hi all,
i was wondering if anyone knows how to get my accessories folder links back....(calculator, file explorer and search)
i installed spb mobile shell 2.0 (not the free spb panel) and after installing that and a few other spb apps i noticed that the accessories folder is empty in standard windows mode (when not running the spb skin), but when running the skin or panel its got the links on (calculator, file explorer and search)
does anyone know a way to get the links to appear in the standard view without doing a hard reset??
any help would be greatfully appreciated as its taken me over a month to get my xperia just how i want it with the software i need etc...
P.S STICK TO THE FREE PANEL - its better than the SPB mobile shell they want you to pay for. the shell slows down the phone and doesnt look anywhere near as good as the free panel.

This is just your opinion...
There's a trial period so everyone can try the full SPB mobile shell out without paying. Very simple.
I think the SPB panel and SPB Mobile Shell both are great.
It's all just a matter of taste really.
I've used both and I currently use the full Shell and I have never had my phone slow down because of mobile shell.

Was just over at Handango and saw that the Sbp Mobile Shell and Pocket Plus were two of the best selling programs they have. Yet a search of the entire xda forum gives back no hits. Does no one use this? The shell seemed like a pretty good looking interface.
Mobile Shell versus Pocket Plus
So far I think the general trend is to towards Pocket Plus as Mobile Shell is still on version 1.
I use pocket plus and so do quite a few others on the forum. It's very customisable and a good piece of software.
So far Mobile Shell is lacking in a lot of areas and while it promises to be a good interface I think it will take a few more versions.
There is a thread on it somewhere.
You're searching wrong if you're getting no hits on "Sbp Mobile Shell". There are several threads.
However, remember that XDA devs ironically borks at search keywords <= 3 letters. (ie SPB is not a valid search term)
Ergo, try google:

I use SPB Mobile Shell. Some bits of it are nice. Some are useless or eye candy only. Give it a trial! It's technically a nice piece of work, and will improve your productivity. You have to decide on whether it's worth the price.

mobile shell IS quite nice. I use it with Diary and GPRS monitor. could use some refinement but it works as a today screen.
SBP software
I'm a big fan of SPB stuff.
I use SPB Pocket Plus, SPB diary (which work well together) and SPB finance.
I've trialled some of the others - the phone suite is good, but not as good as phone alarm...yet. I'm hoping it does improve as it was the first version.
Have also tried SPB mobile dvd and SPB backup - both work very well too - they'll be next.

I used to use SPB programs as well, Mobile Shell is quite nice... of course there are much more advanced and skinnable today plugins than SPB today plug ins so I dont use them anymore..
I use MobileShell and PhoneSuite on my 8525
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/htc-hermes-cingular-8525/211777-my-setup-log-my-cingular-8525-a.html
Found a couple of applications that I find to be critical for the way I use my Hermes 8525. and thought I'd share plus start a thread on this topic.
PocketNav - http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff/pocketnav.zip is a handy application that replaces the X button with an button that allows you to see running apps and close most of them. I've had better success with this then the HTC X-button app though it won't close everything.
Fast Access Menu - http://www.pocketpccity.com/software/files/FAMdistr20i.zip is an application that sets up a launch bar similar to Windows where you can launch a lot of applications with a single button. A little difficult to set up but worth it.
I loved PocketNav in the WM3 days. Now that little lightning bolt just doesn't look right up there anymore. It also seemed to crash if I tapped on it while at the owner information screen was on after just turning it on.
There's a new x-button app floating around here somewhere whick you should look at. It's nice.

