Changing softkey to "Call History" ~Please Help! - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have downloaded and installed a softkey manager that works. (SoftKeyAppletEx)
I just cannot seem to find where the call history exe or lnk is located.
Where does the Call History button take us to when the phone app is running?
Searched to no avail, by the way.

I'm trying to find out the command for it. I am sure capp.exe is called with some parameters on commandline.

Please let me know what you find out...
I have posted on another forum as well. If they post anything helpful, I will post it here as well.

1. Create a shortcut key to \Windows\LaunchMSItem.exe w/ "CALLHISTORY_ALL_CALLS" parameters ( I think you have it w/ yr HTC home). You can do it easily w/ Resco Explorer or the hard way below:
a.Create a text file and name its as "CallHistory.lnk"
b. 49#"\Windows\LaunchMSItem.exe" CALLHISTORY_ALL_CALLS as it content
c. put it into yr phone (e.g. /Windows)
2. Then the registry as follow
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2
"Open"="\Windows\CallHistory.lnk"
"Default"="History"

auto launch app

hi. somewhere here i read about an autolaunch app. do you know any? thanks,
If you make a shortcut to any application on your device, and put the shortcut in the \Windows\StartUp folder, it will load whenever your device boots up - don't know if that's what you were after, but I've not heard about an autolauncher app recently (or if I have, I've forgotten )
thanks! but.. how to shortcut? with total commmander or file explorer i can't do it.
The quickest way I've found is via ActiveSync (you put your files onto the device via ActiveSync, which is the quickest way, and then go onto your device, click Copy, and then go to where you want to put the shortcut and choose "Paste Shortcut")... See this page for full instructions (with screenshots): http://www.pocketpclouisville.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6
I copied the layout of some existing shortcuts on my Alpine when I was playing about making new shortcuts... They have a particular (simple) format. I made a new blank text file on my PC, and put in it,
20#"\Program Files\Folder\ProgramName.exe"
Click to collapse
(where Folder and ProgramName refer to the actual app I was linking to).
I saved the file as
ProgramName
Click to collapse
(with no file extension) and put that on my PPC, and it worked.
Interestingly though, all the shortcuts I looked at in Notepad had different numbers before the #\ section - I don't know whether this is to indicate CPU priority when the device is starting up, or if that's the entry number of the shortcut on the device's registry, but the shortcuts seemed to work.
ActiveSync creation is certainly the easiest way, though.
in my
I've downloaded and installed WM5 NewMenu (http://ukaywares.blogspot.com/2006/03/wm5-newmenu.html) on my device, and once I've figured out how to add a new option which allows me to directly create a new shortcut (there must be the right command switches listed somewhere!) I'll post the info up. Don't hold your breath for that though, the above method works great on both WM2003SE and WM5.
thanks done! i'll see if it works

Changing Quicklinks on homescreen

This ist probably a stupid question, but I just couldn't find a solution.
How do I change an already existing Quickling on the homescreen? The same question is also valid for the contacts screen.
Once I have defined a Quicklink on the Homescreen there doesn't seem to be a method to change it to something else, I couldn't find it anywhere in the settings. And touch-and-hold doesn't do anything eighter.
So if anyone knows the solution please post it here.
Thanks

Remove quick links
Try "Menu" (lower right corner) -> Remove quick links ->tap on the one you want to remove -> Done -> you're done
found solution (sorry)
Okay that works.
Thank for your help.
I'm also having Quicklinks problems.
I can delete/change the ones that point to programs but the last row of my Quicklinks point to my top websites (ie; Bookmarks/Favourites) and if I use the normal method to delete them it doesn't work! Has anyone else found this, or a solution?
What might be the issue is that I've installed a cab to increase the number of Quicklinks from 9 (3x3) to 16 (4x4). Could that be causing this, as in a stock HD2 that last row wouldn't even be there...?
Many thanks!
You may certainly use a *.cab which has modified the number of quicklinks on home tab, and which doesn't work properly, isn't ?
You can :
- uninstall this cab
- sof reset
- delete quick links
- install back the cab
- soft reset
Then it's ok.
I realise that this is an old thread but I am a new owner of an HD2 and still finding my way. I have done a search and this is the closest thread to my issue.
Just like ugotamesij I have 16 quick links on my home page. My probem is that I cannot remove an unwanted quick link by using the menu button option to get rid of it. The link that I am trying to remove is to the Excel Mobile program.
I would like to remove the .cab file that gave me the 16 links and then re-install it but I do not know how to remove the .cab file from the SD card.
I have located the particular file using the file explorer and deleted it from the list on my SD card but the 16 quick links still appear on my phone after a soft reset.
Can someone assist please?

