just thought i'd share this since I had to pack it and upload it for a friend anyway.
unzip and place in Storage Card and run mdict.exe
Library> Search All
includes:
\DICT\ 2 dictionaries (edict is a eng<->chi dictionary-remove as necessary), 1 thesaurus and Wikipedia offline (edition unknown)
\FONTS\ Traditional chinese fonts (have not been able to get them to work. just del the whole directory if you don't need them)
MDICT is a free dictionary from http://www.octopus-studio.com/product.en.htm
It is not my work. All i've dont is collect a few database files and packed them into one package.

how to change the ppc system language in wm5? like transfer tranditional Chinese to simplfied Chinese or Korean to Japanese.
we have to replace the fontbase, but what else i need to do ???
Basically, there are two ways:
1) Install a language pack (if you can find one) which includes MUIs (interface translation files) fonts (if needed) and keyboard(s) (also if needed). Sometimes it also contains a replacement for wince.nls which contains other language specific definitions like date / time / currency format and calendar.
2) Get a ROM in the desired language (if the manufacturer has one) and reflash.
or doing 1 by making the language pack one self
think the packs at buzzdev.net are don by users
I want do it by myself, the developer will not realease that.
Now my purpose is to transfer WM5 English version to simplified Chinese version,so the fontbase must be replace,i dont know what file i need, and which folder to put these files in.which part of the REG i have to edit? i have the simplfied Chinese for wince.nls, and simplfied Chinese fontbase for ac3,but i dont know how to do it.
My goal is not only support simplfied Chinese,i want whole interface of the system are running under simplfied Chinese, please tell me how to achieve this?
Well here are the basics:
1st all the files go under windows.
These are the files you need:
*.ttf - all the fonts you want supported on the system (usually tahoma and courier new)
.xxxx.MUI - these are interface files (menus and dialogs) where xxxx is the LCID number (no idea what it is for Chinese but there is a list somewhere on MS site).
If you can get a ROM dump (you can even use TestWM5.exe by mamiac on this forum) you can use resource hacker to create MUIs in your language. It's fairly easy.
Sorry I don't have the time right now to find all the links, but a quick google search should do it. Also look for posts by asukal on this forum. He did a lot of work on language packs.
Good luck.
LCID for Simplified Chinse is 0x0804, or 0n2052. I'm Chinese...
Please ask so, how to do inside the ROM that then can wrap language to integrate to the equipments, substitute its language?

Wikipedia on the go with Mobipocket!
Hello,
I use the Mobipocket e-book Reader which can be downloaded for free here:
http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/application.asp?device=WindowsMobile
And the Wiki-Files can be found here:
ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/wikipedia/mobile/ebooks/
Some infos for all the possibilitys for Wikipedia on the go can be found here (in German):
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Unterwegs
After installing Mobipocket there will be a folder called "ebooks" created in the Phone Storage.
I have moved the Folder to the "Root Directory ("\") of my Storage Card.
In this folder you have to put the "e-Book files"!
So Mobipocket should detect the e-Book files with the Standard Parameters after installing! (I didn't have to edit any Parameter in Mobipocket!)
Works great for me!
one more question.
I downloaded a *.tgz file 1,4 Gb do i have to unpack that on my sd card in a special folder ?
greets
Look up StarDict and MDict
How can I easily select and delete xml language files which I will not use from a manila set (app. 1000 files)?
You can open all *_manila files with EditPad Lite! I've deleted with this little cool app near about 600 language relatet files! Now I have a cleaned TouchFlo3D with only EN-US (basic language, must be present!!!) and DE-DE!
Language files have a lang="XX-XX" line (where XX-XX is you lang code), so you can easily search for such files!
Thank you very much, happy new year...
Yep, that's right! It's currently in testing at the moment but it already comes with root features available as a toggle-able option! If the development continues i think it could rival root explorer imo!
For those of you who work regularly with busted computers you will no doubt know that the PC application is invaluable when backing up files!

On the most recent versions of Kindle Android app is fairly simple to change the standard dictionaries with custom ones. One simply has to go to Android -> Data -> com.amazon.kindle -> files, find the filename associated with a certain language and give it to the custom dictionary.
For instance, I want to replace the German standard dictionary that I never use for a custom ENG-POR dictionary: I simply rename it to B003YL4LVQ_EBOK.prc (German dict filename), copy it to the com.amazon.kindle folder replacing the existing file, delete the bookmark file (B003YL4LVQ_EBOK.embp), restart device and it is done. Hence, when I'm reading a book, I just need to click on the book icon on the definition window and change to German to have access to my ENG-POR dictionary
On Kindle 3.2.0.35, the one that works on Nook Touch, it's a little different and requires more steps:
- it is not possible to change dictionaries inside the app, you're stuck to the standard one of each language;
- the dictionaries files are on folder Kindle (main root), with the rest of the e-books;
- besides changing the filename to B003ODIZL6_EBOK.prc, it' is also needed to change ASIN and other metadata. For this I use mobimeta editor
So, I wanted to replace the standard ENG dictionary for a custom ENG-POR that I've purchased on Amazon. I've changed it's filename to B003ODIZL6_EBOK.prc and edited with mobimetaeditor the following metadata criteria to match the standard one. To simplify, I'll list what I've edited:
1. Language:
Language: en (9)
Dictionary Input: en (1033)
Dictionary Output: en (1033)
2. EXTH Records (maybe it is not needed to change so many fields, but it worked for me this way):
100 (author): leave blank
101 (publisher): Oxford University Press
113 (ASIN): B003ODIZL6
503 (updated title): The New Oxford American Dictionary
504 (ASIN): B003ODIZL6
Save in the end (sometimes it is needed to press the button more than once).
I followed your steps, but it does not work out. But you directed my way, thank you!
