping the pen - suprised I aint lost it yet!
Stupid:
a. The small delay on ringing. Even though I have the ring tone in the \windows directory on the phone there is a one ring delay before the phone actually rings.
b. The phone is actually quite slippery. So far, I've had no accidents but I suspect it will slip out of my hands one day.
c. TF3D is pretty but also pretty limited. It's great eye candy but for any serious function you often will need a full app. One exception is the stock tab which has a great extension. Shame the number of stocks is limited. Weather is very pretty tab but seriously limited in options.
d. The volume buttons are designed for a gorilla - why do they need to be so big?
e. TF3D does not allow any other today plugin to run at the same time. Luckily we have SecondToday - great app. I run it with SBSH PocketBreeze.
Great:
1. Screen, the WVGA is wonderful, the screen is also very good, did I mention the fantastic screen?
2. Battery is good for a full/busy day
3. Memory is good - I never get a memory problem, there's enough !
4. Form factor - big and slim
Pros:
Big Screen (great for playing encoded videos using the encoder found in this forum and for showing off TomTom 7 to all those iPhone lovers)
Can run Microsoft's Voice Command (which i think is pretty cool)
Not an iPhone
Cons:
Buggy TF3D music player (limits the number of songs that can be shown in the playlist while Windows Media Player shows all)
Some issues with flickering on the grey bar (HTC has come out with a fix)
Sometimes will auto restart when listening to the radio (or maybe its just mine)

For this I use Singh's Tings Soft Reset:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450643&highlight=!SINGH!
Being Microsoft o/s I find this soft reset very helpful. I don't take the back too often now - I'm not sure the plastic could put up with the frequent stresses !!
Stupidest things:
- HTC took the rotate gesture out of the Album!
- TouchFlo 3D only works in portrait mode
Bad thing:
- makes me constantly wait for the next ROM version and WM version (6.5) because there's always a bug
Good things:
- great media device, especcially with Kinoma Player
- great sound from the 3.5mm headphone jack
- huge display
- decent camera
- lots of RAM
- plays high-res .mp4-videos smoothly
- syncs very well with OSX and syncmate
- much more........
Best thing:
- unlimited possibilities of Windows Mobile!
stupidest: the camera
best: the screen
stupid: no flash on camera
bad: mp3 skipping sometimes
smart: windows mobile despite bugs and nonfingerfriendly interface has so many 3rd party apps!
best: screen, for all aspects. brightness, resolution, size and sensitivity...
Best: Screen
Worst: F***en bull***t video recording (virtual 30fps - never got that), it should be called "super finely blurred slideshow capture mode" not video
best thing about the HD is; forum.xda-developers.com
seriously with this site in mind i had no reservations getting the HD
so many smart people making great software, and tweaks, and ROMs, and other cool stuff
most of the annoying things about my HD are gone or a mitigated by things found through out this site
this site is simply amazing
especially if you lurk and search a lot