you can use the registry editor to remove the links -
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home
There are keys marked with 0..9 (or 0..n)
each item is a shortcut on the home page.
there is a value called "IsExist" set it to 0,
and set all the other tring values to empty.
If you only want to re-order the links -
you can use the app in the following link

Som30ne, thank you for the reply and link.
I am sorry to reveal my ignorance but I do not know what your instructions mean. I have never had a windows mobile phone before and have never attempted any tweaks.
This registry editor business sounds very interesting but sadly, it's like a foreign language to me.
If you have the time can you break it right down for me or point me to a "how to..." guide?

To edit the registry I use TotalCommanderCE,
it's free, just google it.
After you install it, run it, and click on the [\] button (top right of the screen)
double click "Plugins"
double click "Registry"
and then go to the path specified (HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\. . . .)
go to each of the number folders and double click the values to edit them.
After editing - exit the TotalCommander,
and hold the power button, and select "power off", than turn the device back on,
so the new values would be loaded on bootup.
I hope it's clear enough.
Enjoy.
(BTW: if you are not sure - write down any o the value you changed,
just in case you need to restore the values to what they were before)
I feel as though I'm on the right path but require a little more help.
After a little further research I installed PHM RegEdit and using the directions provided by Som30ne have found the entry in the registry that relates to the offending quick link (Excel Mobile). It is next to a folder with the number 9.
The path is HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\9
What do I do to simply remove Excel Mobile as a quick link?

there is a value called "IsExist" set it to 0,
Then click save Then reboot
I don't have a value named, IsExist". I can see;
IsNeedRefresh
IsReadOnly
IsSet
IsSet is the only one of these that has a value other than 0 (the value is 1).
Any ideas?
Can anyone help?

I dont understand - what do you mean it is near the 9 folder ?
There cannot/shouldnt/isnt any quick links near the folders.
The quick links are defined inside the folders.
Inside each of the folders (0 . . N) there are several entries - one of the entried is called "IsExist", and the others contain a path to a program link, and a path to the program icon.
Thanks for you patience.
I finally found the value IsExist and changed it from 1 to 0. I saved my change and then did a soft reset. Sadly, The quick link is still there and resolutely defies any attempts to remove it.
Is there something that I have missed or is there another way? If all else fails I can see only two choices;
1. Perform a hard reset and start again from scratch or,
2. Leave the quick link where it is and learn to live with it.
Any other ideas - PLEASE?
I am fairly new to this registry editing myself, but I also had this problem.
Using the good advice from this thread so far I have managed to get rid of the quick link from my 4x4 quick link grid.
I just looked at the registry values for an empty link and entered the same values for the one I wanted to remove. I then did a soft reset and it seems to have worked.
Thanks for the support speaky05 but I managed to get the required result by simply un-installing the .cab file that gave me the 4x4 grid and then re-installing it.
I don't know why it didn't occur to me sooner.

Sense Shortcut link not usable after deinstallation of shortcut p

i have the following Problem and hope some expert might be able to help.
I have the 5*5 shortcut-matrix installed on my Sense-Homescreen. I always use SK Tools to uninstall programms and let it do a "deep scan" after the uninstallation to get rid of any rubble in the registry.
This was the first time i uninstalled a programm which had a shortcut link on the sense homescreen.
Unfortunatly, now i have a dead link. When i press on the link, it tells me it did not find the programm named "" (the name was obvoisly removed by SK Tools). Thats quite obvois, as i uninstalled the program.
However, when i want to remove the dead shortcut (direct link) and replace it by another, it wont let me. The other shortcut links work quite fine and i can remove or replace them.
I guess i have to repair something in the registry, eg. give the link back its name to the program - but where? If i knew before, I just would have removed the shortcut link before the uninstallation...
Can anyone help?
go to registry: hklm/software/htc/manila/home and there u have to find where the shortcut of the program is located and delete it

