Map Network drive - Networking

I am having problems mapping a network drive. I have tried the HTC plugin and Resco, but have the same problem. I no longer am prompted for a username or password when using the plugin. When using Resco, I try to connect using a different user with no success. I am able to connect to shares that have permissions to the initial username/password that I used.
That being said, I am convinced that WM6 has stored the username/password in the registry somewhere. How do I get rid of it so I can enter another username/password that does have access to the share that I am trying to connect to???

Tried the suggestions in your link. Even changed the LAN Manager authentication level....same problem. It says mapping succeeded yet no files are visable. Never asks for a username or password. Still seems that it is caching the original username/password that I initially used.

Ever figure this out? I have the same problem on my touch diamond, it says map successful but when I go in the network folder there is nothing visible.

wizard pocket pc networking doesn't remeber network logon

im using resco viewer to browse network shares, because they in intranet there is no protection over shares so you dont need to enter any user name etc, before i used to have security on shares, since i havce removed, my wizard keep asking username and pw to access to shares even there isn't any security, i can simply by pass it by entering no username and pw and just tapping ok, but it is so annoying to do it after every soft reset, why it doesnt remember ? other wierd thing is it remembers username from old share security settings, i have changed shares network name but it didnt work still same, can anybody help me?

Trying to access files on a Windows 2003 Server domain

Runnng WM6 on an i-mate JasJam (HTC clone).
I have wireless working fine and can surf the net. I don't have any proxy configured.
I try to use File Explorer to get to the files on my home server but when it prompts for username, p/w and domain, it keeps prompting or gives an error even though they are correct.
I'm giving it my Administrator login details and have the domain name correct.
I'm able to connect to a NAS directly and access/view files that way. The NAS is running some sort of UNIX and thus doesn't have the same issues that Windows is obviously having. I can connect via USB and ActiveSync works fine.
I've also tried connecting to a PC in the house that's running MCE edition and thus isn't on a domain. I've tried using the main username/password that I use to log in as administrator on that box.
Again, same thing - it just prompts over and over.
I'm familiar with setting shares up and setting security, but none of that is applicable because I'm trying to authenticate as domain administrator. I've also tried using local administrator but that doesn't work either.
The error I get is "Error connecting to resource: -1073741802". (Nothing in Google).
I recall some hidden registry setting that I once had to set on Windows Server 2003 to deal with unencrypted passwords, but I can't find anything on that now. I can't work out a google word combination that comes up with ANYTHING for logging onto a domain from a PPC. Frustrating!
Any ideas or experience in this? If you have please give specific settings where possible!
Thanks
Douginoz
There was an issue with trying to RDP onto W2K3 boxes from a Windows Mobile device - the solution to that was to set the administrator password to blank......not something you'd normally want to do, but it might be worth a try in this case just to see if it works?
Have you tried using an account with less privileges (but with share and/or folder permissions) to see if that works?? The administrator account, be it domain or local, has some special traits that are not always made clear - you could try a domain user account with local admin rights.....
Also, for your Google search, have you tried "clear text" or "plain text" as keywords - I have a vague recollection of the registry entry you mention, but I'm at a loss to remember it myself....
HTH,

PPC 6700 Unable to Map Drives

I have had the same problem with my PPC 6700 running WM5 and WM6.
I have installed the HTC Network Plugin CAB. I can see the servers on my network (all thru WIFI). When I select the server, it prompts me for my user ID, Password, and Domain (click save password). I click OK and it comes back requesting login info again and again and again.......
I have the same issue from Pocket File Explorer when I open a path to the //server/share!!!!!
I have a Dell X30 running WM 2003 SE and I can access all of my shares with no problems on the same network!!!!!
What am I doing wrong?

I upgraded my PPC-6700 to WM6 and could not access my shares. When I reflashed to WM5 I was able to access some of the shared folders i.e. small folders.
On folders with many files I got "out of resources" messages which seems to be a different issue.
Flashing back to WM6 and I get the same User ID/password/domain and I use my Username/password and get cannot connect error. I am on a workgroup and don't run a domain. I've checked my folder permissions and they are set correctly. I have searched all over and it seems many people have the same issue with WM6 but I have seen no solution. However since I have got my USB connection working with "Enhanced Network Functionality" I haven't been too concerned about connecting through the network shares.
Try doing it without saving the password. Works for me on WM6 connecting to a vista PC. It is REALLY slow. Once mapped, it works fine.

Confirmed working with WM6 and Windows XP SP2.
Thanks so much.

Accessing XP shares from WM2003

I am having a problem accessing XP shares on my LAN via WM2003. I was able to access them several weeks ago by using Total Commander. It prompted for the hostname and then for the username and password. I simply logged in as guest without a password since these shares were had full read access for all users. I was able to access all shares on my LAN for a few days until it mysteriously stopped working.
I deleted and added the locations again in Total Commander, yet it never prompted me for a username/password again, and when I go to the share, it simply shows a blank folder. This happens whether I am trying to access it with the hostname or IP address, neither will work. Sometimes I have received an "error 53" when trying to connect as well. I have tried using File Explorer and even Resco File Explorer to no avail. All of the hosts on the network show up in PocketLAN but I am completely unable to browse them.
Should I somehow remove the guest login information I originally entered when I was first able to connect to the share? Is there somewhere in the registry this information is stored, as I have been unable to find anything about it. From various message boards, this seems to be a fairly common problem, yet no one has been able to provide any solution for it.
I really am at a loss as to why this is happening. Can anyone offer insight?

