I have big problems when i speak in the phone, almost everytime i hang up a few apps have started. Is there a way to deactivate the touchscreen or something when a call is active?
Simply press the power button to deactivate the screen.
Am I missing something?
I always had this till I realized you could turn the screen off during a call. I have a few programs installed, Inesoft being one of them. I believe it's that which auto turns my screen off when I accept an incoming call.

Thanks, that sounds great. I will check it out!
XperiaTweek has an option for this too afaik
please correct me if I am wrong, but i think the Xperia default setting is that the screen IS turned off during a call!
Xperia Tweak offered the option to switch this off and leave the screen on

Think you're right
Do you know the registry key behind this?
if someone can make a program to relate the light sensor with the screen off, coz when am using my BT headset i dont want my screen to be off and when i dont use it i want the screen to be off, so if has a light sensor we should utilize it saying "during a call when u see light dont go off coz it means he is using BT headset otherwise screen is off" or if we can know from BT activity, again a program saying if ur using phone then off is ur using BT Headset then dont off"
regards

Wouldn't it be easier to tell x1 not to screen off when using a Bluetooth headset? or when wired headset is plugged in? But you idea sounds cool too.
it would only the application that does that requires a restart switching between options which makes it a bit inconvenient

I mean X1 does it automatically with my idea. ??
Wouldn't it be easier to to write a program for X1 to know when there's a bluetooth/wired headset connection then mess with the light sensor?
But either would be cool....if possible.
My X1's screen is switched ON by default when I get a call. Its pretty annoying actually.
FURTHERMORE, I've got a password lock on it. So if I speak longer than 5 mins (thats the limit I put for the password), then when I end the call, it asks me for the unlock code before I can see the today screen again!!
Can someone tell me if there's a solution to this??
Thanks

Am sure that i have seen this somewhere but i searched to no avail.
When making a call the screen will still turn off, which means if i want to do anything during the call i have to push the power button on the side of the device to turn it back on to hangup etc.
Any Ideas ??
I thought this was a good thing. The screen turns off in order to save the battery. If you want it back on you just tap the power button and do whatever you want to do. If it stayed on for entire phone calls you would end up with very short battery life.
However, there may be a registry edit that can lengthen this time or make it stay on for the entire call. I just wouldn't recommend it.
For me, hanging up works when the screen is off. I think.
thanks guys, i just came from the phone world and i suppose i want my PDA to have the same battery life as the old nokia, but i also want all the cool pda features.
Just not going to happen.

it does, just carry a couple of extra batteries and you're set. Now the question is would you trade this for that?

Funny thing is i would carry the batteries. I got off ebay and ordered for my boss and myself car kit, batteries, and docking station with battery charger. So for the time that im not @ my desk or in the car we should be set.
Mine doesn't turn off during calls, but i do turn it off manually with the power button so my ear doesn't open apps during the call.
Mine doesnt turn off either, is this a rom specific or am i missing an option somewhere, at the moment i press the power button on the side when i make a call, cos im forever pressing the screen and opening stuff, then have to close it all when the call ends, let me know what im missing out on
Neil.
I WANT my screen to turn off when phoning..
How do I set this up?
Hey,
I think this is the same "timeout" that you have set for your screen to turn off in the powersave feature. I haven't looked, but I think it only turns the backlight off, not the screen.
Unfortunately the hermes screen is hard to see AT ALL when the backlight is off. Some past devices I had, you could still READ during daylight.
HTH
ok i find it funny that nobody thinks that it is anoying as fk that the screen turns off if you are calling say to activate a card or any automated answering service and need to type numbers in you dont have access to it ..so I guess I will re ask the question is there a reg hack to make the screen stay on while in a call any help would be nice ty

you should follow the steps in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3227589&postcount=5
Every time i call someone, when they answer the call the screen turns off.
If i want to end the call or do anything else i have to turn the screen back on before i can press end.
Is there a way to stop this happening?
I have tweak_HD and changed all the settings on that but it still does it.
You have a soft key down to the right for ending calls. The screen turns off so you can stick the phone between your shoulder and ear if you must do something with your hands while in a call and thus not click something with your ear or face
The same problem.
Tweak HD did not resolved this issiue. Any other ideas cause it's relly annoying from mu point of view
already discussed
this is aproblem discussed many many time, is an energy setting. with HD tweak i think you can solve problem. but when you are in a call and screen goes to sleep tap on the on/off button of the blackstone and your screen retake from sleep.

I belive we're looking for solution which doesn't involve any buttons
The best solution should be to use the "light sensor" to turn on the screen soon as we remove the phone to our ear
I have heard that S2U2 (freeware) automatically turns the screen off when a call is connected and then automatically turns the screen back on when the call is disconnected. If you want to use the screen during the call, you need to slide your finger on the screen to unlock it.
I'm not sure if this directly addresses your problem, but it might be an option to try out. I have never used S2U2, so unfortunately I cannot confirm what it can and can't do or how well it does what it does.