Hope you don't mind me dumping my list of niggles for the Touch HD, I've been using it now for over a week after forcing myself away from my Blackberry, Axim x50v, Samsung media player and Samsung mobile phone.. I wanted to have something that replaced them all..
Still use the blackberry, but haven't used the axim, samsung or my mobile phone since so far but here are some niggles that have been coming up with:
In no particular order:
- If the keyboard isn't on in the SMS text viewing screen it sometimes wants to keep closing it when you open it..
- Wifi seems to forget your secret passphrase every now and again whilst you are using it.
- freezing especially whilst you are in the sms text screen - it comes unstuck after a few seconds (I know from here I'm not alone!)
- the inclusion of RSS Hub the new name of Newsreader that I used on my Axim, liked the way you could use swipes to the right or left to shift through the news items. Pity you can't click on the download arrows whilst it is updating to get a progress indicator anymore though.
- writing txt's on the move - as there isn't any real tactile response I have to look at the keyboard to text which is bad for me as it takes my concentration of where I'm walking. I'm now waiting until I can stop and just send the message - I think this would be the same as other touch systems too like the iphone.
- holding down the end key even though I've got it configured to do so does not lock the device, it may be because I've got the information screen configured.
- the case provided is a bit awkward when you're listening to music and you put it on and unless you do it holding it up through the front and back you can mistakenly turn down or up the volume or switch the screen on
- if you have a third party calendar/task application that replaces the built in versions that the manilla/touch flo does not respect that it should use those instead without hacks
- Video playback for h.263 files that plays smoothly on my 3 year old Pocket PC 2003SE VGA x50v does not playback smoothly via Coreplayer even if you say show it 100% and tweak. I'm looking forward to the Coreplayers new version when it comes out that should rectify that.
- Because there aren't any hardware buttons it's a bit more awkward to skip ahead in coreplayer..
- Is there a way that would allow me to remotely control the player such as next, previous play and pause as well as take a call from the headphone jack? It looks like the only ones you can get use the USB connector at the bottom..
- new notifications such as texts indicator of how many new messages take a while to dissapear if you view them in the TouchFlo interface, you may have to open up the message for the indicator to clear.
- When browsing via the opera browser, some pages can't be scrolled to the full length of the page - it just doesn't let you unless you zoom right in even though the scroll bars indicate you can.
- Entering text via the keyboards with T9 mode, occasionaly it adds the word you previously typed but may have not pressed space on (even though it shows up on the screen).
Hi all,
I've noticed talk of several bugs in the OEM release of the TD2. Thought it would be useful to list them here along with any relavent data. Hopefully, HTC might notice and give us fixes in a new ROM Can you prefix them with a number so we can track/comment on them more easily. (Can we sticky this thread???).
So far I have found....
1 - Green charge light sometimes never happens.
I've noticed this only when using the wall charger (PC USB charge is never a problem) that despite being on charge for hours the light remains orange and the battery level never completes the last block. If I soft reset the deivce and check again it now shows all blocks as green and charged. Before a hard-reset has resolve this but it has come back again.
2 - Alarms do not sound.
On several occasions, depsite the alarm being correctly set and a valid sound file selected no notification has occured (no screen message, vibrate, alarm sound or light flash). These seem sporadic and appear to be fixable by resetting the alarm tone.
3 - Hotmail/MSN uses GPRS/3G even when connected via wifi.
Annoying as wifi is often faster and free
4 - Constant Vibrate (or no sound) when receiving SMS message.
About 1 in 50 messages, the phone starts vibrating continuously but nothing else happens. If you turn the screen on you get the SMS sound notification and then the vibration stops. If you set SMS not to vibrate you have no way of telling you have an SMS until you next turn the phone on.
Rich
- The phone sometimes doesn't respond to turn on the screen from sleep when pressing power button
- Phone doesn't vibrate on messages when Vibrate profile is active and phone is in sleep mode
These may not be bugs but...
7. Cut/Paste is a pain... worst is cant cut and paste between different apps.
8. Dubious Keys:
- Softkey Phone and Hard key Phone
- Softkey Start and Hard key Home. Home key displays the "All Programs" similar to TF3D1. I'd prefer Start key to display "All Programs" and the Home key be link to some other user defined apps.
9. In general the UI is worst than TF3D1
Hopefully HTC can correct and improve the UI. What a shame...
TQ
Hi folks,
I don't know either if this is a bug, but it's a little annoying.
There is often a delay, after pushing the windows-button or start-button on the screen to open the Start-Menu.
Especially in the beginning it happened to me, that I pushed it again (as I thought I haven't pushed it correctly) and then it came up and shut down again.
Regards,
JTGBDR
Hi,
I doubt that WMV lag problem is also a bug in its implementation for WMV decoding.
Following is my finding:

This is exactly the sort of unresponsiveness that's going to make me get an iphone if WM6.5 doesn't impress me.
If GPS looses fix whilst in use (by moving underground or indoors), its never able to recover even when there is clear line of sight to the sky.
Only resolution (and very messy one at that) is a reboot, upon which GPS fix is attained immediately.
most annoying.
- Delivery notification for text messages in HTC text editor

- Sentences won't start with a Capital in HTC Text editor
In the standard Windows text editor, The first character in a sentence is converted the capital equivalent.
- Alarm at 6:00 isn't deactivated (quite annoying in weekends !)
When I change my alarm time or deactive my alarms .. one alarm will still go off.
- No cut/paste in most TouchFlo apps
Really a pain in the ass sometimes.
-TomTom voicecutting

Almost all of these problems are solved by switching off TF3D2. I've done so and pretty much all of my problems have gone away. I've got more free memory, the phone runs a lot faster and all those little niggles like yours have vanished. It might not be as pretty, but if pretty is your thing then get an iphone ;O)
WM6.5 will pretty much make TF3D2 redundant anyway...
New features that I would like on TD2 TF3D are the capability to sort the contacts by company on and the capability to show on home screen the tasks for the present day...

