Adding folder to now playing list - Touch HD General

Hi
I have a small question, probably been asked before, but couldn't find it by searching:
Is it possible to add all the songs in a folder to the now playing list using the file browser, without having to select each file (or make a playlist)?

Set Opera download folders

Whenever i try ad download someting from opera I get the option to choose where i want it to be downloaded to, however, if I choose storage card the only options I can pick are none or loads of folders of copilot.
Is there a way to specify which folders opera gives me as options to download to?

Yeah, it's basically a very poor replacement for a folder treeview. I don't know what order it's sorted the root folder of the storage card, but it shows the 1st folder and then any subfolders of that, and any of their subfolders etc. etc. etc..
I'm the same as the charliebarter that the CoPilot folder is at the top of my list, so we get a recursive list of CoPilot sub folders, and the list runs out before it can get any further. Even if the dropdown allowed more entries, I certainly wouldn't want it to carry on and list every single folder on the storage card!
It's just crap on the part of the Opera devs. (So is the fact that there's a rather small limit on filename lengths, which includes folders so you'll end up with files called something like "\Storage Card\Folder\Sub Folder\Filena", instead of Filename.)
I don't know if Opera 10 is better in this respect, but I prefer the zooming in Opera 9 so I don't want to upgrade.
New Folder.....
Create a new folder on the root of your storage card & download to that. This is what I do. I have a folder on storage card called 'Apps' & download to that. Hope this helps.

The problem we have is that we don't get the option to save to any folders other than the long list of copilot folders. The list cuts off before getting any further than the many many subfolders of copilot.
I do have other folders in the root of the card. I just can't save to them. I end up saving to the root of the card and then moving files later, but that's just daft.

Device Memory Running Low

Get this error the other day, and again last night! Says that I was running low on Memory, and wouldn't let me load the YouTube app! Then Last night as I was using Opera, it gave the same error....
So, did some searching throught the File Explorer, and noticed the YouTube folder was rammed with tiny JPEG images....
I plugged the device up to the laptop, and thouht it'd be easier to deleted files this way as you can highlight and then hit delete!
However, it wouldn't show the "Windows" folders. Even when I changed the properties to show all hidden files and folders....
So, a couple of questions....
How do I access the Windows folder on my HTC via my Laptop? How do I stop YouTube, Opera etc storing all these files and clogging up the memory?
TIA,
Mat

Why don't u try Resco Explorer.
Menu--Edit--Multiselection Mode. It will go to the multi selection mode. Then,
Menu--Select All. Then, You just Uncheck those that is not JPEG Files. Delete.
Well, That's one of the ways....
you can access the windows folder on your device by selecting "active Sync" when you connect the phone to your PC.. then just use windows Explorer from your PC..
need to un tick "hide system files" as well as show hidden.

Hi again guys..... Noticed again last night that the device memory is running low....
I managed to connect to the laptop, and show all hidden files and folders... I deleted all Opera Temp files etc, and YouTube files and that only gave me about 30Mb back. Noticed I have several hundred manilla files within the windows folder.... IIRC, they are a combination of numbers follwed by _manilla (ie, 123456_manilla). Not sure on the file type. I highlighted all these and they only came to a few Mb......
Not sure where all the files are being stored, and what is "clogging up" my memory? Maybe browsing on Opera, is causing it. But AFAIK, I deleted all possible temp files etc.....
All I do on the phone is ring and text (obviously), check emails, and browse on Opera. Now and then I may use YouTube, and very rarely use the Facebook app....
Not sure what files I am ok to delete. I don't want to deleting something, and cause a problem later on!
Any suggestions on what to check?
TIA

well here are the basic windows folders that you can clear out.
Windows/app data/volatile
Windows/cookies
windows/history
Windows/temp internet files
windows/temp.
also these folders may be repeated in the windows/profiles/guest folder.
temp folder in root
all those manila files, that actually "is" manila.they're the various scripts codes and layout files.

found a guest folder, not much in there.... also have to delete one file at a time. If I try to delete multiple files it says I don't have permission (or summat like that)... But if i do one file at a time, then the folder, it lets me...........
still stuck, and only have about 12.4Mb on Device Memory left!
also just deleted the cache folder within the Opera folder.... That free-ed up all of 5Mb!!!!!!!
then all I can suggest is running searches for files larger than..... well, start at 500k and see what turns up.
make sure whatever file manager you use is showing everything.

