Forwarding Text Messages - Touch HD General
Hey,
I've searched the forum and couldn't find any mention of this bug I've notice and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed it.
Basically received a joke via sms and went to forward it on so I read the text message on the touch flo display...tapped menu...and then forward message window opens but only 80 characters of the message I'm forwarding are copied into the new text message.
Strange so I thought I'll go to the sms inbox first open the message tap menu...reply....then forward again...137 characters were copied into the new message this time but still not the whole message...so if I forward directly from the touch flo I get 80 characters and if I forward after opening the message first I get 137 characters but never all the message?! This happens with all messages...I've noticed that the message opens with all the text there but as the character count appears at the bottom of the text it knocks the last line of the text off...has anyone noticed this on their HD?
Cheers!!
Dan.
Mine forwarded 161 characters.
Hey,
Was that the whole message?
Hi, I have noticed that as well, Had a similar problem today. the text itseld was 459 char (An essay I know!). I tried to forward directly from touch flo and it only included 450 char instead of 459 and it did the same when i went to Inbox --> Message in Question --> Reply --> Forward. Inserted 450 out of 459 char's!
Another annoying thing I found was that the text was chopped off at the end when viewing via Touchflo
It could be a bug...

2 other annoying things I found:
1) Another annoying thing I found was that the text was chopped off at the end when viewing via Touchflo
2) When composing a long text, it's hard to view if you have the keybaord the message as the keyboard takes up a lot of the screen.
Ahh so I'm not the only one! God know's how we'd go about resolving an issue like that! It's bl**dy annoying I know that!! lol
I know what you mean with the size of the keyboard taking up so much room but I wouldn't want to have the keyboard any smaller I think it's about right the size it is...are you using it in landscape mode?
Nah, using in Portrait mode.
My txts are tuck a 25 as well...shame it does not show all the messages...def a big...
A possible workaround: select all, copy & paste to new sms...

Incoming Text Messages are not in the inbox??
Please pardon this posting (if this is an already known issue - it's 3.00AM and I've been combing the Herald threads for known issues but didn't see this on there)... I got a new Wing today and after placing the SIM card in it, the phone works like one would expect until you try to send a text message. That never gets sent . What's more aggravating is the behavior on incoming text messages. The keys light up when I get a new text message and the counter on the home screen adds to the number of unread messages however, when I click on the link to attempt to view the messages, the inbox is blank. 0 messages in it. I have checked all the folders to no avail. Even a hard reset on the device doesn't seem to fix the issue. Am I missing something here? If so what?? FYI I called T-Mo support and their Tier 3 guy was stumped. Here's the wierd thing while I was going through testing to validate that this was an actual issue, I did get the "incoming text message" bubble notification and from there, I clicked on Menu (from the home page) and was able to view the text messages - so they're somewhere in my phone, just not in the inbox - anyone have any idea where I can look?
*bump* I'm having this problem now. Ever find the fix?
Total number of viewable message in touch flo message preview
Hi, if you guys notice in your messages, no matter how many messages you already have, it only displays a max of 25. This means you won't see the messages beyond 25 starting from the latest one...well at least not in the touch flow interface (where you can slide up to view next message with a fancy animation) for you to be able to see your oldest messages, you then have to click on 'All Messages'. I was wondering if someone knows where to to edit the max number of viewable messages in the registry. Right now its only set to 25. Thanks.
Same request, no answers till now
bump...anybody managed to find a way how?
ATT Tilt 2 texting limiting to 160 characters, anyway to change that?
Hi all, Ive noticed for my ATT tilt 2, the text messaging limits it to only 160 characters. When i go over the 160 character limit, i dont see the rest of the message and im not sure if whether the characters past 160 characters are sent or not. Is there anyway to change this? Thanks in advance for any replies. Cheers!
My understanding is that this is a limitation of SMS in general, not your device or carrier. If your message is greater than 160 characters, then the message is sent as 2 SMS, rather than 1.
the above poster is correct ::highfive:: guythathasateddbearforasig!
Hi ohyeahar, First off, thanks for the reply. On my old SE phone, when i send over the 160 character limit it does automatically send two text message and it shows that i sent 2 text message in my sent message folder. However, for my tilt 2, it just shows only 1 text message and it cuts off at 160 characters. So im not sure if it actually sent 2 text messages or if it only sent 1 and it just sent at the cutoff of 160 characters. Any idea with that or how to change that so if its past 160 character, it will automatically send 2 messages instead of 1? Thanks!

I just sent myself a message that's 170 characters to see what you mean. See the following screenshots. The sequence of "1234567890" (which is characters number 161 through 170) appears to me as the recipient and as the sender. This is consistently shown via the main SMS tab in Manila, the SMS tab inside the unified communications tab in Manila, the WinMo default threaded messaging window, and in the sent items of the WinMo default messaging app.
the tilt 2 will allow you to type up to 800 characters and it will split it up into 5 sms messages to the end user now if you want a large message all as 1, send it as an mms, i dont remember how large you can type in mms format, but its more then 800 characters, and it will be all as 1 big message.
I may know what you mean, and see what you mean as it's happening on my Tilt 2. In the Sense UI messaging application (if you slide to Messages, touch it, and reply) it only shows 160 characters of the message you type. But if you actually go to All Messages, and from the Inbox click the person who you sent it to, it shows the full message. I believe it's just a screen limitation with the Sense UI, but the full message should have been sent.
Thanks for all the inputs guys! It was very helpful. ianderson_76: thanks, that was the problem. After going to all messages, I can see the full text being sent and received. Cheers!

i8000 messaging problem!! Has Samsung noticed this?
I found a weird problem with i8000 text messaging. That is, when you try to write a text message, you won't be able the second line down! I tried in landscape but only first line of your text message is visible and the other lines are covered by the message box. So, you can't see what you are typing in second and next lines!
wait for txt messages before typing! arrgh!
ok, so, im guessing we all know this already... if we have over 1 txt message saved when trying to reply to a txt message its a pain. since you cant type while the messages are loading... any way to make it so that you can type when its loading? help! thx in advance
I can start typing, but the screen is jumping back a few messages, then I must scroll down and tap into the white area and continue to wirte my text. Some times it is laggy tou
Use the search chaps... there are many threads on this very 'issue'. When opening a thread of messages, the HTC messaging app loads all messages in the thread (typing whilst loading does now work after HTC 'fixed' it, however it will probably be laggy). Once all messages have loaded a 'feature' of HTC messaging highlights the last msg. A simple workaround is to attempt to send a blank txt, then when asked to confirm select no. Messages stop loading and you're able to type fine.