Just turn off TF3D and your wishes are granted.
Incidentally, another TF3D bug: When sending a text, if it fails to send, TF3D gives you no way top resend it. You have to go to the standard WM6.1 SMS application and do it from there, unless you want to retype the whole thing.
Oh and another one (more of an annoyance than a bug) - TF3D won't allow you to change the "File as" when creating a contact, you have to (again) go into the standard Contacts screen to do this. Really annoying when you're adding the contact for a company and want him filed under the company name.
I've found TF3D to be more of a hindrance than a help.
- network key gets lost when switching between networks (and then can't paste it back in with TF3D interface, need to use WM native app)
- text messages recevied without a number (for example train company alerts, bank, phone company) are not viewable when clicked on !. They show on the home screen but then don't show in the contact centric view - and you can't add them as a contact because there's no number
- sending emails via wi-fi works intermittently. I can receive Ok but sometimes need to open a phone data connection to send

This is a huge problem throughout the TF3D interface - I don't understand how, while attempting to add some gloss to the WinMo experience, HTC managed to remove so much basic functionality.
I've been running without TF3D for a couple of days now and I'm finding the experience to be quite liberating, if a little graphically dull. Everything works as it should and is nice and snappy. I'd recommend giving it a go for maybe a week, see how you get on. To my mind, the big problem with TF3D is it's only any good if you want to do anything really basic. The moment you need to do anything slightly different, TF3D gets in the way as you have to dig through the gloss to get back to the original WM6.1 applications, which, after all, do have all the functionality. Better, to my mind, to drop the gloss and get all that nice functionality right from the start.
Heck, without TF3D I actually now get automatic capitalization at the start of every sentence when texting and emailing!
in File Explorer you cannot select multiple files because TF3D scrolls the list instead of selecting a range, and there's no way to tell it to select when i drag instead of scroll like opera does. Extremely annoying when having to move photos from internal ram to storage card, speaking of which...
If you plug in a USB host and select "Mass storage device" with the camera application open, then close Camera, it saves its setting to save photos in internal memory. So next time you open it without USB mass storage device enabled you end up with everything in internal memory - which you cant access through the USB mass storage mode... again extremely annoying and fiddly to sort out the mess it makes (see above) -
That's exactly what I mean. TF3D causes far more problems than it solves. To my mind, it's a marketing gimmick to help sell more phones - functionality-wise it's rubbish.
In the normal WinMo6.1 today screen, for instance, the Calendar widget shows me my next appointment, even if it's several days away. TF3D? Unless the appointment is today or tomorrow, you can forget it. Wanna know how many tasks you've got outstanding? Not in TF3D.
How about using a lock password that only activates if I haven't used my phone for 15 minutes? Impossible in TF3D.
TF3D has gloss. That's just about it.
I like it, just needs a few improvements - it's not going to remain buggy forever - so we shouldn't write it off straight away.
Yes your right they did it to sell more phones, but so did apple with the iPhone, because consumers like swishy smooth sliding things, not clunky window ce interfaces..
I used to go through hell every morning trying to drive windows ce just to shut my alarm up, or alter the alarm time, now i can do it my sleep.
I've heard MS have commisioned HTC to work on standard interfaces for windows mobile, so I'm sure they'll be watching this thread.
Get your bugs in and help change a good step into the right direction to a massive leap forward that you can't live without...
be +ive!
I expect WM6.5 will be out before a new version of TF3D.
I hear you talking about TF3D2 like it's crap.
It has its bugs and flaws, but there are some things you forgot to mention:
1. I replaced my standard Touch (yes, the first one) for the TD2
Why ?
I had to use my stylus for every single thing ... not really convenient right ?
With the TD2 I almost never have to use it, except for playing Bubble Breaker
There are some exceptions, but they are very rare.
And that's one of the biggest advantages of TF3D2.
Ofcourse, with WM6.5 on the way, it's possible I'll have to agree with you and shut down TF3D2 ... I'm pretty sure HTC will release a new version of TF3D2 when it's out though !
We'll see who's right in a few months ... but for now, TF3D2 is the way to go !
2. Why give up on such a great modification of HTC ?
It combines the usability of WM with a touch (literally) of gloss ... AND functionality.
The new people centric way of working is just awesome for example .. and it's not the only thing.
But nevertheless .. I have to agree ... it takes away some standard functionality of (compared to other mobile OS's) strong WM.
On the other hand, it adds lots of it ... meaning with a small number of bugfixes, it CAN be awesome (which WM standard is NOT).
Greets
I'm perfectly capable of using the standard WM6.1 without a stylus 90% of the time. I understand people with big hands might not though. The "People-centric" thing in TF3D isn't something I use to be honest, I've never needed to see all the different means I've used of communicating with a specific person. *shrug*.
Compare to this: Without TF3D, my today screen now gives me the following info, all WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING THE PHONE except to turn it on...
Current playing music: artist, album, track, track number
All upcoming appointments
How many unread messages I have in each email account and in SMS/MMS
How many unread RSS headlines
The date and day of the week and time
A list of my outstanding todos
What scheduled direct debits and standing orders are due o my bank accounts
My current status in Windows Messenger
A Live Search bar
A Tomtom button
And that's just for starters, I could add tons more just by downloading plugins.
That is a shedload more functionality than TF3D.
BUT - I'm not saying everyone should ditch TF3D - some people value gloss over functionality, and that's why the iPhone is selling so well.
Some people might value this people-centric thing over knowing what todos they have or what music they're listening to. That's fine!
You got me on one point though ... Windows' customizability.
That's something you'll have to lose when using TF3D2.
-I don't use my mobile as a music player for now (will do that when I receive the USB to audio jack to connect it to my car's audio).
-I never use RSS
-I can see the amount of mails / SMS's I received.
-Upcoming appointments ... I can understand people complaining when they're only able to view the ones from the current and the next day.
On the otherhand, that list would be larger than one complete screen, so no biggy here for me.
A list of appointments is inconvenient and not structured enough.
That is why I liked the week view of WM ... and that's a great miss in TF3D2 in my case !
- I include a reminder for my todo's (tasks) ... otherwise I will still forget things ... I'm not the kind of person who checks the task list enough ... the reminders work for me.
- Don't use Messenger on my mobile ... it would drive me nuts ... I spend enough time reading my mails
- I rather prefer the Opera toolbar if I want to search for information, so no live search for me.
- Tomtom button ... could be handy indeed !
I just like the 'tabs' working way.
It gets you information you want in a structured manner.
If I list the weather, the number of missed calls, the time, my appointments, mails, todo's, ... all on one screen .. I'll get lost ... just too many TEXT on one screen !
That's why I like the tabs.
But to completely compare ... I should try to use it without TF3D for one week.
Maybe I'll write my plugins for the home screen one day ... to adapt them to my personal needs ..
But indeed ... I'm also waiting for the WM 6.5 release ... one of the reasons why I bought this phone.