suggest word(s)

hi
I am sorry if this has been asked before (but I did search)
Is there any way to add suggest word(s) when typing in text, I have to type the same sentence over and over again every day and on my old phones/PDA this was not to bad as you could set the suggest word(s) to give you the next 4 works, I can't find this in the HD2 is there any way to add it
Thanks for any help
according to hint 19 in this thread:
19. Improve Suggested T9 Dictionary With Custom Words
The Leo has a very useful hidden application in the Windows directory. You need to unhide hidden system and Rom files in order to find it. Find the file "eT9MyWords.exe" in the Windows directory and add a shortcut to this file in your Windows/Start Menu folder.
When in the application, add the most common words you use when using the keypad such as names, locations, user names, email addresses and other words not common in the standard T9 dictionary. For example if you are based in London, UK you could add the following locations:
Leicester, Piccadilly, Tottenham, Soho, Charring, Euston, Trafalgar, Clapham,
and words such as BRB, DVD, coz, lol, xoxo, [email protected], ciao, etc.
Click to collapse
I have read these tips and know about adding custom words.
What I want is for three to four words to come up to complete a sentence.
This has been in the input tap on old PDAs suggest word(s)
Hi
Is there no one Who can help with this?
Really with all the clever people on this site can no one help me
Please someone help me
Hi, i did a few tests and found...
et9mywords wont accept spaces, and although you can sneakily paste sentences into the input box, it wont save them, so that method is out.
Custom words are also found in HTCMDB.txt, and the good news is it works!
(See image)
The line 'this is a test' i hard coded into the file using my kitchen, then the 'this is a second test' i added as follows....
(I use resco explorer, i suspect the normal file manager wont do what is required, total commander probably will)
find /windows/HTCMDB.txt (it will be hidden, so show all files)
copy it to your sd card, and from there to your desktop.
(I tried editing it on the phone using windows mobile notepad, but it didnt work right)
On the PC, right click the file, properties, and untick 'read only', apply.
Open it and edit it as required.
Save it, and again right click, re apply 'read only'
Copy back to your sd card, and from teh phone use commander or resco to move it to /windows/
You will probably get a warning about rom files and what not, thats ok.
Reboot, and you should now be able to see your sentences.
PLease let me know how you get on.
EDIT - just for clarity, every entry inside HTCMDB.txt must be on its own line.
thanks for your help with this I have done as you posted and it works, it's a bit long winded but it works
thanks jason

[Q] Awful Save dialog box - need folder tree

Hi all
I'm sure this has been discussed on the forum, as it bugs the hell out of me and I suspect many others, but I could not find the right search words to find it.
Please point me in the direction of known thread (if exist)
Problem:
Saving to a USEFUL folder.
In most of the applications it uses a useless save dialog box, that only goes 1 layer deep of folders.
I save everything on to my SD card, and as a home windows user I am used to having directories for everything to keep them organised.
at the moment I have to save in /Storage card/DOCS/ then use total commander to move it to the correct place. to open a file I then need to use total commander again to find the file then open from there.
An awful set up.
Is there any programs or hacks that change that dialog box to a folder tree based dialog instead of a 1 level dropdown?
or ever a multiple of dropdowns would work?
Please help - this is driving me mad
G
Hey, I too hate the standard windows mobile file dialogue, but I remember finding a freeware alternative for my old phone (TyTN II) which I still had lying around on my computer. I can't remember where I got it from exactly, its called gsgetfile.dll and there's a little control panel applet to go with it. I've attached the dll to this post, just unzip to the /Windows directory on your phone. Then install File Dialog Changer, enable and voila!
EDIT: Found the site, http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=752
Thanks for that
I searched xda for file dialog changer and came across this thread:
FDC
I shall try it and hope it doesn't mess up Faria ROM........
Thanks for the suggestion
Damn! must be how Faria made her ROM. I copied the 2 files across and it made no difference at all.
Then I noticed the option in the control panel to turn it on - Doh!
