Hello Everyone,
I am in the process of creating a suite of elements for a next-generation TF3D ROM. The ROM itself is currently in development, but there is an application that I need themed to the ROM. Secondly, a brand new Manila theme will need to be created to spec.
Basically, here's a high-level overview of what is needed:
1) A specifically themed G sensor calibrator to replace the app shipped with the Diamond/Diamond Pro/HD units.
2) Highly customized TF3D elements, which would include a specific clock and icons, as well as a major change to the way these items are displayed on the home screen.
I have no illusions about the amount of work involved in this enterprise. This will take some commitment on the part of those who volunteer. I can't offer much (my ROMs are freely distributed), but you will receive credit for your work in the ROM itself, and, after a short period of exclusivity for my ROM, you will be able to offer the items you design independently in any manner you see fit.
If this sounds interesting to you, or if you have comments, please let me know.
Anyone interested?

Hi guys. I see a lot of "finger friendly" contact managers apps theese days.
Which API are you using ? I'm planning to work on it for sms reading and any help would be great.
Hi,
Personally, for contact manager, I'm working on ... my own framework, but that's mostly to allow decent performance and animation effects.
Basically it's a composite pattern, every control is based on LightControl base class which provide basic interraction and drawing.
The drawback of this approach is that text input control are rather complex to do, the big advantage is that layout, drawing are free are control aren't tight in a specific shape.
What are your requirements?
Hi, I'm working on .NET 2005 (usually VB but I also have knowledges of C) and I'm developing for a Prophet and a Trinity
yes.. but what are your requirement regarding the framework? what do you want to do that classic winforms won't provide you?

I would like to propose the open-source development of a new program for Windows Mobile theme changing.
Themes are very popular. People love to personalize their mobile devices. Many ROM cookers will create their own themes that are implemented across a variety of included applications. Unfortunately, themes for third party applications cannot be defined or changed from within Windows Mobile’s native “Today” Control Panel Appearance tab. There are completely different methods of changing the Today screen theme, Media Player theme, and Phone dialer theme. Then if you’ve got some HTC applications in your ROM, there are yet other methods of changing the HTC Home Plug-in theme, TouchFLO Cube theme, Comm Manager theme, SIP keyboard themes, etc. The possibilities are endless.
I would like to propose a standard unified way of changing the look on all of these applications as well as future applications.
The program could be similar to the HTC Home Customizer where users would select named themes to be applied to specific programs, and the software would copy the proper images/files to the proper locations. The difference would be that there would need to be a way for users and 3rd party developers to interface with the program in order to let it know where its new theme files are supposed to go. Maybe there’s a master XML file that lists application specific XML files which include image/file location information.
Anyway, I think this type of program would be extremely useful both for power users and beginners who want to easily customize the look of their device and apply different themes to their applications from a central location. However, I’m not much of a programmer at all, so I am seeking help from the community.
I’ve started a project on Popfly called “WM6ProThemeChanger”. If you search for that name using the Popfly explorer, you’ll find it. Also, you can add me as a friend using “Adamz1977”. I'm not sure if that's the right way to do this, so if anyone else has any thoughts, feel free to post 'em.
I guess we should start be creating a central list of locations and filenames for various theme-changing image files for the variety of applications we all use. Any thoughts??

That's a great idea!
I have installed Poorlyduck's vista theme for the cube and if you look at his thread, not only did he worked hard at making the theme but he had to help out a really big bunch of people who had a hard time installing it.
Hope this works out!
Are you looking for this to somehow have one file type that contains all of the necessary files, or some sort of "it reads what it can from a folder and copies them where they need to go" style? I guess I can't picture what your goal is...