Brief intro...
My primary phone is a jailbroken iPhone 3GS 32GB which I'm extremely happy with. I bought the HD2 as a second phone because:
- from a hardware perspective I reckon it's the best smartphone in the market
- it's stunningly big and beautiful capacitive screen
- multi-touch capability
- Sense UI moving closer to iPhone UI (pinch to zoom, coverflow, etc)
- I had a cellphone contract that was due for an upgrade.
- I tend to collect gadgets
However, now after a few days with my HD2 I can't see it being promoted to my primary phone. Nevertheless I still wish to maximize the HD2's functionality as much as possible.
So my first question regards the Sense Music Player - Is there a way to search for songs, artists or albums?
My music library is quite large and its tiring to have to scroll to a particular song or album. For example, to find Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks" on my iPhone, I type "BLO" and it's right there.
I also have a whole bunch of issues with the default email client which IMO is terrible, but I'll address those later.
My ROM version is 1.43.421.1 (70315) WWE
I haven't found a search function, but I have to be honest I never used that function on my iphone either. A function that would make life a lot easier for me would be to search using an alphabet down the side, as per the contacts on the HD2, or even the music on the iphone. Can this be done?

The iPhone Search option is found above the A in the Alphabet navigation scroller. You can also use Spotlight for system wide search.

Unfortunately that isn't possible. But if it is extremely important to you there are other music players that have search functionality. One of them is pocket player conduits.com an extremely powerfull musicplayer.

Thanks, I check it out. Hope it works with 6.5...
What I didn't like of the iPhone was that I was forced to use apple's player. There were some add-ons on the market, but a total replacement no...