So, I will publish a new version tonight with this and some other minor corrections.
Don't forget to ckeck it via AppToDate (thanks again Paul, for this great neat app).

from Tweak HD thread
Well, we will check it in the evening than
has anybody ever experienced this before?
while talking to the phone, your ear is pressed against the screen hence accidentally touching the screen with your ear and doing unwanted tasks
i have tried lowering light timer and;
pressing the on/off button once to turn off the screen
i find this a big problem for me, its an inconvinience, anybody has got any solutions for this?
thanks
use xperia tweak (use search function)
There is an option to urn screen off during calls
im using xperia tweak 2.0
all i see is
"disable screen turning off during calls" wouldnt this be the opposite of what u want?
I keep my screen on during calls and my cheek does not press any buttons, even when touching. Maybe your cheek bone or ear is too pointy?
lol actually its the clock button at the windows bar is being pressed on and it changed itself to analog/digital
Eh?
Standard behaviour is to switch the screen off during a call. So unless you changed it, why is your screen on? I wish this worked like y iphone and siwtched as you put it to your head, then screen goes back on when you pull it away during a call.
Same for me, my screen has never gone off while calling. Same by enabling and disabling the feature in Xperia Tweak.
I read somwhere that R2 changed that behaviour in opposition to R1..

agreed, even the nokia 5800 comes with the proximity sensor feature...
Just made a hard reset because of lots of beta software testing, I reinstalled only my very needed software, and the screen turns off like expected during the calls. I am in R2.

but thats all i have bene doing now...i was hoping for an app to fix this
I was wondering if there is a way to disable phone's screen when voice dialing number or when answering phone call.
I've an BT headset on my motorcycle helmet, the phone is in my pocket while riding ; the problem is that the screen is activated with every incoming/outgoing phone call and the screen is inadvertently pressed executing silly actions.
I'm looking for a solution without having to install a permanent screen lock as in all day life, having to switch on the screen and then having to unlock it every time I want to use my phone is boring.
So has anybody a solution ‘cause I’ve written a beautiful note during my last hand ree call.
Hi,
In S2U2 app there is option in power settings where phone locks up at talking when using BT.
I guess that it works for you.

Just read TICST User Guide, I seems to exactly match with my needs with its 'switch off for BT' feature.
I'll give try it shortly.
Thanks
I realise that this is quite a useful function, but for me, it's troublesome, especially if the call doesn't get through, and I am sent to voicemail. You see, I believe that either my light sensor or my proximity sensor is not functioning properly. When I accept a call, call someone, the screen goes off, and doesn't come back on till the call ends, or I take out the battery and put it back in.
I'm sure this is a hardware thing, as I've tried installing Android, and the problem persists. I don't really want to spend money fixing my phone, as I can't really afford it right now. So, back to my question, is there a way to make sure the screen doesn't turn off when I'm calling someone? Is there a registry tweak or something? Or is there a setting I'm just not seeing?
I'm using pdaimatejam's WP7 version 8.1 (I think) ROM, if that makes any difference.
Thanks!
this is normal operate, not error... screen go off for reason you not break call when phone too close to ear with touch... but when you move phone from ear screen must turn on again....

When you accept a call, its a feature of Windows to switch off the light but sometimes it never comes back and you are stuck at "no display". I also face the same issue. Its the ROM bug. I'm also using pdaimatejam's WP7.
Don't worry... Your phone is fine
Also had this happen twice. But then I disabled the feature to turn on the speaker when the phone is turned during a call and it didn't happen ever since. Not sure if that's really the cause, but you could give it a try.

As I've mentioned, my phone light doesn't come back on when I remove it from my ear. This cannot be normal. It can't be normal that I have to reseat the battery after every failed call.

Yes I did.
I have the same problem as you, although I have not tried flashing android yet but that is my next step. When on a call screen goes off and never turns back on.
I use bluetooth headset so I can kill the call with it and screen comes back thankfully. But I can't delete voice mails or use the screen at all during a call. ON Pdaimatejam's 8.5 rom.
We don't have a fix for this yet?
for me its oks.. if the screen is off it may touch your skin and could end the call...if you remove the phone from your ear and would like to use the dialer while still on the call, the screen powers up automatically..

But that is just it, It doesn't power up automatically at all. It stays off no matter what you do untill you actually end the call! be that pull the battery, other person hangs up, or you use Headset to end call..
What rom are you using?

im using the latest from pdaimatejam. even the older 8.5, once i removed my phone to my ear, screen turns on even the call has not ended..
Would really love a fix for this also.. I must admit though that i don't think it is a hardware issue.. Nevertheless it could be fixed with a regedit or something like that.. Can't really use the phone anymore

Seems that the light sensor is broken, it's the little point in the upper left corner of the phone. The only workaround I see is to use a headset (BT or cable). With this you still can hang up any calls.