Click to collapse
The "it reads what it can from a folder and copies them where they need to go" style would probably be easiest, right? That's what the HTC Home Customizer does I think. Plus, a lot of applications might need text files, GIF, PNG images, and maybe even a DLL to be placed somewhere in order for the theme/skin design to work. The Media Player skins need a SKN text file. I think the phone dialer needs a DLL sometimes in order to change its skin.
I just think it's too difficult for us users to figure out how to change the theme/skins of all these great programs. If you know any one who might be able to help with this, please send them to this thread.
Hi all
I've been reading this forum since I bought my first WM device - Touch Diamond so thanks for all of you for contributing, developing great apps, cooking roms etc. So far I have been mostly reading, as you see this is my first post, but now I would like to offer you help.
My interests and hopefully soon education too are related to User Interface design, so basically anything related to the topic of making a good, user friendly interface. So far I have been reading and analysing a lot but I haven't got a chance to design a real thing (designing interfaces for imaginary applications is not really the same), that's how I came with an idea to help you guys developing your apps. I'm not a programmer, I'm not a graphic designer so I can't help you with coding or ready buttons or skins but I think I could help you with design itself, ie. how to organize options, choose the right symbols for icons, use buttons of the right size, colour & in the right place, minimize the number of taps needed to perform frequent operations and so on and so on. It involves too many aspects to put them all here. Generally I would like to try to help you make your application user friendly and easy to use.
Do I ask for something in return? Well, yes. If you decide to use interface designed fully or mostly by me please give me a credit for that in some "about" window or a readme file. That's it.
If any of you would like to give me a chance I would be grateful and did my best to help the best I could. Please PM me with any questions or offers.
Many thanks
Pawel
Hi,
I was wondering if a Location Based Reminder Software would be a good idea to develop if it doesn't exist, i didn't try to search much for such software, while i always love to develop simple things my self (they will be free ).
what do you think? should i go for it?
any specific features should i include in?
Awesome idea - has commercial potential as well.
Besides that perhaps look at integrating with Notes - e.g. Shopping list and "grocery store". I sometimes put notes in as I go, so with keywords, your app could be running in the background and if set up, will pop up with the "grocery list" or something like that.
Nice, so let's get it on.
Commercial? no, at least not for the first couple of versions. let's do something good to the world
Project Location Based Reminder for Mobile
Started the project "Location Based Reminder for Mobile" on codeplex
as a start i will be using the built in tasks for storage.
LBRM V0.1:
- Uses windows built in tasks.
- Locations Based on Categories.
- Reminders assigned to a location category.
you can access the project from here
http://www.codeplex.com/LBRM
Note: This Application is still under development and it is not functional at all.
Please don't attempt to install on your device.
Note: Access Available only to members participating, if you want to participate in testing kindly let me know.
Note: This application is provided as is, no warranties or support. i take no responsibility of anything or any damage done by this software or any part of it.
What is the status of this project? I checked the link but couldn't find lbrm there.
Hello,
I have 'created' (to an extent) the first Horizontal Theme , based off of the built-in CPR file, for Titanium Homescreens on WM6.5, however I have a setback...
This theme is being developed initially, and probably mainly, for the T-Mobile DASH (HTC Excalibur/S620) which as a 320x240 screen. In order to make this work, i need a very simple background program running. This is what the program should do:
Detect a certain set of pixels on-screen, and check to see if colors match up with predefined values (much like MortScript's "ColorAt()")
If the values match up, swap UP/LEFT and DOWN/RIGHT (to emulate horizontal movement)
likewise, if it detects that the active window is the Desktop/Homescreen, it will Swap
If not, it will not do anything
This program needs to be low RAM usage, and not all that big (which is optimal for every program). The reason I have it check pixels is for people, like myself, who run SmartToolKit , which adds a 'mask layer' over the HomeScreen, making it harder to detect if it is actually the homescreen. If someone can create a better way of doing this, then thank you!
However, my main concern is getting a coder to make this application for me, without it the theme can essentially not exist. More details will be given upon contact.
If you are interested, please PM me or E-Mail me (both are provided by XDA through my profile).
Thank You all!
I am going to work on the actual theme today...
Is there anyone who could make this very simple program for me?
Hey,
I dont know if this is considered 'double posting' since these posts are weeks apart...anyways.
I am in DESPERATE need of some kind person to lend me a hand as far as making really a simple app. I do not have the environment set up for making Windows Mobile applications (i do not have Visual Studio as microsoft insists I do). The app would be:
1- ButtonSwap:
This one will check certain pixels on the screen and use them to confirm if it is the HomeScreen. If it is, then it will swap keys, if not, it wont do anything.
So PLEASE, if someone is willing to do this VERY SIMPLE task, i would be very very grateful!
Sincerely,
Max B.