• Spb Shell
• TomTom 6
• Resco File Explorer
• Pocket Informant
• Spb Backup
....IMO.
Mine would be as follows;
--Battery Pack Pro
--Opera browser (midlet); much faster and more user-friendly
--Photo Contacts Pro
--BandSwitch (from Daniel Herrera)
--Cyberon Voice Dialer
IMHO
SPB Mobile Shell
SPB Insight
SPB Diary
TomTom 6
Opera Browser
1. SPB Phone Suite
2. SPB Mobile Shell
3. Anton Tomov Pocket Mechanic
4. Octro
5. Nine Hole Golf
These were the first ones I put back in after a ROM change.
Has anyone used 'Sentry 2020 for Pocket PC'? Any issues with it on the fly encryption or creating/using virtual volumes?
Any other similar software out there? Not the Resco File Explorer app. I'm looking for something more like truecrypt or pgpdisks in function

Try cryptostorage
SPB Mobile Shell is at the top of my list and if they ever incorperate now screen configurations and a way to use it completely instead of the today screen it will truely rock.
FreeOTFE4PDA

Even better - try FreeOTFE4PDA (www.FreeOTFE.org). It's open source, and has much more functionality
I've read a lot about skinning for Mobile Shell, but what i never found is a today screen (or theme) which combines mobile shell and pocket breeze.
i'd love to have my appointments, tasks and birthdays directly on the mobile shell today screen.
have you ever heard, that someone tried to do this
any links or ideas ?
thx a lot
Hi All,
Which do you use? SPB Pocket Plus or SPB Mobile Shell? (or both).
I'm looking to get one, and both look good... but unsure which is better to go for!
Cheers,
Amnesia
Hello!
I use them booth!
u can make in MobilShell a tab for Pocket+!
this is great, so u have two plugins with more choices!
if u want i´ll post my today screen!
U also can use the plugins from MobileShell in Pocket Plus!....
Hi Amnesia,
I use both, Mobile Shell primarely for the different colour schemes and the nice foto contacts screen,
and Pocket Plus so you can place icons on you Today screen from witch you can get to all applications
on your device.
Greetz ....
i have both, but i prefer pocket plus. mobile shell is 1 of my panels so i can use that anytime. i prefer pocket plus because imo i feel theres more customizability with that.
last week i found a way of running the panel and the full app at the same time, only the theme gets messed up, has somone a solution for this?
- install spb panel
- backup the MobileshellPanel.dll + four bitmaps
- install spb full
- restore the MobileShellPanel.dll and the bitmaps
(you can extract the files from the mobile panel cab with MSCEInf)
has someone a solution for the theme?
At the moment i'm using Pocket Plus cause of it's flexibility (add plugins from other programs as a tab), but SPB are about to release a new version of Mobile Shell which looks amazing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2AOukFSz5o
Apparently due out sometime this month maybe next. There's another video around with someone from SPB demoing it on a phone which looks even more impressive.
Hi all,
Currently, SPB Mobile Shell 3 is developping well, a thread is about all tricks is available HERE
But, as you can see, there is still some lack of usefull things... like Album viewer, Music player incorporated... I remarked there were an easy way to go back to the TODAY place...
That's why i am asking you this question:
What program is for the best to run with SPB Mobile Shell 3?
#1 Win 6.5 Titanium, which ROM and why?
#2 Win 6.5 Titanium, using WM 7 project
#3 Win 6.1, new start menu, which rom and why ?
#4 Win 6.1, old start menu, which rom and why?
#5 ROM isn't important, just configure well the today, explain it to us!
#6 SPB Mobile Shell is perfect for me.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but you can't really use the titanium plugin with Mobile Shell 3 since they both take over the today screen so I'm not sure I follow the poll..
Personally I use Mobile Shell with WM6.5 and have mobile shell overwrite start menu.
I still think Manilla2d is better but am still testing out mobile shell for the time being.
I tested SPB MS 3 on my Diamond with:
new Startmenu(Topaz)
TF3D
TodayAgenda on today
TFDetacher
I found it quite good to have all these three things running, but due to the LARGE memory footprint i banned SPB MS.
If there was an option to disable several pages to free up some ram (e.g. favourites carousel is quite redundant and just to show off, not to use), I might get back.
Also the lack of the former lock screen (Password lock overlay) was quite frustrating.