HOWTO get Eduroam working

Some univeristies use a WLan called EduROAM.
http://www.eduroam.org/
But somehow HTC HD2 cant connect to it.Seems like a personal certificate is the problem.
Has anyone got this working on HD2 ?
It works on Nokia phones running Windows mobile 6.5
you need to download one of the latest version of securew2 client from your uni website or the developer's website. follow instruction to set up the connection given by your uni IT department.
I'm using eduroam connection now in UCL.
Thanks for your answer.
I downloaded securew2
But I still cant get it to work.
Do you have to provide this information on your campus ?
SSID: eduroam
authentication: WPA2
kryptering: AES
EAP-typ: PEAP
authentication: MSCHAP v2
For me WPA1 works better, also AES is wrong. Then you select "Secure W2" in the drop down box not peap. SecureW2 needs to be configured as well. Your university should provide you with that info. You usually don't need the radius part with the cert! That's just to protect you from connecting to the wrong network (and thus giving them your password).
Above information about WPA2 is from my campus informationsite.
After I made some settings on "Eduroam connection" i cant change them.
As soon as push eduroam it tries to connect.
The only way to change them is to install a new rom, so that the phone is
like it was from the first time.

ROM version ?
In my case,
I download SecureW2 personal client 2.04 ce, install it on my phone via active sync.
Settings>Menu>All settings>Connection>Wifi>Wireless networks>Menu>Add new
and start configuring the settings. Different network will have different settings.
I don't think ROM version matters in this case. It should work with your device, if you got the right SecureW2 client and settings set up on your phone.
Btw, IT department or university's website should provide sufficient information for you to set up the connection.
Good luck.
The IT people cant get it to work......
They say that they cant get it to work on HD2.
Thats why I turned to you guys.
Still no luck, secureW2 keeps asking for user/pass, and yes I know its the right user/pass. A friend at work tried his username and it doesnt workl either.
If I connect to Eduroam on my pc it works, so nothing wrong with user/pass

You might need to get another version of secureW2 client.
I tried a secureW2 client provided by my uni and i faced the same problem as you. It kept on prompting me for username and password. I changed to another client (SecureW2_Personal_Client_204_CE), downloaded from SecureW2 forum, and it worked great!
During the installation of the client, registration is needed, i could register and install it couple of times on my phone without any problem. However, yesterday when i tried to reinstall the client after upgrading my ROM, the installation failed at the registration part. Maybe because they stop providing the free version?
I managed to get it installed on my phone again via activesync though.
Cant find that version.
I downloaded version SecureW2_Enterprise_Mobile_313_GA_TRIAL.exe
bump..
I still cant get it to work

Chalmers University of Technology uses Thawte premium server certificate for authentication.
What you need to do is this, go to Thawtes website and download their certificates:
(Apparently I cannot post links, but just google for "thawte root certificate" the file is at www dot thawte dot com slash roots)
The certificate you need is located in the folder Thawte Roots\Thawte SSLWeb Server Roots\thawte Premium Server CA\Thawte Premium Server CA.cer
Download that to your HTC HD2 and install it by just clicking it in the file browser on your phone.
Then you can just follow the instructions you found at their webpage.
Hope this helps.

how to connect to EDUroam
Firstly, this refers to connecting an HTC android phone (specifically the HTC Desire, but what I get from the web is that they are all much the same, these HTC android interfaces).
The problem starts when an innocent user looks for a WiFi network and finds eduroam. It then asks for not particularly relevant password information and cannot connect because the configuration of the default network setup is wrong. If you try to get the phone to forget that network it appears to do so that when you reconnect it still assumes that the connection was correctly set up. In order to get it to forget their network properly you have to enter the wrong password several times so that the phone thinks you have illegally trying to access the network. It then completely forgets.
The network discovery procedure will again come up with EDUroam, and the configuration should follow the instructions on the following website from Oxford University: <search for android eduroam oxford in Google>
In fact the names given on the HTC desire setup are slightly different. The important thing is that the EAP type should be PEAP, and the secondary type should be MSCHAPv2.
You then enter the username which will be effectively your registered e-mail address at your own institution, and then use as a password the thing eduroam calls "network access token" (16 lower case alphabetic character password generated for you if you buy your institution on request.
You then connect up and miraculously you have the connection you wish!
You should check that the connection is mobile roaming capability on your phone and checking that you really do have Internet and e-mail access as you wish through the WiFi connection directly.
I have been looking for the SecureW2 Personal Client 2.0.4 for Windows CE package (original filename: "SecureW2_Personal_Client_204_CE.zip"). I have been unable to find it and the sources given in this thread no longer exist or are no longer available.
If anyone has the file, please provide it.
