Hi to all
I had problem with QuickGPs on my Blackstone (it didnt start anymore), so i downloaded quickgps.cab from this post but now quickgps says error after running it so i think this version was not for blackstone intended. Could anyone post for me original files and settings to get up and running QuickGPs without troublesome hard reset ?
Thnx in advance
I've noticed that rom Cookers include quickgps-es in their roms - would someone include one here ?
Ive helped myself and read that i need those files:
\Windows :
CleanGPSData (exe?)
CleanGPSData
GPS-icon (icon)
gpsapi
GPSAux
GPSAux.dll.040C
gpsdriver
gpsid
gpsid_HTC
mxiupdate_PA... (4 files)
QGPS_BUT_L (icon)
QGPS_BUT_L2 (icon)
QGPS_BUT_P (icon)
QGPS_BUT_P2 (icon)
QuickGPS
QuickGPS.Exe
QuickGPS (Htlm file)

I have zipped all gps packages from the oem folder of my 1.19 rom. I will attach it here, just tell me if something is missing. Don't worry about the provxml files, just take the files you need and copy them into \Windows.
But I'm wondering whether a hard-reset would a better solution.
Johnpatcher thnx very much it is working now - the quickgps is starting but i get cannot connect try again later if i try to download gps data - so i am thinking could anyone post the registry settings from a working quickgps blackstone and point me what software is the best to registry editing to change it properly ? If it will work ill describe it to help anyone new with problem like me so we will help each other out
I have uploaded the oem package(s), because they already contain all needed registry data. You'll find the data within the rgu file, for QuickGPS it is:

I'm using Resco Registry Explorer, but thats totally up to you.
However, I'm asking you again: What did you do in order to destroy QuickGPS so massively? Why you don't just hard-reset your device?
1. Quickgps stopped working i thought it was software issue so i downloaded a version mentioned in post #1 - after installing it i finally found that one must delete the xtra.bin but it was already too late.
2. Hard reset will require installing all the software again and for now i got no time for it.
3. I want to invent some workaround method for all the community - for about one year i was only a reader and I got many helpul posts from the forum so if I can help someone - why not
Can i import all the settings to the registry by copy/paste somehow without manually rewriting it ?

With the right editor you can simply import it.
There are really many (free) registry editors out there, just search for them. I think an import function is a basic operation, so it should be included in most of the editors.
All files copied using Resco Explorer - even those he shouted that are in the rom file and registry imported (by the way I recommend ceregedit - one can change registry from desktop Pc - very handy), and still i get quickgps cannot connect try again later - any suggestions - am I missing something ? I switched also the AGPS feature off - should I turn it on ??? What does it do ?
I thought that an original xtra.bin file from windows directory might help - could someone post most recent one ?

Hi guys,
Question....does someone maybe know the registry settings to enable the mms folder in WM5?
Sure I know I can use a cab for it, but I am trying to find out what registry settings are needed to enable the MMS folder without installing the CAB file.
I am looking for the specific settings for a HTC Wizard, but settings from another HTC phone would be a good indication to start (I hope).
Regards, thanks and to all a very happy new year (of developing),
Molski
One of the CAB files I posted (I think) had it in it.. And I know I've seen the keys around here somewhere.. Unfortunately, I don't have an 8125 any more though, and I'm not quite finished with poking around my 8525 yet (planning on unlocking the ExtROM today so I can start deciphering CAB files).
I'll let you know what I come up with from the 8525 perspective.
I found your CAB file and I extracted it.
Unfortunately the same results as I have with the T-Mobile MMS Folder cab....it doesnt work
I install the CAB file, the MMS folder shows up, I export all the MMS Registry settings, do a hard-reset, import all the Registy settings and no MMS folder showing up.
I think it has something to do with the following registry values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\EntryID]
"Deleted Items"=dword:00009F00
"Inbox"=dword:0000F79F
"Outbox"=dword:00005FBB
After a hard-reset and installing this CAB file every time the values are different??
Could be. I'm honestly not too sure. But whateve reg values are in that CAB I've used over countless resets.
I'm getting ready to walk out the door in a few minutes, but when I get to my buddy's place I should be able to sit down for a few and look at the CAB and see what's in there again and go from there.
Take a good look at the values I posted....I really think it has something to do with those values changing every time you install the cab after a hard-reset.
Thanks!
Molski
Which CAB file are you using? I see a couple that I've posted.. Want to make sure I'm looking at the right one..
Beside having the MMS Folder to appear, I think you should have a service provider cab in ExtRom to configure to the right Service Provider's Server or you have to manually key it.
I am not sure if Wizard is the same.
cab files like mms folder and contain the values of certification on them it cannot be integrated so far, i tried, when you install a cab like mms, it writes several numbers to the cert part of the registry, once you install another cab that contains cert values ,it just overwrites the old values .
this is why the service providers never integrates such settings.
all this values that the mms cab writes to the registry can be found in the .XML file ,but must of them are build in the setup .dll ,the dll is coded with a set of instructions ,and this are the one that enable mms.
lets say you manage to extract all the reg settings for mms,then build into a custom cab this is all fine,but now you also want to integrate lets say..smardialing,well u cant because when you export the reg settings from one it overwrites the other because they use the same address in the registry.(cert}
I already have integrated SmartDialing in the default.hv and it works, will install a few cert apps and check if Smartdialing still works.
The only thing that is giving problems so far are:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\EntryID]
"Deleted Items"=dword:00009F00
"Inbox"=dword:0000F79F
"Outbox"=dword:00005FBB
I checked every settings that is created by the MMS folder Cab, but only these settings will change after installing the CAB.
But after reading your answer Faria, I think we cannot create inbox folders for whatever via the default.hv, is this true?
Thanks,
Molski.

