When phone goes into sleep mode screen off i have to use the power button to turn back on.
How can this been done by mapping the down volume key button to awake the phone?
what software will do this?
JM
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
"DefaultKeyLock"= 0
restart。。。done
Interesting!
With this tweak, does the HD wake up on any keypress?
Is it possible too wake up when you touch the Screen?
take the styles out
I was also wondering about this too. Is there a way to wake up just by touching the screen. Having to press the power button and then unlock the phone is one step too many.

Hi, I tried this but did not like it, as it comes on with the Volume screen and makes a sound, unless there is a way to fix that.
Cheers

It'snot working
I can't find DefaultKeyLock in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd

Hi All, I have owned a lot of HTC phones and now I have the HD, its the first time I see HTC phone with such small, thin, and hard to press power button !!
especially in the dark, I cant press it and wake up my phone easily !!
I MANAGED TO TWEAK MY HD and now I wake up my device pressing the volume button, but again I have new problem : sometimes when I carry my phone the volume get pressed by mistake and the ringer get muted or low and I miss some calls !!!
Any solution for this problem so I can wake up my phone from the standby without pressing the microscopic power button !!
Take out the stylus and insert it back again. That wakes up the device. Otherwise you might want to search for a G-sensor enabled "wake-up" application. "Shake_it_to_wake" so to speak...

How can you use it to wake up the device? I don't see that option in the description, except the default stylus in and out...
...
I guess S2U won´t help you with waking up your device but if you use volume buttons it will protect you from accidental muting your phone.
I found power hard to press, too, but then I looked closely: This power 'button' is indeed non-symmetrical - at least on *my* device: it stands up a bit on one side, the left side, which is closer to the middle of the HD. So I press it *there*, because obviously enough that's the place where the sensor is located. It works easy every time.

Ducasito. Good observation. I wondered why sometime it was easy and sometimes hard. So the slight non-symmetrical button is not a manufacturing fault but a very subtle design feature. Now I know which side to hit. Thanks
Seems all HD's are different OR I have a very heavy finger.
All I need to do to get it to wake it lightly touch the power button and it comes on.

I suppose it is just a matter of "where" you push the button. Just push it on the left edge (where the small led is placed) and you will not need that much pressure to switch the device on or off. The button sensor is actually under that left edge. the picture shows the powerbutton part (picture taken from the HTC Touch HD service manual). Under the left edge of it is the sensor, so putting the pressure there is the best way of pressing the button

You can use AE button plus. I use this to convert my volum buttons to up and down buttons on single click, select/ok on double click, and volume on hold and press.
Thanks for your answer but I´ve a further question:
Do you "wake up" (from standby) the blackstone by using this AE button? I tried to use this software but I couldn`t wake up the Touch HD from standby by using the volume buttons.
I know that I can remove the stylus to turn on my HD but is there any possiblity of using the dial button or home button to turn this phone on?
it's driving me nuts
no
no, never, no possibility
There is a registry entry to wake the HD from sleep at least by pressing one of the audio controls on the left. Maybe someone can quote the correct setting for it.

The home key and such aren't real hard ware buttons, the software determines their response, so if the phone is locked I'm guessing that software wont be operational.
What's wrong with the power button?

Is this to wake up the phone when off? if so that's what I'm looking for. I also need to use my volume buttons as volume buttons though. Will this registry change alter anything?
MOD EDIT
Move to general discussion as not related to Themes, Applications and Software
Hi All
Anyone have a fix for getting the key mapped (in Nitrogen) HTC side volume toggle to work with the screen off..?
It works OK with the screen on, but going to blank screen while listening makes it cease to work. I am using v1.2 Alpha 4, all else seems to work well (apart from the shuffle-play repeating some tracks).
Oh, locking keys in the general settings produces a message "your device has no key lock support".
Any insight appeciated.....
Cheers

Anyone at all....?

Really...
I have a stock 6.5 SEA ROM, with Alpha 4. I have mapped the volume (side) toggle thru the options and it works just fine, with the screen ON.
Turn the screen OFF and it does nothing?
So, does yours work OK with the screen OFF..?
If so, i need to perhaps grab another copy and reinstall, or.........
Cheers

they will work with the screen off if i press the sleep screen button on nitrogen (the power looking button).
if i press my hard power button to sleep then i dont think the keys work

Oh OK, thx for the info.
It seems mine doesn't work like yours for some reason, my mapped volume buttons do not work when activate the blank screen button on the Nitrogen Player...?
I think i will reinstall it and see if it changes.....
Later.....
Tried a reinstall but no change for my device, the volume toggle still does not work with the screen off??
Cheers

I hate it that the shift wakes up either with the power button OR the volume rocker. I always bump the volume every time I pick it up, then have to go to the power button to turn it back off. Such a bad idea. Any way to disable the volume rocker from waking the phone?
The volume rocker doesn't wake up the phone, I just tried.
Sliding the keyboard partway out will wake up the phone, AND bypasses the lock screen, which is a really poor "feature"

My wife's evo shift wakes up when you press either the up or down volume keys. Anyone else experience that, or is ours one of a kind?

Mine doesnt do that either. That would be a def battery killer if it were to happen in your pocket all the time. Make sure you dont have the backlight timer too high or that might become an issue.

On mine, when I slide the keyboard I still have to enter in my pattern pin.

I do not have a pattern pin or code set. Mine will wake on slide.
Mine doesn't wake on volume rocker though.
My phone does this. I have the lockscreen disabled because I i hate that extra step. My phone will wake up if I press the volume rocker. I wish I could disable this
back when i had the mytouch4g we had a mod/hack that enabled us to remap the "genious" button in to a google search option.
i was wondering if we can remap the volume buttons to wake the xoom up or just simply enable the volume buttons to wake the xoom.

However, you do not get a lock screen anymore.
Wait for custom roms, most have this kind of feature

Yeap.. I use NoLock because I don't feel I needed that lock screen anyways.. hehhe a byproduct of its use is that the volume buttons will also wake the Xoom

You could always turn off the lock screen in settings without this program.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
yes

Oh gosh.. haha couldn't do that on my Captivate so honestly didn't even try on my Xoom. thanks. Also seems that turning off the lock screen in settings still makes the volume buttons wake it up.
no lock doesn't always work for me. the volume buttons wake it right when it goes dark, but if it's more than a few minutes, the volume buttons won't wake the xoom.
is there a solution for this. I love my xoom and the power button is the only think i would change. I have it flat on a desk a lot.