Redirect Avatar Icon somehow?

I made a new "Movie" folder on the internal memory of my Vibrant and transferred the Avatar movie into it but of course now the Avatar Icon doesn't work anymore. "file not found" error..I knew that was going to happen and now when I go into the new Movie folder and click on the avatar.dcf file it won't open properly. I have to long press the file > click "open as" > then click "Video" to be able to watch the movie.
My question is, is there any way to possibly re-direct the Avatar Icon to open the movie from the new location? I'm sure there is probably is simple way of doing this and it probably would require adb which I am still new to and haven't been able to get to work yet on my laptop running Windows 7 but if there is another way of doing it not requiring adb I would greatly appreciate it.

[Q] Saving pdfs to a homescreen?

I'd like to put some PDFs on one of the homescreens on my Xoom. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot but it doesn't seem to have the capability built in. Could someone explain to me how to do this? I downloaded ES File Explorer and found the pdf in the download directory. I assume I can just cut and paste it to a directory and it will show up on a homescreen?

I do the same thing. We recently bought a house and everyone always as me for pictures and the floor plan. I created a pdf that I sent around, but it's useful to have it on the xoom to show people.
I have two suggestions, both of which I use:
1. Download Astro. You can then create a direct shortcut to any file including a pdf. Go to "+" --> More --> Astro. Browse to the file you want. The location depends on how you got the pdf onto the device. Since that file doesn't change, that works.
2. Use dropbox. This is good option for pdf's that change a lot. I often read weekly publications that I get in pdf. I created a direct shortcut to a dropbox folder. When I'm using my computer, I get and store pdf's there and use it as a "read later" option. Creating the dropbox folder is also in the "more" tab.
Both work for me pretty well. hope this helps.
to answer the OP android doesn't support files on the home screen like a desktop on windows or Mac

[Tip] Hide those private files from prying eyes

All of us at sometime want or need to keep some of our files secret on our phone.
Quite by accident I found a feature in an app called File Expert (download free from Android Market or attached to this post) which allows you to hide files from media detection.
All you need to do once you have installed File Expert is browse to the folder(s) containing the media files you want to hide, press the folder for 2-3 seconds and select the option 'Hide files from media detection', reboot your phone and thats it done! Unhiding is just as simple; just select unhide from the File Expert menu in exactly the same way.
I can confirm that it works on both picure and video files. I haven't tried it on other media so am unable to comment. The only downside is that you can only do it at folder level so I would suggest that if you have a folder with a mixture of both files you want to hide AND be visible, simply create a sub-folder, move the files you want to hide to that and hide it
Hope you find this useful
I use colournote to hide notes if I need to. Audio manager from the market can be used to hide files as well..

Simply create a new file named .nomedia using any file explorer in the folder you want to hide(aka exclude from media scanning)
Use hide it pro to hide files
It appears that people are missing the point of my thread. Let me explain:
People like us who are experienced Android users may well know how to hide files but this doesn't mean others new to the OS do so it was with this in mind that I started the thread.
I just happened to find an alternative use for a program which is recommended on this site for file management and thought I would share my knowledge (which is what I thought was the point of a tips and tricks thread). I use Audio Manager aka Hide it Pro but my thread wasn't intended to be about that or file hiding programs in general it's about File Explorer and how we can use it to hide files and folders if we want to.
I'm not telling people this is what they should use; if people choose to, great, if not then I'm not going to get upset about it. As I said I'm just offering an alternative method of hiding private folders/files using a program that many people are already using and may not know that the option exists - I certainly didn't.
Hope this clears up any confusion and clarifies my reasons for creating this thread

Thats true!
Actually any file or folder with A dot (.) in front of it will be assumed hidden so don't bother about the the naming.
Well, don't forget that anybody can see your file or folders if he selects "show hidden files" in the file explorer.
