Updating weather data - Touch GSM General

I have an T-moble Elf and would like to download weather data for HTC Home
via Activesync or at least define the time interval defined by the existing "automatic download" option.
I am on a prepaid plan and really only want to download daily in any case.
Other than installing another weather package, can anybody help me?
Thanks

HTC Home Plugin: Weather (HELP!)

Hi everyone, I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer to this...
I'm using the HTC Home plugin which is great but I was wondering which internet connection the Weather tab is using to get updates on the weather...It refreshes the weather information when my wireless is turned off...is it going through gprs, tzones? I cant find any information on how to control how frequently it updates the weather information...is there a way to only limit it to wifi...i dont want to rack up a huge data bill....any help would be much appreciated!!!

Auto update
Click on the name of your city. Then go to "menu" at the bottom of the page. Click "weather options". Uncheck "download data automatically". Now you can manually update when you have wi-fi.
Or you could install and older version of HTC home. There is a glitch in the weather tab and it can't update through GPRS at all.

HTC Home Weather Problem

I have HTC Home on my wing, and for some reason it like never updates on the screen. It's always saying attempting to download data. Once in a while it will actually update and display the weather. I have the HTC weather option enabled in S2U2 and it seems to display there just fine. I also have my Data connection set to always on with Schap's Advanced Config.
Help me please
Do you have a true data plan or are you using a proxy? If you are using the proxy that is your problem. A proxy connection for some reason will not read the xml data properely and you get the continuous attempting to update data.
i have the unlimited dataplan, no proxy
Hmmmmm it should work for you, which version of the plugin are you using? You might wanna use HTC Home 2.1 with the n2a cab.

[Q] Simple software to automatically disable GPRS/UMTS data while roaming?

Hi out there,
searching for a while now. Found nothing, but CommMgrPro which is way to much.
I search for a simple software to automatically disable GPRS/UMTS data while roaming and enable it back when logged into my provider again.
Would be nice to have more than one "home" provider.
Any hints? Thanks and happy holidays.
the simplest way is change your mobile while roaming
i was surprised that my htc touchpro activate
data communication automatically while i
had disactivated data com before.
Modaco NoData
Thanks. At least a simple way to enable and disable.
My problem is that i live close to the boarder (germany/france) and that i flip into roaming here really fast.
An automatic solution is needed very urgend.
Locking to my provider is ok, but the htc asks me what provider to join, when back.
All that sucks.
I cant believe that there is no solution.
Is CommMgrPro able to handle that?
Nobody?
Nobody else who got this problem and nobody who got a solution?
Is CommMgrPro able to handle that? The documentation is bad.

Maybe you can PM danielherrero.
He's the creator of CommMgrPro.
I am very interested in this as well - and from my searching seems a lot of others would be interested in an automated system.
My network provider automatically roams to another specific provider when in a non-coverage area (small pockets within metro areas and rural). The problem is that the data cost when roaming is ridiculous. I use Push Email for work and while on roaming want GPRS access to be disabled until I am connected back with my provider.
I've installed NoData by MoDaCo which is good but this requires the user to remember to enable/disable GPRS.
*EDIT*
I found exactly what I needed after a more searching - Wombat's PhoneRoam Script (Stay Connected to High Speed Networks Only). Will see whether it does the job

I agree to have more that only one network provider. Here in Belgium we can subscribe to Vodafone passport that enable to use "free" of charge the data on any Vodafone network, but when I go in France it switch to other provider and in that case my push mail is expensive... I'm also in the boarder of France.
So basicaly :
1/ A very very simple prg that disable the data automatically if roaming.
2/ A version 2 that would put all permited network provider even if roaming.
Thanks
This thing exists for the iPhone. Its a simple switch in the interface.
You can select "Data-Roaming" on/off, thats all.
Where is it in WM?

Modaco is fine but when you are at the border is quite difficult to follow your carrier and disable data time by time...or even remember you are switching to another country after few km and you always have one app trying to connect (Tomtom, weather, opening a mail...)
Modaco it's what I use actually but let me forget stressing an unwanted roaming data connection...
a+
Used NoData and application is still able to connect...
Hi,
I switched off all data connections in the registry (using frost Advanced Config, than also tried NoData) and in general windows mobile apps aren't able to connect... but I have a one third party application, which is somehow able to ignore that and connect even when the data connection is toggled to DISABLED...
Any ideas how to REALLY disable data connections (for roaming)...
here is the automatic solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503131
this will automatically disable ALL data in roaming and re-enable under home provider without any user configuration - nothing to toggle

am going overseas is there a software or setting to prevent data totally?