Sure, but then for me, a replacement 3rd party player should be able to:
(1) fully replace the default Sense player AND
(2) match or beat the iPhone player
Otherwise I'm going backwards.
Any news about search function?
I can't understand why htc didn't include this simple but useful feature on this great phone.
+1
damn annoying to scroll everytime to find a song
Maybe HTC is reading this forum, so I start a thread for your changes and wishes for HD2. My changes are (wishes for HD3):
- Oled display
- display with capacitive sensors AND press sensitivity , for gloves, finger nails, stylus
- More battery power or less power consumption
- Hardware GPU support for ALL applications !!!
- TV - Out with adapter
- Hardware Buttons in better quality AND going inside (like iphone , Grr) , so you don´t press always any button if you just take the phone in your hand
- Maybe better CPU power or dualcore. I don´t need it right now, but 1 year is a long time and I want to avoid that htc use the same CPU for another 5 years as in the past
- Camera with 720 p video and better lenses.
- stronger WiFi connections
And my manila wishes are:
- manila style Task manger / switcher
- manila style task management tool instead of MS office old thing.
- manila style notes
- manila style counter and stopwatch, like it is in Android right now.
- manila style Email client !!
- better album application, with easy folders access.
- much better mp3 player ! : I want rate my music (and sync, of course), intelligent playlists for my own ( 4 stars, for example), I want to search for music with keyboard and switch fast though it with letters on the right side to jump to S for example. The last two wishes are already there, in the contact manager !! I want the same for music and video ! Better caching of thumbnails, there should be no reload every time I scroll. (same as contacts, there IS no reload !! right now )
- video player with folders and DETAILED view: I want an image AND the name of the movie ! Most time you can´t see what file it is, because it is just a small image . Rateing and playlists, too. And of course keyboard search and Jump to letter, just the same interface for contacts, music, videos, Footprints, weather cities with same slight modifications for each area.
- manila style google maps application with smooth !! multitouch.
- Opera 10 with multitouch, of course.
And : SAVE AND SNYC with ALL Manila and System settings with my desktop or in a file at least !!!!!
Imagine, you do a Rom Update or Hard Reset, just load this settings file and ALL your favorites and "make it mine" settings are back, without hours of tweaking again, your email is set up again, you weathers, your ringtone, ALL of it ! What a dream.......
edit - deleted until HansZimmer version 3 is released with a better humour chip.
I don´t understand your message. Do you think HTC is not going further anymore ? I don´t think so and just want to tell what for me as customer is important for the next device. And as far as I know htc is building the devices for us customers, so I let them know which areas are important for me. If you don´t have anything to tell about this subject, please let you opinion on another place. thank you.
How would I change HD2? I'd have it fulfill all the promises on the box and the specs: SMS without anguish, all notifications working as advertised, OS that worked out of the box and not needing constant hotfixes, a battery that doesn't have you constantly scoping out the next available wall plug...
Shall I go on?
Yes, please. This is the why I started this thread
Hardware: Nothing. I'd say it's perfect for now. No doubt it will be improved with faster processor, more memory, wimax in the future, but that's how it goes, and for its time it's just perfect.
Software: A "bigger" Sense. As in continue what has been done now, and "finish" putting that excellent layer over the old WM to hide it completely. But I'm pretty sure that's what WM7 will be. And don't forget to store a whole lot of settings in the registry so that we cant continue to tweak them to our own liking
Also, unified software and hardware specs to ensure inter-device compatibility, so we dont have software that works on some devices but not others, or miss support for hardware capabilities anymore, and a marketplace that goes with it. Also part of it as it seems.
longer battery, more than 3 alarms
that's it
imagine an HD2 with the same buttons on both side of the screen but the middle buttons are dpads/trackpads/touch screen maybe even track balls!

I'd love that! It'd be like the HP iPAQ hx4700 (4" VGA display PDA), which I LOVE. Buttons on sides and trackpad in the middle. Though I wouldn't want to make it bigger or make the screen smaller...
Stereo speakers. Such a beautiful device needs beefy sound to complete the package.
Bigger internal storage.
Sense should BE the default UI for Windows Mobile... forever. It is the most beautiful UI on any Phone OS to date!
HTC Should build their own proprietary OS just for their phones so that it is tailored to work the best in terms of speed and stability. And not some overlay on another OS. Love my HD2 tho!
The HTC HD2 is almost perfect! What changes I would like to see...hmmm...easy
1- Remove the camera protrusion in the rear.
2- TV-out
3- More internal memory
4- Video Call feature
5- Built-in VoIP SIP
What I would "want" them to do...
a- capablity to install Xeon QuadCore processor chip
b- Twin Hyper cooling fans for the processor
c- Night vision with heat/UV vision camera
d- Direct Blu-Ray quality video recording
e- Capablity to Plugin a USB external HDD
...think I've oozed out too much greed....I'll just stop now!