Smart Dialing working?
When?
How?
Where?
Please tell us.
These registry values are included in default.hv and/or user.hv
And it works
Maybe I forget something, but test it and let me know!

yes smartdialing works .i did it a month ago....but mms no.
once you put the cert settings for one of those cabs into the default hive its fine... but if you put another cab settings from another program into it,it gets overwrited .

Hello All,
Is there a way to strip an installed application from a PPC into an installable .CAB file, if one has lost the installation files/DVD, but still have the application installed on the hand-held.
Thanks in Advance.
Not really.
You can always copy the files out (if you can find them all - some may be in windows folder or places other then the main app folder) but you still would need to know every registry key the app requires.
If you use sktools it tells you all the files installed and registry entries. You could then extract all the files as levenum said and make a cab including the registry entries.
Hi lev
ahh..hhaa !

My experience with SKTools makes me cringe...my ATRE would not stop rebooting until I remove the SD card(where SK Tool was installed and remove it completely.
What software do I need to make a .cab file ?
I will still make all efforts to attempt this anyways....
Ive had no problem with sktools - i always install to main memory. If you manually make your cab then use cabiwiz - or use a commercial app like wince cab manager. Which program are you trying to put together?
cabiwiz enclosed inc example app and tutorials
Funny thing - I was replying to another thread with similar question stating that there would be a problem finding out all the REG keys.
Then jackleung posted about a tool called "ssnap" that supposedly can take an image of the system.
Comparing an image from before and after installation should show all the changes a cab makes.
Since I am not personally familiar with the tool I can't say any more about it.
As for cab creation - while I use cabwiz my self, it is a command line tool and you need to know ho w to write inf files for it.
For a beginner an app like WinCE cab manager will be more comfortable.
It is a shareware, so it will stop working after a while unless you pay but it is very good.
P.S.
Hi Mark
Hello,
I'd like to introduce new registry editor CeRegEditor for WindowsCE, WindowsMobile
It works on desktop PC but operates on PDA's registry.
Main features:
- keys/values create and edit
- fast search
- export/import keys to/from REG file
- create "image" registry with compare and restore service
- free for private and commercial use
- registry compare to CAB or REG files
- open REG/RGU, CAB, HV as regular registry, with all edit functions available
...and many more
link to web site: http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl?lang=en
link to software: http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/ceregedit_setup.exe
It is still during test period, but basic features are well tested and stable
It is Polish software but with english interface
edit
If You find any error in the application or mistake in English interface please send an email to [email protected] or write it within thread
nice one! thanks!
It looks very nice! thanks
Hi!
Thanks a lot! The compare service makes it even easier to build OEM packages when kooking ROMs. Great software!
Regards,
PK
nice app.
good tool, many of cookers want to edit the registries using the PC
Nice software I have one suggestion: since this works on the desktop, one feature that would be neet was that if we install a CAB, it detects what's changed on the PPC, regarding the registry. That would be great to know what are the registry keys needed for the instalation of OEM packages!

You can use compare tool embedded into CeRegEditor.
First, create registry image(Images->Create image or F2 key) and after cab instalation perform compare registry, Images->Compare registry. It will show only differences/changes between the image and the current registry
I hope this will be useful for You
Great Work
Great work, sounds cool...thanks !
Yes, very thanks so much!