as above.. i dont want some google maps or weather refresh to kill my wallet !!
any program or tweak to totally disappear data no matter how often programs call for it?
much appreciated
Search this forum for an application called NoData.
Airplane mode?
Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503131
Airplane mode disables everything
oh...since im using prepaid services, is it a must to install the nodata tweaks?
aren't there any data on/off selection under the default settings on the phone?
that is to say, if i did not off the data connections, the phone will automatically engage gprs or sort to update weather and maps which will in turn kill all the credits in my prepaid without me realizing? that's scary...
bsb tweaks let's you disable data connections. Just tried it and when trying to establish a connection it gives me an error telling me it's not possible to go online.
so the tweaks works in another words? i will only be using wifi to go online with hd2..

'Dedicated' Internet setting for mail in cooked ROMS (for Telstra HD2)

Hi Rom Cookers,
I flashed to Atremis Cooked ROM (do not like the Telstra ROM and all the BS that ships with it) and noticed there is a problem, which I suspect may exist on most cooked ROMS that are built on stock ROM's.
The Telstra devices ship with two kinds of 'Connection' settings, Dedicated, and Internet.
The 'Internet' setting is for stock standard internet, whilst the 'Dedicated' connection setting is for people that use Telstra's plan which includes 'free MS exchange mail syncing, etc'. The problem in my case is that when under a dedicated plan, but using the internet setting, I get charged ridiculous rates for using mail and internet. And in the cooked ROM's, there is no setting for 'dedicated'.
Does any chef know how to restore this setting?
Any help would be much appreciated, keep up the good work
Thank you.
EDIT: Just so everyone knows exactly where to find this setting, (it's kind of hidden) you get to it like this:
Start > Email > Menu > Options > Tap 'Outlook Email' > Click Next through the settings screens until you reach the 'Edit Server Settings' screen (this displays 4 checkboxes with 'Contacts' 'Email' 'Calender' 'Tasks' > Press Menu > Press Advanced > Then you will see 3 dropdown menus, last menu should be 'Connection', drop this box down to see your options.. It will likely have just 'Internet'. Telstra ROM's have 'Dedicated' and 'Internet'...
I need to find out how to restore the 'Dedicated' setting
Thanks again to anyone who can help!
Anyone, please?
Can anyone please help with one?

Let me know if you find an answer to this please. I can add this dimension to the problem: if you take a standard Telstra $80 plan, you get 600MB data included. But if you go for the MS Exchange add on, they charge you an extra $20 pm and REDUCE your data to 100MB. I use around 300MB per month browisng the internet (and a lot less through Activesync for MS Exchange). In other words, on the standard plan, the 600MB would be fine. But because of the reduced data allowance, I have to pay an further $20 for a 1G data pack, resulting in me paying $40 pm extra. If someone could tell me that Activesync works well on a standard plan using a stock rom, that would be great. But the posts I've seen suggest that once you flash with an non-Telstra rom, there are problems with Activesync.
when you hard reset a telstra stock rom (or when you first get it outa the box) does it go through a network setup stage during first boot? (my euro one did) cos if so, its probably a small app rather than hard coded settings, and then you could dump the stock rom into a kitchen and extract the networksetup and make it into a cab? maybe? (i'm no chef)
Might be a hassle, but either flash back to stock and/or find another person with a HD2 that wasn't flashed, load up a registry editor, and go to:
HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Providers
and poke through there.
To give you a reference, on my phone, under guid 7c4b7... I have a folder connections that might be helpful for you.
Further down, under guid ef097f4... there are more folders which might be useful.
Thanks guys I will check that out and report back, my boss is the only one with an HD2 so I'll need to grab it flash the stock and the Atremis (for example) ROm and compare the differences. Cheers for your replies.
Hi salada2k
Did you manage to get the settings?
My drop-down menu shows
Telstra Broadband
Telstra Enterprise
Telstra MMS
Telstra Internet
Work
The internet
Argento,
What is the apn shown under Telstra Enterprise?
Hi Guys,
I have two Telstra HD2's with Dutty roms on them, I use Telstra pre-paid on both.
I am having an issue with my exchange and IMAP accounts. I think it is a related issue as my data works fine in opera but I can only send &receive when connected to WiFi. when I do try to send/receive on data i get a connection error message, interestingly I get the same message if i try to use data with Skype or an app called "known food".
I would welcome any assistance.