And don't forget this important aspect: purchase price!!
Putting the new HD3 on the market at $199 (€145, £127) would definitly be the best aspect of them all
And don't forget to give all accessories prices like: $27 for car charger, $ 25 for extended battery + cover etc..
Ah well... we'll have to keep dreaming, 'cause who knows what the 'evil' minds of HTC are up to next
Grtz,
Degake
santahtc,
yes, bring us good stereo speakers as my sharp 903 had.
and an always accessible SDhc card slot.
and a flat back, not that surfboard one!
I'd like the HD2 to have a more constructive forum on xda, where there's less trolls and flamers. Other than that, I can't fault it.
A touchscreen that enables typing would be nice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=595655

lol I was expecting just that.
There is nothing wrong in pointing the good and the bad stuff.. I happen to be one who has those problems... Shouldn't I be looking for solutions?
Cheers mate! Peace!
Is it just me, or are people wanting a quad core laptop in a smartphone...
The reason I got the HD2 was to combine my phone, PDA and media player, and it does
My pockets are so light now.
One thing, I wish I could lock the screen during music/video playback I want to see the screen and not pause the playback accidentally
USB host
Video Out
Better battery performance
IrDa to control my TV
I've had my Mini for just a few days. I had a Touch (elf) and I am having difficulty doing some of things on the Mini that I did on the elf.
1. Some of the fonts are atrocious. Clear Type? Well, I read that you have to tweak the registry to make the Screen function available. So, Supwitdat? Seems a step backwards. Maybe there's another way.
2. The calendar on the Elf has a robust array of of selections for scheduling appointments. For example, I have an appointment that happens every other Sunday. I couldn't figure out how to schedule that appointment in the Mini. Did I miss something? Perhaps there's some good calendar software that I could install to replace the HTC version.
3. Ok, I'm a bit long the tooth and my hearing ain't what it used to be. The thing is that unless the phone is in my hand I can't hear the audio files provided for ring tones, reminders and notifications. The volume on the phone is full blast, too. Perhaps there are web sites where loud (for the older folks) can be found.
4. Apparently, the full keyboard doesn't have a delete key. That's weird.
Thanks in advance.
Anybody got any Ideas or suggest, I'd be grateful.
I had the same gripes with the new calendar. HTC dumbed it down into basic useless eye-candy. I used ThumbCal 1.4.3 to replace that. (Not exactly replaced. I deactivated the calendar tab from the homescreen, and changed the left soft key to ThumbCal for easy access.) ThumbCal is a magnificent calendar app. Answers to most, if not all, of my calendar needs. Including scheduling complicated recurrence and making duplicates. Although the tiny icons-only tags can be confusing at first. As opposed to the text description of WinMo Calendar. But you'll get the hang of it shortly.
For the ringtones, the speaker actually works fine. Good enough. But the problem lies in the physical design of the loud-speaker grill. It's flushed with the rubbery back cover. So the surrounding rubbery cover tends to provide an airtight confinement around the grill if you placed it on the desk. Effectively muffling the speaker. Same case when in the pocket. So you have to place it on something uneven on the desk, and rely on the vibrator in the pocket.
As for the full keyboard, you'll just have to rely on the backspace key.
I got another major problem with the mini.
In Excel Mobile, HTC somehow strangely disallow you to hide the headers and scrollbars in normal view. It can only automatically disappear in full-screen mode; but together with it, the status bar disappears, and you're not allowed to unhide it in full-screen mode. Making Excel quite difficult to use in mini.
Anybody knows how to tweak this in registry?
Thanks for you input, Fellas. I really do need a better calendar so I am now on the hunt.
Hi thar,
i have realy major issue with this mini device ... it came to me with old 1.06 ROM, so i've decided to download and flash the new 1.36 ROM, since that time iam unable to play any mpeg4 video, no matter what player iam trying (TCMP, CorePlayer, Smartmovie, Default Windows player so far) all those keeps telling me that iam missing some god damn MP42 codec all i can play is basically only MPEG, MPEG2 and uncompressed AVI. I've tried my best to find this codec on the interwebz, yet i failed badly.
So if anyone got any idea how to fix this annoying problem i would realy appreciate it.
P.S. yes i've tried redownload/reflashing the ROM