New version 0.0.2.2
+ added UNICODE support for export/import data to/from REG file
+ fixed header in REG file. The string in header changed to REGEDIT4. Previous string was not compatible with some other registry tools (WinCE Cab Manager)
+ fixed format of path to directory/file in REG file.
...and some minor fixes
Thank you, I was using Mobile Registry Editor to edit registry directly from Desktop but your app look nice
New version 0.0.3.0 available
Some fixes and new features!
Now, compare tool handles CAB and REG files
So, it is possible to compare registry to CAB file or REG file, CAB to CAB, CAB to REG, REG to registry image, etc.
It's possible to check what changes will be made by CAB before CAB instalation
Update details: http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/index.php?id=4&lang=en
Download: http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/ceregedit_setup.exe
cool... I will check this out soon.
@mdziedzic, curious how you are implementig the cab compare function... are you just looking at reg entries stored in the cab? Cos sometimes the complicated ones involve self-registering dlls and setup.dll files that make reg entries also. Prime examples of this are voice command, mark all as read, and some SPB apps. For those we always have to do a reg diff before/after cab install to see what the setup.dll did (or see the self-registered dll additions).
I have been wondering if it's possible to write an app that examines a setup.dll to see what reg entries it would create. So far I don't know of any way to do that other than reg dump->install cab->reg dump->compare.
Anyway your app will be very useful! Thanks for your hard work.

I think it is not possible! Each developer/provider creates it's individual setup.dll for CABs. Each DLL could has different structure (written in C++ or Pascal). Trying to "decode" setup.dll will be always "guessig"!

IMO, for CABs with setup.dll or exe instalators it's the best metod. In CeRegEditor, just create registry image (F2)-> do instalations-> compare registry with image(F3). After compare You can save differences to REG file

I particularly like the little status monitor...nice touch.
It would be great if you could also map registry files from a dumped rom. This way you could easily extract registry settings from other phones without the need of the actual device. At this moment you still need the phone.
is this possible
Hi all, (appologies for the typo in the subject should be 'getting an annoying error' ! Doh!)
Wonder if anyone can help me on this little issue I'm having!?
I've set up a CFG.txt file that I want to run with all my apps / games / **** in, but I'm encountering an unusual error at the beginning of the process (luckily I didn't add the Lock at the beginning!! ;-) )
Here are the first lines of the CFG
**************************
SHOW:\Storage Card\CABS\custom.bmp
XML: \Storage Card\CABS\WWE_Vista_Device_Center.xml
XML: \Storage Card\CABS\MMS_Folder.xml
XML: \Storage Card\CABS\MMS_Account.xml
XML: \Storage Card\CABS\WindowsUpdate.xml
CAB: \Storage Card\CABS\A2DPToggle.signed.arm.CAB
**************************
This is then follwed by a list of all the rest of my stuff, which has all been worked on and had all the interaction messages removed (still some little positioning errors with files, but that's something I can eventually work out!)
The following error comes up 4 times when it runs AFTER the custom.bmp is shown:
**************************
This file : \Storage does not exist!
**************************
Any Ideas Folks??? Is it something to do with the XML files - 4 files, 4 errors? - if so, why? and how do I get it to install them? Is it possible to create a *.cab to install them? I've got a trial copy of CE Cab Manager!
I'm using 'Pandora PreConfig Launcher' that I found somewhere in these forums (will also post this query to that forum page, too)
Managed to get rid of all the rest of the interaction in the list - just this stopping me now!! Any and all help MOST appreciated.

May be you need to change folder everywhere from CABS to EXTROM in your cfg.txt
Though of that, ...but...

The reason it's in CABS is to do with the Launcher - it has a sample config file with it, and aims the launcher towards the CABS folder and means that I can run this cfg without having to hard reset each time - thought that I could iron out any errors with the config file before having to hard reset.
Think I've got a workround, will try this evening and let all know - it seems that it's possible to insert XML commands at both pre and post stages of a cab using CECABManager, so I'm going to try and embed the XML into some of the cabs that they relate to and see if I can't get it to bypass them - presuming, of course, that they are the things causing the issue!! As I said, I'll let you know.
Bird
Your feedback will definitely enlighten others.
Final solution
OK - first off, adding the XML as pre and post script in the cab files worked a treat! WINCE CAB MANAGER is certainly the way to go on that score, so anyone looking to add XML to the start of a CFG should go look for it - 30 day unrestricted trial
BUT ...
I worked out another solution that suites my needs better really:
two apps:
SPB Backup
SPB Clone
As I install my apps I'm creating a backup each day, then adding some new apps and testing for the day - any problems - use clone to go back a day!
Once I have all working, then I'll be able to use backup to gather the PIM info once a month, use the (clutter free) clone to put my BA back to it's just finished install state and use backup to add any recent PIM back in!
VIOLA! constantly clutter free solution! and no need to keep entering in your passwords n' stuff
Don't know why I didn't think of it before - it's exactly what I do on my PC!! DOH!
Bird!
Does anybody has Resco Explorer in ext package?
Tried to do it but i miss resco registry and resco ftp.
Thanks!!
What exactly do you want to get? I have it (selfmade).... But it's free for sure....
One more thing - I use OEM regular structure - not EXT (For OsBuilder). It's a normal package - with rgu and dsm.... Registry is a separate cab - you should add it to the package. FTP is a part of explorer - just added features.

Well, in Resco site there is one cab for all the subprograms that are included in the resco 2010 8.10 version.
It is this cab I tried to convert to ext package.Everyrhing works except registry function.
Thanks anyway.
Attached is the app.reg (renamed to app.txt because of forums limitations) file that I use for Resco Explorer with FTP and Registry plugins added.
I didn't clean it up so it also contains the keys and values for the options and settings that I prefer having.
For future reference, I had the same issue as you at first then I used a tool called Kheb to monitor the registry changes that happen when I install cabs and customize everything. Kheb can also make diffs between different registry snapshots and even generate OEM packages based on such diffs.
I did apply your REG file, but Resco Registry not work yet, the problem is a SETUP.DLL in to the Resco Explorer CAB, it contains a secret instructions and I believe that is impossible to open it, anyway I saw some cooks with Resco Explorer and Registry in their ROMs, it's obvious that they know the secret.
I also want to know.....pleaseeeee

Make the package with cab to package software (there is in all kitchens) and then replace the reg and app.dat files with the ones attached and cook it.Works for me.
The idea goes to MusicMonk but his attached file doesnt work for me.
Just use Kheb like MusikMonk suggested; it will capture all of the reg keys that are installed by the setup.dll. You can also look in the setup.dll with notepad and probably see the keys that are installed.
If you're trying to backup you registration info, it's stored in a file in \windows called wmtrigger.dat. All of Resco's registration codes are stored in that file, so if you have several of their apps, that's all you need.

I did apply your REG file but not works for me, anyway thanks for your help, mate.
I made a CAB file from the original Resco Explorer CAB, I deleted all files except SETUP.DLL and later run it and VOILA!!! the Resco Registry works !!!!!
Unfortunately I don't need it, I need the secret instructions in SETUP.DLL, I did open it using UltraEdit but I can't find nothing.
try this it should work, but your still gonna need the code as this is not cracked
Thank you, mate, but I found the secret reg keys in the setup.dll file. I used CeRegEditor to create a registry image, later install the cab with setup.dll and I created a image again, and finally I compared the first and second image to detect the differences.
I made a new reg and all works now
Thank you very much mates
fully working resco explorer package
Fixed some shortcuts added rtoday plugin, resco update, task manager that was missing and ftp in previous packages and is attached below.
Of course it needs the usual registration process.

The registration code is in the wmtrigger.dat file in windows folder which is created after registration.
So you have to copy this folder after registration and put it in your kitchen.

All Resco products write registration to one file It's well known for ages and it's no need to discover anything. So if you decide to use several resco products - you should install and register them all and then save the summary wmtrigger.dat - it will be one for all installed Resco-s..... And for sure - system User name should be the same for all your roms - it's also fixed in that file...
One more tip: if you occasionally decide to use cracked resco products - you will get a conflict if you use for example one legal and one cracked program simultaneously in one rom. So better use all registered.

You can use sktracker in your phone.
This program traces the changes in registry and files so if you create a snapshot with the program and then install or register applications or change the options and user settings in applications (you better do it program by program) you can easily find the changes and apply them each time you change your rom.
I apply all mods with sashimi but there are other choices also.

This program traces the changes in registry and files so if you create a snapshot with the program and then install or register applications or change the options and user settings in applications (you better do it program by program) you can easily find the changes and apply them each time you change your rom.
I apply all mods with sashimi but there are other choices also.
Click to collapse
I used to find the registry part of any cab or software by saving the registry and comparing the one before and after with the help of registry workshop on my PC, but did not know that there exists a utility with which wmtrakker.dat"" type of new file creation can also be found out.
Thanks a lot bro!!!
It's very good
Does anyone know how to backup Resco Customizations ( e.g ToollBar Shortcuts etc ? )
